Visa was approved today in Abuja in a unique way. Earlier I asked a question regarding my unique case and everyone on this forum seemed to avoided the question. I no shake at all. I just stuck with all that I have learnt by reading the various pages of this thread. Here goes my story at Abuja Embassy today. Vo: (After clicking and typing, typing and clicking, she looks up at me and says "Did you write any standardized tests?" Me: Sure while bringing it out and passing it to her to see. Vo: Why did you choose PV (Prairie View)? Me: First, It has a fast-track and well-structured curriculum which suits my career needs and aspirations and which will help me finish my programme in a shorter time to come back to my home country....... Vo: Interrupts me and says " Explain what you mean by well-structured curriculum which suits your career needs. Me: I am deficient in computer programming and the curriculum of this uni offers me alot of programming courses. I listed some for her Vo: okay, So how many Uni's did you apply to? Me: four unis and I listed them Vo:When did you apply to these unis Me: I went blank.....I couldn't remember the exact dates I applied. So I took permission from her and opened my folder and brought out my Ghantt chart that I used to organise my application process. When I tried to look up the exact date from the Ghantt chart, she asked me to pass the chart to her and I did. Vo: looks at it for a while, puts it asides types and clicks for a while and then ask why I have chose to do Computer Information Systems Me: Firstly, This course is like a three-edged sword comprising of Computer Science, Business, and management. This equips me with the necessary skills to establish myself as an Entrepreneur or as a top level manager that oversees the affairs of other ICT professionals. Secondly, Professionals that studied this programme are highly sort after in my home country ( Everything I dey tell am nah home-country, which shows her I really want to return to Nigeria) Vo: I can see you did a degree in the Uk, can I see your transcript Me: Sure, passes the transcript to her. While she was going over the grades, I told her that I should have been the best graduating student but for my M.Sc Project which has the lowest score and tells her that it was because of my deficiency in programming and that is why I really need to do this CIS course. Vo: She puts it aside and types and clicks, clicks and types and finally asks "Who are your sponsors?" Me: My mum because she was listed on my form i-20, then I also told her my Dad will be supporting. Vo: What do they do? Me: I explained to her Vo: Gives my back my form i-20 and encourages me not to arrive late for school resumption. Then she keeps my passport away and gives me a letter stating when to come back for my visa and where to pick it up. Me: Thank you very much while bouncing out I wasn't asked about work or bank statement and she didn't really emphasize the whole second masters issue. Thanks everyone. My advice is to read through the various pages of this thread and be prayerful. Also emphasizes your home country in some or most of your answers.

Sorbital:Actually going to apply for an emergency appointment. But need to know how to present my case to the VO 1st. |
Hi guys, good day to y 'all. I am about to go for studies in the US. Here are the highlights of my story: I returned from the UK on the 31st of January 2015 after completing my masters in Electronics and Communications Engineering. After consulting with my parents, I decided that It will be good to go for a second masters in computer information systems in the US, so I started preparing. However after following this thread for a while now l think I might have committed some blunders: 1) l selected 4 schools all located in Texas. 2) l already have a Masters from the Uk though In a different subject area from the one I am planning to do now 3) 1 haven't really settled down to work. Its been from one academic environment to another. 2000-2006 secondary school 2006-2011 Undergraduate UNN studied electronic engineering , 2012-2013 NYSC, 2013-2014 MSc Uk, 2015 till date: Been Involved in both a professional course on prince 2 foundation and Practitioner and preparing for this my US masters. The main reason for embarking on this US MSc being l want to have a broad base especially in ICT and Engineering. Don't want any form of employment drawback to my dream Career. please Guys advice me on this whole Issue. I will be booking an interview date after we have all brainstormed and trashed this my Issue. Expected to resume school as from 18th of August. Thanks In advance |
justwise: One of those two.I expect that there should be trust on this forum, maybe in time pass you have seen people that said things which are not true and I understand that but I am saying the whole truth. Okay then for peace to reign, let the boy start paying another money for reapplication. And I won't comment on this issue again. It is the boy's call. |
