brownlord: Vote him out sir, we all need a change, but remember, both parties have same corrupt politicians, is GEJ the first to give presidential pardon, who are the crooks? APC members that decamped to PDP, are they crooks in APC? kwakwaso sponsored some group to pilgrims and do not same to Christians, what is that sir? How is he promoting tribalism and religious intolerance, becos he's a christian? do we complain when a muslim president goes sitting down in mosque?

Only about 19 security men where killed November 1999, before the then president invaded Odi village with military men to bring down every moving living and non living thing, today, solder's are killed everyday and when the military record success some group called Norther Elders, ACF with support of Amnesty international will shout genocide. If there is a better way to handle the situation up north please suggest.
We don't elect leaders to sit around and do nothing or make things worse because of the past, we vote for and elect them to make it better.

Giving your boss at work lazy and silly excuses about past employees and their shortcomings as the reason for your own inaction and incompetence means automatic firing?

You do what people elect you to do and what you swore oath to do, not sit around moaning and groaning about the past and ridiculous excuses. This is what lay and incompetent people like GEJ do.

brownlord: If all this you said are true, foreign reserve increasing, jobs etc, i wonder why we are still where we are today, so for the past 38 years, GEJ is the reason you have external debt, zero employment etc, and boko haram started yesterday right?

It depends on when you where born, i will take you serious. How old plz?
Nigerians were not oblivious about their past problems when they voted for Jonathan to make it better, but instead, he made it worse many times over.

Nigerians didn't vote for Jonathan to add more debt and borrow to finance even his own government and also to fight common rag tag terrorists

Nigerians didn't vote for Jonathan to pardon crooks, convicts and corrupt elements.

Nigerians didn't vote for Jonathan to surround himself with and hire corrupt crooks under EFCC investigations to top government positions.

Nigerians didn't vote for Jonathan to tell them that stealing is not corruption or that corrupt is just their perceptions..

Nigerians didn't vote for Jonathan to promote tribalism and religious intolerance with his foolish and irresponsible utterances..

Nigerians did't vote for Jonathan to leave them unprotected for terrorists to blow into pieces everyday without the so called commander in chief lifting a finger.

Nigerians didn't vote for Jonathan to take orders from a little girl from Pakistan before attending to the needs and safety of our missing school girls and the same school girls he recklessly and irresponsibly refused to rescue.

The man is just a very cruel, mean spirited and horrible human being..

But according to Jona's military, they've located the girls?

Mr. President, you have ceaselessly compared yourself to the great leaders of our time, including US President Barack Obama. But do you think Obama would have refused to visit the parents of these abducted school girls if the abduction had occurred in the US? Do you think Obama, as Commander-in-Chief, would have refused to visit his troops in the front line of the anti-terror fight as you have done?

Do you think, Mr. President, that a band of rogue elements like Boko Haram would have restricted Obama’s movement within his own country as they have done to you? No true and caring President will ever fail to visit the sites of disasters and offer solace to his compatriots
This is what the useless, weak and incompetent man they call president in Nigerian doesn't get.

1. Lagos is what it is and so it shall remain till there are credible governance and socio economic changes are effected at the federal level and other states in Nigeria.

2. Lagos is basically bearing the burden from failures at the federal level and poor economic conditions in other states.

3. Regardless of Fashola's efforts, it's absolutely impossible for the Lagos state government to keep infrastructural pace with the ever increasing and over population especially after decades of rot and neglect.

4. We'll see meaningful changes once the metro rail, eko water ferry and cable car system transpires, but over population and lack of resources to keep up remains insurmountable since you need more and more money for schools, roads, bridges, water, civil service, vendor and utility payments and other social services.

And that is why you really need one to tell you that a well constructed temporary bridge needs not to fail under worst condition of loading. Since you have failed to address the issue I don't think I need to join issues with people who dont have sanctity for human lives. For your information many lives were lost a couple of weeks ago on the first failed temporary bridge. This same government you are supporting reconstructed it until it failed again! Lives are involved in any design failure be it temporary or permanent. Don't you get it?

Walelavender: Do I need to contest your 'well' presented projects Mr PA? Did I insult the personality of the Governor who got my vote in 2011? Were lives not lost couple of weeks ago when the pedestrian bridge failed? Could there have been casualties if the re-constructed one had failed during the day yesterday? Is the definition of a bridge not a structure carrying a road or a path across a river or an obstacle? If my post is really giving you a headache won't you have to bare it since you were paid to do this? Answer all these questions with a deep sense of responsibility. Goodnite
Quit deceiving yourself.

Deep sense of responsibility dictates that you honestly and accurately present and title your thread, not to mislead or misrepresent.

I don't have to be anybody's PA or get paid to highlight your deceptions and crookedness.

And unlike you and your self professed love and soft spot for GEJ, I have no love or soft spot for anybody.

