Politics › Nigeria Moves To Establish National Guard by Apus(op): 11:09pm On Aug 18, 2017 |
The Federal Government is considering the establishment of a National Guard to address emerging security threats and emergencies in the country.
The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja when the Adjutant General of the California National Guard, U.S, paid him a courtesy visit. The minister however stressed that a lot of consultations would be done before any decision is taken in that regard.
He recalled that several years ago, the government had planned the establishment of a National Guard, but the idea did not come to fruition due to a number of challenges.
Mr. Dambazau explained that the National Guard would help to fill the gap between the operations of the Military and the Nigerian Police in tackling security challenges and emergencies. He said the military was becoming increasingly involved in dealing with some security threats in the country which is outside their constitutional mandate while the police might be overstretched in dealing with such issues.
He said Nigeria would continue to collaborate with the international community, including sharing experiences with the U.S Army in the training of Nigeria’s security personnel.
He said the visit of U.S military officials would help strengthen the cordial relationship between both countries, especially as regards security.
Earlier, the adjutant general, David Baldwin, a Maj.-Gen., said he and his team were in Nigeria to foster partnership between both countries.
He said that California as one of the biggest states in the U.S had its own National Guard like other states which is responsible security and emergencies.
He said the California National Guard will be involved in the training of Nigeria’s security agencies under the Ministry of Interior such as the Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, NSCDC and Prisons to deal with security challenges/emergencies.
Mr. Baldwin said the training was designed for two to three years to equip the security personnel with modern trend in security and emergency operations.
On the establishment of a National Guard in Nigeria, he said that it was up to the Nigerian government to decide the modalities for the establishment of any security outfit.
He however said the National Guard is a very strategic and cost effective outfit that has helped the U.S in tackling security challenges and emergencies such as flood, fire and other natural disasters.

coveredchic: No, I absolutely don't agree with you. With increasing age and maturity, you tend to be better able to handle some introvert traits like shyness around people. When I was younger, my shyness was crippling, but with age and of course working on myself, i can address anybody or group of persons now. Take this from someone who is over 90% introverted. Cool! Cool! Do you know how I got over my shyness? I simply pretend not to be shy. I put on a performance around people I don't know. I pretend to have a conversation with them, I pretend to care. And that's how I got over my shyness, I forced myself to perform as an outgoing, sociable person to make everyone including myself happy. Performance takes the “edge” out of being social. A performance isn't “you”, it's an act. You simply act like you aren't shy. If you act enough, it becomes real, second nature. The things we think and do always end up becoming true. I performed enough as an outgoing person that now no one believes I am shy. My performance became true. I faked it 'til I made it....But what happens during my alone time ....I'm totally drained simply because unlike an extrovert i'm not energized by people. Quiet sometimes is refreshing. Bein Shy is one thing, but wrapped up in your own little world is another... |

gidjah: nope, I didn't make it sound that way , save you have troubles with comprehension. I am an introvert my self, but the more one grows, the better such a one gets over some character traits of an introvert.if the way you display your temperament while you were 18 years old is the same way your introverted ways still shows when you are 25, then it means you didnt grow, you are also socially deficient! so it also means your matter is quite complex and requires a cane too. so check your self, your age if you haven't grown out of some introverted nature lately, then you really should go get checked up . I Have grown out of some intorveted attitudes lately and that has helped strengthened few people around me,I noticed people need to be happy been around me and not sad because I tend to wanna be snobbish, but I also have drawn out sometimes for myself when I need to withdraw and get back my strength, how does that go with touch sir? ur matter tire me... u even had to write a long comprehension. I still insist u lack understanding of what introversion is And can never grow out of it. It's either u weren't introverted in the first place, or have learned to "act" more extroverted when the situation demands it |

Giel: @gidjah I don't understand how an introvert tells another introvert to get over his introverted nature
or did I miss the point? pls don't make me laff... he made it sound like its some kind of disease ... where my cane dey sef. |

brosiye99: @apus: no need for the hardcopy. Just forward to that email and include your ID number and name in the email subject. also for all the scanned copies, use your ID number when naming them. There are some former nitel staff that are computer/ IT experts working since yesterday to collate this information and format it into the format that PTAD wants. @sonya4all: As for deceased staff, I just found out that if they were pensionable at point of death, the next of kins will be paid. e.g. if the deceased staff exited in 2006 after at least 10years in service and died in 2015, the next of kins are entitled to arrears from 2012 to 2015 only and won't be included in the monthly pension. under defined benefits scheme, your pension stops immediately on death. however, that will be when arrears are being paid not for the current monthly pension which is hoped to be started after the upcoming verification. God bless sir! |

