The Chinese have no time for niceties. They see what's good and where they are welcome, and they head on strong with their resources. This currency swap deal with China looks good for Nigeria. The important thing is that it should actually make our import-export arrangement with China on a national and corporate level better. Nigeria should also take a cue from China on how to deal decisively with corrupt officials, and reduce the leakages of the benefits of deals like this. |
Governor Sanwo-Olu is working to make Lagos better. At least, he's got roads to commission (not to talk of the red and blue lines coming mainstream as well as other developments like the food distro centres). I just hope that the drainage system of these newly-commissioned roads are much better to reduce the flooding in that area during the rainy season. |
It's normal that there are lots of applications. We only continue to hope the process will be well managed and as meritorious as possible. |
This is good. Let's see how it improves distribution and maybe contribute to reducing food inflation in Lagos and surrounding states. Maybe other states can copy this system. But wait, is this from IGR or PPP? Hopefully, not from more loans. |
Bobloco:The level of food inflation in Nigeria is ridiculous. Just 3 years ago, it was not upto 50k. And within 6 months (of even the minister's announcement), it has gone up by 15k again. This is not sustainable. All these challenges are solvable. |
Zamfara though. What's causing these incessant attacks in that region? Mineral resources? Cos it can't be religious. |
Sanwo doing the talk... |
Man102:Obviously, the ranking is not based on military hardware alone nor victories over terrorists. Nevertheless, the Nigerian military is doing a great job. Hopefully, they are able to root out those terrorists from our borders. |
Splashme:I am wondering that what's this man saying. Those policies that this present admin has done came directly from the IMF and WB playbook and recommendations, which are prerequsites to the loans they are giving Nigeria. |
What are the citizens of this country enjoying from the government exactly? |
This is well deserved for Messi. Greater things he can still achieve on and off the pitch. |
chatinent:Harsh but very true. |
Good to see. Hachets buried, eyes onward. |
AmazingGenius:Dr Gills-Harry, I think the question will be, exactly how much are we going to be buying fuel at the pump station if FG provides this 100bn naira intervention fund to your association? |
zero8zero:More success to the Nigerian military to totally decimate these terrorists, but hopefully they can get to their backers and sponsors. |
t2luv1:I think what some mean when they say this (even though the numbers do not agree with them) is that the indicators of the common folks are not looking right such as prices of groceries, gas, housing etc. So national/provincial/state economic numbers do not matter to everyday people, as much as it matters to the government. |
Nefort:True. Poverty is everywhere in this world. From New York to LA. From Tokyo to Toronto. From Berlin to Singapore. From London to Morocco etc. Whereever people are settled, there will always be the haves and the have-nots. Political leaders have a big role to play to reduce poverty and increase human development BUT at the end, everyone must find their way. |
Education is not a guarantee of anything but it's still an important aspect of life. The ability to start small with the necessary skills, desire to learn and network have larger roles to play in forging a career. And yes, the economy matters in creating jobs and these numbers should be better for China. But it's difficult to use a few examples to conclude that over-education is worrying the most populous nation on this planet. Another thing is expectation. A master's holder will want a job that commensurate with their "education" but it's very possible they don't have basic work and professional skills, which they could have acquired while in school via internship and voluntary service. |
She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology from Yale University and she works part-time as a cancer research technician at the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. That's very interesting. Playing football is enough of a full-time job but it's like she has an extra passion for cancer research. |
“Enforcement is the backbone of effective regulation. We are revamping our investigative processes to enhance efficiency and hold bad actors accountable more decisively."Saying it is one thing, doing it is totally another thing. How SEC will enforce crackdowns and justice against Ponzi schemers is what I'll love to see. Plus Ponzi schemers will continue to have a field day due to the lack of financial intelligence of the populace, and this is not limited to Nigeria. |
dre11:Opposition does not mean standing against the party at the federal level, there is no wisdom in that. A Governor can visit the president and the president can commission state projects of the governor of a different party. But I hope one day, National Assembly can crush this cross-carpeting by polticians once they are in office. Maybe then, we can have some sanity in the political space. |
Economic reforms indeed at the expense of people's live and livelihood. Una try o! Anyways, tech skills are still saving the day for the savvy and interested. Check my signature to know more. |
This thread shows some no dey believe any word from Aso Rock. Now, they have to be fact-checked on the spot if not, lies will be the order of the day. |
adenigga:Aso Rock wants Nigerians to sacrifice, which should be fine if we are all benefit from the returns in the future BUT it becomes difficult to accept that reality when Aso Rock and its occupants continue to enjoy the benefits of government at the expense of the people. It's like a father telling the family to sacrifice but he continues to eat large. And what economic benefit is this spokesman referring to? Before anyone argues that they have been taking these "trips" before getting to Aso Rock, that's also part of the sacrifice. Stay in Nigeria and use the medical facilities here. |
yoruboid: |
LegendHero:This governement just tries to sugarcoat everything with outrageous packaging. Time will tell if the refinery is doing what it is said to do. Just that a lot of money would have gone under the carpet in that timeframe unfortunately. |
Thanks for sharing. Good things to note especially how both states conduct business. |
Good. |
Leobankx:Corpers are not involved here but NYSC should stop posting corpers to these hot zones and save parents and guardians unnecessary tears. They just re-opened the Zamfara camp this past December. |
Morbeta11:Words are good. Until they translate into action, it does not make much meaning and does not help anyone. |
It's unfortunate though for the dead and injured but it looks like their online feud just played out in real life. |
fergie001:As good as this is for workers, this is a recipe for steady inflation rise. |
