Banking jobs are already stressful enough with a lot of distractions and temptations without them having to also be carrying around the fear of being sacked and denied benefits. That is why a lot of them are into criminal activities and fraud. Mind you, 'having something to do on the side' as you have so casually put it is also fraud. Your employer is paying you for your undivided attention, not for you to use their time to run your own private gig. These unhealthy terminations are pushing people into dishonesty and outright crime. So many of them are duping their employers of huge sums of money and using it to travel out these days because of no job security. You are sounding so smug and superior now because one desperate and dubious bank worker has not cleared your account and left you stranded. Until it happens to you before you know that bankers lives also matters. Abi have you not read posts here of people crying and displaying in banking halls? Who do you think stole those monies? Totally impractical reasons for termination. They are thrown out empty handed, given only one months pay if they have not worked up to 10yrs with the bank. Who does that? Besides that clause should only be invoked if a person resigns voluntarily! You sack someone unfairly and claim the person did not stay up to 10yrs as the reason you denied them their benefits. In this current economy. Is that not witchcraft? My dear brother, the story is not mine to tell like I said. They are many, and they are all keeping quiet and thats why the banks are getting away with it. I understand the economy is bad right now and these are businesses struggling to make profits. But at what cost? They are throwing people into depression and hunger and ruining families! If you must downsize, do it honorably. Don't use ridiculous excuses like appraisal blablabla, when most of what is being appraised are beyond the control of the appraisee and subject to the mood and dictates of the appraiser. You want to downsize? own it with your chest. Say "We are sorry, we have to let you go, the economy is not friendly and we have to cut overhead.
