[s] lexyclasy: You need to borrow common sense as well, PMB in his speech says that this project was executed by last admin and he is please to commission it....now the point is if a project was 99% completed and the one that is not upto 10% but the total sum for the project has been expended where did you expect WIKE to get another money to execute it ...WIKE is going on with other abandon project executed by AMAECHI which the transaction are still traceable such as Trans amadi road dualization, Greater Port harcourt estate at trans amadi and many others...Rivers Mono rail was a scam and conduit to sponsor APC period....Cross Rivers awarded the same Monorail contract to the same company for less than half of what AMAECHI awarded yet CRS have completed theirs....put that to your head "ERASER" [/s] Very sensless and unintelligent rant. |

The question I'll like to ask is if according to Pro GEJ newspaper (i.e The Guardian) the project commenced about 7yrs ago (i.e 2009), was GEJ in power in 2009? You need to understand that these wailers are dumb village illustrates. |

[s] yungmin: In October 2009, Yaradua of blessed memory was already near his grave mumu. When I see these Buharist talk, I see a people who love injustice and lack of fairness to everyone. GEJ opened up the Kano-Lagos line, Port Harcourt - Makurdi line, port Harcourt - Aba - Enugu line and constructed the Abuja-Kaduna line to an advanced stage. Mind you, there is still an intracity rail line within Abuja that was executed up to 60% completion level before Jonathan left office. The whole idea was to get the old tracks running while starting the process of replacing them with standard gauge line and the Abuja-Kaduna route happened to be the pilot scheme. Remember there is still a coaster rail line connecting Calabar and many of the States in the Niger Delta to Lagos. That project had been conceptualized and designed waiting for construction to take off. I work in an engineering consulting firm and I can tell you that the design stages of these projects can gulp up to one year and more so, it is much harder to conceptualize a project than simply going to site to execute same. The average white man detest being lied to no matter how small the lie may be; but the situation in Nigeria especially among those who claim to be learned is that the APC lied and decieve them with various propaganda against the previous admin to win their hearts and after more than a year after, they are finding the truth but they seem not to be outraged for being deceived. I see people bringing Obasanjo into the picture then I ask; for 8yrs OBJ was president, did we hear he commissioned or revive any of our old rail lines? If he did, GEJ wouldn't have bothered doing the older ones first before starting the new ones. It was the Goodluck Jonathan administration that brought railway transportation back into the lips of Nigerians. It hitherto was an unknown vocabulary in our dicco. The truth is, Buhari and APC has sown a very bitter seed and bad precedents in the manner an opposition party should go about winning election. From the issue of subsidy, power sector, roads, railway, etc all they said about the previous admin has proven to be false. In his maiden speech, the Fashola said the transmission company of Nigeria had over 142 projects running which were all over 50% completed and some Nigerians sitting at home still don't understand that GEJ was actually doing a lot when he was there. For me, a leader like Buhari with all his dollard propagandist politicians is what Nigerians deserve. How so true is the saying that a people can only get the kind of leaders they deserve. Goodluck Jonathan was just too civil, polite and well intentioned to be Nigeria's president [/s] Was your lazy, crooked and incompetent stealing is not corruption uncle the president in 2009 and did he signed the contract for that project...? |

Buhari is northernizing Nigeria and only ipob can see it. It is only ipob that buy food and other items at highly expensive rate. It is only ipob that lose their jobs. It is only ipob that experience salary cut. it is only ipob that experience consistent power failure. When will you people stop being insensitive? wadetaw202: Well, I saw Yoruba people among those thanking GEJ in that screenshot, except Yorubas are also "frustrated ipob yoots
And why do you always think anybody supporting gej must be an ipob member? That is very myopic and unreasonable. I am Yoruba and I know buhari is a failure. He is a president of the north with a northern agenda. Only the very blind will not see this.
And we all know things were cheap when gej was president. Despite hardship, rice was selling for 300 and the price actually reduced to 260 under Jonathan. But since Daura President became president, the price has almost doubled. I bought it at 450 few days ago. You know it that buhari is a poor economy manager. He knows nothing about economy and his medieval type of governance is always associated with hardship (1984 comes to mind), but yuou are too hypnotised to agree.
And what were you trying too say? Are you trying to say your buhari started the project when he became president?
You can't deceive us; we know it was started by GEJ. They are all ipobs masquerading with Yoruba names and they do this all the time, even here on NL. All the Yoruba monikers on NL are ipobs. like the clown below called AkinEgba in the same discussion about ipobs claiming Yoruba names on the internet to spew rubbish..

