Politics / Tribunal To Deliver Judgement On PDP Suit Against Tinubu, Shettima On May 26 by Antimandatethie(m): 6:10pm On May 22, 2023
The supreme court has fixed May 26 to deliver judgment in a suit seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as presidential and vice- presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The judgment will be delivered three days before the inauguration of the president-elect and the vice-president-elect.

The PDP, in the suit filed on July 28, 2022, claimed that Shettima’s nomination as Tinubu’s running mate was in breach of the provisions of sections 29(1), 33, 35, and 84(1)(2) of the electoral act, 2022.

The party argued that Shettima’s nomination to contest the position of vice-president and Borno central senatorial seat — at the same time — contravened the law.

The PDP, which sought an order disqualifying the APC, Tinubu, and Shettima from contesting the presidential election, also sought an order nullifying their candidacies.

However, Inyang Ekwo, the trial judge at the court of appeal, dismissed the suit on the grounds that the PDP lacked the locus standi to institute the suit.

Not satisfied, the PDP appealed the judgment.

a three-member panel of the court of appealDelivering judgment in the appeal, led by James Abundaga held that the PDP failed to establish that it had locus standi to institute the case.

Abundaga described the PDP as a “busybody”, who dabbled into issues that were internal affairs of the APC.

“The appellant, having failed to disclose its locus standi, this appeal fails and it is hereby dismissed,” he said.

The judge also awarded N5 million cost against the appellant’s lawyer, J. O. Olotu.

Sports / You’re Arrogant – Usa’s Eric Wynalda Slams Southgate Over Comment On Balogun by Antimandatethie(m): 7:31am On May 22, 2023
Former United States forward, Eric Wynalda has slammed England manager, Gareth Southgate, accusing him of being arrogant which has caused the Three Lions to miss out on Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

Balogun, who was eligible to play for Nigeria, England and USA, announced last week that he would be representing the Americans on senior level, having played for the Young Lions on youth level.

Balogun has been in top form this season for French side Reims where he is on loan from Arsenal, playing 35 games in Ligue 1 and scoring 20 goals and providing three assists.

Speaking on The Action Network, Wynalda noted that England has missed out on the young talented striker because of ‘English Arrogance.’

“Gareth Southgate has certainly made some missteps here with his comments about the talented American playing in France.

Southgate said: ‘We can’t just hand out international opportunities to a player simply because we don’t want them to play for somebody else’.

“Whoops – If he could take that one back now I think he would.”

Eric Wynalda claimed that the England manager had underestimated the 21-year- old’s ability.

“Southgate has completely underestimated Folarin’s ability and tried to shrug it off.

Sorry, but there are times where English arrogance needs to be illuminated and this is one of them,” he added.

Politics / Re: Throwback Post: Reasons Why Buhari Should Never Rule Nigeria by Antimandatethie(m): 6:59pm On May 20, 2023

17. Buhari discriminated against persons from other ethnic groups/faiths; and that as PTF Chairman, he employed an overwhelming number of Fulani/Hausa/Moslem people at the detriment of other groups and concentrated PTF projects in the North. If in doubt read El Rufai's testimony where he wrote about Katsina boys who used the money they made at PTF to bankroll Yar'Adua's election in 1999.

18. Buhari is unforgiven. When he "took over" by coup in 1983, even remembered an article written a very very long time ago by Bisi Onabanjo ('The Mallams are coming') and a later one in which Onabanjo wrote that people should watch out for that "gangly officer from the north" after Buhari gave a no holds barred speech at some Army function where he was reported to be very openly pro Fulani and pro Islam to the exclusive of all else and also talked about termination of democratic rule. For that, Onabanjo got one of the harshest jail terms and treatments.

19. Buhari intolerance is worse than Obasanjo's. When he was adopted as the ANPP's candidate on the night of the party's Primaries without prior warning to the other candidates and a few of them protested, Buhari got up and made a speech that those people must be disciplined. I subsequently saw him on BBC's "hard talk" and he frightened me and the interviewer with his archaic and fundamentalist intolerant views. His understanding and articulation is very much in doubt.

20. The evil genius, IBB and his crew similarly ran rings around Buhari. On the 10th anniversary of Abacha's demise, Buhari said that Abacha stole nothing from Nigeria! Despite millions of Dollars recovered from banks around the world and the Abacha family signing a formal agreement to return over $1 billion dollars, Buhari still said that Abacha's stealing remains an unproved allegation!!!! Why? Because Abacha set Buhari up like an emperor and let him use oil money from the Niger Delta to develop the North without supervision or questions.

