HornyTave: I haven't used any. I used Jubaili equivalent of Arrow, Omo e make my cassava slow so since then I've stopped using selective and are emergent. If you are patient enough u can use manual weeding since it's 2 months old. my boss, i fit mail you my FB make we compare notes over there.you are good |
Agriculture › Re: What Are My Options? (herbicides) by anoda(op): 11:38am On Nov 06, 2021 |
HornyTave: At ankle height, 100ml would work just fine. If its only corn u planted u can use selective na there i get wahalah o, plus the corn na two months now. Guardforce or atrazine which you go recomend make I put am for nxt yr plan. Thank you so much |
Agriculture › Re: What Are My Options? (herbicides) by anoda(op): 8:48am On Nov 06, 2021 |
HornyTave: You can get 10 spray per can when you measure at 100mil per knapsack. it works but very slow but effective when the weeds are small, recommended where there's cassava but chemicals these days eh but
1. what did you plant? 2. are there elephant or guinea grass on it? i have corn well spaced abt 1M*1M and there are no elephat or guinea grass. Just broad leafs that at knee height, glphosphate of 150ml to 15L dealt real and complete damage to. They droped mature seeds which are now at ankle level. Are you sayin that I can do 100ml to 15L? |
Agriculture › Re: What Are My Options? (herbicides) by anoda(op): 7:56am On Nov 06, 2021 |
HornyTave: a cup of chemical is 4k. you'll need 2 fan acre. water is 1500 per drum spraying is k per can. do the maths and save yourself stories that touch. my God!! You're gettin it a lot worse than me. I plan to spray myself and the frustrating part is that you can hardly get 100L of spray from one can. |

Nekky5: If you ever know the pains of loosing a father figure in your life, you would not be talking of disowning your own father just because he couldn't go on to sponsor your post graduate studies. I was expecting to read where you complained of him not paying your school fees at all. Let me tell you the bitter truth, your father owes you nothing after your undergraduate education. You should be the one to take care of your parents afterwards because they have tried their best. Your post graduate Should be a part time course for you now since your father is a pension earner. How much is 200k? Can't the man at least enjoy his life before he joins his ancestors? Do you still want to frustrate him by all your demands instead of helping him? Pls sit back and stop all these agitations because you might not like where it would lead you later. Defer that admission or get a side job. Be a man for once and hustle like your mates not depending on that old man for your needs.s one do not have father's not to talk of one who did not find a master's program.life hard ooo!!! e fit be say some pple neva accept reality |

HornyTave: Are herbicide worth it?
What I do is, I wait 2 weeks after burning, then spray. I'm into cassava only so I plant 2 days before spraying but of recent, I notice barely a month after pumping, I would have to pump again and the high cost of herbicede isnt worth it if you factor effect of chemicals on crops. bt manual labour would split ur profit in half |

Now the farm land is cleared and the debris packed and burned (Non till corn farm). Here in Edo state, the rains start dragging their feet by February ending then start officially by March. should I.
a) Leave the first wave of weeds to germinate in late March and use glyphosphate (between 150ml to 15 and 18L of water depending in the weeds I have)
b) use pre-emergence Herbicides before planting( I have 0 experience with these kinds of Herbicides and in March temperatures could rise real high vaporizing anything on the ground)
c) Plant the corn in early March then use selective post emergence Herbicides for the maize.
This year was my first independent farming project and I'd like to work more efficiently next year. Thank you all as you bless me with knowledge. |
