Are u a free or gold member?
As a free member,GAF takes 10 percent of whatever u earn per job while as a gold member, they dont.
As a free member,u are limited to just 15 bids per month while as a gold member,u have unlimited no of bids.
Most project/job owners prefer gold members.
If and once u get your first project try and become a gold member, its costs less than 10 dols.
@ifyalways, am highly interested in this freelancing stuff because I need the income to augment my salary. However, I am a novice in this Getafreelancer.com. I have joinded as a free member. Kindly throw light on the following : 1. How do I bid for jobs 2. How do I know if my bid has been accepted 3. How do I send the finished jobs across 4. Lastly, considering the fact that there is no Paypal in Nigeria, how will they pay someone based in Naija for jobs done?

Thanks in anticipation of your response.
Politics / Re: Bayo Ohu, The Guardian's Reporter, Murdered by aquita(m): 4:36pm On Sep 21, 2009
T@meD0:

It's interesting how the story was covered by vanguard though.

Now, having said that, who in the world came up with such a stupid law and how in the world did that law pass?

If they're concerned about armed robbers getting medical attention, why not allow the docs and nurses do their jobs (saving lives) first and then worry about any documentation later on!

This is clearly an assassination and not a robbery; he was obviously on to something big.  Hence, he had to be silenced.

May his soul rest in peace.  By the way, what the hell is with this figure-head of a president anyway?  If he's not abroad (at the expense of the taxpayers of course) receiving medical treatment, he's visiting Saudi Arabia for unknown reasons.  But I digress. . .

I tire for naija o!

T@meDO, make we no tire for naija. This country is not beyond redemption. Having said that , I strongly believe that the law on the treatment of patients with gunshots wounds should be annuled or modified. Assuming the first hospital treated the late journalist, he might be alive today. Anyway, this case is an acid test for the new IG of police. May God grant Bayo Ohu eternal rest and also grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Make una leave Dora alone; she is still a woman of integrity considering the fact that integrity is in short supply in this country.

Dear Nairalanders, I have a similar problem. The issue is that I always have sores in my mouth from time to time. The sores normally heal on its own only to resurface after a few weeks. Please advise on the cause and remedy. Thank you.
Investment / Re: Oceanic Shareholders Sue CBN, Ibru by aquita(m): 12:49pm On Sep 05, 2009
who needs more protection? Oceanic bank Shareholders or the depositors?

I think the CBN is trying to ensure that depositors don`t lose their funds as a result of banks` collapse.

CBN`s action is justified.

Make shareholders go siddon.

Mad_Max:

So if a powerful conglomerate with a huge presence insults Nigerians, because our leaders are irresponsible and scammers send out feelers via the net, we should take it as our due and not complain? Do you have any idea how incredibly insulting that advert is? Can you find any kind of precedent for it anywhere? They dare because they know Nigeria is now the world's target board for ridicule. There are a hundred and fifty million Nigerians. How many of them are scammers? Fifty per cent? Twenty? Ten percent? And yet, everyone, from the struggling immigrant to old folks in the village, are lumped together and tarred with the same brush. It is not that Nigeria has worse cybercrime than other countries; you'd be amazed at what Asia and the United States pull off. It's that Nigeria is good fodder for dislike, and internatinal media has focused on and fanned this dislike for ages. Nobody wants to hear about a Malaysian scammer who stripped someone of millions, or a hacker who stole thousands of dollars via identity theft. But if it's a Nigerian, it's immediate front news. They love to hate us.

It's an insult to honest hardworking Nigerians, who are the majority by far, to imply 'we' brought the ad upon ourselves in any way, that is 'our' fault and we should swallow it like bitter medicine. If the Nigerian Govt has an iota of shame they would immediately demand an apology from SONY and insist that the ad be removed. The SA movie District 9 was insulting to Nigerians as well. An avalanche of humiliation seems to be coming and we do NOT deserve it. These things make life difficult for Nigerians who have to truck with other nationals. Corruption in govt is one thing. Insulting a country blatantly in the eyes of the world is another and its govt being corrupt is a silly rationalization. Every country has problems. Yes, we have a problem with scammers,.and lazy youths who who want it all without working for it. But these emails are silly. The only way you can taken in by them is if you want to be taken in. Europeans and Asians are far more more sophisticated frauds. They should stop humiliating us because of the actions of a few.
@Mad_Max, you have spoken well. Need I say more?

Career / Re: Salary - How Much Is Enough To Sustain An Average Nigerian by aquita(m): 12:16pm On Aug 25, 2009
I don`t think there is any specific amount that will be enough to sustain an average Nigerian. The amount that can sustain a person depends on the following factors :

1. Cost of living in the locality the person is based in (for instance, accomodation is cheaper in Ibadan than Abuja)

2. His personal taste

3. The number of dependants he has

4. The kind of habits he has (like smoking, drinking, gambling etc)

5. How thrifty the person is i.e someone that can really economise

However, if I must name a figure, N50,000 monthly should be okay for someone without dependants.

Hello Nairalanders, the country has a lot of political problems (e.g electoral malpractices), economic problems (e.g crisis in banking sector), social problems (kidnapping here and there), ASUU is on strike etc. The question is : If you were the President (Yar`adua), how would you tackles these issues?

For once, let us contribute our widow`s mite to governance.

Politics / Re: 3 Of The 5 Bank Chiefs Arrested by aquita(m): 10:02am On Aug 19, 2009
None of the sacked bank M.Ds has been convicted of any crime; they were only invited for questioning. If any of them is tried and proven guilty, he or she should be jailed. we need to avoid a situation whereby banks will collpase and workers will lose their jobs, depositors will lose their money and shareholders will lose their investments.

@ hollandis, are you related to Cecilia Ibru in any way?