21. Buhari snubbed the same Nigerians he now wants their votes by refusing to appear before Justice Oputa Truth and Reconciliation Panel. Despite the fact that Buhari knew how inportant reconciliation is to the stability of democracy. Buhari has never apologised at anytime.

22. Buhari executed Lawal Ojuolape (30), Bernard Ogedengbe (29) and Bartholomew Owoh (26). To put it quite plainly, one of those three – Ogedengbe - was executed for a crime that did not carry a capital forfeit at the time it was committed. and At the time Ogedengbe committed the crime it did not carry that punishment. If we must live as civilised citizens we must go by the rules. Article 11.2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads: "No one shall be held guilty of any penal offence on account of any act or omission WHICH DID NOT CONSTITUTE A PENAL OFFENCE, under national or international law at the time when it was committed. NOR SHALL A HEAVIER PUNISHMENT BE IMPOSED THAN THE ONE THAT WAS APPLICABLE AT THE TIME THE PENAL OFFENCE WAS COMMITTED. Killing people with retroactive laws is not the civilised thing to do - and for as long as we will have people who refuse to see the truth only because their heroes are inching to rule when they have not purged themselves we will continue to wallow in misery.

If Nigerians reward dangerous, insensitive, dishonest, mean, cruel, partial, egoistic, religious, fundamendalist, conscienceless human being like MOHAMMADU BUHARI with the presidency of Nigeria with his kind of track record, then why do we still wonder why Nigeria has not and will not make it?
I can not in good conscience support Buhari's candidacy on the above grounds. I wish we have intelligent people who know what democracy means. I wish we have civilized minds. However, I am 100 percent sure that Buhari will never again rule Nigeria.
For the good of Nigeria, vote any other candidate, but SAY NO TO BUHARI!!!"

1. He is an oligarch who does not believe in equality before the law. The way he jailed Lateef Jakande, Jim Nwobodo, Ambrose Ali, Pa Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Ayo Ojewumi on cases that had no foundation and allowed Awwal Ibrahim, the then Niger State governor, who was arrested in Heathrow Airport in London with 14 million pounds sterling and several millions of Niara and dollars to be under house arrest is my evidence. He also allowed Shehu Kangiwa, Sokoto State Governor who conducted and supervised the famous Bakolori Massacre of poor peasant farmers whose land were appropriated without compesation to remain under house arrest.

1(a) Ayo Ojewumi became blind as a result of his imprisonment over false charges and died shortly after.

1 (b) Prof. Ambrose Alli also became blind as a result of this false imprisonment. When he died, he had only one undeveloped plot of land to his name.

1© Pa Adekule Ajasin was never the same after his eventual release and remained sickly for the rest of his life. Whe he died, he never had any property anywhere in the world except the one he had built from his sweat as long term teacher and school principal in Owo township.

2. He put in place a retroactive law that killed three men, innocent men in my book, by public execution. He left untouched an alleged well known drug baron in Ibrahim Babangida who later overthrew his government.

3. He jailed Ndukar Irabor and Tunde Thompson of the Guardian on stories that were factually true under Decree 4. He had told the Nigerian journalists then that it did not matter whether the story reported was true or not, if his regime did not like it, the writer would go to jail.

4. He supervised the smuggling of 53 suitcases filled with cash througth the MMA against the protests of General Tunde Idiagbon and ironically, Abubakar Atiku, the then Director General of the Customs who later became the Vice President and a compromised politician himself. This smuggling of the suit cases were supervised by his ADC, Col. Mustapha Jokolo.

5. He jailed Fela Anikulapo -Kuti on trumped up charges under emergency law which prompted the sentencing judge to confess that he was ordered to do so and apologised to the late musician. It was Buhari's administration that said it has "decided to deal with this Fela problem once and for all."

6. He convinced all the northern political leaders against allowing the National Identity Card program because according to him, this would unravel the myth of Northern population majority

7. He is an Islamic fundamentalist, the Bin Laden of Nigeria, who told his northern followers never to vote for anyone who was not a muslim.

8. He is a coup plotter.

9. He has never been able to account to Nigerians what he did with the 20 billion Naira of the Petroleum Trust Fund of which he was the chairman under Sani Abacha.