Igbos have more than proven that they can do without nigeria. They were given 20 pounds and they used it to rebuild their crumbled cities. They are even ranked best in all indices of development by the UN in 2016.
Ndigbo need to just focus on their core survival interest and forget about including people that will accuse them of land grabbing tomorrow. You can do without Nigeria, but from the sorry state of your socially and economically depressed and unproductive region and also the fact that you have to leave your states and moved to other parts of Nigeria for survival, and the fact that you are yet to leave other parts of Nigeria and move back to your villages to prove that you can do without Nigeria means you are either delusional, lying to yourself or just talking out od the side of your neck.. You can not do without Nigeria. |

ohzee: Lol. I truly cannot because I don't really care. All politicians are the same. I do remember a lot of projects mentioned during FEC meetings. I just want this govt to start something for crying out loud. Even FERMA patch patch of roads was better than nothing. You get? But what do I know? I am neither a wailer nor a zombie. I am not APC, neither am I PDP. All the federal contractors walked off their construction sites because the previous administration budgeted funds for the roads every year and refused to pay the contractors. But today, all the contractors are back on the job and we've seen many pictures of contractors working. Many power projects are back on track. I see suffering and poverty in my work place daily and it breaks my heart. I don't know if I am making any sense sha. But we can't keep making excuses for these politicians. This is not the first time crude oil price has dropped or our foreign reserves dropped, but I have been around for a long time and I haven't seen the kind of hopelessness that exists today in the common man. Nigerians sat quietly without any objection when previous governments reaped windfall off oil sales and looted every kobo, bought mansions, private jets and luxury SUVs, they did not complain, but they cluelessly forgot that once the windfall stops, it's going to be nothing but rainy seasons and hardship. We did not prepare for rainy season, we did not diversify, we did not invest in infrastructure, $20 billion power funds was stolen so we are still in darkness and so on and so on. My point is, when you don't prepare for tomorrow, you will suffer tomorrow. What took 55 years to destroy can not be fixed in 1 year. Be realistic with your expectations. |

Buhari hails “Chief Amaechi” for Abuja railway completion
https://media.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/2016/07/President-Muhammadu-Buhari-commissioning-the-Abuja-Kaduna-Railway-2.jpg.pagespeed.ce.VvgiDnZs9k.jpg
Protocol
I am delighted to be here today to commission the Abuja – Kaduna railway track and flag-off the Abuja-Kaduna train services (Passengers & Freight) on Nigeria’s first ever Standard Gauge Rail track to go into operation. This project was conceived by a previous administration, started by the last government and I am pleased to complete and commission it.
It is on record that between 1963 and early ‘80s, Nigeria had a vibrant rail system which conveyed agricultural and livestock and solid mineral resources to Lagos and Port Harcourt sea ports from where they are exported to other parts of the world. It is our vision and hope that those good old days will soon be back with us and indeed in a more prosperous way with the restoration of rail transport system which today’s occasion symbolises.
The construction of the Abuja-Kaduna Standard Gauge rail track commenced in 2009 and happily, sixteen years after, we are on the threshold of presenting to Nigerians a Standard Gauge Railway Train Service that will be safe, fast and reliable. The Abuja-Kaduna train service will provide the much needed alternative transport link between the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State, a corridor which has a huge potential for industries, agricultural activities and a growing labour force.
The Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Amaechi and his team have put great efforts in the last few months to ensure the successful completion of this project under this Administration. Completion and Commissioning of this project is indeed in keeping with our vision of bringing about the desired change to make life easier for the generality of Nigerians through the development and provision of the necessary social and physical infrastructure.
In this regard, I wish to assure Nigerians that most State capitals and major commercial and production centres will be linked with railway system as a way of bringing about rapid socio-economic development and improving the quality of life of the Nigerians and promoting social & regional integration.
Furthermore, I wish to also reassure Nigerians that due attention will be placed on pursuing the 25-Year Strategic Railway Master Plan which is aimed at rehabilitating the existing 3,505km narrow gauge rail line and developing and constructing new standard gauge rail lines across the country.
As we celebrate the symbolic return of rail service today I wish to reiterate the commitment of this Administration to pursue with greater vigour and determination rehabilitation and construction of other rail lines including the major Lagos-Calabar and Kano-Lagos lines.
As we get down to work, I look forward to flagging off many more lines outlined in our transport policy programme.
Thank you, and safe journey to all our travellers.
