Impeachment: Fayose sends royal fathers to beg Tinubu
Embattled Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose has sent two first class traditional rulers to meet the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Sources close to Irohinodua hinted that the traditional rulers who left Ekiti State this morning were mandated to meet with the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu who is expected to lead them to the former Lagos Governor whose political tactics continue to overwhelm the nation. The governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko was said to have met with Asiwaju few days before the election pleading with him to forget and forgive his misdeeds having seen the inevitable failure of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) at the March 28 election. But it was too late. “We are on a peace mission. Governor Fayose has asked us to meet with Oba Akiolu who should open the door for us to see Asiwaju Tinubu. We know there are moves to impeach the governor, our role as traditional rulers is the look for a constructive way to end the crisis. If the Governor will be impeached, we do not want him to be disgraced again for the second time in office”, one of the the first class traditional ruler told our correspondent on Sunday. The royal fathers are currently being lodged at a high-rate hotel in down town Lagos and are expected to meet with Oba of Lagos later today who will take them to Tinubu later in the night. The royal father who pleaded anonymity said the governor ‘is not arrogant. He has been misunderstood. We agree he made some mistakes, but there should be forgiveness and then Ekiti can move forward.” When asked if their mission was to stop the impeachment, he said: “We want a peaceful resolution of the crisis. We want Asiwaju to intervene and give Fayose a save landing.” Mr Fayose was on Friday served with impeachment notice by the 19 legitimate lawmakers who want him to respond to allegations of gross misconduct within the next seven days. Reliable sources told Irohinodua that President Goodluck Jonathan is not interested in Ekiti State any longer. “The President has achieved a landmark when he congratulated the APC Presidential candidate, Mohammadu Buhari. He does not want to see any other thing that will cancel this goodwill,” a source at the Presidency told Irohinodua this evening. The source said that President Jonathan actually holds the view that Fayose’s recklessness and tactless political moves were partly responsible for his failure at the national leve http://www.osundefender.org/?p=234946 |

Jorussia: I am a very staunch supporter of GMB,but,i don't support the impeachment of fayose.I believe he should be forgiven. SAY NO TO POLITICAL VENDETTA. What's vendetta got to do with rule of law? We can not keep allowing governors/thugs abuse us and the system, hurt and maim people, promote violence against the same people they swore to protect and let them get away with it. We have to put a stop to it. We saw the same thing in Bayelsa 2 days ago when the sitting governor led thugs into a court of law to disrupt court proceedings and beat up public officials. These are chief law enforcement officers for crying out low. #Change means stopping and changing such shameful and disgraceful behavior and it has nothing to do with vendetta... |

mmsen: I have no political affiliations of any kind but the EFCC is not apolitical, never has been - they move when they are told to move. They shouldn't be told to do anything, they should just do their job as defined by the creating laws, acts and the Nigerian constitution. They are non functional, unproductive and ineffective because they have been grossly corrupted, politicised and compromised by the same people we put in charge to appoint their leaders and supervise them. They can not effectively arrest and prosecute offenders when the president swipes offenders away from the EFCC by hiring them to fill top government positions and in another position to loot and steal. The president undermines and sabotages our law enforcement agencies. Tinubu is too well connected to be investigated for the Lekki toll gate scam and the various relating land deals. Tinubu is just one man and he's not above the president of Nigeria or even the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. Saying he's well connected is rubbish because the same GEJ didn't see the connection when he put Tinubu of trial for corruption. The court found nothing on Tinubu and the case was thrown out so this is not about connection, but about you just making up bogus allegations that even your government and his enemies couldn't pin on him. Nigeria has a Freedom of Information Act brought in under the Jonathan administration that is applicable on a Federal level but so far cannot be applied on a state level, hence why Fashola refused to disclose the inner workings of his treasury when a request was made - the fear being that Tinubu and Fashola would be exposed. Fashola functions under the laws and constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria so feel free to take him to court to address your concerns. |

mmsen: There are many credible and competent Nigerians, the world over the problem is that politics naturally attracts a certain element. No sane, responsible and non corrupt president on the surface of the earth hires questionable and tainted people or people under criminal investigation. Only Jona in Nigeria does You attacked Jonathan and claimed he is corrupt (without proof) but the nature of Nigerian politics is that most people involved have been involved in or have benefited from corruption. Unless Jonathan went outside of the realms of politics and found those with no political allegiance would he have found those without stigma. You have to be personally and mentally corrupt first to say and believe that stealing is not corruption You have to be personally corrupt if the only pool to pick from is the one polluted with corrupt people under your own efcc investigation for corruption. You have to be very and personally corrupt to hire a corrupt individual you are prosecuting for corruption to be your campaign spokesman and to sell your your re election candidacy to Nigerians and not only that, to give the same corrupt individual you are prosecuting for corrupt armed Nigerian police protection and escort. Tinubu is largely responsible for the APC win - is he less corrupt than those that you named? If Tinubu is corrupt, then please tell us why your commander in chief and the chief law enforcement officers of the federal republic of Nigeria won't arrest, prosecute and put him in jail and the last time your useless GEJ put Tinubu on trial for corruption, they found nothing and his worthless case was thrown out of courts o what are you talking about? Adamu Mu’azu = PDP chairman = Still under EFCC investigation for looting N19.8bill.
Who appointed them? Corrupt and incompetent Jonathan.
Jonathan is corrupt, he doesn't see anything wrong with corruption and corrupt people, he mostly hire and appoint corrupt people and even the ones under his own efcc investigation which in most cases effectively sabotages and undermines EFCC's investigations against these corrupt people simply because how do you prosecute and jail the same folks your boss's friends and who your boss just hired?
GMB's mantra was corruption and GEJ as a corrupt and corrupt people lover gave GMB all the ammunition needed to crucify GEJ with.
You can not tell me that with all the credible and smart people in this country of 170 million people, only corrupt people under efcc investigation are the only folks available to pick from specifically FFK. Why FFK of all people? |

