Health / ASPMDA Hospital In Lagos Opened By Peter Obi & LASG Officials by anomsodi(m): 12:13am On Apr 14, 2016
Former governor of Anambra State; Mr. Peter Obi and some top officials of Lagos State Government Wednesday opened a new medical centre built by the Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers’ Association (ASPMDA) at Lagos International Trade Fair complex, Badagry expressway.
Addressing traders at the market, the former Governor, and now a senatorial aspirant hailed the intelligence of the traders for being conscious of their medical welfare which encouraged them to embark on the self-help hospital project.

Speaking at the commissioning of the hospital, the member representing Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Hon Oghene Emma Egoh thanked the efforts of the traders in creating jobs and contributing to the economy.

According to him, about N57 million has been earmarked in the 2016 federal budget for the repair of roads at the Trade Fair complex.
Earlier in his welcome address, the President of ASPMDA, Chief Daniel Offorkansi said the hospital project was topmost in his campaign promises and he has delivered it in record time to save lives in the complex.

Offorkansi also listed other achievements of his administration to include provision of security, sanitation, urinal points, electricity, and reconstruction of the security posts.

Other dignitaries that graced the commissioning include the Ezeigbo of Lagos State, Igwe Hyacinth Ohazulike, the PRO of APC, Lagos State, Mr. .Joe Igbokwe and the State Commissioner for Trade and Investments represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry

Politics / “we Are Suffering,” Kano Residents Chant During VP Osinbajo’s Visit by anomsodi(m): 3:49pm On Apr 09, 2016
We are suffering, no fuel, no power, no money,” hundreds of Kano residents chanted on Saturday as they welcomed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on a state visit.

The residents in Sabon Gari town were seen carrying placards with different inscriptions lamenting the current economic situation in one of Nigeria’s largest city.

Mr. Osinbajo, who visited the Sabon Gari market recently gutted by fire, also inspected some roads under construction while the residents continued their chants.

He told the protesters that the government was aware of their sufferings and had rolled out several policies to cushion the effects.

He also pledged that the federal government will assist the victims of the market fire which razed over 3,800 shops.

“We will make sure that we provide and support you with what we have to ensure that people do not suffer.

“I am here to bring greetings from President Muhammadu Buhari and to tell you that he is with you and standing with you even at this trying moment,” he said.

He said the Federal Government will support the state government to rebuild the market to a modern one.
The Vice president commended the state government for steps it had taken so far to ensure that the victims were relocated and continued their businesses.

Earlier in his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said the state government had identified 7,000 shops and paid N70 million as one year rent for the petty traders to enable them resume business activities.
“The state government is also renovating access roads and will provide fire fighting equipment and other facilities in the market,” he said.

Abagworo:

Owerri people rejected relocation of "Eke onuwa osisi" market on tradocultural grounds and that has affected the reconstruction of Douglas Road as well. Okorocha played a key role in approving the land for the Mall despite the person involved being a PDP man. Both Achike Udenwa and Ohakim denied the man the use of the land which equally delayed the take off of the project until it Okorocha emerged.

Celebrities / Ex-gov Peter Obi To Reconcile P-square by anomsodi(m): 9:47pm On Mar 17, 2016
LAGOS—Ex-Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has resolved to wade into the crisis rocking the P-Square brothers.
PETER OBI
It was gathered that Obi was highly ‘disappointed’ with the two brothers and called them separately on Monday to advise them against making a decision that will ruin their career.
According to the source, “There’s still hope for them to remain together. The former governor called both of them separately on Monday, including their elder brother Jude and advised them not to allow outsiders come between them. He reminded them of the old African adage that says, blood is thicker than water,” the source said.

The statement also announced arch. Robert Achanya as Director- General, Bureau of Public Private Partnership while Mr. Emmanuel Odiniya who hails from Olamaboro Local government area is to serve as Chairman, Bureau of Local Government Pension.
The statement which said the appointment takes immediate effect said their appointment was an efforts by the Governor to position his government to ensure equitable distribution of dividends of democracy in the state.

In a related development, the State Head of Service has been placed on 30 days compulsory leaves.
The SSG also said the compulsory leave of th HOS follows a directive from the Governor, Yahaya Bello.
However, Vanguard gathered that the HOS situation just like the Permanent Secretaries, Treasurers, and others whose 30 days compulsory leaves have expired may not return back to office.