One man's good work and governance doesn't start and end with a makeshift bridge, fact remains that he not only built more bridges in the history of that environment, he built the best in that state and the first to be constructed by any civilian administration in the state.

makeitplain: I can't believe that any same person can be defending such a monumental failure as Ajimobi most especially as far as Apete bridge is concerned. To all those castigating the OP as if is attempting to lie, if u don't live in Ibadan or specifically Apete u have no sensible basis to say so. The sequence of events as far as Apete bridge is concerned is everywhere on the internet and newspapers, why not go and investigate 1st?

A bridge collapsed since 2011 and the bridge is still under construction in 2014 and some ppl are expecting the Apete residents to be grateful to God and Ajimobi for a promised unfilfilled? This guy Ajimobi campaigned to Apete ppl, he went there in 2010 and promised them that he will fix the bridge immediately he gets to office if they vote him in but now the bridge is yet unfixed. So do they not have the right to consider Ajimobi a failure in the face of so many lives that the non construction of the bridge had already claimed?

After the 1st collapse of the make shift bridge, many lives were lost and Ajimobi went and made another makeshift wooden bridge. He went there truly with news people and a lot of political entourage and started making political statement, trying to defend his failure to construct the main bridge. He promised them trhat the main bridge will be completed and opened for use in September. Lets see if he will make it or not. The problem is every Nigerians are now politicians even those who are not politicians still think with political sentiment with little or no reality in their reasoning.

What is most unfortunate is that Ajimobi decided to politicize the misfortune of Apete ppl by 1)Blaming the PDP 2)trying to flip things around to his political advantage. He does this by diverting a few Ajumose buses to convey ppl from that area through a very long alternative route. The buses provided can not even cater for 1% of commuters in that community as its very heavily populated. But our governor immediately bombarded the media with his propaganda as usual via repeated jingles on state and private radio and the B.C.O.S TV that Apete ppl now enjoy "free ride" his government cares for the ppl bla bla bla. This angers Apete ppl more because majority of them had never even gotten anywhere near the bus. But they hear on radio that they are enjoying free ride. Its ridiculous. Using their pains to campaign. Its all counter productive as Ajimobi himself must at this point know deep inside that he can't make a 2nd term in office. It is so not possible.
You register on the 4th of July and all your 15 posts since are all anti Ajomobi so what else is new? You registered specifically to talk trash about Ajomobi and promote worthless and useless Akala?

Save yourself the headache and just vote against Ajomobi, your vote he wont miss because it was never his.

Walelavender: Lol. I don't stand to gain anything here. Could you please quote where my allegiance has been credited to the government at the centre? I am entitled to express my opinion and if you don't see anything palatable about that then you ignore. Why not address the issue of the submerged bridge rather than insult. How much were you paid? #team good governancea#
1. Having a soft spot for caries more weight than pledging allegiance because soft spots connotes love and affection beyond allegiance..

2. What issue exactly do you want addressed because your dubious and deceptive thread title remains ambiguous and crooked.

3. Your thread says Apete bridge collapse again, but Apete bridge is still under construction and what collapsed was a makeshift or temporary bridge.

4. Talking about governance, Ajomobi built more bridges in that state than any other past state administrator and the development, progress and investments in Ibadan with man many name brands remains unrivaled.

5. Ajimobi built the Secretariat/Bodija bridge.

6. Ajomobi built Ogbere Babanla bridge

7. Ajomobi built Olomi bridge.

8. Ajomobi built Ayeye Bridge

9. Ajomobi built Osoro River bridge

10. Ajomobi built Alaadorin, Sakutu bridge

11. Ajomobi built Omowunmi-Olorunsogo bridge

12. Simeon Adebo-Adeyi-Awolowo Road bridge

13. Ajomobi built Mokola-Cele-Baracks Junction bridge

14. Ajomobi built Mokola flyover bridge

Nollywood stars under fire over visit to Jonathan - The Punch

Nollywood actors and actresses, under the aegis of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, have come under heavy criticisms for their visit to President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday.

A delegation of the AGN, led by its National President, Ibinabo Fiberesima, had, during the visit to the Presidential Villa, conferred on Jonathan the award of the Grand Patron of their association.

On the delegation were Mercy Aigbe, Chidi Mokeme, Monalisa Chinda, Stephanie Linus, Fred Amata, Joseph Benjamin, Desmond Elliot, and Victor Osuagwu, among others.

During the visit, Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, was busy posting pictures of the actors and actresses who were seen applauding Jonathan while they beamed with smiles.

But the visit and subsequent conferment of the Grand Patron on Jonathan has drawn the ire of some Nigerians who describe it as an embarrassment to the masses who patronise their movies.

Fans of many of the Nollywood stars accused them of falling out of tune with the yearnings of the masses by celebrating what they call mediocrity and government ineptitude with their visit.

The concerned Nigerians, who dropped comments on blogs and various online platforms, said they were shocked to learn of the visit.

They said the visit would have been worth it if it had led to a frank talk with the President on the massacres in the North Eastern region, corruption and state of underdevelopment.

An enraged visitor on stelladimokokorkus.com, Jay Moore, described the Nollywood stars as “sellouts” and “clowns.”

