@Camelily Don't you think we need to find you in the Programming section of Nairaland Forum. I think the guys there are gonna love ya. Web 3.0 isn't far away anyway. Let's just brace ourselves. It's nice to have a lady "techbug" in the house, ![]() |
Truth is, it may not really matter where my girl's from. As long as she's the queen I fell in love with, her feet is as yummy as ice cream. |
The truth is, it is not necessary. But in Nigeria, it is a pain in the a-- to know that the system thinks so. God help us. |
Another IMPORTANT sign you should look out for are unnecessary and frustrating processing speed while using your system, especially ur browser(s). It could be a spyware, or a backdoor program in action. Take care while online shah! |
@uspry1 Hello ma! Goodday 2 u. The name's Larry Chykes from Nigeria, Abuja to be precise, and I was just stunned almost to the state of dumbness, when I traced a reply of urs to ur webpage. Actually, I would consider u a veteran(ess) in the IT world, and I thought I could ask for ur permission to benefit from ur vast experience and skills. Professionally, I'm a Network Engineer/Network Security Specialist, though without a degree (still working on it), and I'm about to write my CCNA exams. I may not know how to genuinely convince you that having you as a mentor will mean much to me, coz I intend to be the world's greatest computer scientist (R Kelly's " The World's Greatest" is my favourite song),and I know I need real-life mentors like you. Please will you make me ur pen-pal? My email address is urangelofluv@gmail.com . My handle on Nairaland is " angelchyke " so u can view my profile, and check my former posts. Thank u so much ma and God bless. |
Was just wondering, does one specialised in Networking with just a CCNA certification, but without a degree, have any sort of chance or opportunity to be employed into any company in Nigeria? If so, how do I go about it, and if you can help, will you let me contact you? Moreover, I'll just like to know, does a CCIE without a degree stand any chance of employment in Nigeria, and I'm talking about Telecom companies, banks, or the Oil and Gas Sector? Need your opinion guys; honestly and sincerely? |

To be honest, this is sort of the wrong place to post this stuff. Take care though! |
Eventhough this post is a little bit extreme, and if gotten into the wrong and curious hands could pose disaster, for the white-hat (ethical hackers), it still provides some enlightenment. We should be careful guys of who and how we divulge info stuff. Take care. |
Thanks guys. You have all given me something to think about. @ Javalove. Thanks so much. I'll consider the US. |
Alright guys. You may not believe this (believe me), but I need ur help and advice. You see, the highest educational qualification I possess is my SSCE and I sort of was successful at this year's Karrox IT Scholarship tests. I opted to study Java programming. Now, my question. I intend to study for a degree later on, possibly later this year or early next year, and I was thinking, can I fend for myself after studying Java? The next question: HOW ![]() I'll need ur experiences and sincere advice. Thanks. |
@Javalove Ride on brother! You may not be me,and I'm definitely not you. Your meat may be my poison any way. Maybe we could look at it from a fictional point of view. Ever seen the movie, "24", i mean the Season 5? Chloe O'brian of CTU, is (or was married) to a Moris O'brian. And I mean these guys are pure, hardcore technoids. My point? Your wish can be a possibility, and who knows, your family could be the greatest programmer-family in the world. As far you love your wife for who she is, no shaking!!! |
C would be the best programming language to start with if hardcore programming is your interest. Meanwhile, if your Mathematics (you feel), is not that strong, why not try Java or some other high level language like Python. All in all, the most important thing is for you to find a comfortable language that you feel cool with, you know what I mean? |
@ Javalove Will you guys ever have time for eachother as husband and wife, let alone lovers in love? Don't let me imagine what rearing kids could look like for the rest of your lives, Beware! |
@Dual Core Hello dude! Would really love to know you better. Actually, you're correct. When a techie meets a techie, it's something of great joy to get introduced. My email addresss is urangelofluv@gmail.com . Your's actually hidden but no probs. You're really cool, ![]() |
Hello one and all! The name's Larry, alias "Your Angel of Love" or simply "AngelChyke". I really enjoy making friends and solving people's problems, mostly spiritual, emotional and career-related. Besides that, I put it upon myself as my life's purpose never to let my friends derail from the right path in life. Professionally, I'm more of an IT-professional. I specialise in Network Configuration and Maintenance, Network Security, Network Programming and Ethical Hacking. A christian too. I reside temporarily in Abuja, but permanently in Delta State, though the tables hope to turn a few months from today, so that I'll be permanently based in Abuja. I love playing Karate in my spare time (i.e. when I have the time), and surfing the net seems to be the first most important hobby of mine, after reading. I love being around people, influencing them and making them see the importance each of us could play in our society, in the world and in our lives, no matter how insignificant that effort may seem. You know, influence really has a trippling effect; once it starts, you'll never when it's going to stop. Well what more can I say? Just call me on 07031165560, but only if you have a problem though. I'll be glad to talk you through it, and will be ready to be a close friend and companion. Or you can also email me: urangelofluv@gmail.com Mind you guys, just trying to help out. No strings attached, NEVER even financial. I'm quite sure the world hasn't come to that yet. N.B: If this post really pulls in an impressive amount of response, I think I'll just go ahead and publish the website I've really held back for so long. The site would just seek to help others and develop them. I just want to help others and heal the world the little way I can. Take care of yourselves, ![]() |
