Kenyas has only gone to war once, the first being the invasion and assault of Al shabbab based in Somalia. Due to poor Somalia infrastructure the Kenyan army concentrated on air assault.

The same army you're proud of is responsible for nigeria looking like it just came out of war. Naija is shitty looking because your army has overthrown your civilian rule and abrogated the constitution severally I lost count. They went ahead to steal billions. Abacha stole so much there is still billions of unclaimed naira money in foreign banks..

You pay army private 150 usd & major less than 1,000 per month- and you're(Shell) exporting all those billions dollars - while we pay our private 400USD and army major nearly 4,000usd - and you call yourself African giant. You only have 110 army planes against our 130?

Show us where you've hidden this gdp - preferably in pictures?

the Nigeria that looks like it just came out of war has produced wole soyinka and chinua achebe, pioneers of African literature. I know you read things fall apart as a standard text in school. this war torn Nigeria has produced the likes of elechi amadi and other renowned authors more numbers than any other country in black africa.

the Nigeria that looks like it just came out of war has grown a movie industry fro nothing that even Kenya had to send some its citizens for training.
it has also produced the richest black man on planet earth. hence your inferiority complex.

There is reason why Kenya is miles ahead of all our neighbors. We use our brains. If that makes us coward.

The brave UG and Ethiopia have seen wars for 20-30 yrs each and are ever on tenterhook of another army taking over. Heck their current gov are rebels/army controlled. This is the same with Nigeria.

Kenya is civilian country that nobody cares about the army - The job of the army is act as deterrent - not to see action.

You are not miles ahead of your neighbours. Kenya is not better than Tanzania. You are quick to insult the Nigerian army that has fought to bring peace in Liberia and Sierra -Leone and that is standing firmly against Isis inspired terrorism. That is the army you insult and ridicule whilst your National army is a reserve of redundant tools that should actually be mocked.

Kenya has long pursued non-interference policy and has been little switzerland in Africa. We contribute to UN peace keeping forces. We only invaded Somalia when they become too much. Otherwise save for TZ - all our neighbours have been in long drawn wars - and we have benefited economically as oasis of peace. Even Alshabbab invest in Kenya.

Your don't send a indiscipline army like Naija abroad and expect peace. Nigeria army has overthrown civilian rule in Nigeria how many times. Isn't it part of main reason why Nigeria is messed up.

Kenya army is the most disciplined, the most professional and the least political in Africa. We don't sleep thinking one day our military will wake up and overthrow our civilian gov. Never gonna happen. They are well paid and happy.

The policy of cowards !! In east Africa, we know which army to respect. it is not your so call disciplined army that was caught on video stealing jewelries in the heat of the west mall terrorist attack. they are so well paid to steal. the Ugandan army has seen battle, same with Ethiopia, all in a bid to stabilize ur neighbour and therefore are respected and ranked above your so called army. even when you claimed to intervene in somalia, what is the worth of your efforts.

Again let nigeria win the war against boko haram and bring the chibok girls before you talk about fighting elsewhere. That of course is joke. Brits rescued Liberia & Sierra leone from chaos.

Kenya defence force is lean, professional and well funded forces who have been part of UN peace keeping forces in many countries including IRAN-IRaq,Croatia,Liberia,Siera leone, South sudan, Namibia, Bosnia- Herzegovinia, Kuwait, wester Sahara, Mozambique, Rwanda, Angola and Somalia.

Kenya defence force is certainly one of Africa most respected.
Kenya’s military officers have occupied several senior positions within UN peacekeeping operations, including two Chief Military Observers (UNOMIL), Force Commander (UNMIL), Force Commander (UNAMSIL), a Deputy Force Commander (UNTAG), a Chairman of Joint Verification Committee (ONUMOZ), a Sector Commander (UNPROFOR), a Senior Military Liaison Officer (UNPROFOR), a Deputy Sector Commander (UNPROFOR), a Chief of Staff (UNPROFOR), and a Garrison Commander (UNPROFOR)

Nigerian army will win the war. And are those the achievements of your respectable army ? Really ? What a mighty Kenyan army. A country and army that sat by while its neighbour in consumed in a long drawn war, for over 20 years, only for UDF to show up.

I wish GDP could be canned into koolAid so Nigeria can drink it. As of now that GDP is useless. It just a figure concocted by Nigeria Stats Office.

It doesn't pay for salaries for gov workers in Nigeria which are routinely delayed. It doesn't build roads. GdP doesn't supply power.

What matters is what money is in Nigeria bank account - to ran the economies of private households, companies and gov. And there isn't much.

Your GDP cannot help your army when all it gives them is 0.9B usd for 130,000 force - that is been ran around by Boko Haram!!!!!!!!!!!

has this depraved ranting of yours changed the fact of who the biggest economy in Africa is?

Nigerian army is our pride. We fight and win wars. We fought in Liberia, Sierra Leone and elsewhere. Tell me one single effort your well funded army has done and a single war it has won? is it the al-shabba fiasco in Somalia?

