Lagos is really developing to a mega city.

While my brothers from the south east have refuse to go and develop their own states.
How is it even possible for them to develop their own state when they think they own Lagos and other places outside their neglected and unproductive states.

They spend more time hating and and crying over other states that they pay zero attention to their own useless and incompetent governors.

When was even the last time they posted anything meaningful or projects from their states?

You only see them coming out to hate and spew rubbish when other people post projects and developments from other states.

They are eternally cursed.

The bridge is like that because it is a private property. There are too many nonchalancy when it comes to govt. Owned properties.
Lekki Ikoyi bridge is public property built with taxpayers money and it belongs to the people of Lagos state.

The state did what sensible and responsible governments all over the world by privatizing and concessioning maintenance of that bridge.

Having steady funds for constant maintenance is one of the reasons why they tolled the bridge in the first place..

Most government properties like MMA and Railway should be privatized or privatize maintenance...

You can’t hold us to ransom, Amosun warns Labour
October 19, 2016

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said his government is determined not to allow itself to be held to ransom by any group or individuals for selfish, parochial and ulterior motives.

Speaking at the 2017 Budget Town Hall Meeting held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta yesterday, the governor, who was apparently commenting on the strike action called by some labour leaders in the state, said, “the era of playing politics under the guise of labour movement and agitation for improved welfare and condition of service is over and gone for good in Ogun State.

“People that are interested in politics should have the courage and honour to resign and join the politicians. This is in no way trying to abridge the right of our people to agitate for better or improved condition of living, but in doing so, we should allow reason, consideration for other stakeholders and general interest of the state to prevail. This is the only way to ensure the continued development of the state”,

He noted that despite the challenges currently facing the nation, the state has remained afloat by being one of the few ones paying workers salary as and when due.

The governor therefore solicited the support of all, saying, “it is pertinent to remind us that we all need to come together again to sustain and increase the achievements of the last five and half years. It is only when we do this that we will take our state to the desired height.”

Amosun assured of his government’s unwavering commitment and service to the development of the state and the improvement in the living standards of the people, adding that it is “set on an irreversible journey to take our state to greater heights.

“I cannot end this address without reiterating our administrations unwavering commitment to the continued development of Ogun State and all our people, irrespective of classification of gender, location, religion or job stratification.

“But in doing this, it is also important to note that no group or individual can be more important than the state that binds all of us together.

“In as much as people talk and appreciate several projects that we have executed (schools, hospitals, roads, housing estates, the number of new industries, power etc.), I would love to be remembered mostly for establishing and sustaining a system-driven environment.

“Once again, I crave your continued support and understanding which this 2017 Budget Town Hall Meeting seeks to promote as we set on an irreversible journey to take our State to greater heights”, he said

1. Projects are less than half of the total budgets while recurrent expenditures like wage bill, vendors bills, utility bills and last time I checked, Lagos state has the 2nd largest civil service in Nigeria so assigning and comparing just projects sounds a little bit ignorant and misguided.

2. The article you posted says Lagos state owe over $1 trillion which is either a bogus lie or ignorant typo.

Ambode inherited N432 billion debt from Fashola so where did you and the article get your trillion dollar from?6

Ambode inherited N432b debt from Fashola – Lagos Government reveals

https://www.nairaland.com/newpost?topic=3418984&post=50368625

3. To determine what was spent or not spent on anything, you first have to itemize all the projects started and completed, how much was paid in wages, paid to vendors, on utilities and so on and on.

Again, your argument is lame and ignorant and I won't even call it criticism, but I'll call it misguided and ill informed rant..

1. Do you know any of the projects?

2. In your estimation have they been satisfactorily completed?

note the Approved Downpayment Column - these monies are those given upfront to the contractor

3. Does the above note make sense in any of the scenarios? If not, why?
We have discussed this on NL and clearly showed that Fashola's 8 years delivered more started and completed projects than 16 years of PDP andf GEJ.

Also that Fashola delivered more projects than all the governments, states and federal in Nigeria combined since independence.

The projects are in the thread below in vivid colors.

You should be feeling sorry for yourself, your people, past and future generations of migrant workers are only successful in other people's prosperous, accommodation and progressing land instead of their own hostile, backward and unproductive land that they must abandon and go elsewhere for their daily bread.

You see, Lagos really should be the least of your worries, worry more about your own future and the future of your many generations to come abandoning your worthless and unproductive villages for their daily bread elsewhere.

Lagos existed and developed before the arrival of your forefathers so of what relevance are you to Lagos state? Lagos state getting rid of you is a plus for Lagos so good riddance.
Politics › Re: Lagos Economy To Grow Bigger Than The Rest Of Nigeria – The Atlantic by aresa: 5:38pm On Oct 19, 2016
Right now, Lagos is the 7th largest economy in Africa and larger than the economy of at least 42 countries in Africa without the typical oil dependent Nigeria which means Lagos is operating based on a very very diverse economy across the board that it's GDP is inching towards Nigeria's entire GDP.

Lagos's high GDP at the moment is half of what it's going to be starting from 2018 when the ground breaking economic activities surrounding the LFTZ Dangote's largest single refinery in the world, fertilizer, LNG and petrochemicals and 12,000MW plant explodes. The potential industrial and commercial applications and IGR for the Lagos state government looks mind bugling even taxable deductions from hundreds of thousands of jobs to be generated alone before we even get to collateral taxes on goods and services and available educate manpower makes for a great future for Lagos state.

It means if Nigeria today is the largest economy in Africa, then entire economy/GDP of Lagos state inching towards and eventually toppling Nigeria's economy means Lagos state is set to be the largest economy in the whole of Africa.

The implication here is far reaching even beyond Nigeria as a country.

And it doesn't make any sense holding any meaningful and intelligent argument with you as you will drag it to your lowly level of tribal bashings. I will not reduce myself to your level.

As for Rochas,he knows me personally. Some of us have not stopped showing the world the barage of falsehood that has characterised his govt. And it won't end there,we will surprise him and his boys in 2019.

As for the tunnel and your argument that other developed nations get flooded too,I know that your demonic hatred for Igbo's will make you happy if you see them suffer but I will explain the difference between both scenrrios. A flood can happen and the current will overwhelm the bridge. In that case there is very little the bridge can do to stop getting flooded. But in this Rochas bridge, the engineering is so wrong that with a little rain fall, the waters gets channelled to the bridge and ends there. So the waters end their flowat the tunnel.
[/s]

Meaningless essay and guilty conscience.. Where is the tribal bashing and who tribal bashed you? Learn how to read and comprehend simple English words

1. I've shown small and big underpass tunnels and they get flooded same way under rain.

2. If you are going to fake intelligence about how and why underpass tunnels get flooded, common sens dictates that you show us the engineering and Meteorology facts that determines what and which type of underpass tunnels gets flooded.

3. Also, show us the official inches or feet amount of rain that fell in Imo state on that day that necessitated the flooding under that bridge.
