Foreign Affairs › Re: Obama Honours Oluwatosin Akinduro On U.S. Independence Day by anonymous6(f): 2:05pm On Jul 08, 2012
HNosegbe: A YOUNG Nigerian is among a selected few U.S. military servicemen who were sworn in yesterday as U.S. citizens by President Barack Obama as the country celebrated its Independence Day while also honouring the commitment of the immigrants to America’s national security.

A White House statement released yesterday morning said Oluwatosin K. Akinduro, was born in Lagos, but graduated from a high school in Houston, Texas, where there is a considerable population of Nigerian immigrants.

According to the White House statement, “he joined the Army National Guard in search of new opportunities and a new challenge to lead by example.”

The U.S. government often offers citizenship status to immigrants in the U.S. who joined the nation’s military service as a way of honouring their service and highlighting their dedication to the defence of the nation.

At the “naturalisation ceremony for active duty service members,” Obama picked out a few of the new citizens for mention, including Akinduro.

“We salute a young man from Nigeria who came here as a child,” Obama said.

Obama quoted Akinduro as saying: “I left Nigeria with the dream that we all have a destiny in life and we are all born with the resources to make a difference.”

Obama went on: “We are confident he will make a difference. We congratulate Oluwatosin Akinduro.”

Commenting on the event, which he does yearly as president, Obama noted that “I have to tell you, just personally, this is one of my favourite things to do.”

According to him, this is because “it brings me great joy and inspiration because it reminds us that we are a country that is bound together not simply by ethnicity or bloodlines, but by fidelity to a set of ideas. And as members of our military, you raised your hand and took an oath of service. It is an honour for me to serve as your Commander-in-Chief. Today, you raised your hand and have taken an oath of citizenship. And I could not be prouder to be among the first to greet you as “my fellow Americans.”

The White House statement added that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director, Alejandro Mayorkas, presented the countries of the candidates for naturalisation since all the active duty military servicemen like Nigeria’s Akinduro were all immigrants to the U.S.

Also, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, delivered the oath of allegiance and the audience was composed of the service members and their families.

In all there were about 20 of such immigrants from different countries who have joined the U.S. military and were sworn-in as citizens in a yearly event conducted specially by the U.S. President at the White House.

Other naturalisation ceremonies go on regularly, but the U.S. specially honours those from the military for special focus with the active involvement of the U.S. President.

However, all new U.S. citizens always receive a letter(s) from the sitting president after their naturalisation.

I congratulate him but to be honest not many Nigerians join Army national guard unless they get something out of it like citizenship, money and etc not because they actually want to do it;
Celebrities › Meagan Good & Husband Ask Wedding Guests To Pay For Honeymoon by anonymous6(op): 1:58pm On Jul 08, 2012
"According to Bossip, the newly married couple have included mattresses, "honeymoon fund", and a platinum crystal wine glasses, and a speed blender on their wedding registry.

The bridal registry list, provided by online site MyRegistry.com, displays all the items the pair have selected, and are mainly household products.

The Think Like A Man actress married the 33-year-old preacher and Columbia Pictures VP earlier this month after a year of dating. The couple met a few years before falling in love on the set of Jumping the Broom two years ago, and tied the knot in a Spanish-Bayou themed reception in Malibu, California.

Franklin and Good are currently enjoying their honeymoon. Although Good has revealed that she will keep her last name whilst appearing in movies, she will legally add Franklin to her last name."

Crime › Re: Woman Pours Hot Water On Step-son In Igando , Lagos by anonymous6(f): 1:53pm On Jul 08, 2012
[quote author=Mr.chippychappy]https://cdn.pmnewsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Olatunde-Obasa-badly-scald.jpg

http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/07/03/woman-pours-hot-water-on-step-son/

Eighteen years old Olatunde Obasa is currently fighting for his life in a hospital as his step-mother Mrs. Kemi Ajasa allegedly poured hot water on him at Igando area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Several parts of Olatunji’s body have been badly scalded as a result of the hot water poured on his body.

