Phones / Airplane Mode May Finally Stop Shutting Down Bluetooth Audio, Starting With Andr by Anegbettedude: 11:05am On Jan 27, 2020
Airplane mode is a feature that has been around in phones for a very long time. The name comes from the idea that the radios in phones can interfere with airplanes, so this allows you to turn them off without powering down the phone completely. Airplane mode has other uses, of course, but it’s not a terribly nuanced tool: one tap kills all radios. However, in Android 11 R, it may get a little smarter.

This blanket approach can be annoying if you want to quickly disable cellular and Wi-Fi, but you’re listening to music over Bluetooth. If you’re familiar with ADB, there’s already a method for customizing which radios are turned off with airplane mode. Of course, that’s not a consumer-facing feature and not something most people will bother with. A new commit in the AOSP Gerrit is titled “Context-aware Bluetooth airplane mode” and it sounds like a much-requested feature.

Do not automatically turn off Bluetooth when airplane mode is turned on and Bluetooth is in one of the following situations:

Bluetooth A2DP is connected.
Bluetooth Hearing Aid profile is connected.
Android will be smart enough to realize that if you’re currently using Bluetooth you probably don’t want to disable it when toggling airplane mode on. “A2DP” is the profile used for most Bluetooth earbuds and headsets for media streaming. The commit has not been merged yet, but we can expect to see it in Android 11 R, the next major version of the OS. This is a small thing but it can make a big difference if you use airplane mode and Bluetooth a lot.

Update: Merged
After the commit was posted last month, it looks like context-aware Bluetooth airplane mode is moving forward. The commit was merged, meaning we will see this feature in Android 11. This will allow airplane mode to understand the context of Bluetooth and not turn it off when in use

Phones / How To Activate Do Not Disturb (DND) On Glo, MTN, 9mobile And Airtel by Anegbettedude: 8:28am On Jan 21, 2020
Are you tired of seeing messages from third-party services urging you to subscribe to this and that? You can now activate the “Do Not Disturb” feature, on your Glo, MTN, 9Mobile and Airtel lines.

Not too long ago 3rd party partners of the telecommunication companies in Nigeria started making use of deceptive strategies to get people to subscribe to their services.

Due to that many people have been lured into subscribing to one service or the other without realizing it; and in the end they’ll discover a constant reduction from their account balances.

Probably the Nigerian Communication Commissions (NCC) heard the complaint of the millions of subscribers in Nigeria and therefore made it mandatory that all the telecommunication companies allow the customers to choose not to be disturbed by activating the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature on their lines.

Activating do not disturb (DND) on Glo, MTN 9Mobile, & Airtel
Thanks to NCC, you now have the option to either activate full DND or partial DND. Full DND in the sense that you don’t want to receive any form of promotional messages or IVR at all. While partial DND allows you to deactivate some and leave some activated.

To get started, you need to decide whether you want the partial or full DND.

Note that all the networks in Nigeria make use of the same code (2442) to stop unsolicited messages and calls.

To Activate full DND SMS “STOP” to 2442.

If you’re interested in activating partial DND SMS “Help” to 2442.

Thereafter, you’ll receive a message containing all the categories services on the network and the codes needed to stop receiving messages from them.

The message should like this:

STOP: To stop all SMS and IVR messages.
ALLOW: To receive all SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 1: To receive Banking / Insurance/ Financial Products SMS.
SMS 2: To receive Real Estate SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 3: To receive Education SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 4: To receive Health SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 5: To receive Consumer goods & Automobiles SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 6: To receive Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 7: To receive Tourism & Leisure SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 8: To receive Sport SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 9: To receive Religion SMS and IVR messages.
STATUS: To check the status of your DND.
In summary, if you’re interested in partial DND, you need to first of all send “STOP” to 2442; thereafter start activating the services you’re interested in one by one. It’s as easy as that.

