abdelrahman: Gamsu Abacha is making good of her family's legacy and popular motto of "no matter how poor they are, they will never be as poor as Dangote", Sagesse Gumsu, we get the drift, with a plate of meal like that? we dont see how you can be as poor as Dangote
Smithkafors: Because you gave them money to farm it abi?...for the records, you are the worse agric minister since Independence. GEJ made sure that most farmers in Nigeria gets at least a bag of fertilizer and raw rice to farm....,but this government jettisoned the program but has money to build Ruga across Nigeria. Evil government!
agbonkamen: It's also unpatriotic for Buhari to remain as a Nigerian President, knowing fully well that the country is retrogressing.
You have gone too far. Let us start by asking if it is patriotic for barawo bubu to keep going abroad for treatment after promising to end medical tourism and "spending" plenty money on the State House clinic?
maasoap: Mehn, things have really gone bad in this country!
Should we stick with this reality or work to set things right as we pursue happiness as our ultimate goal? Happiness that is easier achieved for longer more frequently in a better environment that works for most people?
maasoap: Because I'm talking about reality, as it is today. Not some 60 years ago.
azimo: because education is not their way of life don't you get it ? A Fulani doesn't and can't be compatible with western education they are sick in the head that's why
Their elites are compatible with western education but don't want it for their masses so they can be recruited easily to intimidate southerners into perpetual slavery in the Fulani Republic of Naijeriya, FRN aka BuhariStan where they are an ethnic minority and the last arrived group into this geographical area.
uuzba: Me that am foolish, I should sacrifice myself again for smart people? Abeg. Nobody should complain about Nigeria and Nigerian leaders again. Anyhow you see am, take am like that.
Then what will happen to you and your offspring 20, 50, 100 years down the line?
maasoap: I didn't see that you were even confused in your first post, I wouldn't have responded. Does it even make sense to you to compare the salary of civil servants to that of politicians in Nigeria? That's where your confusion started and infected me. Apologies
Why not in Nigeria? Are the Nigerians of today different from those of the 1960s? What was the gap in pay package back then between politicians and civil servants?
uuzba: So how do we stop getting dumb people all over? What I know about Nigeria is that once a person is smart/intelligent, he runs away from the country to Europe, Canada, USA... and never comes back. That means all the smart people are outside Nigeria and they are not voting for any of our leaders. Why can't these smart people comeback and change things around?
What can you do and sacrifice to make the smart people come back and change things around
alizma: Not until prepaid metre get to every house in Nigeria, there will be no stable light
Mutemenot: A very shameful thing that we still talk about electricity supply at this century
You guys must be based abroad since 2015 with no news about home. We have stable electricity since 2015 as promised by barawo bubu and his 40 thieves presidency cabal of the Alliance of Past/Present Crooks, APC.
ednut1: all i know is Tinubu will cry blood. he should have known better
He won't be the first southerner to be dribbled like that by the owners of Naijeriya. Afonja, Akintola, Azikiwe, Ironsi, Awolowo etc have tasted the bitter pill of use & dump.
solmus: perhaps they swear for you in your region, but my vote is for tested and trusted Tinubu, even the pig called Peter Obi resides in Tinubu's Ikoyi and not his backward region
See as you are exposing your hypocrisy all by yourself. Unprovoked. Are you okay? Is everything alright with you?
solmus: the main sign of madness is incoherence , now from flood you have moved to medical tourism, look boy, Americans travel to brazil and mexico for plastic surgeries, CNN correspondent Aisha brought her mother to Lagos for medicare, most Asians use medical centers in new delhi in india, Saudi Royals frequented UCH Ibadan in the 60s... so its about personal choice, confidentiality and available finance..
ednut1: is it about camera enhanced beauty. private people built those houses. when it rains a little its all flooded as government is not doing its part. there is no water service there and the whole water there is polluted and has be treated before use. many buy water in that zone. this is 2020 lagos is still a disgrace of a city. In VI where i work there is stagnant water all over, blocked drainages, bad roads etc.
God bless you real good. In "posh" VI for that matter. Not Oshodi of MC Oluomo. I don't know whether it is mediocrity or the blind loyalty that makes the JagaBandit followers hype the rot in the supposed state of excellence.