9(a) He has not been able to point to any project that he prosecuted outside the Northern Nigeria with the so-caled trust fund.

10. He was in full support of all the atrocities of Sani Abacha against the Nigerian people. There is no single record of his criticism of Sani Abacha during those dark days when Nigeria was on precipice. It shows that he is a patriot of convenience and as such unfit to lead the country.

11. Buhari, as part of his tribalistic practices placed President Shagari under house arrest inside a palatia mansion in Ikoyi while he locked up Shagari's Vice, Alex Ekwueme in Kirikiri Prison. Shagari is Hausa/Fulani like him while Alex Ekwueme is an Igboman.

12. Ikemba Emeka Ojukwu, another Igboman who returned from 13years exile just a little over a year then was as well locked up in Kiri Kiri Prison by meanhearted Buhari.Up till today we are not told what was Emeka's offence.

13. Busari Adelakun died of ulcer because Buhari refused him to be taken out of prison for immediate medical attention. The then Governor of Ogun State,Bisi Onabanjo suffered similar fate which we were told led to his untimely death.

14. Buhari ransacked the house of our late sage, Obafemi Awolowo and confisticated his International passport. Which civilized democratic society would elect the likes of Buhari as President, the same individual who overthrew an elected President? Never!

15. Plus Buhari having Sam Mbakwe in jail, went for one of Mbakwe's wives. He established himself again for what he was/is letting Mbakwe receive in jailhouse news of the death of another of Mbakwe's two wives. One (I can't remember his name now; Odenigbo?) also died in jail.

16. Buhari's henchman and sponsor, CPC governorship candidate for Kano State, is Mohammed Abacha, the same person that had/ran a personal killing squad, co ordinated the killing of Kudirat Abiola & attempted to kill Ibru; and also stashed money in underground tanks, all less than 13 years ago, Nigerians have very short selective memory. Shame!

A
Politics / Release Nnamdi Kanu Unconditionally – Simon Ekpa Tells Buhari, Malami by Antimandatethie(m): 2:45pm On May 19, 2023
In a statement on Friday, the Finland-based lawyer and self Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE, disclosed this.

A popular Biafra agitator, and separatist, Simon Ekpa, has called on the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister for Justice and Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami, SAN, for an unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

According to him, the federal government, under the watch of Buhari, continued to keep Nnamdi Kanu despite several court orders requesting his release.

“We are writing to you to officially request an unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to formally notify you of the establishment of Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, and to organize a referendum for a peaceful and bloodless exit of Biafra from Nigeria.

“The United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention indicted Nigeria’s Federal Government for the arrest and extraordinary rendition, torture and continued detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra,(IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, without due process.

The council equally ordered you (the Nigerian government) to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and pay him adequate compensation for the arbitrary violation of his fundamental human rights (Vanguard News, May 29, 2022).

You were given six months to execute this order. However, six months have expired, and you are still holding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in captivity.

When Igbo Elders, led by Hon. Mbazulike Amechi, went to plead with the President to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the President insisted that justice must take its cause and that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must face trial in court.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu went through trials in court with competent jurisdiction, in appeal number CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, and the court delivered its judgement on October 13 2022, discharged Mazi Kanu of all charges you brought against him; hence the court proved him innocent, however till date, you are still holding him captive in your dungeon against the law.

“Your reason for kidnapping him was to quench the Biafra Liberation.

We wish to inform you that your motive has failed woefully, as the Liberation of Biafra has gained global momentum and is being discussed at the highest level as the only solution for lasting peace.

Since you refuse to obey your court of law, are you implying and demonstrating that Nigeria is now a lawless country? The retired judge Oludotun Adefope- Okogie who was among the judges that gave the verdict that declared Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Innocent, stated that “The courts must stand up to their responsibility of calling the Executive to order when they engage in Executive Lawlessness.

We are reminding you that the presidency and Attorney General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that you are head-deep into executive lawlessness for holding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu captive against the law.

It has further exposed you to the international community.

The present administration has failed Nigerians, and Injustice, inequity, insecurity, lawlessness, and religious and tribal bigotry have become the order of the day.

Never has Nigeria been polarized in its history than in this
administration. Biafra is determined to exit Nigeria due to these gross injustices and structural imbalances in Nigeria.

Because of the above, the Federal Government has shown Biafrans that they are not safe, protected or equal stakeholders in the Nigeria project.

It should be pointed out here that the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights states that “every citizen in any African country has the right to say that he/she is no longer interested in remaining in that country”.