sashacoleman: please I have an urgent enquiry, I have all my documents including my academy transcripts, pls do I need my degree certificate for my visa application? My school only gave us success letter. Thank you for your quick response.I didn't have my degree cert, so I used my statement of result. The school sent me a pre-CAS to check whether everything was in order and I told them to put statement of result instead of degree cert. When they now sent the CAS, under the area of "EVIDENCE REQUIRED TO ASSESS ABILITY TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAMME OFFERED" they now put statement of result of bachelor degree from the university of Nigeria nsukka. That was what I now used to apply. In this your case you should tell them to put success letter since is what they looked at and offered you admission. So my friend it is all about communication with your school. They are there to support you anytime. |
justwise: I pretty much doubt that line of story. Are you doubting that I saw the boy at ABUJA or that the boy lied to me or that I am making this all up? Anyway No problem. I don't expect you to easy believe that but it is the truth. I saw this boy in ABUJA! |
humble_dove: Thanks for mentioning that information. I was the one ECO refused visa. I have been contemplating on the Administrative Review or Re-Application. But more than anything, I want the refusal cleared. Please, I have the forms already although not yet filled. No address was written on the refusal notice and I'm confused on where to address it to or which e-mail to send it too. Please, can you reply me with the address or e-mail the other fellow used?He said something about contacting a law firm that drafted a sort of letter for him and he used it for the administrative review.I wish I collected his number. But get the law firm letter ready first.while I make some inquires and get back to you |
Don Oms: Congrats about your visa. I have never heard that Admin Review thing taking a short time like that o. Did the guy apply via e-mail or by hand @ the Abuja office? Strange things happen though. And as for your flight, well, this is Nigeria.I saw him with my own eyes yesterday. The mistake I made was that I didn't get his number. But I remember he said something about contacting a law firm that drafted a sort of letter for him and he used it for the administrative review. |
Guys just picked-up my visa today! There are two things I want to tell you guys about. One is about the guy that was refused visa because the ECO concluded that his money was only available for 21days because he saw transactions from 31st July. I meet a guy today at the VAC who was refused visa because he didn't include a bank statement eventhough he did. The guy applied for an administrative review and he said today was tHe fifth day and guess what, he received his visa. I feel that if this boy got his visa after five days of administrative review, that other guy that was refused should apply immediately. Secondly I enter plane from ABUJA to owerri,na so inside d plane hot well-well o, na so they plane one begin tax, everybody come begin shout say we can't fly dis plane o, they com of-load us begin work d plane for over 30mins,finally they com transfer us to another plane. Nigeria sef! Wetin pain me be say the air-hostress they smile they tell us say the plane go cool for sky! Guys. See me see wahala! |

jubel: When and where dd u apply pls?I submitted on the 23rd of August and I saw this on the 5th of September and I submitted at ABUJA. |
Guys guess what!!! Just tracked my visa and saw "Processed passport is in Transit to the UK Visa Operation center". Will wait and go on Monday. I submitted on the 23rd of August and I saw this on the 5th of September and I submitted at ABUJA. |
Don Oms: That's perfect bro! Thanks Don. Am abit relaxed. I have actually followed this thread for sometime now. I submitted my application on the 23rd of this month. Am still awaiting their reply. |
Don Oms: Was the Opening Balance clearly quoted on it with the date as 25th July? And did it show anywhere on the statement that the print date (or Closing Balance) is the 22nd August? The closing balance and opening balance where written without the dates beside them. Though the opening balance is carrying the balance as at 25th July and somewhere at the upperleft column of the bank statement, the time range of 25th July to 22nd August is shown. Also the closing balance carrys the balance of 22nd August. |
Hi guys, just joined nairaland, I want to ask a question about this bank statement stuff.I printed my bank statement from 25th July-22 august but there is no transaction showing for 25th,but there is a transaction on 26th July. I hope the ECO will not think I printed the statement on 26th of July. Pls. Someone should clear me on this. |
