Culture › Nigerian Navy Urges Unity Among Nigerians by anonymous6(op): 8:00pm On Jul 27, 2012
"The Deputy Field Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Navy Cdr Muazu Salami, has urged Nigerians to unite for peace and progress in the country.

Salami, who made the call on Friday in Calabar, during the Special Jummat Service to mark the Navy Week, 2012.

He said Nigerians should be their brother’s keeper, irrespective of their religious differences.

“Nigerians should learn to be their brother’s keeper and live in unity in order to achieve peace and progress in the county,” he said.

Salami said that the Nigerian Navy was proud of its achievements since its inception, hence the celebration of Navy Week.

“We are proud of our achievement since inception on June 1, 1956, and that is why we map out one week every year to celebrate our achievements,” he said.

Salami said the Nigerian Navy was making efforts to acquire modern equipment in order to cope with modern technological challenges.

“The Navy is also improving on the retraining of the force in order to meet the challenges of the future,” he said.

Salami said that the Eastern Naval Command had been successful in keeping the maritime under its operational environment safe for business operations, adding that this was the navy's primary responsibility.

“That is the focus of the Navy in this Command and generally, to protect the maritime environment, '' he stated."

When I went to Nigeria I never saw people referring to themselves with the N word, I am sorry but I have heard it once in a while with nigerians in America trying to act black american or Nigerian hip hop singers(not all of them). Lastly if a few in Nigeria are doing that they must be doing it for fashion due to the hip hop music they listen to, the same way it is listened to in Asia and etc, but I never heard a Nigerian in Nigeria call themselves Nigga. Thank God

why are you guys fighting over a word that is used for bad in America, I don't care how you say it the word Nigga or Nigger is bad, and is used any how by black americans, why are you guys fighting over that word, it shouldn't be Nigeria's problem.

Now I know u r a nut case...what did they call it yoruba films ..not english..weda they can speak english or not..doesn't matter as long as it is yoruba language..the arab movies dat won oscars award are not acted in english but in arab language..so ur point is useless and senseless.
Dats why we black will never be on top cos we don't appreciate our dialect, our own...is english your mother tongue..our language is dieing and yoruba film is helping in this area..go to uk,usa..many nigeria kids there .use it to learn our cuture and language..cos they speak our language which the english film can't do.

ronkebp: For me,
1. Nigerian
2. Nigerian
3. Nigerian
4. Nigerian
5. Nigerian meals all the way....i have tried food from every culture i have been exposed too and i won't lie, it just did not go down well and maybe because i am a very picky eater, though i love Ghanian's dunkunu and fish, that is just the only meal i enjoy. Liberia's cassava leaf soup, is not bad too, but when you eat it from different people, it has different taste, so will stick with Naija meal any day.
LOL, well people can call it biased or whatever but Nigerian food/cuisne will always be number one for me, So I understand where you are coming from and agree. 90% of the food I eat is Nigerian however I have tried cuines from other cultures that are delicious to.

Nigerian
Ivorian
Senegalese
Togo/ghana

But I like jamaican beef or chicken patties

I never tried food from Togo, guinea and Senegal, so it will be interesting to try; I have heard good reviews about Senegalese food so who know after trying it it may bump up to top 5.

coolzeal: Nigeria
Caribbean
South Africa or Mozambique, well Nandos
the rest are nothing to write home about..
Interesting, first list talking about southern African food.
The capeverdean food is same as portuguese food...the only food that is not portuguese is cachupa because is only 1"Traditional" capeverdean food but portuguese make it too! 90% things portuguese do capeverdeans does too, don't forget capeverdean was ex portuguese colony..., portuguese own the island before independence so the food, language...they did before still there except the slave thing LOL
Portuguese language still n 1 offical and still mandatory to speak in Cape Verde! capeverdeans don't speak criole at school... undecided
It is true cape Verde was a Portuguese colony, so the foods of both cultures will be intertwined, thanks for the info

Smoothcrimson: dumb biased pictures. Go look under the surface to get the real picture. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Lagos is a village with a life expectancy of 47 years compared to 63 in Ghana(not good but, still better)!!
Their is both good and bad in both cities

Accra and Lagos are both beautiful cities, but Lagos is a little bit ahead, at the same time in Ghana they have steady electricity compared to just some parts of Lagos so they could equal depending on how you look at it. I am glad though the Op wasn't biased with the pictures and showed the beauty of both cities.
