What a loss! May the Lord comfort the family. |
Will Trump ever hear? The argument that tariffs are a strategic good and Republicans and Trump supporters are twisting themselves every angle to rationalize it tells me all I need to know. Tariffs will hurt Americans more than it will hurt Mexico, Canada or China. Those bringing the goods from these countries into the US will pay the tariffs quite alright, but a product that will normally sell for $1 will now sell for $1.25 or more and so on. This does not make sense economically, in the short or long term. But Trump will continue to play macho man to the detriment of the country. I wonder how that makes America great. |
This problem of paying premiums for the naira started under Emefiele and has been allowed to continue by the current administration. Nigeria has not reached that cashless level that we desire, so cash must be made available at the bank. Reducing naira cashflow won't strengthen the naira against the dollar. |
This is why prisoners (especially those that have stayed there for more than 6 months) should go through some form of re-orientation by state (with support from private organizations) before being absorbed into the society. |
These bandits need to be put out of business totally and without mercy. Enough is enough! |
The attacker was reportedly shot by civilians. No time for nonsense. Even though their security services let down their guard (maybe not intentionally) but citizens say no to terrorists. Good riddance. |
No doubt, Barron Trump knows the game: (His father acknowledged him publicly and he took it like a champ and a bit more). Did I hear humble? Hmm. Did I hear smart? Lol! He's got the right last name, some brand identity and a lot of dough to play with. |
“So the budget we’re about to discuss today is not a significant worth of the time of all of us in this room, because these budgets cannot deliver on the mandate that we should be working for our nation.”Erm, Honorable minister sir, so why are you in a ministry budget defence meeting with a National Assembly committee if not to defend the budget of your ministry? That should be worth something. Words matter. Don't throw it anyhow. Reviewing the 2024 budget performance, he revealed that only ₦1.2 billion of the ₦2.9 billion capital budget had been released, representing a mere 39% of the total allocation, explaining that this shortfall had significantly hampered the ministry’s ability to implement its plans.I believe Maths is not supposed to the problem of a Minister like Hon Bosun Tijani. Tijani also attributed the recent 50% increase in telecommunications tariffs to global inflation and rising operational costs, adding that the decision aligns with broader economic patterns, where tariffs can lead to higher consumer prices due to the added costs on imported goodsWe know this but our Telcos have almost milked citizens dry in no small way so they don't need to add to the headache with petrol and inflation. Speaking to journalists moments after defending his Ministry’s budget of N12 billion for 2025 Tijani... further explained that the Federal Government is planning to invest six billion naira to deploy ninety thousand kilometres of fibre optic cable, expanding the country’s capacity from 35,000 kilometres to 125,000 kilometers. This according to him is an initiative aimed at fostering growth in critical communication sectors. This is good. Exact timelines will be better, so the people can know when this will be done and at what cost. “However, if you look at the appropriation bill, you will find that one of the things that we’ve done is travelling all over the world and engaging with the World Bank is to believe that we should create opportunities for our sector, that we must create opportunities for stakeholders in this sector by ensuring that Nigeria can significantly invest in the strong backbone to drive the growth that we need to see.”I don't understand this man. So you spent your initial capital budget to be travelling all around the world and engaging with the World Bank? Am I missing something? |
In the latest scandal, DAILY NIGERIAN exclusively gathered that a member of staff of the commission, simply identified as Polycarp, vanished into a thin air when he failed to account for “over $30,000”.Let's not get into the conspiracy theories that surrounds EFCC but "vanished into thin air", come on Nigerian media! |
"As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female," Trump said during his inaugural address earlier on Monday. Two things can be right. 1. There are only 2 genders. There will only be 2 genders. (And yes, I know, there are some very few medically-proven conditions but it's not the norm). 2. DEI programs are also necessary especially in a country that once had slaves and natives fully marginalized. Over the centuries, non-whites have had it tough and rough in the US. DEI programs made it possible to TRY to level the playing field based on merit and nothing else. Data shows how much blacks, browns and Asians are doing their best to get higher education and skills to contribute to the economy. There is no reason why they should not have equal opportunities. Cos I don't understand why non-white citizens holding relevant qualifications with verifiable credentials not get the same callbacks as their white counterparts. He could have clearly have signed an EO saying there can only be 2 genders but still maintain the necessity for non-discrimination for any race or gender. This EO among others show how racist Trump is. Hopeful he does not get to Hitler's level. |
