' I belong to everybody, and I belong to Nobody'. - Pres. M. Buhari of Nigeria, May 29th. ,2015. Dear Nairalanders, though the above qoute generated ambivalent controversies. Some commentators opined that it was lifted from somewhere. Others commended the philosophy behind this famous quote. Be that as it may, a fundamental question still remains; has the aforemrntioned propagator of this philosophical wordings realised this in his scheme of governance after almost 3 years in power? What is the impact of the above qoute vis-à-vis the unfolding developments in Nigeria today. Has the predident really proved that he has been guided by this principle? I need your candid and objective assessments as we advanced toward 2019 general elections. A friend of mine wants to write a book relating to this. Your opinions matter. Thanks. |
If you are angry with Catholics celebrating Lent, stop celebrating the likes of Easter, Christmas, Valentine even Sunday likewise; they all have root to 'pagan'celebrations ;as some 'I- too-know christains' have just alleged here about Ash Wednesday. For those quoting Bible for the Catholics, one thing that can not be taken away from them is that their belief is hinged on three items: the Sacred Traditions, the Sacred Scriptures & the Sacred Magisterium. And this is where the Catholic Church is highly minscontrued. What ever the Catholic Church teaches and practices are always predicated on these three main items. No matter the angle you are coming from, Religion is highly technical and profound because of its spiritual undertone. Instead of wasting your time criticising the Catholics for their Lenten rituals, I pray you channel such energy on those who are yet to profess Christ as their Lord and Saviour. At least, inspite of their numerous acts of 'Paganism', Catholic Church profess Christ as the Saviour of Mankind. My Pentecostal Brothers, Channel your energy on the world of Heathens. I strongly believe that this thread was formed for reflection and not for Biblical argument. I wish all successful a Lenten Season. |
For devout Catholics in this thread, make sure you are not disturbed by some elements her claiming to know Christianity more than you. I wish all successful Lenten season! |
Do Igbo names has male and female? (especially the ones that has divine and event atrributes).l believe Igbos allocate names to gender based on general stereotypes and sounds of a particular name. For instance; Ifeanyichukwu are commonly stereotyped for men, may be because of the sound that relates 'heaviness'. Ugochukwu because of its relation to 'Eagle' (by connotation 'Pride'). Ukamaka, NWAMAKA etc commonly attributed to Females because they have semblance with 'Beauty'. Some names like 'Onyinyechukwu' (onyinye)-God's gift , Chidimma-(Chidi)- God is good etc have raised a major concern whether they should be classified as Neuter or gender based name. Igbo linguistic scholars should save that scenario where a grown up male will be made jest of like ; 'guy! why are you bearing Onyinye, don't you know it is a typical Female name?' |
Micha -El (Hebrew)- who is like God? Onye-dika- Chi(Igbo)- who is like God? Michael=Onyedikachi(onyedikachukwu Rapha-El (Hebrew)- God heals or God of healing. Chi-na-gwo(Igbo)- God heals Jude- Judas- Judah (Hebrew)-praise God To-Chukwu- Tobe-Chukwu(Igbo) - Praise God |
AKWAUGO literally meaning 'the egg of an Eagle'. i.e a precious son or daughter |

Land matters and real estate issues in nairaland does not get palatable followership and response. Bitter truth. |
This feat has been achieved by former gov. of Enugu state far back in the US.(for those bragging being most sophiscated tribe in Nigeria.) |
Frustrations roaming around the nooks and cranny..... |
A lot of controversies are currently connected with Trump's 'shit- hole'. Coming back home; let's tell ourselves the truth. Are we really not what we are tagged? Let take cognisance of Innocent souls strangled almost daily and other various forms of injustices rife with virtually all the facets of our social lives? Is Nigeria not truly a shit- hole? I don't think we are not far from this compliment.Mr. foreign minister, citizens are suffering, summoning US Envoy will never change any fact. ..., I expect patriots to start their attack. |
I believe next time they will consult betNaija. Do you think they will own up to your observation? |
kikio1992:Guy, sorry |