We don’t want to go to jail’ – Akpabio
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, has said that no Nigerian will like to go to jail without committing crime. Akpabio, who is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Forum, said this at the PDP presidential campaign rally holding in Lagos. He said that in the past many innocent Nigerians were jailed for offences they knew nothing about, adding that Nigerians should therefore not vote for a party that is threatening to repeat the ugly past. According to Akpabio, the alleged missing money from the treasury has been shared by all the governors. He alleged missing money from the treasury has been shared by all the governors. The governor said the alleged missing money was a propaganda tool created by the All Progressives Congress. He said the money which was about 55bn was shared because of the needs of the people in their states. http://thecitizenng.com/other-news/we-dont-want-to-go-to-jail-akpabio/That was back in January... Gov. Akpabio begs for soft-landing
Sends Prince Akapbio to Lagos with $.5bn to negotiate deal The week couldn’t have ended on a worse note for Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State. Following the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election of March 28, the governor took a fright because of the record of his administration in corruption, political assassinations, record bad governance, and began to look around for a way out of the noose that is tightening around his neck. In Nigerian lingo, this is called a search for soft landing. The irony here is worth noting. While Akpabio strides around with swagger and boasts to please his followers that all is well and that he remains fully in charge and that he will deliver Udom to the Hilltop Mansion, he is actually wracked by fear and is secretly plotting his escape from justice. Thus, like most coward dictators, he is goading on his followers to perdition while clandestinely scheming to save his skin and that of his family. So it was that after a kitchen cabinet meeting of his wife and brothers, they decided to reach out to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, national leader of the APC. A well-oiled team armed with $500,000 in cash was dispatched on Tuesday this week to Asiwaju’s house in Ikoyi, Lagos. What made the week to end in such a life-threatening heart-break for Akpabio distraught is that this special exploratory/negotiating team returned to Akwa Ibom today (Saturday 4 April) empty-handed. They could not secure any access to Tinubu. They were immediately told to be on standby and return to Lagos Monday. The team, which was led by Prince Akpabio, a cousin to Governor Akpabio, included Ime Uwah (brother to Enobong Uwah, commissioner for environment, and Emmanuel Enoidem, commissioner for special duties. The consultant for the soft-landing project is known simply as Kunle, who supplies cars to the state government and the Akpabio family. Kunle’s role in the project is to recruit someone who can help to work out access to the APC national leader. Their first target for that role was Mr. Ben Akabueze, an Ibo who is holding the economic planning and budget portfolio in the Lagos State government. The team later changed its mind and went for Mr. Wale Edun, former commissioner for finance under the administration of Tinubu as Lagos State governor. APC NEWS ALERThttps://www.facebook.com/APCNEWSALERT?fref=ts |

[s] Medley: I have wanted to ignore some ignominy,of people that find it difficult to praise good deeds, but i don't want this to continue the path.
Time Frame for Conceding defeat
GEJ could have waited till 11:00pm or the next day or even until INEC issues the certificate of returen to GMB. He could have also waited for electoral tribunal and claim he was rigged-out(It's not oblivious that there are evidence of child voters, ballot snatching, card readers failures) is set-up,atleast to put up a show before he can be ousted out of office as an incumbent.
allay and douse tension of supporters
have you imagined what is silence might portend. His supporters, due to fear of what will become of them and their benefit from GEJs govt. would have been restless and this might cause uprisings.
The problem is that we quickly forgot what happened in 2011,or are we implying that people in the south-south have no emotional attachment to the election, that could make them perpetuate and wreck evil.
was GEJs concession,a decision of his?
Information from NTA news,in an interview with Abdusalam abubakar,he made it clear that when he called buhari, buhari told him that GEJ called him by 5:15pm to concede defeat. How do people think Peace keepers will not respect a sitting president and will persuade him to concede an election that the INEC have not declared the winner?
Is this Concession the first in Africa some people have been praying,he rejects the result and wishing that riot springs up everywhere, but he disappointed their greatest desire.
Just be aware that any violence that springs up,during the elections or after the result have been announced that can't be traced to Jonathans statement or actions,he will not be held responsible, but he ensured that no life was lost due to the already heated result tension. This allayed fears and put it clear to anyone that intends to forment trouble that they are doing so not on his name or authority and they should accept the result.
He may not be the first as some of us want to suggest to belittle the action, but he still remain the first in our fledgling and nascent democracy. Its not too hard to congratulate him on this.
If GEJ had wanted to be in power for 8 years, have you ever asked yourself why he appointed Jega, was he mandated to? Even Jega recently declared that Jonathan has not ever told him to manipulate any result on his behalf. Though some will prefer to say he his clueless, this is not the case,he needn't change the hands of time,he want the voice of the people to be heard. [/s] You people need to stop insulting our senses with this rubbish, the loser did himself a favor by surrendering because saw Gbabo in his staring at him. OBJ and World leaders warned him too. He was cornerd and had no choice but to surrender to the Nigerian electorates and their wishes. Even his wife's case is still before the ICC. Btw, why should we praise him for doing what he was supposed to do? Talk battered people with low self-esteem, insecurity and low expectations. . |
