Foreign AffairsRe: Elon Musk: How Many Countries Tax Their Citizens And Send Money To The US? by Ankakh: 8:11am On Feb 05, 2025
This Musk is not acting as if he understands anything about geopolitics. That's what happens when you buy an election with a quarter of a billion dollars and you get in bed with conspiracy theorists.

Does he thinks it's free money? That's one part. The other part is that it's the Americans that enjoys the money more than the countries they are supposedly funding: from their scientists to farmers to intelligence gathering and diplomatic support etc.

We'll see how well this whole drama lasts.
HealthRe: US, UK Patients Now Seek Medical Care In Nigeria - Minister Of Health, Pate by Ankakh: 8:06am On Feb 05, 2025
Thie comment by the Minister looks more like propaganda.

But no doubt, Nigerian medical practioners are doing the best they can despite a terrible working condition.
Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Withdraws US From The UN Human Rights Council, Halts Funding For UNRWA by Ankakh: 8:03am On Feb 05, 2025
Trump’s first administration cut funding to the agency in 2018 before the Biden administration restarted it again in 2021.

The first Trump administration also withdrew the US from the UN’s Human rRghts Council in 2018 and the Biden administration rejoined the body three years later.
Continuous drama. How is this stable leadership? Imagine running an ordinary house like this?
PoliticsRe: 2027: Northern Leaders, Coalition Proponents Write Off PDP by Ankakh: 9:23am On Feb 04, 2025
Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune confirmed that the leaders across the North and South, who have been meeting in the last three months, have come to a conclusion that the PDP was becoming a dead horse and that the governors, who hold the ace in the party, could no longer be relied upon to play the major opposition roles in 2027.
Opposition does not and should not start in 2027. If PDP have anything to oppose, they should start now. Carefully and strategically. You can't wait for every election cycle before you begin your opposition. Does not work.

There are policies and norms to oppose in this current administration and you can focus on that. Then PDP should use that to promote their own agenda. Wait, do they even have an agenda? Or at the least, some good rhetorics?

"....just as are reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan could be considered as a possible option, especially, looking at the contention in some quarters that you may have to confront a southern candidate with another candidate from the South,”
All these speculators with their speculations every eke market day about GEJ's presidential ambition.

Abeg, oga Jona. Please continue your globe-trotting for the good of Africa and the world, and representing Nigeria in the best way possible. Leave domestic policies. You have come, you have seen and you have conquered.
PoliticsRe: You Are Heating Up The Polity – Sunday Dare El-Rufai, Amaechi, Others by Ankakh: 9:15am On Feb 04, 2025
“Expectedly, it was a gathering convened to further spread ill-will. Nothing new came out of the gathering different from the opposition script we are used to. A few of the participants went overboard in their vitriol, fanning the embers for adopting undemocratic actions. These political gladiators have antecedents that are well known.
Plenty repeated grammar. How is opposing government and party policies "fanning the embers for adopting undemocratic actions"?

That we're of the same party does not mean we can't disagree constructively. Even family members disagree.
PoliticsRe: APC Pegs Anambra Governorship Nomination Form At ₦‎50 Million by Ankakh: 9:12am On Feb 04, 2025
Okay, some discounts for the "minorities" but 50m for nomination form is outrageous in a country where minimum wage is less than 1 million naira per annum.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Blocks Export Permits Of Oil Producers Not Meeting Local Refinery Quotas by Ankakh: 9:10am On Feb 04, 2025
Good one. Meet local demands before exporting.
PoliticsRe: LP Rep Member, Olanrewaju George, Defects To APC by Ankakh: 12:31am On Feb 04, 2025
"Everywhere you look, you see the glaring need for quality representation and APC is bridging the gap in these areas."
Just defect and leave story oga.

Until politicians are made to pay heavy consequences for de-camping, there would be no opposition party in this country again.
PoliticsRe: Constitution Allows Muslims In South West States To Set Up Shariah Panels — JNI by Ankakh: 12:29am On Feb 04, 2025
JNI, being led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, noted that Section 275 of the 1999 Constitution grants states the authorityp to establish Sharia courts, and by extension, Shariah panels.
States should be the ones setting this up, not Muslim communities. JNI, what are you on about?

I wonder how the Supreme Court will rule if this case gets traction.
PoliticsRe: Extortion Traps: How Policemen, Govt Agents Turn Lagos Roads To Daily Nightmares by Ankakh: 8:48am On Feb 03, 2025
It's a deliberate action. Government has encouraged this bad habit from law enforcement to stay on the road and cause more problems for commuters as if the daily problems are not enough.

Even if people gang up and deal with these officers in an area, it would only embolden them because there is no correction from the top and they believe they are above the law. What a shame! This is not law and order. It's chaos upon chaos.
PoliticsRe: Brace Up For Fresh Electricity Tariff Hike, FG Tells Nigerians by Ankakh: 8:42am On Feb 03, 2025
What exactly are citizens now benefitting from this government? It can't all be sob stories daily.
PoliticsRe: Did Discos Quietly Increase Tariffs?! (Screenshots) by Ankakh: 8:40am On Feb 03, 2025
These tariffs policies keep getting worse and before you say pim, FG will say Nigerians pay the least in electricity bills. They will conveniently ignore reports that over 130 million Nigerians live in poverty or near poverty levels.

May God bless the good work of everyone.

Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Rips Biden, Democrats For DC Plane Crash, Blames Unqualified FAA Employees by Ankakh: 8:33am On Jan 31, 2025
Trump has never taken responsibility for any failure. Everyone forgotten his COVID handling so quick? And now, he's got the right punching bag: DEI policies.

America got what they wanted. FAFO!

Just a note as well that DEI is not just about gender, race is also a prominent part. And he made a reference to that in his speech.

On the other side, DEI push by liberal administrations like Biden needed a good balance, not this one that Trump is doing. because if anything, they must have been doing some things right since there has been no plane crash in 16 years.
PhonesRe: OpenAI's ‘o3-mini’ Will Be Free For All Users by Ankakh: 8:23am On Jan 31, 2025
DeepSeek seems to have forced the hands of OpenAI. Looking forward to this AI battle and most importantly, how it benefits the users.

If you want to know more about how DeepSeek R1 has changed the dynamics of artificial intelligence, especially generative AI (and don't mind a fast American speaker), watch this -

PoliticsRe: IG's Stay In Office Lawful Despite Retirement Age - AGF by Ankakh: 8:05am On Jan 31, 2025
“The appointment of Egbetokun, which took effect from 31st October 2023, would have ordinarily ended upon his attainment of 60 years of age on 4th September 2024.

“However, before his retirement age, the Police Act was amended to allow the occupant of the office to remain and complete the original four-year term granted under Section 7(6) of the Act, notwithstanding the fact that he has attained the age of 60,” Fagbemi stated.
Very convenient. The amendment was done in 2024 and even though the provisions favored some officers of the force, the main idea seems to be to ensure that the IGP finishes his tenure.

Additionally, human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, who also described Egbetokun’s continued stay in office as illegal, was arrested and charged with cybercrimes.
Critics getting arrested is the proof of a banana republic. But to be fair, the IGP's continued stay in office is not illegal. It's approved by the amended Police Act of 2024. Those that deserve the anger are those who approved it in the first place.

These drone pictures did some justice to this development. Hope it's maintained and the students given some reasonable education.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu, Akande At Atiku's Son & Nuhu Ribadu's Daughter's Wedding by Ankakh: 7:57am On Jan 31, 2025
Amotolongbo:
They align when it is the time to share money and foods. We fall apart when it is time to elect them.
The fact is that they don’t really care about us.
Well said.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu, Akande At Atiku's Son & Nuhu Ribadu's Daughter's Wedding by Ankakh: 7:56am On Jan 31, 2025
This is the first picture coming out of the wedding between the son of former Nigeria's Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the daughter of former EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu.

In attendance were APC Chieftain Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other dignitaries
Fast forward some 3 years and BAT is the President (triumphing over Atiku) while Nuhu Ribadu is the NSA. The game is the game.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Not Pleased Osinbajo Contested Presidency Against Tinubu – Akande by Ankakh: 7:53am On Jan 31, 2025
“He didn’t tell me so,” he said. “I asked him many questions, including whether he instigated Osinbajo to contest against Tinubu. He said no and explained that, in his culture, when your mentor is interested in a position, you don’t contest with him.”
It's thinking like this that hinders development for any country or organization. No questions, elders should be respected but the young should be encouraged and given a chance by those same elders.
PoliticsRe: ‘Nigeria Is Bleeding’ – Adamawa Governor, Fintiri by Ankakh: 7:50am On Jan 31, 2025
He called on the Federal Government to focus on policies that do not bring further pain to Nigerians.
“The country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” he said.
We all know that but talk is cheap. In your corner in Adamawa, how are you making things different YE?

PoliticsRe: EFCC, Bidders Disagree Over Car Auction by Ankakh: 8:23am On Jan 30, 2025
“Those that are alleging non-transparency are just being economical with the truth. The auction process was electronic and open bidding. There is no way of any extraneous influence or intervention. The allgation is unfounded, it can neither be supported by fact nor logic. Everybody that participated gave a remark that they were able to get; some even said they were outbid.”
EFCC said this? Maybe whoever said this has not seen the reports. Instead of going to investigate and actually investigate, they say the public that bidded and now commented don't know what they are saying. Funny lots!
PoliticsRe: FG Secures $1.1 Billion AFDB Loan To Provide Electricity For 5 Million People by Ankakh: 8:18am On Jan 30, 2025
These guys just pull figures out of thin air. Electricity for 5 million people? Where? Generation or Transmission? Loans to discos or what exactly.

It's not impossible but, maybe Ministry of Power have a plan to achieve this. If there is a plan, is it public information? It just makes sense to make these goals clear and measurable, so we can all work towards it. If there is no plan, how did you convince AFDB for that loan size?
BusinessRe: Cash Withdrawal Chaos Frustrates Nigerians As ATMs Fail And POS Operators by Ankakh: 8:15am On Jan 30, 2025
The fact that POS operators charge a premium for withdrawal and banks also charge on multiple withdrawals and you don't get to withdraw sufficient all shows that CBN and FG do not seem to have the best interest of Nigerians at heart. It's simply heartless. Imagine areas where POS are far and ATMs are farther from communities. Again, the leaders do not seem affected by this terrible inconvenience, so there won't be serious outcry.

If the cashless policy is behind this, it's very limited thinking. Nigeria has not raised enough infrastructure to achieve this. Cash is still very important on the streets.
