CAMNEWTON4PRES: i don't discuss with blind people, I don't want the spam bot to ban me, posted enough articles and links to show you our production , which keep improving.

Keep in mind that we are generous with our electricity
That's why Adamawa state people can now enjoy light.

We supply the whole Cemac.

Beside grabbing lands what have u ever done for us?

In terms of intelligence and depth on issues of politics and development in Africa, I am not your mate. I call you an ignorant person who is insolent. How can you not know the power plants in your country? How can you not know the power generation capacity in your country? Such ingnorance is inexcusable from a fellow that is quick to point fingers from his leaking hut.

Lol @ a country of 200M people boasting about 26 millions Kmw

You wrote indefensible nonsense of generating more than 814 MWs in Cameroon. I have given you a list of all the power plants in your country and the generating capacity. I think you should dispute that.

I posted an article here.keep digging 2002 stats .

Link to what? Do you not know the power plants in your country and the generating capacity? Those are the hydroelectric power plants and their generating capacity in Cameroon. The only thermal plant is under construction to generate just above 200MW. Presently Cameroon generates just above 800MW. If you dispute this, list those power plants that the combined generation will give you MWs in excess of the values I have stated above. You should ashamed of yourself.

What have you ever done for Cameroon? The tiny nation?

Last but not the least we supply the whole CEmac ..you can check yourself.
Edea Power Station[1] 204 MW
Song Loulou Power Station 384 MW
Lagdo Power Station 72 MW
Memve'ele Power Station 200 MW
Biya has added only 272 MW of power since taking over power in 1982. If you have any other power plants that sets you generating capacity above 814 MW, bring it up.

At least 99 per cent of work at the Kribi Gas-fired Power Plant (KPDC) has been executed, making it ready for energy supply. Energy and Water Resources Minister was on the site on Thursday to confirm efforts to that effect. The plant which was supposed to have started functioning by initial start date by end of February, 2013 was delayed. The National Hydrocarbons Corporation, SNH, announces gas supply for the plant at the end of February 2013.

However, a new date of operation has been set. Following a recent Presidential instruction, SNH will supply the required natural gas by February 28 for effective energy supply by the plant beginning last week of March, 2013. This information was disclosed during an official visit to project site in Kribi, South Region, by the Energy and Water Resources Minister Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna yesterday January 10. The visit was in line with this instruction and efforts to meet the energy needs of consumers which is said to be rapidly increasing and to prevent energy rationing as we enter more severe periods of the dry season when water level is already dropping in the Sanaga drainage basin. After a guided tour of the plant, the Minister said with certainty that the Kribi Gas-fired Power Plant is complete and will start functioning on March 1 this year. SNH has been given a deadline of February 28 to supply natural gas to the plant. According to KPDC Technical Director, Jeremie Bitanga, the company will from March 1 to 7 be filling, testing and adjusting its machines. Between March 7 to the beginning of the last week of March, the machines will be permanently on to confirm their effectiveness to transmit energy; after which it will begin steady supply of energy to supplement current energy supply by AES-Sonel. Speaking on the importance of the plant, the General Manager of KPDC, Hans Francis Simb Nag, said it offers additional capacity (216 megawatts) to the current supply 1015 megawatts supply by AES in Cameroon. It will help curb blackouts and energy rationing as a result of insufficient power supply, by adding more than 20 per cent energy to the existing energy capacity by AES. All the generation and transmission facilities have been constructed. The 13 generating units have been installed to offer a total capacity of 216 megawatts of energy. This provision is significant and supplemental to the existing 1,015 megawatts generation capacity by AES-Sonel and Dibamba Power Development Company. So far, six of the 13 generating units had been tested with gas oil (diesel) and confirmed yesterday, January 10, to use natural gas. The new 225 KV transmission line (100 km) between Kribi and Edea, the new transformer substation in Kribi and the extension of the Mangombe (Edea) network system control substation have been completed and commissioned since September 2012.

CAMNEWTON4PRES: undecided undecided : [NUOS Intl] Adamawa begs Cameroon for electricity

YOLA—A high powered delegation comprising the Adamawa State Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) officials and some consultants have left Yola for Cameroon for further discussions on the desirability of the Lagdo Dam to supply electricity to the state. The team, made up of experts in energy is on a fact-finding mission to see the viability in terms of financing, technical content of generating power in Adamawa and improving the economic base of the state.

Addressing the team before their departure, Governor Murtala Nyako believed that the composition of the team is an indication that the project will take-off on a sound footing, be viable and, on the long run, a successful venture.

Nyako noted that the idea of the project was muted because of the handicap in the power sector of the country generally, saying that states are required to source for means of using power rating at their disposal to remedy the situation.

The Governor observed that the choice of the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon was because it is in its immediate neighbourhood and they share many things in common.

