Nigeria will not be getting a new national carrier in December or early 2019 as previously planned.
The national minister for aviation tweeted this evening (Sept. 19) that plans for the airline have been suspended. The plans for the new carrier, named Nigeria Air, complete with a logo unveiling, were announced at Farnborough, a renowned international aviation exhibition in London back in July.
The government claimed it would not own more than 5% of the airline, ceding control to private investors expected to invest $300 million in the new airline at inception.

tete7000: A person can be a prof and still be stricken by poverty. Born, bred in poverty and haunted by his childhood poverty experience, he becomes parochial, greedy and selfish to the point that he won't mind selling his unborn generation away just to maintain his financial security... Poverty is a thing of the mind. That seems like a grim but realistic characterisation of many of those whom we have allowed to lead us in public office, religious groups and the private sector.Terrible shiit. |

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed stated this during a press briefing in Abuja yesterday to herald the 61st Meeting of the UNWTO-CAF, which begins today and run through Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
He said the increased infrastructural development across the country has improved the rate of foreign investors coming into the country saying 166 foreign delegates, 26 ministers and 332 Nigerian delegates have confirmed attendance at the confab.
Alhaji Mohammed said the infrastructural development has led to Nigeria’s ranking as the 24th globally on ease of doing business, especially with the visa processes which has been made easier for investors.
While noting the theme of the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Regional Commission for Africa meeting: “Tourism Statistics: A Catalyst for Development’’, Alhaji Mohammed said the theme fits very well into Nigeria’s quest to improve on her tourism statistics for planning purposes and the ultimate development of the sector.
The minister said Nigeria would showcase its rich cultural heritage and various tourism locations during the global event.
Secretary General of the UNWTO, Mr Zurab Pololikashvili said the aim of hosting the event in Nigeria is to promote the country and Africa to the rest of the World.
“The Abuja meeting will ratify an action plan on tourism in Africa. We believe that the future of Africa is in tourism because it has the potential to create jobs,” he said.
Pololikashvili said government must also ensure the provision of critical infrastructure because “tourism cannot thrive without infrastructure and that is one of the advantages.”

FG, States, LGs Share N568.4 Billion for Oct 15 NOVEMBER 2013
Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.
Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."
While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.
He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.

jclassiq: I never said anywhere in my comment that there is something wrong with being single. As a matter of fact, being single affords you the opportunity to truly live out your potentials cos you have zero worries. But most people are not comfortable with the loneliness. Thats why I asked the poster if she can do it. Many thanks for your cool headed clarification. Greatly appreciated. |

jclassiq: Yea, but the thing about time is that it doesn't wait for anyone. Now I'm not suggesting you lower your standard or anything. But if the man you are looking for doesn't come, will you be willing to live out your life as a single person? This is the question that needs to be asked. Is there anything wrong with living life as a single person? Are there not many accomplished people whose legacies live beyond them who were single and childless |

Seun: I commend you for knowing what you want. Now you need to know what what you want wants. Talk to happily married men who fall into the category you're looking for and ask them what attracted them to their wives. Cultivate those qualities and then you'll be able to attract such men. El-Rufai made this known while fielding questions from some select Journalists in his office in Kaduna.
He said: “For southern Kaduna, we didn’t understand what was going on and we decided to set up a committee under Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd) to find out what was going on there. What was established was that the root of the problem has a history starting from the 2011 post election violence.
“Fulani herdsmen from across Africa bring their cattle down towards Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria. The moment the rains starts around March, April, they start moving them up to go back to their various communities and countries.
“Unfortunately, it was when they were moving up with their cattle across Southern Kaduna that the elections of 2011 took place and the crisis trapped some of them.
“Some of them were from Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Mali and Senegal. Fulanis are in 14 African countries and they traverse this country with the cattle.“So many of these people were killed, cattle lost and they organised themselves and came back to revenge.
“So a lot of what was happening in Southern Kaduna was actually from outside Nigeria. We got a hint that the late Governor Patrick Yakowa got this information and he sent someone to go round some of these Fulani communities, but of course after he died, the whole thing stopped. That is what we inherited. But the Agwai committee established that.
“We took certain steps. We got a group of people that were going round trying to trace some of these people in Cameroon, Niger republic and so on to tell them that there is a new governor who is Fulani like them and has no problem paying compensations for lives lost and he is begging them to stop killing.“In most of the communities, once that appeal was made to them, they said they have forgiven
.There are one or two that asked for monetary compensation. They said they have forgiven the death of human beings, but want compensation for cattle. We said no problem, and we paid some. As recently as two weeks ago, the team went to Niger republic to attend one Fulani gathering that they hold every year with a message from me.
