Man lost his father and shop to Ochanja market, Onitsha fire .

A man has announced that he lost his father to the Ochanja market, Onitsha fire which also consumed their shop.

The man, Gerald Ifeanyi Ogbuagu revealed that he lost his father after he had initially sent out a distress message saying his father has been missing since the fire which consumed their shop in Ochaja market, Onitsah, Anambra state.

Ogundele David, the killer of an MTN staff identified as Abiola Tosin Ashinwo has been sentenced to death by hanging by a Kwara State High Court.
The convict who was handed the death sentence after over 3 years of legal battle, was convicted on two count charge. .

Giving his account of the incident in court, the convict said “On the 25th April, 2016, I woke up and prepared for work but to my surprise I never knew how I found myself in Ilorin, I can never explain how it happened because I really prepared to go to work. .
. “Since I’m now in Ilorin, I called my legal wife on phone that she should get dressed that I will take her to Omu-Aran that morning…. I got to Tosin house, since her mum was around, I felt like saying hello to her.
“I got there that morning. We exchanged pleasantries. .
.
. Her mum said she was happy to see me and we discussed for few minutes. Suddenly, the atmosphere changed and an argument began and before I knew it, I have stabbed her (Tosin) and her mum. Then, I came to myself, it was like a scale off my eyes…” . .

Ogundele who was found guilty of stabbing Ashinwo who rejected his marriage proposal with the intention of causing her death, is to serve a 25 years jail term for the offence.
On causing the death of Ashinwo by stabbing her with a knife and thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 221 of the penal code law, Ogundele was sentenced to death by hanging

Big Brother Naija reality show ex-housemate, Diane Russet, has said she never expected the overwhelming level of love and support the people of her home state, Kaduna, gave her when she left the house after 93 days.

According to Diane, coming from a conservative background, and being the first ever female housemate from the north, she had thought her participation in the reality TV show would be met, at best with criticism and mild hostility from her people.

Sharing some of her experiences from the house and her reception outside the house with Channels TV, the Kaduna State indigene said:

The love I have received from my state has been the best.

I didn’t expect it this way. I thought I’d be judged or criticized but the fact that I get calls and people say I made them proud, I made the northern part proud and some even say their daughters look up to me, is amazing.

The ebony skinned reality TV star, who was also one of the youngest Big Brother Naija housemates, said the experience in the house was amazing and she has also come home to receive overwhelming love from fans.

Speaking about her friendship with fellow housemate, Elozonam, she explained that both of them are great friends and for now are only looking forward to knowing each other better and working together.

It had been an intriguing and eventful 99 days, starting with 26 housemates, each serving their own dose of ‘pepper’ along the way.

From the occasional fights, drama and controversy, to the tasking arena games, Friday night parties, celebrity visits and surprise evictions, the show most definitely served up enough pepper and spice that left the audience glued to their screens and constantly sparked conversations among Nigerians, especially on social media.

On the final day, host Ebuka-Obi Uchendu was in his element and made sure to take the suspense up a notch, making the most of the last of 99-drama filled days before declaring Mercy the winner to wild cheers from her supporters.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has claimed that the Federal Capital Territory was safe, secure and not under any form of siege.

His assertion is coming after reports of abductions and rise in theft of vehicles across the city sparked panic among residents about an upsurge in crime rate within and around the nation’s capital.

About five persons including a lecturer with Baze University, Jabi, had been reported kidnapped in Abuja, on Saturday.

While the police rescued the lecturer, the family of a victim, Miss Aisha Ardo, reportedly coughed out $15,000 in bitcoins to secure her release on Sunday night.

Two teenagers returning from an Islamic school at Wuse zone 6, around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday were also said to have been abducted. The names of the victims could not be immediately ascertained.

Also feared abducted was Mrs. Hannah Azuibuike who was reportedly taken away near Habiba plaza, Maitama, around 8:30 p.m
