We wanted to post a link to her social network page where she posted this photo but we thought about this hard and came to a conclusion that this will only help her get what she actually wants, Fame & Followers, so we changed our mind and decided to post her picture which we might probably delete as the spirit leads us.

45-year-old Buko Balguda from Duss, a Karo tribal village in southern Ethiopia's Omo Valley is a lonely woman. Why? Her seven sons and eight daughters were all killed at birth by village elders who decided that the children were cursed.
Balguda says, 'I lost five plus five plus five babies - 15 in total, I had seven males and eight females. During this time, our tribal traditions were very hard. I did not respect our traditions, so they killed my children.'
Balguda’s children were killed because they were called the 'mingi' or cursed children. The concept of 'mingi' or cursed children remains a religious belief of the Hamer and Bana people, with elders insisting that mingi infants are killed before they can bring the rest of the tribe bad luck.
The belief is still practiced and despite efforts by the Ethiopian government to ban it - cursed children are murdered every day, whether by being left alone to be eaten by hyenas, thrown to hungry crocodiles or simply starved to death in a locked hut.
Balguda’s problems did not begin with the death of her children, it stated when her her future husband failed to take part in her tribe's traditional bull jumping ceremony - an initiation rite for men which has to be completed before they can marry.
When he married Ms Balguda anyway, village elders declared that any children would be considered illegitimate and would be killed as soon as they were born.
According to a photographer Eric Lafforgue who has spent a considerable amount of time with the Karo and Hamer tribes, illegitimacy isn't the only reason for a child being declared a 'mingi'.
"Others are deemed cursed because of disabilities, because their parents didn't get permission for a pregnancy from the elders, because they are a twin and most cruelly of all, because their teeth develop the wrong way."
Lafforgue says, "If the first tooth appears in the upper jaw, instead of the lower, the child becomes mingi, this applies to the baby teeth and the adult teeth, so older children can be killed too.
"Being declared mingi almost always means death of the child,' he continues. 'The tribe will leave the child alone in the bush without food and water or will throw the child in the middle of the river full of crocodiles."
"The Karo, Bana and Hamer tribes believe evil spirits or a "curse" will bring bad luck for the community, like drought, famine, disease or even death if mingi children are not killed."
“Cruel though the practice is, The villagers fear that that if the children aren't killed, bad luck will blight the tribe. 'Most of the tribes in the Omo Valley still have strong superstitions," adds Lafforgue
Although Balguda wasn't required to kill her own child, she was forced to stand and watch as elders carried her babies away to their deaths. "It was not me who killed the babies," she remembers. "It was other people from my village. I broke the rules of our community, so they killed my babies."

Shares of Manchester United surged almost 5% yesterday after the soccer team TISI -2.02% announced its new, $130 million a year kit deal with Adidas , which will begin during the 2015-16 season and see the German sportswear maker replace its U.S. rival, Nike.

Wall Street now affords United an enterprise value of $3.6 billion. Math: market value ($3.05 billion) + long term debt ($613 million) – cash ($57 million). In April, we valued Real Madrid as the world’s most valuable team, worth $3.44 billion, with Barcelona second at $3.22 billion, and United third at $2.81 billion.

Wall Street may be right. Although United will not participate in the lucrative 2014-15 Champions League due to its seventh place finish in the 2013-14 Premier League, the team now commands both the richest uniform ans shirt deals in the world (the Manchester City $63 million a year shirt deal with Etihad Airlines is excluded from the table because it also includes stadium naming rights).

It may be tough for RM to catch Manchester United, at least in terms of how Wall Street perceives their valuations.

Spain is looking to have La Liga teams negotiate their next television deal collectively rather than having the individual teams sell their media rights. This will likely eliminate the huge television revenue advantage RM and Barcelona ($182 million each, with number two Atletico Madrid pulling in just $61 million) currently enjoy over their rivals. Also, RM’s shirt with Adidas runs through 2020 and its shirt sponsorship with Emirates Airline is through the 2017-18 season. So those categories have a reset written into the deals RM will not get an increase in revenue from them any time soon.

Outside of soccer, the two most valuable teams are MLB’s New York Yankees ($2.5 billion) and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys ($2.3 billion). But both of those valuations are likely too low given they were published prior to Steve Ballmer’s $2 billion offer for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers.

After a long hard battle, a historic vote in York today July 14th, during the ongoing general synod, gave women the right to be made bishops. This scraps the ban on women after a plea from the Archbishop of Canterbury yesterday gave his blessing to the voting results.

