A Fulani man was yesterday killed by some irate youths in Ajaka Igalamela/Odolu LGA Of Kogi State, after a failed abduction attempt. It was gathered that the deceased was notorious for kidnapping children on market days, when their parents must have gone out. He attempted it again, yesterday, and ran out of luck, when a palm wine tapper spotted him and raised an alarm, prompting youths in the area to pursue him with motorcycles. His victim, a girl, was rescued and jungle justice was administered to him before the arrival of the police. http://onomerealtor..com.ng/2017/04/jungle-justice-notorious-fulani.html

This is my blogging story with the aid of Nairaland. I’m a fresh graduate of a reputable private institution of Nigeria, class of 2016. I have been blogging for just 3 months and the experience has been great so far. After I graduated from the university, I became so confused about what to do next with my life with December fast approaching, I thought in the line of setting up a poultry but I had little or no time to execute a poultry business successfully, so I spent 2 months of my life thinking and strategizing on my next move in life as the country is presently facing recession, real estate firms and other companies are downsizing but I don’t want to stay idle while I wait for NYSC. In January someone spoke to me about blogging so I started blogging just because I was bored and idle then I got stuck and addicted to blogging although as at when I started, the traffic on my blog was very discouraging not until I discovered how nairaland operates. I started posting my updates and links on nairaland, my first post made it to nairaland’s frontpage and I couldn’t believe the quantum of traffic I got on my blog, it was overwhelming. But still I wasn’t satisfied because blog was about entertainment and news update. I’m a graduate of Estate Management and I wanted my blog in line with my profession so I started blogging in line with my profession, my traffic dropped though but I’m happy with the nature of my blog because all articles are self-written, no longer copy and paste. Nairaland have been good source of traffic on my blog and every other blog in Nigeria by one way or the other, I know that for a fact, I appreciate the moderators for ensuring Nairaland serves the purpose which it was created for. Visit my blog for free real estate consultation as I have written a lot of educative article on real estate investment, tenancy rights, how to spot scam in real estate investment and how to avoid them etc to serve as a guide in real estate both in practice (Estate Surveyors), for investors (Property Owners) and end users (Tenants) as we are all benefactors of real estate investment in one way or the other. Visit www.onomerealtor..com and see things for yourself. Best regards moderators, I hope this makes frontpage. |
Urban Resilience is the capacity of individuals, communities, institutions, businesses, and systems within a city to survive, adapt, and grow no matter what kinds of chronic stresses and acute shocks they experience. Chronic Stresses: Stresses weaken the fabric of a city on a daily or cyclical basis. Examples include: high unemployment overtaxed or inefficient public transportation system endemic violence chronic food and water shortages. Acute Shocks: Acute shocks are sudden, sharp events that threaten a city. Examples include: earthquakes floods disease outbreaks terrorist attacks Enugu Resilience Challenge The mild climate and vast opportunities of Enugu, in southeastern Nigeria, have drawn people and investment. Confronted with chronic energy shortages that drive residential and commercial reliance on petroleum-based generators, the city is working to manage population flows and establish cleaner, more reliable energy. Unreliable power has driven manufacturing away from the city, and new building developments have remained energy intensive, putting greater strain on the system and the environment. Transportation infrastructure has also presented challenges, as Enugu’s insufficient road system struggles to meet the city’s needs, and bridges are increasingly exposed to scour and erosion. In the case of many of these bridges, a single loss could significantly hinder the local economy. Officials have also been working to bring together various stakeholders, to address the risk of flooding by responding to drain blockages more effectively and gather effective damage reports, as well as to plan future building developments in more stable areas. Lagos’ Resilience Challenge Lagos has over 21 million inhabitants and is the cultural and economic heart of Nigeria. With financial, commercial, and tourist centers located on islands in the Gulf of Guinea, Lagos is especially susceptible to damage from rising sea levels and coastal erosion, which have already led to a decline in water quality, the destruction of drainage infrastructure, and an increase in incidences of water and vector borne disease. Coastal erosion has also hurt indigenous communities that depend on coastal resources for survival. Coastal flooding from storm surges has forced the relocation of resorts, businesses, and artisans from the popular tourist destination of Victoria Island. Recent initiatives involving private sector partners have already led to the reclamation of some coastline on the island, providing a model for future efforts to protect Lagos’ vulnerable shores. UK-based Nigerian pastor has been jailed in London for sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl and another woman during “private prayer sessions”. According to TheIndependentUK, 55 year old Benjamin Egbujor, a Bishop at the Jubilee Christian Centre in Peckham, South London was jailed along with his female secretary, Rose Nwenwu, who acted as his accomplice. Benjamin Egbujor and Rose Nwenwu reportedly preyed on their victim’s vulnerabilities, whilst satisfying their own sexual urges under the guise of private prayer. The Inner London Crown Court heard the victim, who was under the age of 16, was told by Egbujor, a bishop at the Jubilee Christian Centre in Peckham, South London, that she had been “chosen” to attend a special private prayer session. But after being taken to the 55-year-old’s office, the girl was forced to UnCloth and oil was poured over her. After she told her family what happened, they reported the incident to London’s Metropolitan Police who discovered during the course of their inquiries that another woman in her 30s had also been sexually assaulted by Egbujor. Egbujor, of Belvedere, Kent, was sentenced to three years in prison for the sexual assault and four months, to be served consecutively, for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Nwenwu, 43, of West Norwood, London, was also sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for sexual assault and three years, to be served concurrently, for helping and encouraging Egbujor. Both were made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will have to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register. Police believe there may be other victims and urged them to come forward after the Bishop, 55, was found guilty of sexual assault and of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Detective Inspector Angela Craggs, of the Met’s Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Command, said: “Egbujor and Nwenwu exploited the trust of their congregation when they targeted and abused these victims. “They believed their position within the church would protect them from facing justice, but the court has held them accountable for their actions. I hope this conviction serves to empower victims of sexual violence to come forward and report to police, and as a warning to offenders who think they can use their position to protect them from the law,” she said. The Jubilee Christian Centre was approached by The Independent request for comment, but none had arrived at the time of publication. http://onomerealtor..com.ng/2017/04/nigerian-bishop-jailed-for-sexually_2.html |