Using of this services is totally free. You can deactivate and reactivate as often as you please. And don’t forget to help the elderly ones get it done. Those who are not so tech-savvy and as a result are still suffering from the indiscriminate reduction of credit third-party services inflict on subscribers.

Take note, however, that direct calls and messages from your service provider will not cease. Only third-party services will be affected by whatever DND settings you have in place.
https://www.infinix.club/ng/forum/824/1956855

That’s all about activating DND on Glo, MTN, Airtel & 9Mobile lines.

Phones / How To Use Your Phone's Wi-fi Connection For Several Devices by Anegbettedude: 4:08pm On Jan 20, 2020
If you don’t have access to a wireless internet connection on just one of your devices, it's easy to share your phone's data connection so you can get it online, since you can just use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot. But, it's a slightly different story if you're looking to share your smartphone's Wi-Fi connection with multiple devices. In this article, we explain the three quick steps to getting all your devices online with Bluetooth.

There are plenty of good reasons to want to share your phone's Wi-Fi connection to more than one device using Bluetooth. Maybe you can pick up a Wi-Fi signal on your phone but not your laptop, or you only want to pay to connect one device while actually using multiple devices, including a tablet, other phones, or laptops. Setting up your phone to share its Wi-Fi connection with other devices over Bluetooth is actually really easy. Here's how to do it.

How to share Wi-Fi over Bluetooth
Step 1: Turn on your phone's Bluetooth

Step 2: Turn on Bluetooth tethering on your phone

Step 3: Pair your device via Bluetooth and receive connectivity

Step 1: Turn on your phone's Bluetooth
Get your phone online using a Wi-Fi connection and you'll then be ready to configure the connection for sharing with other devices over Bluetooth. Sharing a wireless signal is great if you're out and about and don't have access to the internet, and it's is a good option if you are having trouble getting a particular phone or computer connected to the network in the usual way.

First, go to Device connectivity > Bluetooth.
Ensure Bluetooth is On.

Step 2: Turn on Bluetooth tethering on your phone
Now you're certain that Bluetooth is enabled on your device:

Go to Wireless & networks.
Select Tethering & portable hotspot.
Enable Bluetooth tethering.
Step 3: Pair your device via Bluetooth and receive connectivity
With this done, you can then use Bluetooth on your laptop or PC, tablet, or another device to connect to your phone and make use of its internet connection.

Simply pair your smartphone with the device you want to share the connection with under Device connectivity > Bluetooth.
Once connected, make sure Internet access sharing is enabled in the device profile by tapping the settings icon next to the device name.
Finally, set up the connected device to receive its network connection via Bluetooth in its network settings.
This is very straightforward with smartphones, but to connect a Windows PC you have to go to Settings > Devices and printer, right-click the icon representing your phone, and select Connect using > Access point. Ta-Da! You're ready to start browsing the internet.

Did you find this useful? Have you managed to connect your phone's internet connection with other devices? Tell us in the comments.

Phones / Mediatek Wants To Bring Gaming Chipsets To Even Cheaper Phones by Anegbettedude: 10:30am On Jan 13, 2020
Gaming-branded chipsets have become a thing in the last year or so, thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G and MediaTek’s Helio G90T.

Both of these processors target the mid-range to upper mid-range price brackets, but it looks like MediaTek is aiming even lower with its next gaming chipset.

Read: The very best products at CES 2020

We’ve heard murmurings (both official and unofficial) of the Helio G70 chipset’s pending release, and the company has now confirmed that a lower end G-series SoC is coming.

MediaTek’s Yenchi Lee told Android Authority that it would fall below the G90 series in terms of capabilities but not by much. “Definitely, it’s lower than G90T, it’s more for mass market (sic),” Lee was quoted as saying, adding that we’d hear about the new gaming chipset “very soon.”

