. I know but at least in Africa, you can discipline but over there, you can't. That's my point.
A situation where a parent that knows that his kid needs discipline to get it right, but can't enforce it can be frustrating.
I can't abdicate my responsibility towards my kids and can't watch them become wayward.
We have many African parents that due to poverty and ignorance, have abandoned their duties.

Yes you can discipline. Matter of fact I do that to my kids all the time. They're are several effective ways that we as parents can discipline our kids. The word discipline itself comes from discipleship.. Meaning to teach.
Flogging, hitting or causing physical harm to a child is not discipline.
There's a thin line between how we discipline kids in Africa and child abuse. That's why lots of kids in Africa dont have self confidence. They don flog their confidence commot for their body.
The first thing I noticed since relocating abroad is that kids here are very self confident. They can look you in the eye and have a very good conversation with you.
I know liberals here in the US will rather have their kids run in autopilot mode which is very wrong but just like I said we can take the best of both worlds and raise our kids accordingly.
This is one of the major reason why 1st generation immigrants kids usually do way better than American kids.

. Very pathetic. That's the one reason why I have refused to join my older brother who advised me to come over to Canada. I can't watch my kids grow in a society where kids are raised without African discipline. African discipline helped me a lot in becoming responsible in life. I can't deny my kids such a good thing, especially as we are in a decaying world.
And how well has the so called African discipline helped Africa so far. Girls are becoming prostitutes and boys are becoming Yahoo boys at a faster rate. And these horrible things are starting to be considered a norm these days in Nigeria. With all our so called decipline, we are still the poverty capital of the world.
You people should stop dehumanizing the western way raising kids. No culture is perfect. I try to look for the best of both cultures and raise my kids accordingly and I consider them to be very lucky. They're so many good and bad sides in the African way of raising kids and so it is also in the western world.

This statement is 100% valid.

Exactly right. They're probably are still in denial mode. My son is getting ABA Therapy for Autism. He got diagnosed with PPDNOS by his primary care physician after meeting with several professionals. He's probably just a late talker or high performance autistic.
I went into depression straight afterwards because I wasn't fully informed about stuffs like this.
As long as medication is not involved. Early intervention is very vital.
OP talk to your wife and have your seen by a professional.
I look at him now and I'm shocked on how much progress he's made in the past 1 year. Dude is really smart and changed my life for good. He's the purest of all souls I've ever encountered

Can't even remember the last time I post here on Nairaland but because of you I had to reset my password.
1.) Stop hitting that boy. That's a very horrible thing you can do to a boy like him? How dare you. Do you even know what's going on in that boys brain. He could be experiencing sensory overload 24-7 and you should be looking for ways to understand him better instead of making things worse. Things he loves doing and all that. The soccer is a good idea, Still give him some time. Even though he doesn't like it now, don't be surprised if he turns out to be the best player eventually

2.) Was he late in talking or speech development? If that's the case. Please read The Einstein Syndrome (Bright Children Who Talk Late) by Thomas Sowell

3.) Do you a history of engineers or people in analytical occupations in your family?

4.) Don't ever make the mistake of taking that boy to Nigeria. That's the most stupid thing you will do as a parent. It's even annoying that you're considering that in the first place. He can get all the behavioral care and therapy he needs here in the US.

5.) He'll probably be diagnosed with ADHD, PPDNOS, or Autism but please no matter what don't ever make the mistake of putting him on medication. Its way too early for that. I've been diagnosed with ADHD so I know what I'm talking about.

6.) Be very careful please. That little boy could be a genius and your actions could suppress the genius in him. If you take him to Nigeria where they have zero clue on how to manage kids like him and they'll just reformat his brain to conformity

7.) So with all the resources that you have access to in the US, Nairaland and Nigerians are the ones you're seeking advise from? .. Very strage. It makes your parents tactics questionable. Like you're trying to escape from your parental responsibilities. I do have a son currently on behavioral therapy and I can't even fathom the idea of sending him to Nigeria. Horrible Idea

8.) Again. That boy could be a genius in the making and you should be researching information from reliable sources on how to reenforce his strengths and work on his weaknesses instead of coming here on nairaland where people will tell you to seek spiritual help

Where in the Christian book is it stated that one won't make heaven for eating Titus fish and vitamin c? Shouldn't that tell you that the woman is a scam that has nothing to do with Christianity?

But your hate for God won't allow you reason.

Same way Boko Haram has nothing to do with Islam

To me, there's no controversy.

Paying tithe is optional, there's no compulsion there. I don't think Oyedepo has ever forced anyone to pay it.

The church of Jesus Christ is matching on.

Psychological compulsion... These guy is telling you that the only way up is when you pay your tithe..... . But seriously can't you guys see it for once

If you can not give, you cannot receive

Bro time after time these so called pastors have clearly stated it that there's a clear difference between do charityaand paying tithes... They insist you must pay your tithe in the church

“You can’t go up except by tithing."
That's just exactly how a scammer sound.

Really.....sometimes I wonder if people listen to these so-called gods of men. The worst thing is they can't fully back it up with the Bible. They'll rather pick one or two verses in the Bible and use it to back their stupid claim
Just exactly how Boko Haram will pick two verses in the Quran and use to kill innocent

Well ......Dangote, Bill Gate, and the likes don't pay tithe how come they are still rich

And you're a British citizen hiding in England. Such a coward.
I pity you, the day wey you go overrun your mouth, they go con finally get time for you. Bundle and hand you over to Nigeria...you go know how far....Ask Julian Assange of Wiki Leaks

I'm very much in support of the disintegration of Nigeria and emancipation of the South-South and South-East.
But this Nnamdi Kanu guy is not only a joker but a fraud. This guy started well but obviously, he has lost it. Imagine the idiot being referred to as a supreme leader. IPOB is now like a religion

Wow....The comments here are so surprising.
It's only in Nigeria intellectual Property Theft/Piracy is not taken seriously.
The guy FELT his song was used without his consent and took the matter to the appropriate court.
As far as I'm concerned he has done nothing wrong and he has all the right to voice his pains.
I'm not saying Tuface is wrong here but even Tuface has never openly denied the allegation knowing full well what's at stake.
Blackface here is saying he's fighting for the future of music in Nigeria.
Cases of song stealing are just too rampant in Nigeria that even renowned artists steal songs from poor upcoming artists and someone has to speak up and do something

Remind me of Gobe....Davido ended up paying the guy 500k which is peanut compared to how big song became known all over the world
https://naijagists.com/davido-stole-gobe-song-from-singer-password-paid-him-n500000-after-copyright-claim/

My advice for both of them is to settle privately outside of court

Hasn't step in Nigeria since 2010? So basically even the lady who inspired our Childhood of having hope for Nigeria ended up leaving also. Well I dont blame her
Back in the oldies when she sang this song and now... Nothing has really improved... As a matter of fact things have really gone worse
While the world has, moved on we Africans are still behind.

Our Doctors are leaving for the western world... There's been a huge brain drain of skilled Nigerians relocating to Canada.. I left 4 years ago and it's very unlikely that I'll return permanently anytime soon.
The recent 2019 election has made me given up on all hopes I have for this country.
Nigeria is collapsing before our eye
We definitely need to go back to the drawing table and restructure the entire system if not we'll continue moving in circles