TayoAinaFilms: A Place You Wouldn't Believe Exists In Lagos Nigeria! (water Transport)
A Place You Wouldn't Believe Exists In Lagos Nigeria! (water transport) is a video about the newly launched water transport facility in Nigeria. I take you through the Newly Built Jetty, how to make use of it and we can both decide if this is a remarkable development for Lagos. Do like, watch and enjoy.
postbox: Aug 31, 2018 Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday commissioned an ultra modern Ferry Terminal and the Headquarters of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) in Falomo area of the State, restating that no efforts would be spared to harness the potentials of water transport sector for the overall benefit of residents.
The Governor, who also commissioned a Multi-level Car Park within the same premises, said the unveiling of the edifice which was delivered through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with MTN Nigeria, signposts the readiness, willingness and ability of the State Government to take full control of its waterways and would continue to do so effectively.
Governor Ambode, who was represented by the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem, said completion of the project, which started seven years ago, was an eloquent demonstration of the appreciation and recognition of the efforts of the State Government toward the overall development of water transport sector in the State.
While alluding to the fact that water transportation had been proven worldwide to be an effective and efficient transport system, the Governor said despite its potentials, the sector had remained largely underdeveloped just accounting for less than one per cent of the overall traffic in the State, a development he said necessitated the massive investments and reforms of his administration in the sector.
“In furtherance of our commitment to developing the water transportation system which is an integral component of the Lagos State Multi-Modal Transport System, we have invested significantly in the provision of water transportation infrastructure especially the rehabilitation of existing and construction of new Jetties; purchase of two clearing machines with navigational equipment to tackle the challenges posed by water hyacinth and the ongoing installation of safety signs for routes demarcation, among others.
In addition, we have concluded plans for the procurement of seven high-capacity passenger ferries to complement the existing ones, while we also plan to assist commercial ferry operators to acquire new standard boats.
“All of these are with the intent of encouraging more private sector investment in water transportation. The long-term objective is to reduce the pressure on our roads as our people increasingly embrace water transportation system,” Governor Ambode said.
While reiterating the commitment of his administration to continue to protect the interest of those using the waterways especially in the area of providing the entire residents of the State with quality and affordable water transport services, the Governor also reinforced the determination of the State to ensure that waterways in the State were safe and secured.
Besides, Governor Ambode commended MTN Nigeria for partnering and contributing to the realization of the State Government’s objectives in the water transport sector, just as he urged other private sector stakeholders to take advantage of the emerging investment opportunities in Lagos water transport sector.
In his opening remarks, General Manager of LASWA, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel commended Governor Ambode for his unparalleled commitment and support towards the upgrading, construction and equipping of waterways infrastructure in the State, saying that the new imposing edifice, among other ongoing projects on the waterways, aptly demonstrated such investments and reforms in the sector.
“This terminal is expected to attract new investors, boost water transportation and reduce vehicular traffic on Lagos roads and also complement the efforts of the Lagos State Government towards promoting Inter-Modal Transport System in the State thereby increasing the efficiency of government interventions in the sector.
“On our part, LASWA remains committed to delivering an enabling environment to all waterways users. We are deepening and broadening or capacities to surpass all expectations in this regard,” Emmanuel said, just as he solicited the cooperation of all stakeholders especially by strictly complying with all existing rules and regulations on water transportation.
Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mr Ferdi Moolman said his firm was delighted to partner with the State Government to deliver another milestone that would lead to a better transport system and improved quality of lives for millions of the State’s residents.
“Lagos is home to a visionary and dynamic government that beliefs in the power of Public-Private Sector Partnership and today’s event is a proof of that. I like to specially commend Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and his team for the transformation and innovative projects ongoing across the State,” Moolman said.
Facilities at the ferry terminal include a ticketing point, passenger lounge, VIP Lounge, elevator, standard conveniences, among others.
Mediarero: Over 1,000 beggars on Tuesday blocked the entrance of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Governor’s Office to protest undue harassment and arrest by officials of the state government.
The beggars, who came in over 10 buses and seven tricycles barricaded the entrance to the Assembly and demanded that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu addressed them, saying that they would sleep on the road if the governor did not come out.
