@Modelnatho,with every business or profit comes risk. The first question is what is your risk appetite? Are you risk averse, risk fencer,or risk tamer? Secondly, what level of returns on investment are you looking at? Third, how long do you want to hold any investment before you cash out? It is imperative to know that the first rule of investment is diversification, but concentrated diversification. Answer these questions and we can take it from there. And for your information,www.angelstartups.com.ng is a professional platform where you register as an investor and have access to many viable businesses to analyse. There will be stock analysis also for registered investors. Its free. |
The product market is another name for the Real Sector where real commodities are traded.Consumer Goods is one of them. Generally,if you are not investing in stocks or bonds (capital market) or money market, then you are investing in the real sector (service industry is under this also). So,Product Market is a generic name. |
What products do you feel comfortable with that the people within that environ will be happy to buy from you straight off? As it is,you need a very liquid business that will be able to cater for your child. This means you have to look around your environ and look at the obvious need that people are complaining of,or not getting from some other shops that you can cater for in terms of service and price. I am aware that there is always a lot of events around that environ weekly, why not look at where you can serve these events,so outside customers that will patronize you because of your unique service and possibly price, event days become cash cow also. |
@Op,business is not done this way.You need to know what product you intend to sell at what price and promotion before you rent a space. My questions for you: What are you passionate about?i.e which area of life interest you most? Which location is the space? What is your expense per month personally? Note that there is no such thing as quick cash in business. You have to understand your products, industry, location, and competitors amongst other things. Answer these questions for a start. |

@Choboking, 1)pick your e-dividend form from your broker, fill it and take to your bank for signature verification. Then return to your broker.Your dividend will be credited into your bank account. 2)Check newspapers like BusinessDay and look for Daily Stock Performance Reports,if its comprehensive it will contain dividend paid last and date paid for most companies. Alternatively,go to the website of the companies, look for investor relations and download their most recent financial reports. There you will see dividends paid. Some companies pay dividends twice in 1 year,most-once. |
you are welcome.hope it was helpful. |
@excel12go,there are a few good businesses you could do that won't disturb your studies. But you must understand this, returns on investment come with risks on profit. 2 major classes of investment you can put your cash into: 1)Financial asset investment and 2)Non-financial asset invesment Under financial, you have money market e.g-fixed deposit, treasury bills, bonds. These are short-term and almost risk-free,with returns of say 5-15% per annum. There is also the capital market which is where companies stocks are traded. These are high-risk and meant for long-term purpose. You must understand the market or have someone that does-a financial adviser. Then you have the non-financial where real commodities, products and services are traded. These can be for short-term or long-term based on your agreement with Partners. There is no guarantee of profits, however if you put your money with trusted partners who are willing to sign legal documents with you on your stake in their businesses and how much returns you will earn and when, then you are good to go as a dormant partner. You will only not take part in board decisions. If I may ask, which school are you? You can look at businesses such as Photocopier, and find a good location to place it and a honest staff to put in charge (ofcourse you will have to pay for space). You can talk to the porters in your hostel and put a PS3 there (fairly used),you can set up a Chicken n Chips kiosk on campus. You can partner with a honest friend if #50,000 won't be enough and you both own the business. There are many others. |

@kavey10,studying the financials mean looking at the financial reports of the companies you have selected to possibly buy to understand their fundamentals. This means the intrinsic value which can help project future earnings of the companies. Here you look at Topline growth, bottomline growth, earnings growth and dividend growth rate. You have to apply Present Value formula to value the projected future earnings for the next 5 years. Business Model means how strong is the companies'market position?,is their business flexible to shrug off serious market risk?Like Smartphone coming to take major space of the Laptop market. Valuation means is the price of the stock right to buy now or do you wait a while?Only buy when the price is right-undervalued by the market or just about the book value.Do this by using NAV method or multiples ratios. CAGR=Compounded Annual Growth rate. Its always better to use this for defined periods to understand how the companies have been growing y-o-y. CAGR= (Present Value/Past Value)^(1/n-1) - 1, n is no.of years. |