The move comes 20 years after women were allowed to become priests and just 20 months after a previous attempt failed when 74 lay members voted against the proposal. The vote also means that the next Archbishop of Canterbury or York could be a woman.

Today's historic vote to allow women bishops comes 20 years after women were first allowed to become priests - and almost 40 years since The Church first accepted that there was 'no fundamental objection' to female members of the clergy.

But just two years ago the Archbishop of Canterbury suffered a body blow when a move to overturn the ban was controversially rejected.

Following the vote, MPs threatened to legislate to allow women bishops if the Synod - the church's governing body - did not do so itself.

Justin Welby had even prepared contingency plans to dissolve the Synod and call fresh elections if the vote had gone the wrong way.

But the crisis was averted by a change of mind among lay members of the Church of England.

The previous attempt in November 2012 failed when 74 lay members - Church of England activists who are not part of the clergy - voted against, preventing the required two-thirds majority to remove the ban.

Today's historic vote brings the Church of England into line with Anglican churches in North America, which have allowed women bishops since 2006.

It means the first woman might become a suffragan - or assistant - bishop early next year and her appointment could be announced before the end of the year.

The historic move was passed after receiving two thirds majority needed to get rid of the ban.

Some 37 bishops voted in favour with just two against and one abstention. A further 162 clergy were in favour, 25 against and four abstentions. In the crucial lay votes there were 152 votes in favour, 45 against and five abstentions.

Speaking in the debate the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, said he would 'rejoice' if the measure was passed.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said it was a 'watershed moment for the Church of England and a huge step forward in making our society fairer'.

He said: 'I would like to congratulate the strong leadership that Archbishop Welby has shown on this issue.

'Allowing women to become bishops is another long overdue step towards gender equality in senior positions. I welcome the Church of England’s decision which means that women can now play a full and equal role in the important work of the Church.'

David Cameron added on Twitter: 'I warmly welcome today's vote formally approving women bishops - a great day for the Church and for equality.'

Rev Welby yesterday claimed the first woman bishop could be announced within months.

Inspiring story! ”I Didnt Abo’rt Despite The Shame And Side Talks…Look At Us Today!”
Honestly, I don’t know who this is for but someone needs this. I’ll make this as short as I can.

I’m a regular blog visitor. My name is Inem and I’d like to encourage someone today, here’s my story.
During my industrial attachment (my yr 4), I found out I was 4 months pregnant. It was hell for me because my parents (are) renowned people in church. I made up my mind not to abort and told my then boyfriend.He insisted I aborted but thank God I was ‘stubborn’. I prayed, summoned up courage, went and told my parents….. Damn!!

They were disappointed. Mom cried, never seen her look so disappointed. To cut thE long story short, my expected delivery date (EDD) was March 2012 but school was to resume Dec. 2011.
Remember early 2012 ASUUstrike? it was in my favor, God just made it for me,8 days 2 my EDD, I delivered a beautiful bouncing baby girl….
She’s brought joy and uncountable blessings my way.
News of my pregnancy did spread like wildfire, people said a lot of hurting stuff. The guy responsible for my pregnancy never called for once. He blocked me from all social networks we were on and warned me not to call him.I passed through serious emotional stress. I cried, I prayed, I was down, felt so bad,I even thought of suspending education (it was that bad)…Finally, I prayed for the grace to carry on when I got back to school.
One thing I never did – I didn’t regret keeping that pregnancy!!!


Well, I completed my education. I didn’t give up.. I’m now a graduate of electrical/electronics engineering.. (No extra year).

You see, if you find yourself in a situation that is not death, there is always a way out.
Never give up. Now, though single, I look at my baby with great joy. She’s just a year-plus but a very smart girl. She amazes me. please don’t let life’s situation weigh you down.

The news broke, just like a thunderbolt. Mrs. Rosemary Chukwu, a mother of four, residing at 33, Omolegede street, a suburb of Ikorodu area in Lagos State, abducted a 7yrs old primary School pupil, Emmanuel Emeka, and was about taking him to a den when it was foiled.

Shockingly, the suspect revealed to the bewildered crowd that gathered after she was caught that her pastor is the one who asked her to bring the boy. She mentioned the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy in the same Ikorodu, as her pastor.

The pastor, Ernest Chukwuemeka Nwankwo, 49, was said to be on the run and was later apprehended by the police and and handed over to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Lagos for interrogation. Crime Guard was able to corner the embattled Pastor as he was leaving the confines of police cell at Panti and he gave his own account of the ugly incident. See excerpts below...