brosiye99: Hello people. I got one news I have to share urgently. On Thursday/friday, PTAD nearly removed Nitel from the soon to be advertised verification of parastatals. Ptad said Nitel pensioners database is not in the format they require hence nearly stopped Nitel from being added. The Nitel reps had to plead before they were given a last chance. The following are needed. scanned copies of the following into jpg files: Letter of first appointment Letters of promotion Payslip of last salary Letter of retirement/disengagement Passport photograph
This is to be received by 11th july 2017. spread this message around please. Once the message is received in this email, the nitel reps in abuja have people working on them to be in the format that ptad wants. There is still a lot to be done. Keep this issue in serious prayers because ptad nearly dismissed nitel from the next verification on the excuse that they are not ready. Meanwhile, ptad complained that out of all parastatals, it is only nitel giving them problems e.g. the oluti group and co as well as having records that are not correct e.g. details of people not pensionable as at 2006 disengagement are being found. They insisted that those who are not entitled to pension will not get. e.g those that spent less than 10 years in service under the old defined benefits scheme. Send this message around to all nitel retirees. Cheers. @eniwaye; pls endeavour to do same and inform that your person to scan and send all those documents, hope her husband spent up to 10 years in service before his death. at the right time, she can come with all those documents of her late husband when verification starts.
Send all of these to this email: nitelpensioners2017@gmail.com God work u doing sir, God bless You. Pls I heard hard copies of the afore listed documents will also be collected @Oshodi on Monday. Can u pls confirm this?? |

Politics › Ourmumudondo, New Social Movement Surfaces. by Apus(op): 10:50pm On May 21, 2017 |
saharareporters.com/2017/05/21/ourmumudondo-movement-calls-one-week-online-rally This is to inform All Angry, Vexed, and Frustrated Nigerians that on Monday, 22 May 2017, the OurMumuDonDo movement will commence a one-week online rally for all Nigerians to vent their frustrations about the current preposterous state of things in the country. The battle against criminally-minded politicians with audacious capacity for impunity and insatiable appetency for looting and impoverishing the nation has just begun. This battle is a battle between good and evil; a battle between the oppressors and the oppressed; a battle between the forgotten men and women in the slums who cannot afford one meal per day and the voraciously greedy looters we call leaders in positions of power; it is a battle between the struggling shoemakers on the streets and the seemingly untouchable politicians in Agbada riding ostentatiously in their criminally acquired fleet of exotic cars. The OurMumuDonDo campaign is a campaign to declare open the war between nationalism and criminality. For too long, the masses have been promised good governance but failures and an unimaginable surge in the number of political criminals have been the only result. For decades, the youths have been appellatively called Future Leaders but the real leaders we have had are the incompetently recycled elements flagrantly running a gerontocratic government. Don't be under any form of illusion, there is no "we" in Nigeria... There is only "us" and "them". The only system in existence in Nigeria is the system that glorifies the criminal haves and demonizes the suffering have-nots. Savages with capacity for incredible savagery have rendered the common man helpless, hopeless, and abjectly impoverished. They have turned our collective national wealth to a national cake for the oppressive minority. However, we have decided to stand against the oppressive rule of our grandfathers and old men in power. We, the suffering and disenchanted peoples of Nigeria, must catalyze the end of the prolonged era of gerontocracy with audacious looting and criminality. We must catalyze the end of the prolonged era of propaganda with no positive result in governance and the life of the common man. We must collectively and defiantly say that enough is enough! Enough of the failed promises and oppressive rule. Enough of seeing the same faces with no changes. Enough of glorifying criminality and demonizing nationalism. The time to fight for the survival of the suffering man and woman in Nigeria has arrived. There shall be no going back because every suffering Nigerian must speak up this time. Starting from Monday, all genuinely concerned Nigerians must dedicate their hearts to wherever their strength lies. Whether it is Facebook or Twitter, Instagram or Whatsapp, Snapchat or Telegram, the only conversation we want you to be part of is the #OurMumuDonDo conversation. We want you to own the conversation and talk about the abysmal state of things in the country and where it pinches you the most. Together, let us stand and demand good governance. This is not the time to propagate the political sentiments, religious sentiments and ethnic sentiments created by our common enemy. We will fight because we must. We will win because failure isn't an option. We will not be discouraged because we believe an injury to one is an injury to all. Our goal is a country where genuine leaders occupy positions of power. We shall no longer endure the era of scammers and riff-raffs. This is the time to come together and make Nigeria a better place for ourselves, our children, and the generations yet unborn.