Despite plea by government officials telling them that the governor was not around, they refused to bend and vowed to remain there until they were seen by the governor.
The protesters were armed with placards, some of which read: “Enough is enough, stop the persecution of people with disabilities,” “Save the waterfront, enforced conviction, we demand justice,”If you don’t want to see us begging on the streets, give us skills and empowerment,” “Seeing beggars all over our streets and roads is the failure of the system” and “We are tired of running without legs or eyes, give us skills and empowerment.”
The beggars were chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ intermittently and dared the police to harass them.
Spokesperson of the beggars and Coordinator, Physically Challenged Empowerment Initiatives, PCEI, Mohammed Zanna, said in 2017, they protested in Alausa and refused to leave, but that many of them were arrested and taken to Majidun, which he described as a prison where they were ill-treated and manhandled by government officials.
He said without making provision, government would make laws to arrest the beggars and dumped them at Majidun, as some of them had died in the hospital and in detention.
According to him, some of the beggars had been able to purchase tricycles to do their businesses, but that now that the government had banned them, their situation had been made difficult, saying that people were now trekking from bus stops to their destinations and that some of the physically challenged among them did not have means of transportation

St Nicholas hospital in lagos remains one of the best rated in africa.
You are not ashamed to talk about 1960s Ibadan when the same standard no longer applies with most Nigerian doctors running abroad to work there as the Alliance of Past/Present Crooks, APC rogues you support have wrecked the system while doing propaganda of making progress. Matter of choice for politicians who promised the opposite when campaigning
Fashola sends dad abroad for medicare As the crisis rocking the state's health sector worsens MAY 13, 2012
Ademola Fashola, the father of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, has been flown to the United States for medical attention for an undisclosed ailment, as the crisis rocking the health sector in the state continues.
The governor's father was said to be accompanied by two doctors from the state, one of who is the Medical Director of Ebute-Metta Health Centre, F. O. Williams.
The governor, on Monday, sacked 788 striking doctors following their failure to respond to queries issued to them to defend the strike action.
The doctors had gone on a three-day warning strike to press for the full implementation of an agreement reached with the state government over an improved salary structure called CONMESS.
A senior official of the state government, who did not want his name published, confirmed that the elder Fashola had been evacuated from the country before the strike.
"I also heard about it but it didn't happen during the ongoing crisis," he said. "I heard that his father had been flown out before the strike started at all."
As at the time of this report, Dr Williams could not be reached as calls made to his mobile phone were unsuccessful.
Following the sacking of the doctors and their subsequent forced eviction from their staff quarters, the state government announced that it has employed 373 substitute doctors into its health system.
The state' Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris, also said more applications have been received from doctors interested in working in state-owned hospitals.
However, checks at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and some other state-owned hospitals revealed that many of the new doctors were yet to resume; thus jeopardising the fate of hundreds of sick residents.
One of the affected doctors, who also did not want his name published, claimed that the governor once stated, during one of their negotiations, "that he has no need for public hospitals".
"Fashola told us that he doesn't use facilities in state hospitals and that whatever project he carries out there is not for himself," he said.
The doctor also claimed that former Lagos State Governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) chieftain, Bola Tinubu, last year, at a meeting to broker peace between the state government and the doctors, said the state could afford to shut down all its public hospitals.
"Tinubu told us that if his mother fell ill, he could afford to fly her outside the country and even pay the bills if all residents visited private hospitals," he added.
When contacted, Idris confirmed that the governor's father was recently flown abroad, but on a referral from LASUTH. "He was attended to at the teaching hospital; and it was at the teaching hospital that he was referred abroad," he said, while refusing to state the nature of Fashola's ailment.
lexy2014: Y wouldn't we believe that it exists or did fall from d sky yday? It was built by Ambode and when u are climbing Falomo bridge from V.I., its visible to those who use that route daily. So why d hype?
The hype is to justify and cover up the massive looting of Lagos treasury by the Jagabandit & Co.
ZombieNation: The canker worm Tinubu was the first governor to turn state house of assemblies to rubber stamps.
The Lagos state national assembly passed a pension bill for elected officials which included Tinubu.
