Global consumer goods company, Procter and Gamble Nigeria (P&G) has expanded its production line with the completion of a $300 million manufacturing plant in Agbara industrial estate, Ogun State, western Nigeria.
When commissioned, the new production plant, which was completed in 18 months, would be the largest single investment in Nigeria by a US company.
P&G’s Sub-Sahara Government Relations Associate Director, Temitope Iluyemi commended the Ogun State government during a tour at the company’s facility in Agbara, noting that the administration’s drive for industrialisation heralded by a “friendly atmosphere for investment to thrive” has helped the company’s growth. Iluyemi therefore pledged that P&G would continue to partner both the Federal and State governments as it continues performing its corporate social responsibility, adding that the inauguration of the plant, which would be done on Thursday, would also contribute significantly to the nation’s GDP. Ogun State commissioner for commerce and industry, who was at the tour of the new facility on behalf of the government, Bimbo Ashiru pledged that the state would continue to make the business atmosphere friendly. Developments like this, according to Ashiru would encourage the government to do more in providing necessary infrastructure to attract new investments and make existing ones thrive. Ashiru also advised the management of P&G to ensure a cordial relationship is developed with the host community through life-enhancing corporate social activities, especially provision of jobs for qualified indigenes.
The new plant, when fully operational, is expected to provide about 2,000 direct jobs for Nigerians and several thousands of indirect jobs.

Politics › West African Cotton To Invest 5bn Naira In Ogun State. by aresa(op): 2:13am On Jul 30, 2016 |
The West African Cotton Company says it will invest about five billion Naira in the agricultural sector in Ogun State.
The company will also invest in other value added chains in the sector.
Proposal for the investment was made known on Tuesday, at a meeting between the State government officials and the management of the West African Cotton Company.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun assured the management of the company, would-be investors and business owners in the State of a better and conducive business environment that would ensure good returns on investments.
While also promising the necessary political will to drive the State’s economy, the Governor said it had become imperative, in view of the dwindling resources from the Federation Account, to seek other sources of revenue for the state.
The Nigerian government had laid a plan to diversify the economy, tapping the agricultural potentials of the nation, to shift the economy from huge reliance on crude oil to agriculture which was the mainstay of the economy before crude oil was discovered.
West African Cotton Company is positioning to benefit from the diversification, with the planned investment in the agricultural sector in Ogun State.
The company is engaged in cotton ginning, selling of cotton lint to textile mills, export of cotton lint, gin motes and textile mill wastes.
The company also imports cotton from other neighbouring West African countries for onward sales to local textile mills, which would boost production of local fabric and improve quality.

IOCs, Traders Place Orders As Lagos Begins First Crude Oil Shipping Augusthttps://www.informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Oil-vessel.jpgNigeria is set to export its first crude oil lifting from the Aje field, offshore Lagos, by the end of August following the commissioning of a production and storage vessel for the product.
The news of first crude oil lifting and exportation from the Aje field will come as good news to Nigerians in the wake of repeated threats by the Niger Delta Avengers that no single drop of oil will be exported from Niger Delta oil fields.
As oil production in the Niger Delta continue to decline following the activities of militants, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State in May, 2016 announced to the world that the state had officially joined the League of Oil Producing States in Nigeria with the discovery of crude oil by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited (YFP) in the state.
The Aje oil field has the capacity to produce at least 12,000 barrels per day, with a possibility to increase to 25,000 to 50,000 barrels per day in the nearest future.
The announcement of the first crude oil lifting from the Aje field was made by yesterday by Panoro Energy, the London based independent E&P Company in partnership with YFP in an operational update on its website.
The company, however, stated that the targeted stabilised production rates have not yet been achieved, due to mechanical issues and Nigerian regulatory approvals.
“Until the outstanding issues are resolved, which could take until the end of Q4 2016, production shall be maintained at a restricted daily rate of approximately 7,000-8,000 barrels of oil”, the company stated.
“We expect the first crude oil lifting from the Front Puffin FPSO to take place at the end of August”, it said adding “In the meantime we continue to be encouraged by the performance of the reservoir to date
The company said several international oil companies and trading houses have expressed interest in purchasing Aje crude.
Laboratory assays have been delivered on Aje crude oil which show it to be as expected a high quality grade of approximately 42 degree API”, the company’s update noted.
John Hamilton, CEO of Panoro said, “We are very pleased with the reservoir performance at Aje and are planning the next steps to realize its full potential
