StreetFight:Another important point is that Igbos did not pick guns to fight Nigeria rather the other way round as Nigeria attacked Biafra on the 6th of July 1967 and Biafra defended its self. God bless |
StreetFight:You’ve completed veered off on a tangent. All I’m saying is that you said it was Awolowo’s genius that invented the starvation policy and I’m pointing out to you that you’re wrong because Gowon’s government was using the blockade/starvation before in 1966 before awo joined the government. Of course I agree with you on your other point that nobody feeds their enemy during war. But I don’t suppose you should gloat over the deaths caused by such policy. I’ll ignore the personal insults to my person as I’m above that and would rather stick to the debate. Insults come when you run out of facts. God bless you |
That was how they picked up arms and decalred war agains the Federal Republic of Nigeria even without buying food, water, drugs and ammunition. They just got some hunters' dane guns and decclared war. When the war started, they then asked Awolowo and Gowon to be sending them food to eat so that they will have strenth to fight with their hunters' guns and cutlasses. Awolowo stopped all food going to the saboteurs, Awolowo also changed Nigeria's currency while the war was going on (that Awo was a baddass man) and since the seceessionists did not buy arms and ammunition before declaring war, they could not buy anything with the money they looted from the CBN regional offices in their region. So, no food to eat, no water to drink, no gun to used to fight, na so my brother Agbari Oju-Iku japa to Ivory Coast leaving the federal forces to use over three million Flattinos for pepper soup and suya and the most beautiful falt headed ladies, women and girls as sex slaves. The above is not hate speech but a summary of what happened before and during the unplanned civil and uncivil war. I hope this my mouth will not kill me sha.
For your info the starvation policy was in place just before the war then lifted and then replaced as the shooting started. It wasn’t Awo’s brainchild but Awo is blamed because though he didn’t invent the starvation policy he endorsed it to the world press. The policy resulted in 1-3 million deaths mainly women and children. I guess it’s something worth celebrating as you’ve shown in your post, but remember God judges our hearts so if the death of millions of women and babies makes you really happy today then please do thank God for their deaths. Also remember it wasn’t only igbos that died of starvation, actually more ijaws and ibibios and other minorities whom Nigeria claimed it was fighting for that died of starvation than Igbos. But then again don’t let me stop you in your moment of joy, so go on gloat gloat gloat God bless |
coolitempa1:Not entirely true because when AG and Awo threatened to leave the union during one of the conferences, the British threatened them with force. When NPC and Bello threaten to leave the British give them what they want. So please can we be objective and research extremely hard before posting. I know the rush to condemn the Igbo makes it easier to do less research and rehash untruths etc. God bless |

tsdarkside:I know the answer but I’ll rather you two battle it out. Better yet do some research and defeat him intelligently ♂️ God bless |
tsdarkside:I said you should do your own research. Hard work pays. Anyway go to international journal of Naval history and type Nigerian civil war. But I attached an excerpt in case you don’t bother checking.

Biafra got to Ore in late August 1967. Whilst the Nigerian 3rd marine commandos numbering more than 35000 with its population 90% Yoruba and led by Adekunle a Yoruba, invaded Biafra via Bonny on the 29th of July 1967. So in reality the Yoruba invaded Biafra before Biafra retaliated by going west not to even invade Yoruba land but to sack the military occupation of the west and Lagos. Also tho release pressure on Biafra mounted by Nigerian 2 divisions and to also force the international community to forge a truce. The rest is history alas. God bless |
For those laughing at Biafran soldiers, here what they think your Nigerian soldiers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RrKVnUvnVU God bless |
leokid866:Lie lie and more lies if there was free travel, why the airdrops and why were people shot at the fence. I’m wasting my time here with these issues I feel like this is a joke. God bless |
leokid866:Who won 1954 world cup |
leokid866:Give me an example of them acting as one during that period and I’ll issue an apology to you. Typical Nigerian I know you’ll rather die than acknowledge your ignorance but it’s okay God bless |
leokid866:Refresh your memory
|
leokid866:Ha ha ha, I take it you’ve seen your world class error and why Wikipedia is not academic? It was east and west Germany even Buhari knows this but you don’t. No wonder you people insult each other on this forum than debate facts learn and grow and build a healthy nation. Each day it’s Yoruba this igbos that etc hate multiplies and is it any wonder there’s so much death and destruction and poverty in the land? It’s the energy you guys give off that is part of malaise we’re all suffering. Noticed that I’ve never insulted you all through I may have pointed out your ignorance but no personal insult and if I did forgive. God bless |
leokid866:Ha ha ha ! Ok seriously let google be your friend this time. Please check what Germany was in 1967 and get back to me. I can’t believe I’m having this debate. The world has really gone backwards cerebrally and you had the temerity to also insult me whilst showcasing world class ignorance. God bless |
leokid866:But french investment in Nigeria during the war was £200m so what are you on about. They never recognised Biafra, if so show it, they never sold us war winning weapons but rather small arm to help us survive but Biafra even used those small arm to stalemate Nigeria in mid 1968 hence after operation OAU by Nigeria, they never captured any serious Biafran objectives till late 1969. Mind you France never gave us any discount on weapons sales unlike the British 75% to Nigeria. God bless |