The obsession with GDP and Nigerians are like identical twins..... With all that money generated from Lagos it is still considered the worst city to live in. Nairobi generates around 20% of the national GDP but boasts of the best infrastructural and modern facilities thus bagging the priced best city to live in Africa.
NAIROBI
Enjoys 24/7 electricity supply
Has 1 international airport, 1 domestic airstrip and a military airstrip
Has clean tapped water
Good road network
Has an industrial zone
Good housing
Affordable healthcare in world class hospitals

Dude, no matter how you rant here it will not take away the fact that Nigeria is Africa's biggest economy. And Lagos economy is bigger than that of your paradise. Those are facts.

Its like I said;we all have feelings:on this thread they're irrelevant! Just provide the facts and figures proving your GDP is actually 0.5 tn$. I'll give you an example why I and others disbelieve that. Here are the Naij army pay scales, from here NL:

https://www.nairaland.com/2971576/nigerian-army-salary-structure-how

You're in a fvking war and yet KDF guys get 3-3.5 times your pay?! A 70bn$ economy outpays a critical arm of gov't over 300% MORE than in a 0.5trn $ economy?!
Your docs get 200 k n or 45 k shs monthly;ours are MUCH LESS UNDERPAID at 100 k a month and will soon strike, btw. I could go on and on-NAME ME ONE THING YOU OUTDO US?? Pls don't mention those terrible movies filmed in dusty Naij backwaters beloved of our unsupervised maids and other simple minded individuals.
I challenge you, iblawi, name one POSITIVE economic activity NAIJ OUTDOES US. Provide a link and it must be per capita not on the whole. Be very very afraid;a bright Kenyan student will write a paper and get a degree on the fakery of economic stats using Naij as a case study. It happened to UG in the 90s. YoY their economy grew on paper at least 6% for over a decade-when you look for evidence on the ground a 5th world country stares you in the face!! Real GDP,roads, rail, airports and airstrips....all the factors of production are wayyyyy low.

Very true.... most Nigerians believe the bigger the structure or fancy aspects then it is efficient. As we all know Nigeria has one of the worst maintenance culture in Africa, let alone the inefficiency & ineptness of its authorities. Huge airport structures with corrupt immigration staff that manhandle travelers at airport launches doesn't make Nigeria look good in our eyes. Huge bridges but full of toll stations & traffic gridlock means nothing if it doesn't improve mobility within your cities.
The reason why the initial post was put up by an actual Nigerian is reason enough to prove to fellow Nigerians that their country is lagging in many aspects.

foolish statement !!

I greatly admire the musical contribution that Nigerians and African-Americans have given us, but if your sole objective is to musically conquer other countries, then you'll forever be just a court jester for the powers. However, I am not judging, maybe you can make a livelihood out of dancing for us Kenyans when we fully modernize Kenya (:

Indeed you are certainly a Kenyan intellect ! And you have to realise the dissonance and locality of such intellect .

Interestingly it is your people that are dancing to our music and paying in cash. It your people that are patronising nollywood content and paying in cash. The implication is we create the intellectual content and you buy and buy and buy. Such for Kenyan intellect.

Kenyans have a right to justifiably terrified, why?
The amount of Nigerians associated in theatrics and musics is disproportionally high. I'll even admit they have a talent for it, particularly the one actor Chiwetal Ejiofer. This is where you are misguided, we aren't looking to conquer Nigeria culturally. African-American culture is the most prevalent culture arguably in the world, but they're are unable to secure influential jobs, let alone, build their neighborhoods. We're looking to economically surpass others, you can stick to dancing and 'culturally dominating' other countries, I want to compete with the big boys.

Nigerians associated with music and theater is disproportionately high ? Is that why your people were protesting in Kenya? It is this abysmal display of irrationality that has been the hallmark of submissions from your kind. And probably you have no idea of the contribution of entertainment to America's GDP and even Nigeria's. And you have no idea of cultural projection in International diplomacy. You talk in a bid to shame Nigeria but you got no idea how just puerile your infantile talk is.

All these patriotic Nigerians are forced to succumb to the truth, although Nigeria is by no means even fraction as good as Kenya. I see this as an opportunity for Nigerians to learn from us. Perhaps study why Kenya is so great, try to do the same for your country. Don't be embarrassed to ask a Kenyan how to fix the economy. Seriously we won't judge.

Deluded commentary borne out of a frightening lack of contented self worth !! What have patriotic Nigerians succumbed to?? Is it the unintelligent, spiteful and derogatory commentary here. If Kenya is great, so what ?

Unhealthily flawed perceptions of one's self is dangerous and encourages laziness, looking yourself in the mirror and repeating 'I am a Cheetah' or 'I am an African giant' while your people are barely making $5 is quite laughable, but that's not even what concerns me. America (self-explanatory ) can call itself that. Also Nigerians can themselves that, I will never understand why, I'd wish they'd do it covertly, but once you start start promulgating fallacious statistics about Kenya. I'll gladly come and defend it.

You know of Nigerians that are barely making five dollars but clearly forget the Nigerian that is the richest black man ? Does creating the richest black man in our Nigerian environment not give credence to the giant tag ??....Nigerians should covertly announce that because of what ??

