PoliticsRe: FG Sets Aside ₦27 Billion For Obasanjo, Gowon, Buhari, Others In 2025 by Ankakh: 11:30am On Dec 21, 2024
If FG is asking Nigerians to tighten their belts, they should also tighten theirs.

Let them lead by example but it's like we're asking too much.
PoliticsRe: Port Harcourt Refinery Shuts Down Again After $1.5bn Rehabilitation - Punch by Ankakh: 11:28am On Dec 21, 2024
Those who knew better already said the news about the PH refinery working is like the news about Nigerian Air. We shall all be fine las las.

It would have been better if the FG have transfered the money (just this last $1.5bn used in refurbishing the refinery this time) to the individual account of Nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Weaponized Poverty: 35 Children Dead In Ibadan Stampede, Who’s To Blame ? by Ankakh: 11:22am On Dec 21, 2024
It's sad and the blame will go round well enough, but it won't bring back the dead. Maybe it will prevent future deaths but in a country with failing numbers on all development indices AND politicians continue to award contracts and ridiculous budget line items to themselves, won't hold my breath.
PoliticsRe: Northern Leaders Failed Despite 40 Years In Power – Dogara by Ankakh: 11:19am On Dec 21, 2024
Good to hear Northerners speaking to themselves. Hopefully, they will learn and adjust. Words are not enough.
Foreign AffairsRe: Saudi Man Arrested After Deadly Car Attack On German Christmas Market Magdeburg by Ankakh: 11:17am On Dec 21, 2024
It's attacks like this that cause people to hate on Muslims. Especially when fellow muslims and leaders will not condemn these actions.
PhonesRe: Appeal Court Fines MTN N15 Million Over Unsolicited Messages by Ankakh: 5:50pm On Dec 20, 2024
Morbeta11:
The Appeal Court agreed with the High Court that the claimant had complained to MTN and made a personal complaint to its customer care team.

https://nairametrics.com/2024/12/20/appeal-court-fines-mtn-n15-million-over-unsolicited-messages-and-caller-tunes-on-lawyers-phone/
That part is very important. The claimant had already complained to the Telco and it was documented and yet, MTN kept sending the messages. Judge referred to it as "unlawful enrichment".

Kudos to the man for fighting this case to this point.
RomanceRe: Is Loneliness The Price I Will Pay To Become A Successful Woman? by Ankakh: 12:17pm On Dec 20, 2024
This life is all about choices and consequences. Cause and effect. Sowing and reaping.

What matters most to you now and what will matter to you 50 years from now? This decision will influence your choices.

May the Force be with you!
PoliticsRe: NNPCL Declares Over ₦‎3.29 Trillion In Profits by Ankakh: 12:13pm On Dec 20, 2024
These numbers (from NNPC) always look bogus.

So they made this much in revenue, great. Kudos. That link does not share the details of their balance sheet or is that supposed to be private?

TravelRe: How Much Does It Cost To Get A Nigerian Passport And How Quickly? by Ankakh: 9:55pm On Dec 19, 2024
Best option is to know someone that knows someone that can fast-track it.

In any case, if you're in Lagos, go to Festac and lay in wait for the head as if you want to make a complaint.

If not in Lagos, go to Ekiti, heard it is faster there for a while.

All the best!
PoliticsRe: Photos From Seyi Tinubu's E-Library Commissioning by Ankakh: 9:52pm On Dec 19, 2024
Nice positioning.

At least, he's building it in Nigeria. Hopefully, it will be impactful for the community and the country.

How have I missed it all these years?
SportsRe: Anger In Morocco Over Lookman Beating Hakimi To African Player Of The Year Award by Ankakh: 9:07am On Dec 19, 2024
robosky02:
Moroccan sports analyst Tawfiq Al-Sanhaji told 365scores: "It is a great regret for all Moroccan fans, and for all those who follow football in Morocco, because Achraf Hakimi presented distinguished levels throughout the year with the Moroccan national team and Paris Saint-Germain."

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=54024
North Africans, how far?

First, Salah. Now, Morocco?

Achraf is popular but his club and country did not have that much result as compared to Lookman's success in the past year. There is no special consideration or calculation, just pure results.

Maybe CAF should start making their voting public like FIFA.
PoliticsRe: Edo State Governor Hosts Mc Oluomo (Video) by Ankakh: 9:00am On Dec 19, 2024
Nigeria our country.

