NUT commends Oyo over recruitment of 19,500 teachers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo State, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde-led government for recruiting 19,500 teachers in five years.

The union, in a statement signed by the NUT Chairman, Oladimeji Raji and the Secretary, Salami Olukayode, noted that the appointment of 5,000 teachers in his first term and 14,500 since the inception of his second term into the state primary and secondary schools was noteworthy.

The union said the ripple effects of the recruitment were that it would address the problems of inadequate manpower in the education sector and promote teaching and learning.

The statement read, “Your disposition towards turning the tide of the education system of Oyo State remains unprecedented and unmatched not only in the annals of recruitment history of our dear state in recent times but also across the entire 36 states of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory.

“Your Excellency Sir, your achievements in the education sector since assumption of office particularly, on the successful recruitment of over 14,000 qualified teaching professionals and about 3,500 non- teaching personnel, aside from an appreciative number of caregivers is a clear cut and a perfect reflection of your results-oriented style of leadership aimed at providing free, qualitative and quantitative education to the amiable citizens of Oyo State. This gesture shall, without doubt, have a significant touch in our classroom and as well enhance educational service delivery to our school children.”

What can the opposition parties do about this? Absolutely nothing, funny enough the opposition parties claim that they already know the tactics that APC is employing but guess what!! The have no answer on how to counter this tactic so therefore APC will win the Osun state election and the 2027 elections to make Nigeria a one-party state AND there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Nigerians can do about this. 2ND TERM LOADING.
This was how Akintola, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa etc must have thought 60 years ago.

My dad, victim of complex conspiracy – Kola Abiola

What role did Bola Tinubu play in all of these?

At the very beginning, he was part of the Yar’Adua PF group from Jos. He was a senator then, and as far as the group went, we related. The crisis started post-election. When Abacha came, one of the things he wanted to do was to be the administrator for Lagos.

That is Tinubu?

Yes. I am sure you have seen pictures of him and my dad. He was hoping that there would be civilian administrators like we had under IBB but Abacha said no, that he was going to have military administrators. So he (Tinubu) said okay, in that case, can I be a deputy administrator? But Abacha said that there wouldn’t be deputies. Then he wanted the post of a commissioner.

He wanted to be a commissioner?

Yes. Then it was a choice between him and someone very close to Jakande who has passed on now. I can’t remember his name, but because Babagana was already in the government, that guy was picked as commissioner. But really, Senator Tinubu had lost out already.

Was Tinubu very close to MKO?

Yes, he was close enough. He and Adeniyi Adele, a very good guy, were close to my father. In fact, Adeniyi was closer to my father and more dedicated to the process than anyone of them. When my documentary comes out, you will see Tinubu’s take on issues. So once he lost out, automatically, he became a NADECO member and Adeniyi was incarcerated.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the alleged money laundering suit it filed at the Federal High Court against Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

Naija News understands that the anti-graft did not give any particular reason for its application for withdrawal.

Following the application to withdraw, Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the ‘lien/Post No Debit’ placed on Obasa’s three accounts in Standard Chartered Bank.

The accounts are (US Dollars) 0001852063; (Current) 0001852056 and (Saving) 5002309624.

The judge also set aside the ex-parte orders he made on September 15, 2020, which led to the freezing of the accounts.

Recall that the court on September 15, 2020, granted an interim order freezing Obasa’s accounts following the EFCC’s application in a suit marked FHC/LCS/1064/2020.

The agency had said it was investigating the Speaker for the alleged offences of conspiracy, diversion of funds, abuse of office and money laundering.

But Justice Oweibo, on August 16, 2023, heard the application to unfreeze the accounts in his chamber.

During the hearing, the EFCC was represented by Mr. Sulaiman I. Sulaiman, while Obasa was represented by Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN).

The EFCC lawyer told the court that the application to unfreeze the accounts was pursuant to Section 44(2)(K) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Sections 26, 29 and 34 (1) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004, and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction.

Section 44 of the Constitution concerns constitutional rights to property.

Justice Oweibo held: “It is hereby ordered that an order is hereby granted to the respondent/applicant setting aside the ex-parte orders of this court made on the 15th day of September 2020 upon the ex-parte motion of the Applicant/ Respondent in relation the funds of the Respondent/Applicant domiciled in the accounts stated in the following schedule:

“ACCOUNT NAME, FINANCIAL ACCOUNT INSTITUTIONS, TYPE OF ACCOUNT, 1. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered, (US Dollars) 0001852063 2. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Current) 0001852056 3. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Saving) 5002309624.

“Issued at Lagos, under the seal of this Honourable Court and by the hands of the Presiding Judge this 16th day of August 2023.”

CharlesCNG:
This is economic illiteracy dressed as outrage.

Petrol cannot simply be “crashed” to ₦185 per litre by presidential command in a deregulated market.
Dangote buys crude at prices linked to the international market, incurs refining, financing, storage and distribution costs, and cannot order Brent crude or the exchange rate to obey Nigerian social media. In July 2026, Dangote’s quoted ex-depot petrol price was $0.779 per litre. At the CBN rate of about ₦1,368/$, that alone converts to roughly ₦1,066 per litre before transport and retail margins.

Forcing that product down to ₦185 means government must pay the difference as subsidy. Using April consumption of about 51.1 million litres daily, the subsidy gap would approach ₦45 billion every day—roughly ₦1.35 trillion monthly. That is not “crashing the price”; it is hiding the price inside public debt and diverting money from roads, security, education and healthcare.

The $3.3 billion Afreximbank facility was a crude-backed prepayment loan meant to provide dollar liquidity, meet obligations and support exchange-rate stability—not a magical cheque capable of permanently fixing the naira at ₦300.

