Phones / How To Use Developer Options To Limit Background Apps by Anegbettedude: 8:09am On Nov 29, 2018
If you don’t want to depend on any third-party apps to kill apps for you, you can simply make use of a built-in feature in android to get the same effect. The feature in question will enable you to limit the number of background processes that can run on your device. But to access the functionality, you will need to follow these necessary steps:

Enable developer options on your device by continuously tapping on the build number in the ‘About Phone’ section of the settings menu of your device

In the developer options, navigate down to the Apps section and tap on ‘Background process limit.’

Then tap on the number of background processes that you want to allow, and when that is done, it means you are all set.

You can also prevent apps from running in the background by switching on the ‘Don’t keep activities’ options in the same menu which will kill every activity as soon as you change to a different task.

However, this might not have a significant effect on the overall performance of the device as it will have to load up apps from scratch each time you access them which will take a fair share of your time.

Good morning all, just seeing this thread. My Infinix Hot 4 is 17months old (bought brand new), but has been overheating recently. I even deleted apps i haven't used in a while, still nothing. And because of the overheating, the battery drains faster. What else can I do? Thanks.

Phones / Specs You Shouldn't Ignore When Choosing Your Next Phone by Anegbettedude: 9:51am On Nov 26, 2018
1) Internal modem and antennas
Every phone can make and receive calls of course, and manage the flow of data to and from your device, but they don't all do it equally well. The modem inside your smartphone is responsible for all this wireless traffic, and it's one of the specs that's worth looking out for.
The choice of modem dictates the maximum upload and download speeds you can expect on and off Wi-Fi, and which networks you can connect to while out of the country, and even whether or not a phone is able to include dual-SIM support or not. Better modems can work well on less power, meaning more battery life.
More antennas typically equates to faster speeds and a stronger signal. Of course, the top-end phones will only get the top-end cellular speeds
***
2) IP rating
The IP rating on a phone (or any other piece of gadgetry) refers to how well it can repel dust and water. IP simply stands for International Protection (or sometimes Ingress Protection), and is managed by the International Electrotechnical Commission.
The first digit after the IP is "solid particle" (dust) protection. As far as smartphones are concerned, it goes from 0, which is no protection at all, to 6, which is dust tight and means no particles can get inside the casing at all.
The second digit concerns "liquid ingress" (water) protection. For phones, you're looking at anywhere from a 0 (no protection) to an 8 (continuous immersion in water). Higher numbers are sometimes used (9K means protection against high temperature water gets), but for phones, IP68 is the gold standard.
However, manufacturers do have some flexibility in defining what the "8" in IP68 actually means, beyond continuous immersion: On every phone spec sheet you should see a mention of a depth and a time limit that the phone can withstand.
Smartphone makers are under no obligation to specify IP ratings, and may just use terms like "splashproof" or "waterproof" -- check the small print to find out exactly what this means. The good news for consumers is that most newer phones now offer some relatively good dust and waterproofing standard.

3) Charging speeds
If you simply plug your phone into the wall every night and forget about it, you might never have given much thought to how quickly its battery is filling up again -- as long as it's on 100 per cent by the morning, you're good to go. It's when you're dashing from place to place or perhaps only have a quick 10 minutes to juice up your phone that charging speed (and wireless charging speed) starts to matter.
How fast a phone charges depends on the way the phone is built, and the power of the mains or wireless adaptor you're using with it. You need both a fast-charging phone and a fast-charging adaptor to get your handset juiced up as quickly as possible -- as you'll know if you've ever tried to charge your phone from a laptop's USB port.
Look for the power of your charger, measured in watts (W), which is the current (often listed as amps or A) multiplied by the voltage (V). Also take note of the charging rate listed on the phone's specs. Manufacturers like to deploy a bunch of proprietary fast charging standards, and this infographic gives you some idea about how they compare.
Unless you're using a dodgy charger from some unknown brand, you're not going to blow up your phone by using a charger that's too powerful: Today's handsets include safety measures to stop that from happening.
***
4) AI engine
If you watched any of the major phone launches of 2018, you'll have seen reference to processor chips augmented with extra artificial intelligence powers -- and AI is indeed something that's worth looking out for the next time you're choosing a phone.

The internal architecture varies between manufacturers, but the basic idea is the same. These AI chips (or subsets of chips) are designed to handle the sorts of calculations needed for machine learning, in the same way that graphics chips are designed to handle the sorts of calculations needed for pushing pixels to a display.