The company didn’t disclose specs, but hopefully it doesn’t make too many performance compromises. Nevertheless, one supposed leak points to an octa-core CPU design (two Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55) and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

On GPU updates and tri-cluster tech
The firm also pioneered the tri-cluster or triple power domain CPU trend currently seen on many flagship chipsets, dividing the CPU cores into big, medium, and little cores. We don’t see this on the Dimensity 1000 or new Dimensity 800 processors though, but MediaTek says it isn’t giving up on this technology.

“I think we are continuing to do this tri-cluster technology, and you will see that soon in the future,” Lee said, without disclosing a launch window.

Qualcomm delivered a rather cool feature at its Snapdragon 865 and 765 launch last month, announcing that it will offer GPU updates via the Play Store. This means you don’t need to wait for a system update to get the latest graphics drivers and fixes for your phone. MediaTek says it’s investigating this technology too.

“Yeah, we are trying to see if we’ll be able to do that in the future,” Lee noted, but could we see it in 2020 then? “We don’t have a timeline yet. We have to make sure we work with our partners to provide that.”

1. Clear space on the internal memory of your phone and make sure that there is at least 2GB free space of storage in the internal memory.

2. Clear your cache regularly. Clear more than you read your bible sef.

3. Do not leave too many apps open in the background especially if it's a 1GB/2GB ram phone.

4. If a particular app is misbehaving, update it on Playstore.

5. Avoid Infinix OTA updates.

The design of Infinix S5 is inspired by nature beauty, the gorgeous quetzal. Quetzal is considered by many as one of the most beautiful birds in the world. It has iridescent, breath taking and metallic-look tail feathers. It also symbolizes freedom and pride, spirits that the Infinix consumers are seeking.

To perfectly present the quetzal feather patterns on the back of the device, Infinix uses glass-like materials, polyester film and the 3D stretch bending technology. It enables Infinix to reflect the gradient colors and crystal feather patterns naturally and three-dimensionally. Infinix S5 is available in three colors – Quetzal Cyan, the symbolic color of quetzal, Nebula Black as well as Violet.

Hey guys.

With much innovation going on in the tech world these days one can’t but wonder what the next big thing will be.

These days cameras are on another level. Most manufacturers want users to experience the bezel-less full screen feel, which is why the pop up camera was invented.

Its predecessor was the teardrop notch camera.

Which do you prefer though?

Pop up or Teardrop

Phones / Facebook, Instagram Apps On Google Play Store Vulnerable: Check Point by Anegbettedude: 9:17am On Nov 22, 2019
Check Point Research on Thursday said it found the latest versions of some of the most famous apps in the world on Google's Play Store, including Facebook and Instagram, to have vulnerabilities that were believed to have been patched earlier. The research shows that threat actors can still execute code on the latest versions of mobile applications on Play Store, despite the updates those mobile apps have pushed to people.

In short, threat actors can gain administrative control over the mobile applications studied by Check Point Research.

Theoretically, hackers can steal and alter posts on Facebook, extract location data from Instagram and read SMS messages in WeChat, said the research.

In a month-long study, Check Point Research cross-examined the latest versions of these high-profile mobile for three known remote control execution (RCE) vulnerabilities dating from 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Each vulnerability was assigned two signatures. Then, Check Point Research ran its static engine to examine hundreds of mobile applications in Google's Play Store to see if old, vulnerable code was present in the latest version of the application.

Check Point Research found vulnerable code, which was claimed to patched, present in the latest versions of popular mobile application.

For now, Check Point urges people to install an antivirus-app that monitors vulnerable apps on the phone.

"Mobile app stores and security researchers do proactively scan apps for malware patterns, but devote less attention to long-known critical vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, this means there's not much the end user can do to keep his mobile device fully secure," said the research.

Check Point Research said it informed the applications as well as Google about the vulnerabilities.

The revelations come amid a snooping controversy that hit WhatsApp after Israeli spyware Pegasus exploited vulnerability in the messaging platform, affecting 1,400 select users globally.