Since Union don reach and now standing strong in Abuja, what else should we expect?
PoliticsRe: Tax Reform Bills Will See Light Of Day – NASS Assures Tinubu by Ankakh: 8:57am On Dec 19, 2024
First, there should be an independent non-partisan body in Nigeria that will be dissecting bills like this.

Cos it's increasingly difficult to know what's good or not, when it comes to policies by the Nigerian government.

zero8zero:
“These reforms will not only improve Nigeria’s revenue profile but also create a more conducive and internationally competitive business environment, transforming our tax system to support sustainable development.

https://dailypost.ng/2024/12/18/tax-reform-bills-will-see-light-of-day-nass-assures-tinubu/?
Secondly, why does it look like this NASS is always doing rubber-stamp for the President?
SportsRe: Marta Beats Oshoala To FIFA Best Goal Of 2024 By Just 2 Points by Ankakh: 8:54am On Dec 19, 2024

PoliticsRe: Debt Servicing To Gulp ₦‎15.81trillion In 2025 Budget — Tinubu by Ankakh: 10:05pm On Dec 18, 2024
This number is not numbering.

Budget is galloping and debt servicing follows hard. Don't be deceived though with that supposed 30%. Before you know it, another number is out. And everything becomes muddled up.

The koko of the matter is simple: more/higher taxes for the masses whose "take home pay" is not taking them home.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Didn’t Remove Fuel Subsidy, He Cared About Nigerians – Femi Adesina by Ankakh: 10:01pm On Dec 18, 2024
From this his statement now, are we to understand that if Buhar is 'friend of the poor', the man that succeeded him is 'friend of the rich'?

If the past president cared for the masses and not remove fuel subsidy, then the current president DOES NOT CARE for the masses.

Is that about right?

One thing about politicians is that they can always count on the masses having short-term memory. Funny lots!
SportsRe: CAF Player Of The Year, Ademola Lookman Express Gratitude In Yoruba (Video) by Ankakh: 10:19am On Dec 18, 2024
Correct guy!

Switching his nationality to play for Nigeria paid off big time for him and Nigeria. Now, on to greater things.

Very well-deserved victory and honor for VJ7 and Real Madrid.

Hopefully he can improve his form and drop the on-pitch provocations
PoliticsRe: Edo State's Bid To Control ₦‎800m Security Fund Linked To Suspension Of Chairmen by Ankakh: 10:00am On Dec 18, 2024
Umarnuhu1990:
“If state governments can freeze council accounts and remove elected officials whenever they refuse to play ball, then local democracy is dead. This is sadly about control of the public treasury, not leadership.”

https://www.signalng.com/edo-governors-bid-to-control-n800m-security-fund-linked-to-suspension-of-local-government-chairmen/
We know this. They know this. The country will be fine las las.
BusinessRe: Banks Restrict Multiple Account Owners To N20,000 Withdrawal by Ankakh: 9:58am On Dec 18, 2024
Cash scarcity but almost all the 500 and 1000 notes had 2024 as their print date. Nigeria!

Cash scarcity in a country that has only 45% of 15+ having an account with a financial institution.

Cashless policy is good but the country is just not ready.

PoliticsRe: ECOWAS Approves Niger, Burkina Faso And Mali's Exit by Ankakh: 9:53am On Dec 18, 2024
Why are people blaming Tinubu? (Maybe for cruise sha) but expelling those countries was necessary. And there are conditions if they want to come back. It's all just normal geopolitical stuff.

Even Nigeria got sanctioned during the military days. Nothing special.

CrimeRe: Nigerians Paid N2.23trn Ransom To Kidnappers In 12 Months – NBS by Ankakh: 10:39pm On Dec 17, 2024
Islie:
"The low reporting rates extended to kidnappings as well, with many victims believing that police intervention would not lead to meaningful action."

https://leadership.ng/nigerians-paid-n2-23trn-ransom-to-kidnappers-in-12-months-nbs/
This part is sad to read. Hopeful that the Nigerian Police will one day rise to the challenge of securing lives in Nigeria. Yes, we know they are understaffed and underpaid but what's the point of them if they can't do their jobs?

Might be interesting to see what the numbers are in previous years cos it seems like evildoers have seen a cashcow.