Under the bill, Lagos is saddled with maintaining Tinubu for the rest of his life on the prevailing full salary a sitting governor is entitled to.
The pension bill for Tinubu also includes choice properties bought and paid for by the state in Abuja, Lagos and abroad.
Tinubu also has the choice of 5 executive cars to be replaced every 5yrs.
Recall also that Tinubu is on record to be the only elected governor in the history of modern democracy to have had 4 deputies in 8yrs!
The man is a rotten egg who spear headed corruption in Nigeria to new levels and the financial bankruptcy of acn states under his leprosy grip is evidence of his systematic kleptomaniac.
bash8936: Many beautiful things about the place Lagos that the media will not talk about except undermining the efforts of the government of the only working state in Nigeria just because they hate one man. Spit
A state that has been ruined for two decades by rogues forming progressives or another state?
MathsChic: Some days ago, I was at a secondary school in Surulere (across the bridge from the Island) in Lagos for a friend's event where he is educating secondary students about the perils of peer pressure. I honestly wasn't expecting what I saw as the state of this secondary school. It left me wondering if this was a school or a dump yard. Why in heaven's name are Nigerian leaders looking the other way while the young ones study in this sorry environment?
The attached pictures are what I saw. This is no secondary school. It's a hopeless shanty. I hope this gets to front page and attracts the necessary attention.
solmus: even a dunce should know flood happens every where even in best cities in US and UK but PDP robots are lesser in resoning
Of course flood happens everywhere in the best cities of US and UK hence your JagaBandit and barawo bubu are always going there for medical treatment and abandon you to the horrific life they have created by looting your future into their foreign bank accounts. Enjoy your wailing misery. SMH!
El-Rufai - It's Time to Restructure Nation 10 AUGUST 2010
For Nigeria to move to the next level, the issue of true federalism must be addressed, according to former FCT Minister, Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He shares his thoughts with Imam Imam.
Apprehension about the composition and workability of the Nigerian nation-state will subside if the country tilts towards true federalism, according to former FCT Minister, Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He said the present situation of things where all the component units get monthly allocations from the Federal Government only makes the states lazy and unproductive, adding that lack of foresight, financial discipline and lackadaisical approach to governance has played huge roles in limiting the country's march to greatness.
Many Of Those Calling For Restructuring Are Opportunists, Irresponsible – El-Rufai
The Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai has described recent calls for the restructuring of Nigeria as political opportunism and irresponsibility.
El-Rufai, while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily said President Buhari’s administration has done far more in practical terms than past administrations and that many of those calling for a restructuring rather see it as a means of opportunism.
He stated that some of the practical steps taken towards restructuring included the fact that state governors are now more than ever, involved in economic policy making at the national level.
According to him, things that have always been hidden from state governments are now much more open as they are now more involved in investigations of finances of the excess crude account, among other things.
“We meet every month under the auspice of the National Economic Council and working together with the Federal Government we chart directions of economic policy and that is part of shifting the federal- state balance.
“A lot of the talk about political restructuring is political opportunism and irresponsibility in my opinion
“It is popular and people that have presidential aspirations think there is a platform upon which they will exploit this. As I said, if you look at the APC manifesto, all the elements to divulge power to the state to change the balance in the federation are there and we are committed to that as a party.
“The National Chairman of our party will restate that commitment and we are discussing it and as I said President Buhari and Osinbajo’s government has taken very concrete steps rather than rhetoric to actually move in that direction and we are going to move in that direction but we do not believe that the basis for it is rhetoric and opportunism, we do not believe that the 2014 CONFAB report is a sensible basis to even begin.
“We all know the circumstances in which the so-called CONFAB was put together, we all know the composition, how lopsided it was, how important stakeholders were not taken to account, how even the composition and numbers do not reflect the demographics and the diversity of this country and we took a position as a party not to participate but to encourage our state governors to be there at the table.”
tsephanyah: Who is he? 95% of Nigerians don't know who he is. Irrelevant people making noise for the papers, so that they can print and stay relevant. The national leadership of the APC will not explain why the party will not implement the report of its committee on restructuring... Because you, the newspaper and does who read it av zero political advantage to the party. If you want something to keep body and soul together, just ask the relevant people because of your services to the nation they will help.
