Many people did not register before because they are not interested in voting Buhari or Atiku. The youth have seen someone to vote for, now they want to register. INEC should open the online registration

The National Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress have called on the leadership of the party and the Progressive Governors Forum to narrow their search for the vice-presidential candidate to a northern Christian.

Their concerns stemmed from the raging controversy of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, which has seemingly heated the polity in the last few days.

Speaking at a programme to mark the June 12 Democracy Day, Convener of the APC National Stakeholders Forum, Aliyu Audu, disclosed that the need to reject the temptation of presenting another Muslim candidate as a running mate will ensure national inclusion and promote national unity.

He said, “Why we are conscious of the fact that religion should not be a determining factor in the our leadership selection proces. The peculiar circumstance the nation finds herself calls for reflection in the decisions we take, so long as they bother on our national lives.

“Today, the country is deeply divided within our fault lines of ethnicity and religion and we cannot afford to jettison this sensibility in critical decision making.

“This is why we think that the All Progressives Congress must be guided by the sense of these sensibilities in the selection of the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party.

Audu said that to do otherwise would be to further fuel what divides the masses and give room for mischief makers to take advantage of our differences.

According to him, Nigeria is in dire need of good governance, which can come from either a Muslim leader or a Christian leader.

He also noted that while some interests wanted the north to pick the ticket so as to put the contest between two northerners, others advocated for the All Progressives Congress to pick her flag bearer from the south in the spirit of nationalism, justice and fairness.

“But in the spirit of nationalism, justice and fairness which the northern governors demonstrated a few days ago, the leaders of the north on whose shoulder the emergence of the Vice Presidential candidate rests must also demonstrate this spirit by ensuring that the candidate comes from the Christian faith.

“The northern APC has in its fold capable individuals from the Christian faith with proven track record that can deliver just like anyone from the other faith.

“Their capability to deliver on the ideals of the party aside, they also have the capacity to win elections for the party. Suffice to add that no individual wins elections for any political party, it is the collective of all and we are sure the APC can achieve this,” he urged.

I leave in the North. Many of them are angry with Tinubu for having a wife who is a pastor and have christian children. Those thinking that Tinubu will win are those living in the southwest.

In Pakinshin, Plateau state, an APC House of Rep Member Organized a town-hall meeting to mark democracy yesterday. Could you believe that we were told not to go and many christians did not attend. The APC office there was vandalized and APC members are being seen as evil and slaves of those who want to kill them. The House of Rep member is really worried because of this. When the Muslim/muslim ticket is announced, it will affect all election in the middle belt. APC will make it easy for PDP to win all elections. The effect of this Muslim/muslim ticket will shock the party at the end.

With the body language of Buhari, he may not even go for any campaign for Tinubu.

Ekiti people are predominantly christians. This Muslim-Muslim ticket will affect all elections in Nigeria. Voting from now will tilt towards religious lines. I am supporting Obi, but I know that Atiku is the next president of Nigeria. You know why? Middle belt is on lockdown for PDP. This muslim-muslim ticket will affect all elections against APC in the middle belt.

But based on the realistic options that we now currently have, a liberal Muslim in Tinubu is the better deal for we Christians than another core Fulani Muslim in Atiku..

About 5 churches held a joint meeting today in Kano in the three christian dominated local governments - Rogo, Smaila and Doguwa. The meeting centred on how to ensure every christian will get PVC and vote in the next election. This is the first time the churches held a joint meeting. I am happy because it is bringing the church together.

I've said this before and I will say it again. APC bringing a Muslim-Muslim ticket will automatically boost their chances of winning next year elections. If you have any doubt about this, then you probably don't know the average Muslim mindset.

A Muslim will never, and I repeat never put anything in this world above his religion, no matter what or 'who'. If the APC decides to go for a tinubu/elrufai ticket for example, I promise you that every Muslim in Nigeria will vote for APC. Infact, they will even consider Atiku and kwankwaso as a fake Muslim.

I've seen that work in Kaduna in a situation where elrufai had zero chance of winning his re-election, but then he decided to play the religion card and all his haters including the workers he sacked, those he destroyed their homes still started supporting him back.

The best thing now is for the south to unite, else, we are doomed.

When 2023 is here we all know the north won’t vote with pvc but the pvc is only mandatory in the southern part of the country.

First you people need to fight electoral fraud first if not not matter how many people vote for their preferred candidate, apc and pdp will still rig their way to the top.

INEC have settled that in the new electoral act. No more incident form. Results to be transmitted directly from polling unit. That was what INEC used in Edo election and it works well.