This right here wins the award for being the stupidest comment, are you insinuating you're okay with corruption, vandalism, an increasingly bigger class of poor people, and this somehow makes you the "big dog." Let me explain this to you as simply as possible, these things will tarnish and kill Nigeria pretty soon. I need information displaying why you're the "cheetah" or whatever you compare yourself as, because I am looking at all the charts and statistics and Nigeria looks more like a crippled ostrich waiting to annexed and saved by Kenya.

A people are free to call themselves what they feel like. Americans say America is God's own country. South Africans describe their s as the rainbow nation. Nigeria describes itself as the Giant of Africa. Does it mean that they are no challenges? Certainly no. It is therefore hopeless to sit up on a derogatory campaign that shows hate and lack of proper self esteem. This unfortunate trend is seen all over the blogosphere. It either Kenyans are raising a hash tag to insult Nigerians or some blogger is writing about the Nigerian man. Why the negative fascination of Nigeria by Kenyans. If your Country is heaven, so what !!!

O'lboy, I went to University of Uyo. So i know what iam talking about.
Nobody said Uyo never had a tarred road, until 6 years ago. Attah did roads like typical Nigerian governors just tarring the tiny lane in front of people's houses with no drainage. Which made Uyo,perpetually a flooded city.

Akpabio did roads like they do in Abuja or Germany. The roads are complete with sidewalk, underground drainage systems, street lights and road signs. Not the usual Nigerian standard of doing shoddy work. That is why Uyo looks so much modern today.

Victor Attah did solid roads. Abak road dualisation is a typical example. I am not holding brief for Attah though, as he was still corrupt. Is Uyo not still a flooded city today? Have you ever been on Udo-Umanah, Babangida Avenue (immediately after the e-library), Nsikak Udueok Avenue and a lot of other streets after it rains? You need to go there and see first hand what flooding is. So where is the underground drainage you are talking about? That he has spent billions to build the so called pipe jacking underground drainage on Ikot-Ekpene road has not in anyway stopped the flooding in the city. One would actually ask why spend billions and not solve a problem?

I am an indigene who knows the in and out of the state. What do you mean by 10 lane highway? Where is that? Where are the thousands of housing estates? Where there no street lights in Uyo prior to Akpabio? Listen, the roads Akpabio has done in Uyo are the Clabar Itu road that ends in Ekom-Iman Junction with 2 fly-overs at Itam junction (in his first term); a 6-lane high-way linking Calabar-Itu road to Aka road with 2 fly-overs (this is still under construction today)and Aka road down to Nung Udoe (completed last year). These are the roads he has done in Uyo. So do you mean to tell me it is these few roads that has so changed Uyo? Uyo was not rural at all in 2007. Put Akpabios achievements side-by-side with the enhanced revenue of Akwa-Ibom state and you will definitely be critical of his performance. You ask me, I will score him E, that between 40-45 %.

Yes o ! Talk is cheap!
Please list Fashola's achievements and compare them side by side to the transformation miracle Godswill Akpabio has worked in Akwa Ibom. Akpabio's achievements will not only dwarf Fashola's, but will make Fashola look like a criminal.

Remember Obong Victor Attah did next to nothing to uplift Uyo from a roundly rural city. But Tinubu started the re-incarnation of Lagos, which Fashola merely continued until date. Needless to say lagos was a former federal capital with numerous federal roads still being maintained by federal funds and Federal Government. While Akwa Ibom has almost zero federal roads, not to mention fly-overs, yet Godswill managed to build fly-over,ten lane highways and broad boulevards in his capital city! All within less than 6 years.

Akpabio has built a functional international airport, while Fashola's Lekki airport is still a mirage. Akpabio has built 5 star hotel,International standard aircraft maintenance hangers, thousands of housing estates all over Akwa-Ibom and a deep sea port etc! Tell me how Fashola can beat that with a mono-train line which is still dysfunctional for 6 years?

A bulk of the roads in Uyo were done by Victor Attah. Uyo was not a village when Godswill came into power. It had very good road network as at 2007. The Ibom Le Meridien Hotel and Golf resort was built and completed by Victor Attah. I went to the commissioning of that Golf course as far back as 2006 ! The MRO facility at Ibom Airport has not been completed. And where is the 10 lane highway done by Akpabio? Where are the thousands of housing estates? He promised 10000 housing units a long time ago and can only manage 2000 housing units as at today. Where is the deep sea port? I bet on paper !

Should I list the power plants in Cameroon for you again? You talk as if this is some rocket science. It is bare facts. We know the rivers in Cameroon that are dammed and how much of electricity is generated from there.

Tell me something new if there is. And I say boldly there is nothing new except a new thermal plant that is yet to be completed. The generating capacity in your country is slightly above 800MW and I place it at about 814MW, which actually is a generous value.

There are four hydroelectric plants in Cameroon. Nothing more. The installed capacity of those plants is not up to a 1000MWs.

The only new plant under construction is a thermal plant that will take the generating capacity in your country to about a 1000MW. And you do not know something that simply?

From independence till date, only 814 MW of power? And you are on nairaland talking nonsense everyday, as if its a paid job.
