A statement signed by Crusoe Osagie, the special adviser to the governor on media and communication strategy, said Mr Obaseki can also experience fatigue and exhaustion, an indisputable fact of life, to which all humans are susceptible. “Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous campaign designed to smear the image of the Edo State Governor, Mr. Governor Obaseki. “The disparagers have populated the internet with photographs of the governor when he momentarily succumbed to fatigue after a long flight, preceded by a chaotic itinerary in Edo State before heading to New York for the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, in the United States of America. “The idle hands and mischievous minds behind the smear campaign against governor Obaseki are clearly not people to be taken seriously.” Mr Osagie said the internet is awash with photographs of outstanding world leaders who have at one time or the other yielded to fatigue at meetings. Highlighting his work schedule prior to the trip, Mr Osagie said despite Mr Obaseki’s rare work culture, unmatched by his peers, “we have never portrayed him as a machine.”

OEPHIUS: Contenders in the governorship race of Lagos state, under platform of All Progress Congress (APC), against former Commissioner for Establishment, who is also an aspirant, would have to battle their ways through an association of 57 chairmen from 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) who had just officially endorsed Sanwo-olu as their preferred candidate ahead of gubernatorial direct primary in the state.
The councils’ chairmen, under aegis of conference 57, unanimously said that they were solidly behind the governorship aspirant, just as they assured that there ware no going back on their actions.
The Chairman, Mainland Local Government, and Chair of Chair, Conference 57, Rasheedat Essien, stated that the members of the association approved the endorsement of Sanwo-olu and that the decision reached was after proper consultation from the state power house.
Speaking during the endorsement of Sanwo-olu on Tuesday in Lagos, Essien, assured the governorship aspirant of unconditional support of the council chairmen during and after the primary election.
She indicated that the struggle to work Sanwo-olu through the direct primary was a fight of the councils’ chairmen since they were the ones in the charge of grass root politics.
According to her, there was no other option other than Sanwo-olu and the governorship aspirant is the chairmen choice of candidate for the state seat of power.
“We members of conference 57 are reaffirming that we are committed to the project and by the grace of god we are going to deliver the state on Saturday, the day fixed for the governorship primaries”
Besides, a group of sole administrators, 57 in their numbers, also joined the train and rallied their support for the governor to be who would be going through the direct primary along side other contenders including the state’s incumbent Governor, Akinwumi Ambode.
Responding to the 57 councils’ chairmen, Sanwo-olu, who commended the association over their support, assured the group that he would run a government that would not leave any group behind and that he would make welfare of Lagosians his priority.
He urged the chairmen to mobilize members of the APC in their various local governments and councils for the direct primary and work more to ensure that he comes victorious in the election.
“I must commend you all for your sacrifice and believe in me, promise you better Lagos and good life once i come into power 2019 but before then, Saturday, the primary election day, is important.
“Saturday is for direct primary for all card carrying member of our great party, APC, lets us all come out, and make your own Sanwo-olu the APC’s governorship candidate in Lagos”.

Suniyamu: The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has had an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari over plea for presidential pardon for former Governor of Old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States), late Prof. Ambrose Alli.
The President has subsequently instructed the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to begin the process.
Governor Obaseki disclosed this during the Memorial Service held in honour of late Prof. Alli at the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, in Emaudo, Ekpoma on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
He said he is optimistic that at the next meeting of the Council on Prerogative of Mercy, the President will officially grant the pardon.
Obaseki also assured that he is working with his Delta State counterpart to set modalities to ensure that pension due to late Alli will be paid to his widow and the family.
The governor lauded the former governor’s development strides while he held sway as the governor of what is now Delta and Edo States, noting that the feats are not just intimidating but showed how much can be achieved in just one term in office.
According to him, “I had an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari while in China and discussed the issue of a presidential pardon for late Prof. Alli and the president asked me to meet with the Attorney General of the Federation. This I have done and have also written to him.”
Delta State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa said Delta State will continue to remember Alli for developing the state and has a lot to thank him for. “We are grateful, as his developmental strides can still be seen, years after his death,” he said.
The former governor’s eldest son, Mr. Andrew Folorunso Alli, who is the Ezomo of Ekpoma, regretted that his late father was still termed a criminal despite his contributions to the development of Delta and Edo states and Nigeria.

Griezwoman: Kenya Immigration Department on Wednesday, arrested 12 Chinese nationals for allegedly engaging in prostitution in Nairobi.
Following an intelligence tip-off, a team of crime-busters comprising DCI and immigration officials raided two houses in South C Estate, Nairobi, in a clean up swoop targeting wanted fugitives, human traffickers and other immigration violators.
The two residential houses are suspected to have been operating as brothels.
The arrested foreigners, 8 girls and 4 men were taken to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for processing and subsequent deportation.
Police records shows that one of the men arrested was watch-listed in May 2017 on suspicion of being involved in prostitution and illegal gambling in Kenya. He was later deported and subsequently banned from ever entering the country again but returned using a different passport.
Their arrest comes months after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’s declared war on illegal immigrants and foreigners doing jobs that should be done by Kenyans.

9Ebiscoo: Michael Bloomberg appears to be focusing on 2020.
The former New York City mayor, best known for his liberal-Republican-turned-Independent stance, is reportedly planning to run for president in the next election.
Bloomberg, who also considered Independent runs for office in 2008, 2012, and 2016, will run as a Democrat in 2020 and challenge Donald Trump, The Times of London reports.
A source close to the British publication confirmed that the 76-year-old billionaire is allegedly making a run for the White House.
“Mike Bloomberg told me he is going to run in 2020,” the source told the newspaper. “He has the money to see it through while other candidates knock themselves out.”
Representatives for Michael Bloomberg did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
In a separate report by The New York Post, Bloomberg announced in June during a fundraiser that he would be returning to this polls, but this time, for the Oval Office.
“Before you leave I want to get your cell phone number,” he told attendees at the end of his speech, “because I’m thinking of getting the band back together.” His comment was well-received, reports the publication, as the audience applauded for the man who they believed was expressing interest in a presidential run.

Added the three-term mayor: “When I look at the data, it’s clear to me that if I entered the race, I could not win. I believe I could win a number of diverse states — but not enough to win the 270 Electoral College votes necessary to win the presidency.”

At the Democratic convention in July 2016, Bloomberg poked fun at Trump’s The Apprentice background, claiming that this was “not reality television; it was reality,” The New York Post reported.
He went on to refer to President Trump as “a dangerous demagogue” and a “risky, reckless, and radical choice,” advising the audience to vote Clinton who he claimed was a “sane competent person with international experience.”
Although Bloomberg has vocally disagreed with the current president, a representative from Trump’s team reportedly admitted to the New York-based publication in August that the former mayor would pose the biggest threat for a re-election.
“If I were a Democrat strategist and somebody said to me, ‘Who do you want to be the Democrat nominee for president of the United States?’ there’s only one name I would choose and his name is Michael Bloomberg,” former Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski said.
“Mike Bloomberg created tens of thousands of jobs over the course of his lifetime,” he continued. “That is a story the American people like and he’s an outsider. I think it would be a very competitive race.”
