But lack of an economic blueprint for Nigeria Pre dates the existence of PDP and APC. This is not time for blame shifting. As individuals and collectives we must address the problems that plague us as a people. For instance, what do you do as an individual? What do you contribute to the Nigeria economy. This is a question we all must ask ourselves......

What is brain drain? There are arguments that the Europeans need to compensate the blacks for the slave years. The school of thought that conceived the idea may have raised a valid argument considering the grievous and abominable treatment melted on the black man. Many years after the abolishment of the slave trade, the average black man considers the land of the white man paradise. Could this be an instinctive right, a form of compensation for the slave years?

The other day I was in a bus, a young lady within the ages of 22 – 25 years unconsciously muttered, “I must go to America in Jesus Name”. I was startled, I brought her back to consciousness by asking, “What is it about America”, she looked at me and smiled. She repeated the statement, “I must travel to America, Gods Country!” She further narrated her ordeal at the US embassy, how her Visa application was turned down. Every second, you’d find a young African boy/girl saying a similar prayer. So much so that obtaining an America/UK Visa is a recurring Testimony in our churches.

Considering the sufferings and roles played by the blacks during the civilization years and industrial revolution of the slave masters you’d expect the descendants of the slaves “Black Europeans” scattered around the world to evolve into a core of change drivers who will erase the pains of the slave years and lead Africa to become giant among the other Continents.

The reality is far from this, we continue to dwell on brain drain, I do not see the brain drain proposition as valid, what I see is No brains. The intellectual giant of Africa descents who are lost and “buried” in foreign lands must form an alliance to heal their roots. They must form a coalition aimed at propelling Africa to greatness. Until this is done, the cry about brain drain will only remain a justification for their No brain.

Nigeria’s over reliance on crude oil is the root cause of her present economic situation. Every Nigerian adult identify over reliance on crude has the root of Nigerians economy woes. Who is to blame for this – Successive leaders? Fmr Presidents – Jonathan, Obasanjo, Okonjo Iweala, Muritala Mohammed, all of them put together?

Are you better wired than the individuals listed above? The consistent dependence on oil by successive Nigerian government reveals that we need a mental change as a people.

I sometime wonder the cause of our mental laziness as a nation, it is definitely not from religion, as much as I know, no religion supports and encourages laziness. The Scriptures recorded that Joseph the father of Jesus was a Carpenter, he turned wood into valuable products; chairs, tables, sofas, beds, stools etc With so many adherent of the Christian and Islamic faith in Nigeria…. At no time had we had an atheist President since independence, where did we get it all wrong?

The creation account tells us how God formed the universe with the words of mouth, out of nothing. In our case He buried Gold, Lead, Tin, Columbite, Barite, Crude Oil, Iron Ore, Coal etc underneath our soil. He ensured we did not need to think about creating wonders out of nothing, given the many natural resources he blessed us with. The best we have done so far is to over rely on Crude oil.

56 years after Independence, what I see is a nation walking in the opposite direction of her promise land. It took the Israelites forty years to arrive the promise land, how long will it take Nigeria? When shall we break off from the self-slavery we have entrapped ourselves through greed, ethnicity, religious intolerance?

The best years of Nigeria is ahead, it lies in the hands of the generation that would realize what it means to “cultivate”, “till” the land, grow crops and make grains from them. A generation whose Civil service know their primary duty is not just to collect salaries but contribute meaningfully to the prosperity of the Nation. A generation that seeks no superiority in race, gender, and religion but promotes the beauty in our diversity, uphold dignity of labor and human life, pursues Justice and Fairness.

Before you complain about the deplorable state of Nigeria, think about how some of your little acts, actions and inaction have led us to our present situation. We can undo our past mistakes, we can begin a new walk in the right direction to the land of our dreams.

May the labour, sacrifices of our heroes past not be in vain. Amen

The date for the 2016 National Convention is no longer news (Friday, February 19 – Saturday, February 20, 2016), the event is to be held within the school premises – Federal Government College Ugwolawo, Kogi State.

The Agenda for the event has been set as follows:

1. 19th February, 2016 – Ebo Night/Dinner Party @ Wisdom Home Hotel, Anyigba – Kogi State. Time – 6.30p.m.
2. 20th February, 2016 – Arrival at Ugwolawo from Anyigba at 8.00 a.m.
3. Breakfast in the College Dining Hall at 8.30 a.m.
4. Registration at the College Assembly Ground at 9.45 a.m.
5. Constitution Review by the Congress at 10.a.m.
6. Dissolution of the current Exco.
7. Elections.
8. Launch/Departure.

What you are unaware of is the fun associated with the trip, I’ll speak for the Lagos Contingent (We No dey carry last!). An air conditioned 30 seater bus has been arranged for the trip. Snr Ebie Leonard will be traveling in the bus, what that means… there will not be a dull moment and a lot of gist on interesting past time – unlimited school life gists.

Gbemi, able President of Lagos Chapter will be in the bus, do not be surprised if fried Chicken or turkey is served intermittently during the trip. To add to the fun is the immediate Past President of Lagos Chapter, Mr. Uchenna Nnoli, no limits to the humor the road trip holds, with Mr. Uche be sure of sound intellectual discuss laced with spontaneous and rib cracking humor.

Chinenye Monube is planning to make the trip as well, if you do not know her, she is the Welfare Officer of the Lagos Chapter. She is lively, quite adventurous and a 1st class baker. There are indications that she will be serving her Chin Chin during the trip, this means you may have a hard time choosing between Gbemi’s Chicken and ChiChis delicious Chin Chin… You can settle for both!

There are indications that Mr. Emenike Kelechi will be on board, if that is confirmed, the Chicken and Chin Chin will be accompanied with the finest wines.

Emmanuel and Blessing Ocheja have confirmed their attendance; with Emma and his Crew, there can be no dull moments, the latest dancing steps in Naija will definitely be showcased at the National Convention Ebo party.

I will leave the other thrills to be unveiled during the Trip.

Dear Alumni, All is set for the National Convention, what is left is for you to confirm your attendance. All Lagos Chapter members are expected to donate a sum of 5,000 Naira to cover their transport fare (To and Fro). Individuals are to make arrangement for their accommodation.

Note that those who cannot afford the 5,000 Naira Fare but willing to attend the Convention are welcomed, such individuals should indicate interest by responding to this mail. If you have the means but your schedule will not permit you to attend the convention, consider donating for those who cannot afford the fare.

A nation where electricity is stable, government policies promote entrepreneurship and attract investments.

Me: Good to hear that. This time last year, you were fasting and praying to get a job. Many unemployed people will be happy to be in your present position. Rather than complain about your job, find a way to make achieving your tasks easy. Your prayer for a job has been answered with WORK!

The Group Managing Director of my company is fond of saying that, the answer to the prayer for increase come in the form of work and challenges. Overcoming challenges and getting tasks (Work) done attracts promotion and growth.

4. If you see a mum struggling with kids and her arms are full, offer to help.