Hello everyone. I've always wondered why there seem to be either so few Nigerian tech ladies, or none. Where are they? Guys, do you think they are scared of IT? Or perhaps, they are still busy taking care of "THE KITCHEN" or acting out "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" out there. Would love to hear from them though, ![]() |
How about education?! Develop and encourage software development patterned toward the development of our educational systems. You know, ur mind has to be a little bit outside financially beneficial considerations if you really wanna come up with something pretty creative. Though I bet you, you won't regret it financially. |
I was really wondering about my life and about my career path, and I happened to come to the conclusion that for a nerdy kind of guy like me, Nigeria may not really be the right place to dedicate life to IT and enjoy it as well (save for a few cities like Abuja). Now my question is this: between the UK and the United States of America, which one do you guys think a dedicated, professional and damn-good IT person will enjoy, without financial benefits if the need arises? If you think the best country for IT development is not within the boundary of these two countries, name your choice country. Thanks guys for sharing my thought!!!! |
Hey, just a tip of advise. For wannabe hackers and the general good of mankind, never overlook the famous C programming language. No wonder so many run away from it. Chou, ![]() |
Nice feat I must confess! |
After all is said and done, and politely acting as the moderator who started this HOT issue, I do think it is evident and obvious, as well as worthy of note that though a degree is good general introduction to any aspect of computer science, be it Programming, Networking, Computer Graphics, etc, our syllabus is very much "OUTDATED". Yes. Mark the qouted word here, "OUTDATED", meaning "Not Up-To-Date". khai Khai mentioned that over in the US, Lisp and Prolog they have been exposed to. I bet u some students in that department here in Nigeria don't know what "Lisp" means let alone "Prolog" that precedes Lisp. The system needs revision. That's all. But where and who do we talk to about this. We can make a diff. guys, can't we? We do we approach as a group to look into this recommendation. Where do we start from? N.B: meanwhile, I'll advise anyone seriously interested in "serious" computing to either study alone or apply to a trade school, i.e. the likes of Aptech, NIIT, Afrihub, amongst others to forge forward. Bcoz the world won't wait for us, can't wait for us rather! |
@cdeveloper Help me tell bro. The Nigerian society is very much unlike the western countries. Destiny, just wish u'll make the best decision coz my earlier advice to you was from the heart to a brother. Remember, no mistakes. Bye. |
Sometime ago, last month, a friend of my in the Computer Science came by my place, to visit and you know, "shack garri". AFter he was done, satisfying the whims of his belly, he told me that he just doesn't get. They had been given an assignment in PASCAL programming. This is a guy that started learning programming privately, with C#. But if I should throw this to the Nigerian community here on Nairaland, what do our universities have to offer us in the study and research of computer science. PASCAL? Can they favourably compete with the foreign counterparts in the other universities. Naija guys and girls abroad, your unprejudiced judgements will go a long way, |
I share ur feelings too, Destiny, but believe me, I've been there! I was once studying B.A. Theatre Arts at the University of Abuja, Gwagwalada, Nigeria, before I dropped out, just a semester into the course. Not that I wasn't any good there, but I thought, " Men, why spend (or rather, waste) 4-5 good years trying to get JUST a cert, when all I loved and ever wanted to do was just wake up with computers, have breakfast with them, go to bed with them, and everything you could ever imagine. But after that, I really regretted my decision. Believe me, the advantages of having a cert, especially here in Nigeria, certainly outweigh the disadvantages. 1. You'll need it to go very far, even in the computer-related job market. 2. You'll need it to measure up to the status of your peers, friends and even fellow workers. 3. You will have a sense of completeness, whether you like it or not. 4. It is preferable you have it now that you're younger and full of (mental) life. 5. Especially if you have a computer-related degree, you can join the National Association of Computer Science Practitioners. That is one of their requirements. Believe me, right now, I'm on my way to start a degree in Computer Science. To me, though I'll need time to do it, I feel I'll still have a lot to gain in this 4-year pursuit, including the broadening of my knowledge base. You know alot of research still lies ahead for us.e.g Artificial intelligence? Kindly take my story as a true life example. Don't make the same mistake. Be focused. Know what you truly want, and , JUST HANG IN THERE. Love ya, |
How many of us Nigerians, truly are truly going to miss Windows XP, in case Microsoft finally decides to give the sales of this globally popular OS? REFER to http://unwired3ng..com/2008/05/windows-xp-to-be-off-market-by-june-30.html Guys, you know what, I have had Microsoft's monopoly up-to-here, Don't you think it's about time we developed our own Systems Software Suite. You know, "Made-in-Nigeria" stuff. Who knows, even if the world doesn't acknowledge its popularity or superiority over the Windows, Linuxes, etc, at least it will be a great advancement in the great Nigerian IT dream. What's your opinion guys in the House ![]() |
No vulgar language allowed here, alright? Guys, the only way to a successful mastermind group is a complete sense of unity. So, let's be one guys. ANything is possible!!! |