Nigeria has reached to a stage that we can even ask God for exchange with any foreign president to the one we have now. Please God, we can even manage OGA Trump or Zuma and their controversies.... Killings, propaganda, blame games etc are what cover our national dailies every morning. If we can't produce leaders or political parties that can change things for good, God make it possible to exchange one foreign stuff. God, Nigeria thought that her problems would be solved by removing 16 year old PDP, but .......well? God, your Prophets are too many this country even more than the time of your Biblical Isrealites.which of them are we going listen to this time around.they are too many with varieties of ' your' prophesies. God as things are right now , we manage Oga mugabe.Even Mugabe cannot sit supine and citizens will be massacred by a particular group whom the god of terrorism found unworthy to be classified as TERRORISTS. Sometimes, even the controversial leaders are the ones taking proactive steps to protect citizens from impending onslaughts. God, it beats my imagination that Prof. Sagay recently used the 'controversial' Gov. Fayose as an example of proactive leader in his 'sermon' to Benue's state governor while admonishing him to try self defence tactics.Today Ekiti is peaceful and insulated from these killer ' first-class citizens'( whose sibblings are the same officials managing virtually all the Security apparatus of the country) just because of a singular law signed and implemented proactively on time. God only the citizens that will cruise the streets of Taraba, Benue, southern Kaduna ,Numan etc. and count miscellany of dead bodies, will understand the motive behind this 'weird' prayer. Amidst killings, one would have expected government of the day two be focused on how to change things for good, but what one will see on the media is census and justification of how many people killed during the time of last administration. Whoa! another blame game there. Is it this very Nigeria that we will bequeath to our unborn generations? Killings,Killings ...Bloods Bloods flowing every where like a river. God ! As we dey now now we can manage Baba Trump over this one your 'prophesy' produced in 2015. Amen. I hand down my prayer book...I hope sleep will eventually come. |
Alariwo2:OK. Continue to wait for when.... Is like you are the real bigot. |
Alariwo2:At least, you have started to accept fact. Come to think of it. Tell me where Yorubas are giving free land to Igbos so that I will collect my share. Please, take the advice given to you by others. You need to travel round the Country with a view to healing yourself from inherent hatred and stereotype. For your info, Igbo and Yoruba ethnic groups are at this moment having a crucial summit in Enugu. |
Alariwo2:Please, keep sentiments and thoroughly peruse through my write up. Is like you didn't understand it. The owners (Yorubas and northerners) couldn't withstand the millions Igbo traders priced their inherited properties. |
Alariwo2:Am also waiting for you to counter my responses. You are only interested in those that lampoon you.I thought you needed objective informaton. Don't play the bigot you that are accusing others of. I have verifiable facts to back up my points, some which I have stated already. |
For empahasis, in famous places like Bida road, Ilorin street, Haruna street, Kano street, Skoto road, basden street, lafiaji, Iheijirika street(where the oba Yoruba community of Onitsha is residing today) Fegge Layout, Bridgehead layout etc all in Onitsha; 90 percent of the businesses and properties where hitherto owned by the forebears of Northerners and south westners but inability of descendants to persevere and compete with fierce Igbo traders and perhaps, millions of Naira priced for the said properties in the recent years, enabled maximum reselling. Can one call this intolerance? |
4) Igbos have comparative predominant population bloc in many states: because of the above fact, their chances of getting political appointments and elective posts will be high in relation to other non indigenes co-residing with them in many states. Technically, their bloc votes can make a lot of impact in some states of the federation. In a similar factor, most objective administrators see them of enterprising and agents of developments both in rural and urban areas, hence the need to bring them nearer to government house for strategic and higher assignments. An investigation, will show you that the states that they are less are are among the poorest states( especially in bubbling business activities and internally generated revenues) in Nigeria. Eg. Zamfara and kebbi. In other words, if a particular ethnic group have the same population bloc and properties in the South East, they will equally have the same chances and impact. |
