Dear Gurus in the House,
Resumption dates are fast approaching, but available appointment dates(even emergency appointment in Abuja) keep moving farther beyond. Blood pressures are dangerously rising over this matter.

Sherlock5577: Congrats aphyz2709!! You did well on the tests . The truth is that the best person to help you concerning schools of interest is you or someone who has a similar research interest with yours. I would advise you check online for schools with faculty with areas of research that pique your interest. Then contact these professors to know the possibility of being a funded research student of theirs. There are some posts on this topic which would guide you on how to contact them. Simply put, no long stories. Basically just include your profile and interest in a specific research areas of theirs in your mail. Also attach you CV and transcript. Also the email subject should read something like this "Spring 2019 Prospective International Graduate Student" Also make use of gradcafe to have an idea which of these schools are ambitious, moderate or safe based on your profile. Another factor that might influence your choice would be the nature of response you get from professors of interest. You might notice you choices would change as you get different responses from faculty members. You may not get much positive responses, but keep sending out emails. Keep your options wide.
I hope this helps!!! All the best!! Oh, these tips would certainly go a long way. Thank you Dr Holmes. . I'm so grateful. |

Good evening All. Just wanna remind the house that I'm still waiting for contributions as regards this post. God bless you. aphyz2709: Hello house. I've been silently following this thread from one-corner.
So I finally took the GRE yesterday and it was quite an experience. More like a party of unfriendly questions. The whole drama landed me on a humble V155 Q157.
Using the scoreselect feature, I sent the result to the following schools.
1. Montana state university, Bozeman 2. Tennessee Tech University 3. University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. 4. Cleveland State university, Ohio.
My undergraduate CGPAs are BEng 3.85/5.00 (Direct entry) Elect/Elect OND 3.51/4.00 Elect/Elect
Now I'm begging the house to please suggest necessary additions and subtractions to the list above, based on my profile, with view to secure funding (if I stand any chance) for MS in EE. I have my eyes on Spring 2019, but if it doesn't work out, fall 2019 is equally good enough. Also, I've got 3 years of experience in Aircraft electrical and avionics systems maintenance.
Over to you, my ogas.... God bless you. |

Josonas: Hello everyone,i have been following this thread for months,i have come to realize that before one can register for any of the exam, one needs an international passport.I will like to get it before preparing for the exam.Pls i need a guide from those who have done it & the price range. Thanks The official price is 15k per 32-page passport and 20k per 64-page passport. You can check immigration website for necessary guides regarding payment details and registration. The touted idea is that you can do it yourself, but trust me, you don’t wanna go that way. If you stay in any of the major cities (Lagos, Abuja etc), it might take you a few days to some weeks to get the passport after registration, depending on who you know at the office. You may not like the "Man-know-man" idea, but that's the reality on ground. Knowing that Lagos offices (Ikoyi and Festac) would most likely waste my time since I didn't have any link, I traveled to Ilorin to get mine(32 pages) the same day I registered for 28k. Of course, it involved a fair element of connection. Mind you, some people pay more, while other pay a little less. It all depends on how fast you want it done. Good luck, Bros. |

Greetings Gurus.
I intend to start MSc ECE in Spring semester, 2019. My undergraduate profile is as follows: OND: 3.51/4.00 BEng: 3.85/5.00 (Direct entry) Course: Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Although I'm studying for my GRE and TOEFL, I'm wondering if I should evaluate my transcripts with WES to boost my CGPA and perhaps my chances of securing a tuition waiver.
Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks. |

Libber: Visa Approved on Thursday
Thanks to sirRiddy, Ponpon, Chidindo, Ojah, Walspring and a lot of people I don't know their moniker.Nairaland has really help my life, CGPA (3.22/5), (WES 3.02/4), GRE below 300 ( very embarrassing, but my job didn't allow me read)
TOEFL - 84 ( didn't use it)
Masters in Mathematics- Schools applied to Etsu- Admitted (Got 50% scholarship, the dept cord said I should rewrite for an assistantship)
Tennessee tech uni- Admitted ( TA is filled, but got a mail to notify me of an RA in July)
Mtsu- Rejected Uni of Idaho- Rejected Georgia southern uni- Accepted with GTA, full tuition waiver and stipend
Youngstown state uni- Accepted but because of cgpa, they said I need to fund myself for the fall, then a GA in spring if I perform well in fall
Eastern Kentucky uni- Based on my rappor with the dept cord she is always mailing me to apply that she will offer me GA, but I didn't complete the application.
Advice Don't feel discourage because you don't have a ground breaking profile, this year I saw people with a 2.2 below 3.0 with a GRE below 310 getting full funding , a cgpa of 2.58 got full funding, mail profs, do ur research well, the sky will always be our starting point.
Thank you Nairaland Congratulations @Libber. Your story is quite inspiring and the advice couldn't have been better stated. This would surely go a long way to encourage people. Once again, congratulations. |

Issues like "who will be my dubbing partner in Zaria?" should have been openly addressed by now. I just hope you guys are fine sha. Have a good day, Rotorheads. Cheers. |

KIDorazulume: Ok I will wait for Aphyz to shed more light then I'd probably go ahead to talk about my understanding of it.
As for that covalent bond, omo mehn, ur head is there oo. I remember seeing ladies at Sheraton.
make we dey look sha @Kidora You're right. @Olayemite was talking about type rating. According to Collins, your Zaria training is designed to get you a license without a type rating. In plain terms, you're licensed to work on aircrafts generally but without any specific brand of specialty. It is after successful completion of the Zaria programme that you'll be sent on what he called "manufacturer's training", which as you must have figured by now, is done outside naija. And as for the bond, you guys should keep dreaming. |

Waiting anxiously to hear from B.A.T.S Anyone with the knowledge of how much Bristow will be paying cadet engineers upon successful completion of training and licensing? Aphyz, KIDorazulume thanks for keeping this thread lively, more power to your elbow Guy...... I wish I knew what they plan to pay o. And the funny thing is nobody I've met seems to know for sure.
