beresponsible: Na your brain need reset. Official land borders are closed and not illegal borders. Seme and idiroko land borders are the most cost effective route for Ghanaian products into Nigeria and these are closed to importation from these neighbouring countries so where will Ghanaians pass apart from going through Cotonou to these land borders? 99.39% of Nigerian exports is by sea, let Ghana go through the sea too. |
Politics › Re: Ghana Becomes Nigeria’s Biggest Trade Partner After Border Closure by Area4Area: 7:31pm On Dec 13, 2019 |
FemiMaduka: I see a lot of people do not understand this piece of information. The gist is that Ghana, in the last three months, has become the biggest IMPORTER of Nigerian products. The value of the goods it bought FROM Nigeria was quoted as roughly $2.4bn.
If this is true, it only shows that Ghana depends far much more on Nigeria than Nigeria depends on it. The interesting aspect of this news is that it is reported that more than 97% of the goods that Ghana bought from Nigeria were non-petroleum articles. This is also a positive for Nigeria.
The relationship between any two African countries should be that of mutual respect, two-way productivity and shared brotherhood.
Now, we need to invest heavily in power, metallurgy, electronics and functional education/research. It is about time we made our companies competitive enough to break the South African hegemony in choice sectors. Thanks abeg, you are one of the people that clearly understand the message being passed. |

Wickedfacts: For the blockheads saying it's a lie and asking if the goods magically appeared in Nigeria, those goods were obviously shipped into Nigeria by sea.
This means Ghana was a country of origin for several smuggled goods. Exactly, that's why the border closure affected them so much. |

GENEGIRIA: nigeria our yeye distant neighbour. how market? now you nigerians will know how important Ghana is to the Nigerian economy
[s][/s] Lol, Ghana important to Nigeria indeed, FYI, Nigeria exports mostly industrial goods to Ghana and we export over 99% of our goods through the sea, so the land border closure doesn't really affect our economy. You import from Nigeria because you don't have the capacity and technical know-how that Nigerians possess to produce them and importing from Asia or Europe would be more expensive for you, your only option is Nigeria. Ghana is the first place of destination for our exports but not in the top five for our imports, meaning we practically produce everything Ghana produces. Stop the imports of industrial goods from Nigeria and your economy crumbles, we are not mates. Even with your 24/7 electricity, you still can't beat Nigeria in industrial products, bunch of noise makers. The balance of trade would definitely be in favour of Nigeria with a wide margin. |

ksat: I hope Nigerians will now see the importance of the Ghanaian economy to them. This piece of data should serve valuable lessons to most who come to rant their ignorance on this platform.
No one country is an island. we depend on each other for sustainable growth. if the Ghanaian economy grows and does well, its good for the entire west African states, because if a Nigerian company has the option to send its produce to nearby Ghana and USA, it will be a cheaper and wiser business decision to go to Ghana.
So henceforth, lets be circumspect and respectful of each other. If Ghana alone is consuming 17% of your entire export value, it should tell you something about the strength of the Ghanaian economy. 17% because they can't produce those goods themselves and importing from afar would be more expensive so Ghana has no option than to request for those goods from Nigeria. Ghana is not even in the first 5 of countries we import from because they do not have the capacity to produce for themselves but we have the capacity, how much more exporting to Nigeria so the Ghanaian economy has no strength and if Ghana decides to export to Nigeria. Ghana needs Nigeria more because they get cheaper imports from Nigeria, let them come through our seaports instead of crying for the land borders to be reopened. With your 24/7 electricity supply, I thought Ghana should be exporting more industrial goods to Nigeria but the reverse is the case |

If he had imported the trucks, I am dead sure you would have branded him an enemy of the Igbo people. Now that he patronized Anammco, you're claiming they shouldn't have sold a thing to him. If this isn't madness, then I'd be amazed at what is. Is it that some of you can't see the sarcasm in his post? |

So 99.39% of our export is by water and some people are have been telling us that Nigeria's trade with the rest of ECOWAS would be hampered with land border closure. No wonder no company in Nigeria had complained about the closure aside our leeching neighbours |

I wonder how many states can do that I'm not lying bro, I know about the extra pay but it still doesn't mean the teachers are not the least paid |

Solsix: So all of them resigned at once went home and sat down doing nothing. Sometimes I wonder if some people think at all. No doubt the pay might not be compared to what some states or even federal pay, but there was never a time 46 doctors resigned same time. Each of them resigned when the get a better offer. That is the argument Do you stay in Anambra or you're just saying what you think is the ideal, do you know some of the doctors one on one and asked? |

Mandeyy: Show us the link to their salary information since you're sure they're paid such an amount of money. Stop talking trash. They didn't resign together. Be reasonable for once. Besides, I'm not in support of poor working condition, but to say that they resigned together is a lie. What I posted wasn't what I just made up and this doesn't need links because I heard it not from one or two doctors, if you live in Anambra, just go to any general hospital and make enquiries. |

Mandeyy: give us the link when it happened during Obi's administration and where it was stated that Anambra State is one of the states that pays lowest to civil servants. No need arguing, Anambra civil servants are the lowest paid in the country, if you have friends or relations who are in service, you can ask them. |

This is not hearsay, I witnessed it in 2011, when these Medical doctors in Anambra went on strike for over 6 months, during Peter Obi tenure Doctors in Anambra state are the least paid in the country both at the teaching hospital and those in the state civil service |

Solsix: Nna eh u are difficult to teach. The hospital is a state government hospital, if any doctor get a federal job or a job abroad won't he quit?? Please keep quiet if you don't know what to say instead of trying to mislead the public, they resigned together. Earlier this year they embarked on a strike because of the poor pay, how can a resident doctor in the hospital be earning 140-150k per month and his colleagues in other teaching hospitals both state and federal are earning 200-300k monthly? Even the doctors in the state civil service even earn less. |

enemybulldozer: The true born haters of Igbos are you afonjas. The role your god awolowo played during and after the civil war is still fresh in our memories. The quit notice you made mention of was because, Igbos are tired of sharing a country with you afonjas and want biafra as a result of that.
Afonjas have been fighting Igbos since time immemorial without placing on finger on where Igbos went wrong to deserve such injustices. Am not saying this for you to see reasons with me nor to plead to you afonjas to stop fighting and hating Igbos.
What happened in 1967 will not happen again in your favour go and mark it somewhere. That the world came to aid Nigeria in defeating Biafra does not mean that such rubbish will repeat itself again. So stop consoling yourself with that kind thrash.
Lastly, when did the SS minorities gave Igbos quit notice?? I know that you afonjas are good in lies and propaganda but not to this extent. Insecurity and inferiority complex at its peak, the north gave you an ultimatum, it is because of afonja, the SS gave you another, afonja again. Always chest beating with no substance, we all thought that by now, you'd have burnt down the zoo, what's still holding you back? @ the bolded, if you were born before the war, I'm sure that when the war started, that's what you'd be saying and chest beating but what finally happened? We're no e-warriors. It is naturally within us. As for Biafra, she will soon come. That's why millions of us have keyed into her establishment with all that we've got. We totally believe.