INTRODUCTION
“My name is Prophet Ernest Chukwuemeka Nwankwo, from Nsugbe in Anambra East L.G.A, Anambra State. I have a Ministry formerly called Jesus Divine Healing and Deliverance Ministry now called Holy Family, Happy Family Ministry. I was out of Lagos for two weeks. I came back on Tuesday, June 14, and came to my Ministry on Wednesday morning.

My ministry is located at 319, Lagos road, Majudeen in Ikorodu. We carry out prayers and deliverance in the ministry.

The ministry started in 1997. We have no less than 15000 members with a spread in virtually all the major cities in Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. I started as a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement before I established my own ministry. I am 49 yrs.

I do not know how these allegations of ritual actions against me started. My ministry has existed for 17 years and we have never been associated with any bad thing or any untoward allegation. We have been doing well in carrying out God’s work since we came into existence. People troop to our ministry, we organize children’s day for over 30,000 children all over our branches every year. In Ikorodu, we normally have not less than 10,000 children during the day.

We have hosted these children since we stated and we have never had any problem for more than 10 years now. We have equally been doing well in all our activities, we have rehabilitation center where mad people are healed. Relations of such people bring them to our ministry and also stay with them until they are healed after which they will go home. We do not charge them, we feed them free. So, the ministry has been flourishing in all our branches.

“When I got to the office on Wednesday, June 15 to do some work and leave for Abuja for another programme, within 20 minutes, around 7.30am, a group of people, armed with dangerous weapons invaded our ministry, breaking down everything at sight. They also descended on our members who were over 50 in attendance for the morning worship.

They were over 300 and were ferociously destroying all the properties and manhandling everybody. It was like hell was let loose on us. They were armed to the teeth and were unrestrained in their bid to destroy everything in the ministry.

They not only subjected our members to serious beating, they also took all their bags and stripped all the women and children naked. I was inside the office when they invaded the place but they later broke into my office and descended on me. We were all seriously wounded and our bodies covered with blood.

RESCUE
Surprisingly, four of the hoodlums took pity on me and rescued me from their clutches as they were hitting my head with cutlasses and dangerous weapons. They took me to Owutu police station where I made a statement. When they asked me how it started, I could not explain but simply told them that some hoodlums invaded our ministry for no just cause.

It was while we were there that the people that rescued me told us that a woman claimed I sent her to kidnap somebody’s child. It was like a fairy tale to me. Before the police I asked for the identity of the woman and why she claimed I told her to kidnap somebody and they said it was for ritual purposes. After I recovered from the shock, the policemen then advised that I should go and treat myself because I was bleeding profusely as a result of the beating.

I then proceeded to the hospital for treatment only to start reading in the papers the following day a lot of other damaging stories and that I was on the run. I personally reported to the police at Owutu in Ikorodu after treating myself and also personally reported at Panti the following day on a Monday.

AT PANTI
By Thursday morning, unfounded rumours were flying every where. On Friday, while I was going to treat myself, I quickly sent my lawyer to Panti after hearing the rumours flying everywhere about me and that the case was transferred to Panti.

My lawyer told them that I personally reported to the police at Owute after the incident and that I was allowed to go and treat myself. He then wrote an undertaking to produce me the next Monday and we all came to Panti that Monday straight from the General hospital Ikeja where I had an x-ray. Even one of my ribs was said to have cracked and I sustained other serious injuries.

INTERROGATION AT PANTI
I can’t remember seeing or meeting the woman before. A lot of people come to my ministry so, it will be very difficult for me to know all of them. However, the police at Panti interrogated both of us and, in fact, when they brought her before me, I could not remember seeing her in life and I told the policemen this fact. I can’t even remember whether she called me on telephone or not because I cannot say the number of people that call me on telephone for my number is open and given to people freely to help in solving their spiritual problems.

Nevertheless, the police interrogated both of us, she claimed that Holy spirit told her that I should give her N2.5 million, and that she came and told me to give her the money but I told her that I had no money, that she came back again to me and requested for the money and I then told her to go and bring a child before I will give her the money.

I then asked her where we discussed this, if she has any evidence to show that she ever visited my ministry because visitors to the ministry always register their names before seeing me, or if there is any other evidence to show that we discussed that kind of thing. I punctured her story because I cannot understand what concerns me with her message with her Holy spirit.

SUCKING BLOOD
She also claimed that I have been seeing her in the spirit to suck her blood and that of her daughter with two gallons since she failed to bring a child to me. She claimed that I used to stand at her door for two days, tormenting her, and that was why she had to go for the child when she was caught.