Therefore, a call by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Biafrans for a referendum and peaceful exit from Nigeria is a human right and its not a call for war or hostility, so why is the presidency and attorney general of the federal republic of Nigeria bent on holding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu captive and are killing Biafra people for asking for a referendum? The Amalgamation of the Southern and Northern protectorates by the British in 1914 was to last for 100 years.

The amalgamation document stated, “after 100 years, any region, tribe or race who are uncomfortable with Nigeria, can request to exit Nigeria”.

You all are aware of all these, so why are you fighting the Biafrans and unleashing terror in Biafra Land? However, you can never stop us.

We have made the holding of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in lawless captivity more costly for you than releasing him unconditionally.

“We wish to inform you formally that we have moved on to form the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, and our people are solidly behind us.

The Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) of the Indigenous People of Biafra is established to undertake the political and administrative governance of the Biafra nation from outside of Biafra territory.

They undertake diplomatic and foreign relationships, arrangements and agreements, negotiations and pacts with other nations and interest organizations of the world on behalf of the Biafra People.

They are to be accorded all diplomatic privileges as due to any government official of their respective level.

Biafra people, through their government in exile, are requesting you to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from your lawless captivity and organize a referendum for a peaceful exit of Biafra from Nigeria.

On May 29 2023, the Biafra Republic government In-Exile and its cabinet will give a vote of no confidence to all elected (selected) corrupt officials from Biafra Land.

We invite you to observe this historic day which will be transmitted live on all platforms.

“The impact of the Biafra Republic Government in exile is being felt across the globe; that very soon, the world will welcome a new nation (Biafra) into the committee of progressive countries. Nigeria, because of your gross abuse of human rights, victimization of the innocent, insecurity, and threat to progressive civilization, the United States of America will soon declare Nigeria a Protected Territory Status, and you know what that means.

It’s an indictment.

“Recently Nigeria sent their “unknown gunmen” to go and attack the convoy of American Consulate staff in Biafra land for no just cause.

The Biafra Republic Government in Exile wishes to remind the presidency and attorney general of the federation of Nigeria that power is transient and that there is still private life after serving in temporary political positions.

Therefore, using this time, you still have to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and organize a referendum for a peaceful exit of Biafra from Nigeria”.

In another development, an Israeli military general, Brig.-Gen.

(res.) Amir Avivi, the founder of the IDSF, liked a comment suggesting that Biafra should be given a referendum.

Politics / I’ll Be At Presidential Tribunal Court On Friday – Lamidi Apapa Vows by Antimandatethie(m): 3:32pm On May 18, 2023
The factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, has vowed that he will again, storm the Presidential Petition Tribunal on Friday.

DAILY POST had reported that Apapa and Mr Julius Abure’s factions clashed during the court proceeding on Wednesday as they both claimed leadership of the party.

The court refused to recognize the two factions and adjourned the hearing to Friday, May 19.

But speaking on the matter while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Apapa said he will be in the court on Friday.

He also accused the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and the suspended National Chairman, Julius Abure of allegedly sponsoring thugs to beat him out of the Presidential Petition Tribunal on Wednesday.

According to him, he was in the court on Wednesday because “it was my responsibility as the authentic acting National Chairman of the party to exercise my authority as representative of the party”.

Politics / Timesofisrael Nominates Nnamdi Kanu For Jewish Nobel Prize by Antimandatethie(m): 2:52pm On May 18, 2023
A popular Jewish Journalist at Times Of Israel, Shashi Ishai, has nominated the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, for Jewish Nobel Prize, and called on others to also Nominate the Biafran freedom fighter for the Prize.

The Nobel Prize is aimed at fostering Jewish identity, inspire Jewish pride and strengthen the bond between Israel and the Diaspora.

IGBERE TV reports that the Prize celebrates Jewish talent and achievement, honoring individuals for their accomplishments and commitment to Jewish values, inspiring Jews to connect to their heritage and to Israel.

The vision of the Genesis Prize is a strong and vibrant Jewish people, aware of its roots while looking to the future; a Jewish community flourishing in diversity, yet united in appreciation of Jewish values and support for the Jewish State.

IGBERE TV recalls that the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the remand of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu till July 26, 2021 following his arrest.

The Department of State Services (DSS) took Kanu to court same day his arrest was announced.

Kanu was re-arraigned on charges bordering on alleged treason.