leokid866:Can also point out an error in the Wikipedia page you posted and why it’s an academic faux pas ? Your page says Germany supported Biafra when Germany as a country clearly didn’t exist in 1967. So take note and stand corrected and stop quoting Wikipedia in serious debate etc God bless you |
leokid866:I won’t be replying Wikipedia based answers and you’re also hurling insults instead of decent fact etc. But I’ll try answering you one more time if you drop the insults and stick to facts. God bless you |
leokid866:For some reason I knew you’ll take the bait and expose you lack of academic prowess by quoting Wikipedia. My friend that is the worst thing to do! Do you know that if you reference Wikipedia in academic research, you’ll fail ? Why ? Because anyone can edit it to suit their personal desires. So please I suggest you do more serious reading and research and come up with a better rebuttal. Sorry google hasn’t been your friend this time! God bless you |
FrLukas:I actually have Alabi isama’s Book which though is a good book, fall down because it starts out as a disrespectful rebuttal to Obasanjo and is very emotional book coming from a military man. Anyway he wasn’t at Dodan barracks so was not a witness to the heated debate that took place. Like I said I’ve given two books one Yoruba and one Igbo to create balance. God bless |
leokid866:You haven’t been following the debate from the beginning. I said from the start that Biafra had already called off the war ! So why would they return to a war they’ve already called off ? Hence no one on this forum has been able to answer my first question? Which battle did Nigeria win to end the Biafran war ? Please name the battle the date it took place and location it took place. I tired of the hide and seek comments. If I don’t get a factual and historical answer, I’m out folks. God bless you all |
leokid866:But you’re wrong and he’s right! If Biafra had allies as you said why were they always short of weapons and why did they not ever have game changing and war winning weapons? But Nigeria on the other hand was armed to teeth by world powers. The British sold weapons at 75% discount to Nigeria, virtually free and even ran out of ammunition to sell it sold its own armed forces munitions. Russia sold heavy guns 122mm artillery pieces the best at the time and mig and illyshin fighter jets and got the unfinished Ajaokuta steel complex. But Biafra manufactured 56% of her own war weapons and bought 40% on the black market at exorbitant prices and the rest from France etc. God bless |
FrLukas:Let me ignore most parts of your post as it shows you have not read upto 5 books on the civil war, my guess entirely. But yes they weren’t held at gun point but there was a shouting match between the Biafran contingent and Gen Obasanjo where he suggested they return to the field and continue fighting and surrender when they lose. Look reading and research is very hard for Nigerians to do hence it’s easier to hurl insults instead of intellect. Read my command by Obasanjo and my memoirs by brig anwunah. The facts are documented. I’m also aware that non igbos love to hear the ojukwu ran away version of the war etc but any serious student of history will see the dispassionate facts for themselves. So my proofs are in the books quoted find them and read them. Also read joe achuzie’s interview on Biafran war. God bless (Modify) (Quote) (Report) (Share) |
What is this one saying Sorry I erroneously answered you God bless |
Osidazz19:No the Germans did lose the war cos the Russians got to hitlers bunker and mounted their flag on the reichstag and utterly took every inch of Berlin with Germany waving the white flag. Biafra in the other hand invited Nigerian troops to Amichi at Bernard Odogwu’s house after it was agreed by its high command to call off the war. Read joe Achuzie’s interview, he’s the one who invited Gen Akinrinade to hold negotiations. Also read Col Ihenacho’s book where he was tasked with holding off Nigerian troops to allow the first speech by Gen Effiong to read effectively ending the war. Hence my initial question asking you or anyone else to name the actual battle Nigeria won that collapsed Biafra? Such battle doesn’t exist but what exists is numerous factors including military one of course that lead to Biafra calling off the war. God bless |
Osidazz19:Read my questions again and give pointed answers to them. Mind you I’m aware of of what you posted above and yes Gen Effiong read those out to the world and it’s on video etc. But what you’re not aware of is that they were forced into that position, they thought they were at Dodan barrack for negotiations. Read Gen Obasanjo’s my command and Brig Pat Awuna’s book as well. In total you’ve posted a speech made after the war was called off. God bless |
Osidazz19:I take it you have no time for intelligent debate and I cannot begrudge you for that and I hope you don’t begrudge me for not insulting you back as you probably wish. But until you or anyone else can destroy my questions with facts I guess it’s have a good weekend. God bless you |
Osidazz19:Doesn’t answer the question and I don’t do insults but I do facts. Do shut me off my crack pipe with facts. God bless |
Okoyiboz3:You actually have no proof Biafra was defeated in battle if you do please tell us the time, date and location of the final battle that collapsed Biafra. On the other hand, the Biafrans called off the war due to numerous reasons. Finally I know it sounds good to say ojukwu ran away but again that’s the figment of an imagination. Again if you the proof of him running away happily show it. God bless |
FrLukas:My bad ! I meant where you said the leader had the chance to insert secession in the constitution but balked at the idea? Do you have a direct source? God bless |