I asked her where we met and discussed because I have been out of town for two weeks and how did she know that I came back. She said she was aware that I came back because I used to carry out consultations. It is well known by everybody that my consultation days are announced for members of the public to come and be healed. She also claimed she called me on phone in December last year and that she came to the ministry once this year but she could not substantiate where we discussed her claims.

She was thoroughly interrogated but she kept on contradicting herself as if she was either insane or under a spell. Unfortunately, her daughter she claimed I was sucking her blood with hers whom she said was 14 years was not there during the interrogation.

I had hoped that she was there for us all to be able to decipher what her mother was talking about because she is old enough to speak for her self at 14. I have never had this kind of ugly experience and I pray never to have it again. I also pray that the police should endevour to get to the route of this case because I have suffered so much over a matter I do not know anything about.

KIDNAP SAGA
The man that was shown saying he was kidnapped and brought from Anambra State is one of the mad people undergoing treatment in my ministry. The cousin that brought him to the ministry is Mr. Atuanya, a member of my ministry and his wife has been with him in the ministry while he was undergoing treatment. They are living witnesses and they are ready to testify to anybody that cares to know the truth.

This rumor against me is very painful to me because I suffered for over fourteen years to build this ministry to serve mankind. All of a sudden, and from the pit of hell, an unknown figure materialized from no where to pour odium on me and accuse me of ritual acts. In all these years, nobody has ever complained or petitioned against my activities in the ministry.

Instead, people have been pouring encomiums and giving glory to God for all we have been doing for mankind. The whole thing is still like a dream and I pray I would wake up and testify that it was really a dream. My ministry operates an open door policy, we have no go areas, both visitors and members of the ministry are never restricted even up to my personal office. Why must I send her to bring a child to me when I am happily married with children, what will I do with the child?

Decorum was thrown into the wind on Friday when the Delta State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party and youths suspected to be loyal to the party chairman, beat up and tore the clothes off the wife of the former PDP national chairman, Mrs. Mariam Nneamaka Ali, in broad day light.

The show of shame occurred when Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan was being expected to come and perform the formal commissioning of the newly built state secretariat of the party. It was a presentation of vehicles to the 25 local government party chairmen in the state.

Trouble started at the party secretariat following a heated argument between the state party chairman and the wife of the former PDP national chairman. It was about who should sit where and who should not.

In recalling her ordeal, the wife of the former PDP national chairman, Mrs. Mariam Nneamaka Ali, alleged that as a Board of Trustee member of the party, she had been, on several occasions, ‘sidelined’ by the state party chairman and others.

According to Mariam Ali...

“A PDP stakeholder meeting was held in Abuja and as a Board member member, I was deliberately not invited and just today, another stakeholder meeting was held at the state party secretariat. The same time the same thing happened, I was not informed until someone called me that since I am in town, it will be nice and wise for me to attend, and I went.

On arrival, I saw two vacant seats besides the former deputy governor, Chief Benjamin Elue, and the speaker, Mr. Peter Onwusanya. I quietly seated [myself] and immediately, to my surprise, the MC of the ceremony publicly announced that where I was seated was not meant for me.

“As that was happening, the state party chairman, Peter Nwaoboshi, was called to the scene, and walked up to me, and asked me to stand up from the seat. And before anyone could say, ‘Jack Robinson,’ he gave me several severe slaps on my face, and started fighting me, and I sprang up from my seat in defense and immediately, over a hundred youths gathered and started attacking me, and tore my clothes,” she told Sahara Reports angrily while recalling her ordeal.

Also recalling the incident in the same vein, a former political assistant to the state governor and PDP stalwart, Mr. Okocha Victor, who corroborated Mrs. Ali’s statement, stated that what actually took place shows that ‘the wife of the former PDP national chairman was ganged-up on,’ and made to be humiliated.
He said before now, there was a congress and the party local chairman, the speaker and the state party chairman, Peter Nwaoboshi, manipulated the local government party list. He removed the duly elected executive members after allegedly forging the party’s national legal adviser's signature.

“She was manhandled, humiliated and pushed away. Her gold necklace and other valuables were lost in the process. Chief Solomon Obga, the speaker, former deputy governor, and others, were there but nobody could do anything. Nwaoboshi forgot so soon how he was brought from the trenches, and made what he is today by the same woman he has fought. This was the same woman who made him that he is fighting because of his tall ambition that he will never achieve,” Okocha Victor said.

