Politics › Re: Saraki's Travails, APC's Loss And PDP's Gain by aresa: 9:51pm On Sep 18, 2015
[s]
TonyeBarcanista:
The travails of Senator Bukola Saraki and his faction in APC is a pointer that all is not well with the political structure of APC. There are two power blocs in the APC fighting for the soul of the party. On one side is President Buhari and Bola Tinubu backed, on the other side is the Senator Saraki led Likeminds rebels. Irrespective of where the pendulum swing, the GREATEST beneficiary will be the PDP if it get its act right.

The APC Crises and Travails of Saraki
The emergence of Saraki as the Senate President and Ekweremadu as the Deputy created a crack and bad blood within the ruling the party. Saraki's insistence on 'appointing' his preferred candidates for the Senate's Principal offices instead of the party candidates was a move that set a brick-wall against ANY reconciliation. Then came Saraki's ongoing travails with the Code of Conduct Bureau that is likely to sweep him(which is his business).

APC's Loss
It is no doubt that Bukola Saraki controls the APC political structure of Kwara state. He has the unalloyed loyalty of Governor Fatah Ahmed and other state officials. He also has the loyalty of NASS contingents from Kwara state. Outside Kwara state he enjoys support of his co-APC rebels majorly in the North Central. This advently means that a faction of APC Chieftains loyal to Saraki will be at loggerhead with leadership of the party over the 'treatment' of their comrade. The crack in the APC means a shrink in the party structure. Recall that APC could only win through marginal advantage of less than 3million votes. This crack literally mean that APC structures has weaned especially in Kwara state and other little areas where the rebellious APC legislators and chieftains have influence. I am very optimistic that there's going to be more fall-out among party faithfuls. APC Chieftains may succeed in cutting short Saraki and his co-rebels ambitions but they also have helped in decimating portions of their structure.

PDP Must Be Prepared And Be Careful:
PDP need to manage themselves and must put machinery in place to manage the forthcoming convention of the party. It must not afford to mismanage every pre and post convention events. More importantly the PDP must take advantage of absorbing young people and redefine itself with the knowledge that they will be going into 2019 against a divided ruling APC (hopefully, there will be more cracks in the coming months/years).

APC Internal Problem Isn't Unexpected:
On April 02 (about 24 hours after Buhari was declared winner of the March 28 Presidential election), I did an article Titled Arise O' PDP, The Future Is Bright. In the said article, I anticipated this crack within the APC though I never knew that it will come 'too soon'. I shall conclude this piece with excerpt from that article.

May God Bless PDP
Power To The People!

Oga, I'm not a lawyer my post is based on your rational emotive political perspective and you know it.

I put it to you that you have already convicted saraki and it's based on what you think. Or have the court pronounced saraki guilty? Whatever rational you think places buhari, tinubu, fashola, amaechi, aisha buhari etc in right standing, will also apply to saraki except based on your emotional political leaning. That's my point. Had saraki not gone against the tide, will this issues arise?

Did you make this position when fashola had his travails? Or you ignored it because of what you think is corruption and those you think defines corruption?

I don't give a damn about saraki but same with tinubu. You are obviously waiting for him to be convicted before you agree that he perpetrated and perpetuated corruption for all it's worth? Now saraki would never have gone through this route had he not taken his political destiny in his hands.

I believe you got the point now. Don't also forget that anyone who attempts to prob the power sector gets silenced.
Asking Saraki to do what noble and respectable citizens do by appearing in a court of law to defend himself and convicting him before court judgement are two diffrent things.

You really need to worry more about your own flawed ability to properly read and comprehend simple English words...

I have read many threads here on nairaland and I can conclude that " The people shouting witch hunt as regards to Saraki case are the people shouting that Wike should probe Amaechi and the people shouting witch hunt in Amaechi's case are the people calling for the arrest of Saraki". It smacks of the highest point of hypocrisy when you stand on two sides on two cases that are similar.
Apples and orange irrelevancies...

Are there any criminal charges or arrest warrant against Amaechi pending anywhere and he refused to honor the warrant of arrest or appear before any court of law?

The answer is NO.

Pa Eziachi, good day sir. In as much as I would concur with you on some points made, I think you're being a hypocrite. If my memory serves me right, what was your reaction on this same forum when Buhari was being accused of certificate forgery? You all said he was being hounded but today you're feeling different. Please stop pointing fingers and let Nigerians which you called accursed, express themselves in their hypocritical ways.
Unintelligent rumor mongering, innuendoes and baseless fixation on certificate and corruption charges and criminal court case are two different things.

Was PMB charged to any court to defend himself against certificate or anything in any court of law? No.

Must you people always come up with the most ridiculous, absurd and unintelligent nonsense?

Very well articulated.

Unfortunately, not all Nigerians are in that odious basket and I'm sure you know very well the folks ranting against the administration, the president and his anti corruption efforts.

I'm glad you referenced Tinubu and his court trial by the last administration and below was what the Tribunal judge said about Tinubu's conduct...

The tribunal chairman lauded Tinubu for making himself available throughout the trial, as he said it was not mandatory for the accused challenging jurisdiction of the court to appear before it.

Even his kinfolks didn't cry or yell any kind of hunting, they let him handle his own business which he did on his own.

With clean hands, there's no reason why you shouldn't make yourself available to the courts to clear your name and go on with your business.

Our problem is criminals in power and lawless people making the same laws they don't and can not subscribe to.

Sadly, this man is the most powerful lawmaker in Nigeria.

What a shame..

Politics › Ambode Appoints The Nation Columnist, Mobolaji Sanusi As New LASAA Boss by aresa(op): 3:20am On Sep 17, 2015
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has a new Managing Director.

He is Mobolaji Sanusi, a columnist with The Nation newspaper.

Sanusi, who resumed work on Wednesday, succeeds George Noah.

DAILY POST gathered on Wednesday that Sanusi was recommended for the job by Tunji Bello, a former Commissioner for Environment, a former LASAA MD and current Secretary to the Lagos State Government.

Sanusi is a die-hard fan of ex-Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu.

He is known to have defended the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on several occasions.

On June 5, 2015, Sanusi lambasted immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, in a article he titled ‘Fashola’s signal of ingratitude’.

In the piece, he castigated the Senior Advocate of Nigeria for working against Tinubu, who according to him, “kick-started his (Fashola’s) great leap to political prominence”.

LASAA, a brain-child of Tinubu, was established by the Lagos State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency Law, 2006.

The agency is responsible for regulating and controlling outdoor advertising and signage displays in Lagos State.

Countries like Dubai saw the end of oil and diversified their economy by largely investing in real estate all over the world. They own most the best buildings and properties in NY, London, Europe and beyond including the tons of world class buildings all over their own Duba.

They practically make more billions on real estate than oil.