Justice Binta Nyako said he is to be remanded in DSS custody pending the determination of his trial.

The IPOB leader appeared in court without his lawyer or any member of his defence team.

Kanu told the court that he decided to go underground because his house was raided but he was able to escape.

He said if he had not escaped, he might have been killed like other members of the group.

The judge, who advised him not to feel discomfiture to stand his trial, urged him to get across to his lawyer for the trial.

Kanu was first arrested on October 14, 2015, and arraigned on 11-count charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, illegal possession of firearms and improper importation of goods, among others.

Crime / Plateau Attacks: Death Toll Now 85 – Mwaghavul Association by Antimandatethie(m): 8:15am On May 18, 2023
The National President of Mwaghavul Development Association, Joseph Gwankat says death toll has risen to 85 after the deadly attacks on Fungzai and Kubwat villages in Kombun District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday after a security meeting at the palace of the traditional ruler in Mangu, he explained that the search in the affected communities for missing persons was still ongoing.

The police, however, have yet to give the casualty figure on the attacks in the two villages.

According to him, several communities were attacked by suspected Fulani militias at the same time, leading to killings, burning of houses and the destruction of farmlands in the affected communities, worth millions of naira.

Following the incessant attacks, protesting women besieged the palace of the traditional ruler where the security meeting was being held with security chiefs, district heads, and government officials led by the deputy governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden.

The Mishkcham Mwaghavul, John Putmang, the Council chairman and district heads from the communities, appealed for security reinforcement to the communities to safeguard citizens and their valuables.

According to Joseph Gwankat, “Fifty-seven (57) victims were given a mass burial on Wednesday amid tears by relatives and members of the community who gathered to witness the funeral service.”

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar has said nothing can stop the inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29.

He spoke at a roundtable engagement with traditional and religious rulers which was organized by the World Bank on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said: “There must be change because in the next few days or weeks there will be a new government; what can we contribute to that government to stabilize?

“Whether anybody likes it, it must take place, a new government is coming on May 29, so what can we do besides prayers, because we believe in the Almighty, we believe in God that gives and takes.

“After that so what? What do we do to help the government stabilize and move the country forward?”

He charged Nigerians to be united and work towards ensuring equity and justice.

Politics / Tribunal: Why Atiku’s Application For Live Coverage Must Be Rejected – Tinubu by Antimandatethie(m): 7:42am On May 18, 2023
President–elect, Bola Tinubu, has said the live broadcast of the Presidential Election Tribunal is an abuse of the court process.

Reacting to an application filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Tinubu urged the tribunal to discountenance such a move.

He prayed the court to refuse the application on the grounds that “the court is not a rostrum or a soapbox and not also a stadium or theatre. It is not an arena for ‘public’ entertainment.”

In a counter-affidavit filed by his counsel, Wole Olanipekun, the President-elect argued that the application was not within the tribunal’s jurisdiction.

He stressed that the issue Atiku raised touched on policy formulation.

“The application also touches on the powers and jurisdiction invested in the President of the Court of Appeal by the Constitution, over which this honourable court as presently constituted cannot entertain.

“The application touches on the administrative functions, which are exclusively reserved for the President of the Court of Appeal.

The application is aimed at dissipating the precious judicial time of this honourable court.

“The said application does not have any bearing with the petition filed by the petitioners before this honourable court.

It is in the interest of justice for this honourable court to dismiss the said application filed by the petitioners,” he said.

Politics / APC Chieftain Adamu Garba Alleges Obidients Killed US Embassy Officials by Antimandatethie(m): 2:08pm On May 17, 2023
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Adamu Garba has blamed supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate in the recently concluded election, popularly known as Obidients for the killing of two US embassy officials.

DAILY POST reports that two United States embassy officials and two Nigerian policemen accompanying them were recently murdered by gunmen in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the APC chieftain fingered Obidients, alleging there are possibilities that the gunmen who carried out the attack are supporters of Obi. In a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, Adamu wrote,

“IPOB/ESN have advanced recently.

They even killed US embassy staff in Nigeria and burned their corpses to ashes.

“The killing took place in Anambra, a state where Peter Obi got 98% votes in the last election.

“The probability that those who killed these American Embassy workers are members of the Obidient movement is 0.98. And the probability that they are not is 0.02.

“Going by mathematical approximation, there is a greater degree of certainty that those who killed and burnt to ashes, the American embassy workers are Obidients”.