Yours sincerely posted a picture of Swaziland Virgins performing Reed Dance on my Facebook Wall last night.the post generated a lot of interest and curiosity, in the argument that ensued especially the need of celebrating a culture where women dance with their boob open in this age and modern civilization , a friend alerted me that such culture designed to celebrate purity is not peculiar to people of Swazi Land.

Right here in Nigeria, People of Ogori In Kogi State And Abiriba in Abia state has such culture that encourage there virgins to dance unclad with tiny piece of wrapper covering their womanhood, celebrating purity and Chasity and encouraging women to travel the road less traveled.

In the process of dancing, these maiden send a signal to potential suitors that they are ripe for mating and ready for marriage

I went to work to know more about the unique celebration and this is what I found


Abiriba is a community in South Eastern State in Nigeria . It is an autonomous community with an urban status. Autonomy here implies that it is not under the traditional rulership of any monarch but on its own. It is one of the three communities that make up Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State. It is a community known for her rich display of cultures,customs and traditions among which is the celebration of EKEMBU/IRI NDI known as new yam festival, which is done on every ninth month of the year (September).

Obina Dance Highlight of Abiriba Iri Ndi (new yam) festival is the annual dance of the maidens from Amanta in Ameke community of Abiriba Kingdom,called Nmaku Eziali maidens.This maidens who are also believed to be Virgins,pure and undefined by any man performs this sacred dance and any maiden who is not a virgin from this clan dare not participate in the dance Athough I cannot categorically tell you the repercussion if such happens.
This is the time that the young girls who are now ripe enough for marriage show off their beautiful figures and dancing prowess to young men from Amanta and other prospective husbands from other communities making up the Abiriba Kingdom. There is usually great excitement heralding this dance especially to the young men who sees it as an opportunity to get their brides,as some of them will tie palm fronds on the legs of their desired brides,which is called # Igbai Omu# in the traditional Abiriba language,signifying that the maiden had been taken and other suitors should steer clear and the young man (men) will now take up the marriage proceedings from there.

Civilisation and the embrace of Christianity has changed so many aspects of this dance as in the olden days,the maidens used to dance stark naked showing off their erect and pointed breasts ! Supriseeeeeeed? Though you can still see some of the maidens showing off their breasts while their womanhood is perfectly covered.


The fear of being ostracised from relevant age groups and the prospect of public embarrassment and shame to one’s parents appear to be the beginning of wisdom for young girls in Ogoriland as they grow from infancy and prepare for a place of honour in the compulsory puberty rites otherwise known as Ovia Osese – a yearly festival celebrated by Ogori people.

Ovia Osese is a significant cultural aspect of Ogori, which is one of the notable towns in the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State. In fact, the festival has brought the relatively obscure town into limelight.
Other festivals celebrated annually by the Ogori people include the Igila Ofifi, Ekonmorire, Ema, Ukpe, Edadibi, Idu, and Oke among others. Igila Ofifi is an age-long traditional festival. Its observance involves free use of canes on opponents. Ekonmorire is an annual traditional festival that marks the transition stage of males into adulthood; it is the male version of the Ovia Osese, but allows for less stringent measures against defaulting initiates in home management and health care. These festivals have made parents more responsible by consciously bringing up maidens to meet societal expectations.

Ovia Osese is a period when mothers show off and display their chaste maidens. Parents at this time are proud of their children because they have not brought shame to the family and nobody is pointing accusing fingers at them for not being able to groom the maidens in accordance with the customs and traditions of the people.

The most prominent of the festivals is the Ovia Osese which is for maidens. It involves girls who have attained marriageable age. According to Dr. Krapf Askari, this festival began basically as a family affair but later spread and was adopted by the Ogori people. He said a woman was forced to consult an oracle, Ivia Isiya, as rumour spread that her daughter was wayward. The oracle, however, debunked the allegation against the girl by confirming her virginity. This revelation, it was said, gladdened the heart of the mother and she arranged a grand festival to mark her daughter’s proven chastity.
Ovia Osese festival is the making of the bride; it is a puberty rite to initiate young girls of marriageable age – between the ages of 15 and 19 into womanhood. The festival is designed to herald their arrival into the state of procreation.

P-Square's older brother and manager, Jude Okoye, and his fiancee MBGN Tourism 2012 Ifeoma Umeokeke, who got engaged on April 24th after dating for a few months, have picked July 17th for their traditional wedding. The wedding will hold at the bride's home town in Nnewi, Anambra state. Their white wedding will hold after Ifeoma, who is said to be pregnant, gives birth. Congrats to them.