"Because of the cultural ties between us and Cameroon, the state government spoke to them on the need for them to give us source of energy, which they obliged. After their approval, we wrote the Presidency and the Ministry of Energy and Power and the whole concept was developed," the Governor disclosed.

He added that the slight delay experienced in the take-off of the project was because of the issue of Bakassi Peninsula which has been resolved, adding that moments after the resolution, serious discussions were held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs

CAMNEWTON4PRES:

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has set up a committee to look into the acute shortage in power supply that has hit the state capital, Yola.

The state lawmakers resolved that the devastating drop in power supply had become an issue of ‘important public matter’.

At Monday’s session, a motion to that effect was moved by Wafari Theman, a member representing Hong state constituency.

Mr. Theman described the energy situation as “debilitating” and in his prayer, urged the intervention of his colleagues and the speaker of the house.

After extensive deliberation on the matter, the speaker, Ahmed Umaru Fintiri, directed a five-man committee, headed by Mr. Theman, to be set up.

Residents of the Yola, have been experiencing excruciating discomfort since the rather severe drop in power supply from the national grid. Once, the national grid supplied about 30 megawatts to the capital, but in the past few weeks, only about 33% of that supply has been available for consumption.

In Yola, the weather at this time of the year is characterized by intense hot-dry-air and residents who have had to bear prolonged periods of power shortage at a time they need it the most have been groaning profusely.

Many of the residents who spoke on the epileptic power supply in the North-east state, accused officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, of sharp practices and inequitable treatment of consumers.

They alleged that the PHCN officials charge exorbitant fees for consumers to migrate to “hotlines”.

According to Mrs. Oaya, a resident of Masakare, Yola, PHCN gives preferential treatment to those on the hotline.

“PHCN ensure consumers on those lines have steady electricity supply. Thus, abandoning the practice of “load shedding, which ensures equitable distribution of electricity to all segment of the society,” Mrs Oaya said.

Premium Times investigations revealed that it cost about N70,000 to N80,000 to migrate from the normal PHCN distribution lines to the PHCN “hotlines’.

A Premium Times reporter also observed that in major settlement such as Masakare, Karewa, Nyibango, Commissioners quarters, and some sprawling new settlement, many household sign-up to the buzz to escape the excessively hot weather in Yola.

Regrettably, a large number of residents cannot afford the “hotline” treatment. They have described the fad as unjust and negating the load shedding principle which enables equal distribution to all areas.

However, one of the PHCN technical staff, who simply identified his name as Joseph, blamed the development on the shortfall in electricity supply to the state from 30 MW to around 11MW, as being partly responsible for the erratic electricity supply.

He said the decision by the PHCN to allocate hotlines to selected higher revenue generating environs had become“necessary because of the need for the PHCN to meet its revenue targets”.

But in the bid to meet the revenue targets, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria is causing great discomfort to the teeming number of residents who cannot afford the hotlines. They wallow painfully in the heat.

The Adamawa lawmakers are uncomfortable with the poor power supply situation, saying it poses adverse socio-economic consequence and health challenges; including the possible outbreak of cerebro-spinal meningitis if no proactive step is taken.

In another vain, the Adamawa state government has resorted to augmenting electricity supplied to the state by asking Cameroon to supply the national grid with 30 Mega watts of electricity. This understanding between the state government and Cameroon, Premium Times findings reveal, has reached advanced stage

http://premiumtimesng.com/metro/4196-adamawa-assembly-intervenes-in-erratic-power-supply-situation.html

Is the 30MW the same as the one in the news item below? Adamawa state does not get its power supply from Cameroon. Cameroon cannot give what it does not have. I mean Cameroon generates 814 MW.

Ddaji: @OP thanks for your sincere assessment of sokoto and your positive comments.iam from sokoto,Dogondaji presently working in Abuja.Honestly iam humble by your good attitude.I remember there is a time that one guy open thread on why northerners are under represented on nairaland. But with all honestly there are many northerners in nairaland as dormant members bcs we take nairaland as a forum for display of bad upbringing of southerners, which is not our culture.many bigots southerners will tell you that northerners are illitrates. But the question How what is the yardstick?are southern lagislators more educated then northern legislators? Are southern governors more educated then their north counterpart, are southern ministers, head of government agencies or civil servant more active or educated then their northern counterpart .Dangote, dantata, samaila isah and many others are they from moon?they have thousands sourtherns in their payroll. The number of churches in sokoto alone are morethan the number of mosques in the whole south-south and south east combine.so what are they talking about.I have been to these city lagos, ibadan, akure, portharcout, calabar.uyo(where I did my nysc),owerri, onisha, asaba, enugu, aba, etc.

Comment on the pictures and stop insulting people. Nonsense.