Objective and verifiable response: 1) stereotyped fear and difficulties in competing with Igbo race in commerce by other ethnic groups: Yorubas are in the East doing their businesses but their major challenge is stiff competition from the Igbo hosts.for instance, If Igbos 99 percent dominate major markets like Alaba and Dei-dei international markets outside their abode, is in it their land that you will dominate them? So other ethnic groups are residing in the East but comparatively low because of the above reasons which they see as intolerance. They are many northern beggars blocking church and market gates in the East for alms almost daily, if Igbos are not tolerant they couldn't have accommodated them. 2) Comparative Low Land Mass: this is another major factor that looks as if Igbos are not accommodating. This factor make land ownership in the region stiffer even among the indigenes. But interestingly today, because of rising government and organised private sector in estate development, many non indigenes are having access to property which most of them will at the end of the day rent out to indigenes. Eg. A famous plaza along Awka road, Onitsha was seized and forfeited to federal Govt. The said building was later auctioned to a Yorubaman around 2006. The said buyer instead rented it to willing Igbo traders instead of his kinsmen who are not forthcoming with enough cash. 3) protracted and programmed neglect of siting sensitive federal presence within the region: this singular factor renderd the region as a mere commercial region, hence making it lest attractive for other ethnic groups who are not petty traders to reside. Other reasons uploading,....... |
For emphasis, this woman called Laurretta Is not an Igbo woman. I have raised a topic in this respect before. Our women don't talk like this. Forget about her name. |

Despite the ambivalence and controversies that are still greeting Padre Mbaka's 'revelation' about the DANKWANBOIC PRESIDENCY stuff, the truth remains that a trend has suddenly overtaken the political penumbra of the Nation like a storm. Recall that the two most visible political parties in the country had zoned the 2019 presidential slot to the North; hence, underscoring the compatibility of possible permutations and ambitions advancing ahead. From indications, series of unfolding Searchlights are at the moment, beamed on Gombe state; the jewel in the savannah. There is no gainsaying the fact, that at present, many columnists and political analysts are ruffling a few feathers with their piece and opinions, new political endorsements and counter-endorsements are blowing in the wind almost daily as result of the said ' revelation'. Perhaps, going by many independent analysts and roadside utterances, the very need to enthrone a new government with a view to salvaging Nigeria's economy; which is presumed not performing well under this present administration and specifically, the rampaging Fulani herdsmen which needed to be checkmated urgently across the various states of the nation; which the aforementioned administration presumably is treating with levity, have not only become the major highlights but served as catalysts circumventing the DANKWANBOIC PRESIDENCY STUFF. The Talban Gombe; Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, a trained chartered accountant and economist courtesy of Ahmedu Bello University, University of Lagos and Igbinedion University respectively, has been the governor of Northeastern state of Gombe since 29th May, 2011. Despite a modicum of criticisms from indigenes of the state especially from the camp of his erstwhile godfather and former governor, senator Danjuma Goje, the Talban Gombe has suddenly become the talk of the town. Apart from avalanche of awards for good performance, by July 2017, he had gotten series of endorsements by various groups including the Gombe Peoples Congress who adjudged him as the best governor from the North for completing over 3000 km asphalted roads across the state. His good performances at the state level notwithstanding, the big question remains; will the trending DANKWAMBOIC PRESIDENCY heal the pangs of this clueless administration enshsrouded in somewhat unprecedented propaganda and hypocritic aura? We need a leadership that will integrate the already divided nation across ethnic and religious lines. We vehemently hope that the background and pedigree preceeding this Technocrat and seasoned public servant called Hassan Dankwanbo will surely count as advantage to revamping Nigeria's Economy in case the ambition is later actualised. As series of searchlights are beamed toward this direction and amid the unfolding trend cum controversies, early reviewal of this persona will be very crucial as we advance toward 2019.

Your unfolding answers so far are encouraging. |
Am yet to get comparative answers |
Dear forum I was confronted with this question during an argument today. But then I decided to throw the same question to platform with an intent to juxtapose answers, opinions and reasons. Irrespective of any person's political affiliations and sentiments, I ardently need objective responses and facts vis-à-vis the pedigree of personalities involved. I intend to use your samplings for a rescheduled debate tomorrow. Here comes the question: If you set up a business empire from the scratch, between Buhari and ATIKU, who will you bequeath the management of the said empire to; for profitability and growth in all ramification? I need personal answers devoid of sentiments but with verifiable examples. Thanks |
