I still don't understand what country's president walks from point A to point B in the US. I would expect them to fly everywhere with presidential vehicles.

Obama came to Nigeria with the presidenail vehicles stashed in the presidential plane.

In our case, the president had to wait on rides or walk if he has to.

I think someone needs to take a better look at how these trips are planned. Walking around by a president is unheard of. Security is paramount.
Obama in Nigeria? He obviously visited just you in your village..

Btw, the fact that we don't take our own cars abroad doesn't mean the people we pay to provide the president with transportation shouldn't. We have taxpayers funded official diplomatic cars in our embassies for such engagements so why was transportation provided...? This is not rocket science.

Dumbness is you calling other people dumb without offering any sane and intelligent counter to my post.

I said PMB should take the blame for not firing the same people Nigerians just fired at the polls.

Nigerians don't want them and they spoke with their votes so why is PMB keeping rejected incompetents?

Who took the president to the wrong gate?

Are the civil servants we pay to serve us at the UN so clueless that they don't even know anything about the layout at the UN?

Who failed to provide timely transportation for the president?

Who failed to gibe the president accurate and vetted schedule of official events?

Answer these question first just to see how unintelligent you people sound.

Or is it the president's responsibility to draw up his own schedule, provide his own transportation, find out what meeting to attend and even run around looking for the right gates to the right meetings?

Either common sense is strange to you people or you are all just too mentally crooked and lazy to be truthful, honest and formulate sensible and intelligent reasonings..

I guess it must have being due to the same reason, for crying out loud,PMB is in NY because of this meetings, why in the world would he miss out any of them intentionally. A lot of people just want to prove that PMB is no better president and that is why they are trying to put all the blame on him,PMB missed the Boko haram meeting cos he probably do not have it on his schedule, later got to hear such a meeting hold and he tried to ask questions on why he didn't have it on his schedule and the only excuse he was given was that, the meeting wasn't official?

Those who prepared the schedule are the once to be blamed and not PMB and i don't think PMB was responsible for their appointment in the first place, someone else is.
This is obviously the only sane and rational conclusion, but not according to the usual tribal crusaders who sees everything from their tribal lens..

Now we've found out that it was a deliberate sabotage by some worthless and incompetent civil servants and residue from the last useless and incompetent administration PMB should have fired long time.

For this, I blame PMB. Trusting the same useless, worthless and incompetent people Nigerians just rejected at the polls to look out for him was a fatal error and naivety on his part.

Nigerians went to the polls to get rid of these bad eggs and PMB rightfully trying to do things the right way in effect allowed the same people to contaminate his activities.

These worthless and and incompetent people should have been sacked.

PMB, you reap what you sow.

This one is on you...

It is people like you that give education a very bad name!

The number of delegates to the UN has nothing to do with missing a function. The President or any of the 22 members of that delegation or even a member of the Nigerian High Commission Office to the UN could have attended the meeting on behalf of Nigeria.

The issue is simple: That meeting was clearly NOT raised as of importance and flagged to the Nigerian delegation and thus NOT included in the schedule of functions to be attended by the delegation.

Now the After Action Review would be a)What went wrong; b) Why was the meeting not flagged for importance c) Is there to be a change in the Meeting selection criteria d) Who is to blame?

The President will ALWAYS depend on the inputs and schedule drawn up by our Representatives to the UN, that is their job and that is why they receive salaries.

Note, the Representative to the UN actually holds a Diplomatic status in US and therefore she is our Ambassador to the UN.
Well said...

Irresponsible people just can not accept responsibility for their actions?

Is the president responsible for scheduling international meetings and engagements? Is this not the job of the foreign ministry and even why we have resident diplomats at the UN and ministry of foreign affairs?

If it's not her responsibility, maybe we should just get rid of her and our entire UN diplomats and replace them with more competent and proactive people who are willing to do their job and accept responsibility for their actions?

Politics › Goodluck Jonathan Missed International Investment Summit In London. by aresa(op): 11:41pm On Sep 27, 2015
Nigeria's president has threatened legal action after reports he missed an important investment summit in London after "heavy" birthday celebrations at his suite at a luxury Park Lane hotel the night before.
Goodluck Jonathan sought medical attention for what his adviser said was "an indisposition" the day after his 56th birthday, and doctors recommended that he rest instead of attending the meeting.
But an online news service claimed that instead he was laid low after overindulging at the presidential suite at the Park Lane InterContinental hotel during a party that the website alleged "lasted till early [in the] morning".
This was an "entirely fictional, malicious, hate-driven and scurrilous distortion of the facts of the president's indisposition", Reuben Abati, Mr Goodluck's media chief, said in a statement on behalf of his boss.
"Their incessant claim of a bibulous president is pure fiction and blackmail, and the product of malicious imagination," he said.

Embarrassment As Jonathan Misses Speaking Slot At AU Gathering

By SaharaReporters, New York
President Goodluck Jonathan today missed the opportunity to give a speech at the ongoing Special Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the African Union (AU).
Two members of President Jonathan’s delegation spoke to SaharaReporters from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia which also serves as the secretariat of the AU. They reported that there was confusion among delegates as well as embarrassment on the part of Nigerian officials when Mr. Jonathan failed to show up in the hall to deliver his speech.

Mr. Jonathan’s “no-show” reportedly set tongues wagging as delegates from other African nations asked confused Nigerian officials why their president did not appear to address the AU on an occasion as important as this year’s assembly. The AU was inaugurated 50 years ago and known for many years as the Organization of African Unity (OAU). In the 1970s and 1980s, Nigeria was one of the organization’s most dynamic members, using international diplomacy as well as funds to push for the liberation of Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

But another source scoffed at both excuses. “If the president was in the toilet, his aides should have informed the protocol at the summit to delay in calling him to speak. And if the president wanted to hold a bilateral meeting, why should he fix it during the time he was told he would address the assembly??” He added that somebody within Mr. Jonathan’s inner circle disclosed that the Nigerian president had stayed up till late eating and drinking with members of his inner circle. Mr. Jonathan also reportedly spent a long time consulting with some of his governor associates back in Nigeria about ways to push back against the Nigerian Governors Forum that yesterday elected Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as their chairman. Mr. Jonathan, who has had a long-running political feud with Governor Amaechi, had backed Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State for the post of chairman of the governors’ group. Mr. Jang’s defeat rattled the president, several sources told SaharaReporters yesterday.

“Mr. President was up very, very late. But he had been up that late at night and still woke up in time to honor his appointments,” the source said. “But today, he did not seem to realize that addressing the assembly was an important obligation.”

Our two main sources said they and other Nigerian diplomats were shocked and embarrassed when Mr. Jonathan’s name was called to give his speech but the Nigerian head of state was nowhere to be found. “The official summit announcer called Mr. President a few more times, and then the program went ahead to another speaker,” said one source.

Mr. Jonathan later showed up to join in the photo-op session at the meeting and disappeared shortly afterwards without offering any explanation for his absence when it was his turn to speak.

Among those at the AU’s assembly were President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe as well as former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
