If the voting system required 100 percent consensus, which all the member states agreed upon, then that is their ideal democracy. The EC system is a mockery of the electoral system in America. That means, if those companies actually becomes insolvent and forced to close down operations, a whopping 940,000 people would become jobless and thrown into the labour market. The situation can even get worst considering that the reports says 30% of those companies are in the building and construction sector, which employs more people than most other sectors.