Total disbursement eventually reached about $3.175 billion, a tiny amount compared with Nigeria’s continuing demand for dollars for imports, debt service, fuel, machinery and profit repatriation.

And the First Lady’s akara remark was made in the context of grants and small-business self-reliance. Encouraging microenterprise does not replace the government’s wider employment responsibility, but twisting it into proof that the President has no job policy is merely social-media comedy.

You cannot demand market-determined exchange rates and petrol prices, then complain that the President has not imposed fantasy prices by decree. That is not economics; it is subsidy nostalgia with a calculator missing.
Are you talking about Tinubu's economic illiteracy huh

Deltafirstson:
Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.

Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

How we foiled Jonathan’s effort to make Mulika Adeola Speaker, Akande reveals

AS president in 2011, Goodluck Jonathan did all he could to ensure South West grabbed the country’s number four seat, including lobbying then opposition leaders from the zone, to no avail. The North West eventually grabbed the seat, supported by South West leaders in opposition to then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Former Governor of Osun State and now statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, made this revelation in his autobiography, “My Participations” which is currently dominating political and national dis- course.

Aminu Tambuwal, now Sokoto State governor, won the seat, against the preferred pick of his party, Mrs Mulikat Adeola Akande, from the South-West. Defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, then a fledging opposition, which had Akande and his soulmate, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, as front- line leaders, openly asked its elected members of the House of Representatives, mostly from the South-West, to work against their region and back Tambuwal from North-West.

The opposition party’s support carried Tambuwal through the contest against Akande, then ruling party’s favourite for the speakership seat.

In his book, Chief Akande revealed that former president then as incumbent, personally reached out to Tinubu, who is now believed to be nursing presidential aspiration in 2023 and himself, but couldn’t convince them.

He wrote, “President Jonathan, immediately after the meeting (with political parties), called Bola Tinubu aside into a lobby to broach the matter of ACN support for a choice of who would become the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“That same day, President Jonathan talked to me on phone about the same matter. He disclosed that PDP had zoned the position to the South-West but that only one Muraina and another Mulika won elections on PDP ticket from the zone into the House of Representatives.

CharlesCNG:
That comparison actually exposes Atiku more than it protects him.

On Deborah Samuel, the accurate distinction is this: I found no clear public statement from Tinubu personally condemning the killing at the time. That silence was legitimately criticised.
But Atiku did something politically more revealing—he publicly condemned the killing, then deleted the condemnation after backlash. Reuters documented the deletion, while Atiku later admitted ordering it removed, claiming the post had not received his approval.

So it is silence versus comment-and-retreat. Neither deserves applause, but deleting a principled statement when it becomes electorally inconvenient is hardly evidence of superior courage.

The rest of your response is mostly emotional abuse and senseless rantings presented as analysis.
Yes, Tinubu ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket; that is a fact. But a ticket’s religious composition does not, by itself, prove that the president “cares about nobody” or deliberately wants to ruin Nigeria.

On poverty, criticism is justified: the World Bank says household welfare remains severely strained and poverty increased despite improving macroeconomic indicators. But the same institution also reports easing inflation, stronger fiscal and external positions, and continuing economic growth.
The honest conclusion is that stabilisation gains have not yet translated sufficiently into household relief—not that every policy was designed to “worsen poverty.”

“Serial betrayer,” “greedy acquisition” and “cares about nobody” are opinions, not established facts.

You cannot defend Atiku’s deleted Deborah statement by shouting insults at Tinubu.
Atiku spoke, faced pressure and withdrew the statement. That remains the uncomfortable fact.
Ẹniti o gbà odò gbà mark, yàtọ̀ sí àwọn tí wọ́n kó yọjú rárá.

If Tinubu’s policies are not designed to worsen APC extreme poverty and insecurity shege then why has he failed to crash petrol price below N185 and why has he failed to deliver his N300/$1 short term goal despite borrowing $3.3 billion SPV Afreximbank loans, secured by future oil sales to specifically defend the Naira? Any idea why his wife advised people to fry akara because her husband is clueless about creating 50 million jobs promised?

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.

There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.

Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.

The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.

While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.

“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.

“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.

“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”

Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

Anambra distributes 177 vehicles to traditional rulers

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, on Monday in Awka, distributed one SUV each to the traditional rulers of the 177 communities in the state.

Obi handed over one of the vehicles’ key to the state Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha.

He said that the gesture was aimed at helping them run and build better communities, adding that the vehicles would also help the traditional rulers to function effectively.

“If you have better communities, you will have a better Anambra, Anambra today is changing for better and I want this sustained,” the governor said.

“In doing that, the state government and the local government will do what it can to support the building of a better Anambra.”

Achebe said that he was overjoyed because the governor cared about the well-being and welfare of the traditional rulers.

“It is completely unprecedented in Anambra and probably elsewhere in Nigeria,” he said.

“It is a mighty gesture from the governor and for the government of the state to make a distinct impact on the well-being of the traditional rulers in the state.”

According to him, it was one of the several measures the present administration in the state had taken to improve the wellbeing of the traditional rulers.

“We pray that God will give us a successor that will continue from where Obi has left and lift Anambra to the next level.”

Section 44 of the Constitution concerns constitutional rights to property.

Emilokan phenomenon overbloated with absolute power which corrupts the absolute.

When a man assumes a stage where truth becomes repulsive to him,he has assumed a stage of pride which eventually leads to destruction.
Nothing can destroy master strategist Don Teflon. Obasanjo tried and failed in 2003, thanks to Atiku who stood up for the Lagos landlord, just as he stood up for Obasanjo against northerners who wanted him to honour his promise of one term like Mandela, to them.