“We are assuring you, Mr. President of our 100 percent votes in the State come 2027 presidential election, and if possible, we will give you more than 100 percent,” he declared.Mr Governor, we know you're happy to be in this position and aligned with the power at the centre and to receive some presidential attention, but it's statement like this that truncates democracy and cause havoc during elections. 100% vote. How na? |
When Hitler started in 1936-ish with his rash actions to what became the 2nd world war, he definitely had supporters. Until the whole house came crashing down. Everyday Germans today look at the US and Trump in that same way. Perilious slope. |
NCC, you no try. This is not necessary at this point at all. Let Nigerians breathe abeg! |
All these Chinese officials look very young when compared to the Nigerian delegation. Anyways, China continues to be very strategic in their approach in Africa. |
The EO banning birthright citizenship is unconstitutional. But with a right-leaning SCOTUS, it can be dragged for a while. But to be effective, it will have to be codified in the US constitution, which won't be easy. Does he know how much the US economy will be losing by stopping this? And this is the man that knows business... Lol! |
Let's not forget that he disbanded the WH pandemic team in 2018. COVID came and he couldn't keep the US safe. All hell broke lose over silly arguments like masks, social distancing and later on the vaccine that became very political and cultural. The US presidency is not where you rush in and break things because of how you feel. Small changes always has big repercussions. |
Comments here show people don't even know how these global agencies work. I don't think Trump likes good advise. Not even sure he can recognize one when he sees it. EO does not mean much in some global affairs. But let's assume it means much, why not leave the UN and NATO as well? |
As a former Nigerian leader has said, if insecurity persists in a country, it's because the leaders support it. Maybe directly or indirectly. This insecurity in certain parts of the country is being supported at very high levels with international cooperation. A few security consultants have also come out over the past 5 years or so to confirm that. Nigeria needs to rise above this to achieve her potential. |
Would have been nice that those in power also experience loss of power but this is a security catastrophe. Yes, Aso Rock and the Three-Arms zone will have backup power but it's still a security flop. How did vandals get access and cart away such high-powered cables in a convenient timeframe? Seems this Minister of Power does not like his job, or maybe some people want him gone by force. |
I've always known that December fuel price reduction is a very nice distraction. People welcomed it but forgot the kind of people at the helm of affairs of this country. They did not even wait for long. They increased the price in the middle of January (a usually long month for workers). Brace up fellas! |
“The government’s focus on distributing palliatives is a short-term fix to an ongoing agricultural crisis. While essential, these measures fail to address underlying issues such as inadequate irrigation systems, insufficient storage facilities, and weak market access that continue to hinder agricultural productivity across the country,”These palliative stories always look like some corruption-ridden scheme. Now that we know how much was spent, can we know what and who was given? Does it tally at a least a little? Can actual people in real constituencies confirm they got anything from this particular palliative? |
Interesting that he's starting from "Chicago" while his allies are inviting gospel ministers from one certain country. Also, is Obama's home city not Chicago? And they were just having a nice bromance at Carter's funeral the other day. Hilarious! |
Topman7:Very important part. Until then, it's all just fluff and play. Thank you ChatGPT. |
Projections from respected institutions, including the World Bank, show an upward trajectory in Nigeria’s GDP, signalling that our economy is firmly on the path to recovery. Additionally, by addressing inefficiencies, the country has reduced its debt service-to-revenue ratio, creating a more sustainable fiscal framework for future generations.Nobody eats GDP o. GDP looks like the key metric to borrow more money from those institutions. How does it translate to easing the rising inflation (especially for basic goods)? |
Apostle, hmmm.... |
Gradually the difference between the NAFEM and parallel markets continue to widen. This was how it got to 500 disparity at some point and folks in the govt was blaming abokifx. |
FG and their surrogates will usually say that inflation is all over the world but the one in Nigeria is evil and unsustainable for a sane country. If these kinds of inflation (especially for basic goods) happened in "saner" climes, they would be serious issues and consequences. But in Nigeria, we lament a bit and move on. Abi, what else can be done? |
Finally, some have been caught to be shown as examples to deter others. Poverty might be a motivator but now prison + fine will be their lesson. |
Now they have been warned AIr Commodore, maybe you declare a no-fly zone (targeted to UAVs) and any such drones still in the air goes down in flames. That theatre is a war zone and must be treated with caution to get the necessary results. Hopefully, commercial operators will understand and allow the military do their work and eliminate these terrorists. |
No let anyone pressure you! |
Catch him and no make mouth na |