Olatunde Obasa, badly scalded by the hot water poured on him by his step-mother.
Mrs Ajasa was said to have fled the house after carrying out the dastardly act and threw the family into confusion.
Brother of the victim, Medley Ajasa has written a petition letter to the Governor, Babatunde Fashola and copied the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Commissioner of Police and the Chairman, Lagos Internal Revenue Service, LIRS, where the woman works.

In the said letter, Medley required the assistance of the state government in ensuring that justice was done.
“On the morning of 27 June, 2012, my step-mother, Mrs. Kemi Ajasa (nee Osho), a staff of Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) attached to the Headquarters Annex at Ladipo Oluwole, Off Oba Akran road, doused my younger brother of 18 years old, Olatunde Ajasa, with boiled water.

“As I write, my brother Tunde Ajasa is bed ridden in the hospital, fighting for his life, while my step-mother, Mrs. Kemi Ajasa after boasting that nothing can be done to her, has since moved out of the house and cannot be found,” he said in the letter.
“The facts of the matter are as follows: on the night of 26 June, 2012, I got a call from my brother, Tunde Ajasa. While crying on the phone, he explained to me that my step-mother threatened to kill him because he scolded her three-year old daughter for making a mess in his room,” he said.

He alleged that as a result of the action of his brother, his step-mother beat him up, broke bottles and threatened to stab him and that she would have succeeded but for the timely intervention of his father, uncle and his uncle’s wife.
“My uncle then took my step-mother along with him so that my younger brother would be allowed to sleep in the house that night.

“My step-mother returned to the house in the early hours of 27 June, 2012 with my uncle and everyone assumed that she had calmed down sufficiently. While my uncle and my father were discussing in the living room, they didn’t know that my step-mother had boiled water which she then proceeded to pour on my brother,” he alleged.
“ My brother screamed and passed out immediately. He has since been rushed to Bee-Hees Hospital at number 155, Akowonjo Road, Egbeda. My step-mother boasted as my brother was rushed to the hospital that she is well connected in Lagos State and that nothing can be done to her.

“We reported the matter at Igando Police Station where the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, Inspector Bamidele, took my statement. All efforts to locate my step-mother after this incident proved abortive. My family is deeply distressed as my brother lies in the hospital writhing in pains and fighting for his life.

“We therefore plead with the Lagos State Government and the relevant authorities to help us ensure that this woman is brought to justice. As law abiding citizens, we have laid a complaint at the police station and we believe that the police will do their best but we would appreciate if the Lagos State Government can also ensure that justice is speedily served on Mrs Kemi Ajasa,” Medley stated in the letter.

A police source at Igando Police Station confirmed that the incident was reported at the station and that the victim was badly burnt as a result of the hot water poured on him.
Since the incident occurred, Mrs. Ajasa had not reported at her work place. Our reporter was told by some staff at the LIRS that she had not reported for work since last week.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Ngozi Braide confirmed the story, saying that Mrs Ajasa was arrested last night and that she was being detained at the Igando Police Station.

If anyone doesn't like it let them make their own movie with their own money and cast any mbeke from the village in the lead role!

True

samkoro: Do you mean to tell me that the prophet who adviced his followers to hate and kill non moslems so as to enjoy 72 virgins and bottles of alcohol is sane as well?

Do u mean a prophet that took a 9yr old child home as a wife is sane?.

Do u mean that you are sane as well?
Frostyzone: All the Islamic cradle robbers in this thread are frickin delusional, like their prophet. Your religion oppresses women, period. Deal with it.
LOL

Lantycool: This is a welcome development for muslim women to showcase the virtues of Islam. This will also encourage other muslim women who participate in sports to do the same. Islam is the only true religion ordain by GOD almighty. It time to spread the religion to all, so that in the future or hereafter you cannot complain not to have been warned.