Moore said, “They are clowns, as no right thinking person familiar with the current Nigerian situation in the last four years will make such a visit. I am surprised. Nigerian youths are the future of this country and the Nollywood people should please stop being sellouts. GEJ is a non-performing leader.

“They should join other Nigerians in saying, ‘No’ to the suffering; our countrymen and women should not be made to face more years of epileptic power supply, insecurity and high youth unemployment.”

An anonymous reader on lindaikeji..com described the visit as a subtle way of endorsing the President for a second term in office. He is of the opinion that they should have asked the President to be more transparent in his administration.

“Look at all of them… They are a bunch of ingrates. They’ve never come out to stand for the poor masses or challenge the President about the missing $20bn oil revenue, which has yet to be remitted into the Federation Account. But they all went, knowing it was an avenue to line their pockets. Then in 2015, GEJ would use that as a reference point when campaigning for re-election. A bunch of funny actors and actresses,” the reader added.

Another reader of the blog, with the name Samorano, wrote, “They are unwise. They are supposed to be the weapon that will fight the corrupt government but, unfortunately, they are fast becoming part of the bad eggs that we have in this country. I see these actors and actresses as covetous individuals.”

On Twitter, Idris Ogunbadejo, who described the visit as a “charade,” said only hungry individuals would attempt to redefine governance for selfish reasons.

“The charade has started. Some beasts in human skins will soon re-define good governance, leadership and accountability! Hungry individuals,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, a former presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party, Dele Momodu, has said he expects more self-serving groups to pay solidarity visits to the President as the 2015 general elections draw near.

In a Twitter post, he wrote, “As President Jonathan receives the Actors Guild of Nigeria today, many more associations are expected to take their turn.”

Another Twitter user, Maryam Abubakar, also took a swipe at the group, saying their visit amounted to “shame.”

She also berated Abati for inundating the Twittersphere with pictures of the visit amidst renewed killings of dozens of Nigerians in the North Eastern part of the country.

In a series of tweets, she wrote, “You, Dr. Abati, should also be ashamed of posting these pictures at a sensitive time like this, with hundreds of people being killed! It is painful! Not a word from the Presidency about what happened in Borno and Adamawa states. But the President is posing for cameras all over.

Twenty girls abducted, over 100 people killed. Yet, no word from our President. Just photos of him smiling from one camera to the other. Jonathan makes it so difficult for people to like or even respect him. How insensitive can a President be?

You are right, but unfortunately, the man refused and wont rescue the girls, the girls are permanently condemned to marry and have babies with BH simply because he refused to negotiate their release and also refused to use force to have them released.

So, of what use is any meeting with this mean spirited and I don't care president?

All we need from this man is action and getting back our girls, not some silly meeting and photo opportunity..

In fact, do we really need a grown man, a father with his own kids and the president of a whole country to be told by a 17 year old girl old from another country to do his job or to show compassion 3 months after the girls were kidnapped?

Have we forgotten that before then, he was a free man when a court in Asaba discharged and acquitted him of all charges? Have we forgotten that his people resisted his arrest severally and helping escape? There have been no point in the history of Nigeria - unless I can't remember- when people are not protected and defended by their tribes when ever a corruption case is brought against them.
Ibori is in jail today not because of GEJ, but because of UK's determination to defend, uphold their laws and jail criminals. In fact, GEJ tried to have him sent back to Nigeria instead of facing trial in the UK, but we know what he was trying to do, he was trying to have him returned to Nigeria and give him a state pardon just like he did with Alams who is still an international criminal and fugitive and also all the other crooks under his own EFCC investigation he wont prosecute but instead reward with juicy government positions. The governor elect in Ekiti he supported with federal resources and manpower is still under EFCC investigation.

GEJ is corrupt and celebrates and proves it all the time with his statements, his appointments, his body language, the kind of people he surrounds himself with and utterances like stealing is not corruption and that corruption in Nigeria is our perception and not reality.

Fashola is only doing this because of that video released 2 days ago. A responsible government will not hide such security breaches from the people who need to be more vigilant and pro-active.
And we still live in a country where the irresponsible government we hired and pay to protect us failed to prevent the same bombing and security breach in the first place or even prevent Nigerians from getting slaughtered or blown into pieces everyday.

Hundreds of girls are still missing and so far, the same incompetent, corrupt and irresponsible people we hired and pay to protect our school children not only failed to protect them, but also failed to rescue their own school children.

How responsible was your president when he absolved MEND by saying MEND did not carry out the independence day bombing before any investigation, before any forensic activities and even while the blood of innocent Nigerians was still wet on the ground?

How responsible was your president who after scores of Nigerians perished in a bomb blast and hundreds of school children kidnapped went dancing in Kano?

How responsible was your president who even after the blast still refused to protect the blast location and in effect allowed BH to bomb the place all over again with needless loss of souls?

How responsible is your corrupt and irresponsible president who still can not get 1 single CCTV in his own FCT neighborhood working after flushing down almost $500 million Chinese loan that we still have to pay back down the drain or into his and his friends pocket?