One of the easiest examples to understand Artificial Intelligence is image recognition: when your. smartphone can spot which of your photos includes a dog, or being able to tell when you're shooting a close-up flower (so the camera app can intelligently adjust the camera settings to match). Being able to quickly recognise your voice through AI is another example.

Na lie joor my camon x charges with the same speed maybe it's because of tecno speed of light in it from 0 to 100 no dulling at all but I notice the phone and charger gets less hot once it gets to 90 but that doesn't mean my camon x will keep me waiting before it gets me to 100 infact if there is anything I adore so much about camon x it should be the charging speed, lasting battery and smooth browsing experience but I dislike the hios in it I wish it's pure Android one everything for Don dey perfect

Phones / Why Charging Speed Slows Down After Reaching 90% by Anegbettedude: 5:07pm On Nov 06, 2018
I have seen lots of complaints about this issue, i hope this does justice to such complaints. When a battery is being charged, the electrolytes near the electrodes (both positive and negative) receive the charge first and then it disperses throughout the battery. The latter is a slow process.
So if charging at a higher rate, only the part near the electrodes get charged up and shows full charge voltage of 4.2V but the parts farther from the electrodes haven’t received much charge yet.

Actually the rate is slowed significantly once you reach 80 percent(provided you are using the charger your phone came with and then again when it reaches 95 percent but actually it is slowing down once each percentage is crossed but only significantly at about 80 or 70 percent depending on if you are using the original charger.

Once the battery reaches closer to full charge if the charging current is not reduced it leads to release of gases which expand the battery and can even cause it to explode your phone and kill you or disfigure you.

To prevent this your phone is charged in a 3 stage or 2 stage charging method where from 15 percent to 80 percent a lot of current is allowed to enter your phone Once it reaches 80 percent it reduces charging rate and thus tries to stop any damage due to expansion of battery by gassing and this is further reduced once it reaches about 90 percent where the charging current is further reduced and after this the current drops slowly and charging from 99 percent to 100 percent takes the most time.

Phones / What Is Your Favorite Smartphone Color? by Anegbettedude: 8:54am On Nov 05, 2018
Every phone may look the same nowadays, but at least companies are experimenting a little more with color.

It wasn’t too long ago that we had the standard black and white color options, with possibly an extra color like rose gold thrown in. Now, at least in the case of flagship-level phones, we get many more options. Black and white are still the standard options, but many OEMs include blue, red, and even pink options in the lineup.

So, what’s your favorite? If you could choose one color for your next smartphone, what would it be? Let us know by casting your vote in the poll attached below.

Phones / How to send texts via Android Messages (Android) using your computer by Anegbettedude: 4:46pm On Oct 29, 2018
Android Messages lets Android smartphone owners text straight from a web interface, no matter what device they’re using. It works on desktops, laptops, or even iOS devices. You do have to set Android Messages as the default app on your phone though, so make sure to do so before getting started.
Step 1: Go to the Android Messages homepage.

Step 2: Open the Android Messages application on your phone.

Step 3: Tap on the three-dot menu icon and select “Messages for Web.”

Step 4: Tap “Scan QR code” and use your handset to scan the QR code from the Android Messages homepage. This will link your device and your browser, and you’ll see messages and contacts appear on your other device as they synchronize.
Step 5: Use the web interface to chat with friends and family as you would on your Android smartphone.

If you want to retain the synchronization between devices so that you don’t have to scan the QR code every time, you can hit the “Remember this computer” toggle in your web browser.

Phones / Hoe To Recover Your Phone Screen When It Is Frozen Or Stuck by Anegbettedude: 10:01am On Oct 29, 2018
If your phone is stuck while doing a task or making phone calls or maybe while playing games. Then, follow the steps below.

Hi, so do you have issues with your device freezing ? here is what you should do...
STEP 1
if you are encountering the issue only in particular app such as Instagram, Messaging, phone and so on, try to clear the app's cache.
go to setting > apps > search the particular app, then choose the app you are getting issues with and clear its cache.
STEP 2
If clearing the app doesn't do it, then update the app from any appstore that is free of viruses.
STEP 3
Update your operating system.
go to -settings
go to -system/about phone
go to- system update
them search for any available update and use either wifi or mobile data to download and install the OS.
STEP 4
If all attempts have been made yet it still persists, a factory reset or phone format could help you solve the problem.
