A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday granted an injunction stopping lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] from reconvening the House of Representatives from recess. Justice Ahmed Ramat Muhammed said the PDP legislators cannot take a decision to reconvene the House at least until Friday when the case would be heard. Justice Muhammed ruled that all parties to the suit must maintain the status quo until Friday, November 7. The ruling came after members of the APC in the House filed a motion on notice asking the court to stop the Federal Government, the PDP and their agents from reconvening the House until December 3. Lawmakers of the APC, led by House Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, had gone to court after they suspected that PDP lawmakers were planning to reconvene the House in defiance of its leadership. The Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, had after defecting to the APC on October 28 adjourned the House to December 3. In his ruling, Justice Muhammed also asked the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, and the APC to serve the defendants with the motion on notice and ordered the defendants to come and show cause why all the reliefs being sought should not be granted. The APC had three days ago alleged that President Goodluck Jonathan was plotting, alongside PDP lawmakers, to reconvene the House in violation of laid down procedures. “We reject this meddling in the affairs of the Legislature especially given the resolution of President Jonathan and his close advisers yesterday at their meeting to ask the Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha to unlawfully reconvene the House before the adjourned date,” the party had said in a statement by its spokesperson, Lai Mohammed. “May we remind President Goodluck Jonathan that under the House Rules, only a resolution by all principal officers of the House and not even the Speaker of the House can reconvene the House before the adjourned date not to talk of the Deputy Speaker.” The spokesperson of the House, Zakari Mohammed, had on Sunday also said the lawmaking body cannot cut short its recess without the express approval of its speaker, Mr. Tambuwal. PREMIUM TIMES and other media had reported moves by loyalists of President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to reconvene the House before its scheduled resumption date of December 3. An early resumption is reportedly being proposed to execute the removal of Mr. Tambuwal as Speaker of the PDP-majority House. After Mr. Tambuwal defected to the opposition, his security details were controversially withdrawn. In his statement, Mr. Mohammed, clarified the legal procedure to reconvene the House before December 3. The current impasse in the House of Representative over the removal of the security aides of Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal took a new dimension on Monday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) members of the lower chamber hinted that they have catalogued offences committed by 'a higher officer of the Federal Republic' that could warrant impeachment. This is believed to be an allusion to President Goodluck Jonathan. This is as the legislators swore that no coalition or conspiracy can unseat the Speaker. The legislators, who had filed a case in an Abuja High Court seeking to bar any attempt at convening the House before its Dec. 3 date of resumption, told correspondents that the legislature is not subservient to the president. It hurts so much... Why does it hurt so much? Loving someone shouldn't feel this way but that's how i have been feeling for the past two months.. He is a year younger than me but that's not the issue, it never was. He made his way into my life and it was all fun and good but whenever we had a fight he never tried to see my point.. We never talked about our issues and its all piled up now.. We had a fight a day before and he isn't talking to me.. Why can't he just see through me.. I thought he'd understand.. He acts like that he doesn't care at all.. None of my friends know about it.. I can't cry myself to sleep every night.. But i love him and he just doesn't see it... Its weird how easy it is for someone who couldn't go a day without seeing me now not wanting to talk to me and wants to be left alone. ![]() |
As the battle between the Nigerian military and the outlawed Islamic sect, Boko Haram, intensified in Adamawa State, some Army officers have accused their counterparts in the Air Force for bombarding checkpoints manned by Army. One of the soldiers, who spoke on condition of anonymity to our correspondent on Monday in Yola, said “ We are 17 in number, manning checkpoints on the Mubi side, when an Air Force plane drop bombs on us. We all fled the area. Up until now, I cannot say where my colleagues are, because we ran in different directions. “I managed to come to Yola through Cameroon, after trekking for some kilometres. I was assisted by some good Samaritan.” Residents of Hong said an Air Force helicopter also dropped bombs on some residential houses in Shuwa village near the hometown of Nigerian Ambassador to Tunisia, Ambassador James Barka. Meanwhile, as part of measures to contain the level of insecurity, the Adamawa State Government has banned the use of motorcycles in seven local government areas with immediate effect. The affected local governments are Numan, Demsa, Girei, Song, Gombi, Hong and Fufore. A statement by the Director, Press and Public Affairs, Government House, Yola, Mr. P.P. Elisha, said, “Security agents have been directed to ensure enforcement of the policy.” The ousted regime of Murtala Nyako had banned the use motorcycles in Yola North, Yola South, Mubi and Michika and Madagali Local Government areas. Security situation had deteriorated in the northern parts of Adamawa State with Mubi, the second largest town in the state, falling under the control of Boko Haram last Wednesday. Source: Punch |
Several people were injured when two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Eastern Obolo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom engaged each other in confrontations during Saturday’s ward congress. The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Gabriel Ochong, who confirmed the clashes when he spoke to newsmen in Uyo, however said no one was killed. Mr. Ochong said if any of the victims had died, the police, who took them to hospital, would have informed him. “I don’t think there was any person that died. I was in Four Lane myself. “The problem started when two factions from Eastern Obolo used wood to hit one another. “The injured were bleeding and the police had to take them to hospital. “If anything had happened to anyone of them, the police who took them to the hospital would have informed me. “However, at the time I left my house for that place, I was even told that two people had been killed, only for me to get there and found out that the people who engaged themselves in brawl only sustained injury. “No position is worth the life of any Nigeria, let the election be peaceful so that the will of people will prevail,” he said. The state Governor, Godswill Akpabio, however, expressed satisfaction at the turnout of people. He said that the turnout was impressive and promised that every aspirant would be given level playing ground to seek elective offices. My girlfriend visited me yesterday without any notification. At first when she called me she was at the gate, I thought she was joking not until I also heard the sound of the bell.. Believe you me, I told her to return to where she was coming from cos I wasn't expecting her . I was at home all alone playing my favourite game and I didn't plan for her visit.. Though I have no regret about it cos I already told her about what I like and dislike. |
A former FCT Minister, Malam Nasiru el-Rufai on Friday obtained the APC nomination forms to contest for the 2015 governor election in Kaduna State, with an assurance that his aspiration was not out of desperation. He told officials of the party and supporters at the APC State Secretariat in Kaduna that he was ready to offer credible leadership if given the chance. According to him, he is not in the contest to enrich himself or witch hunt anybody but to bring about the required transformation in the state. He called for unity among party members and assured the people of his support to whoever emerged as the party's flag bearer. El-Rufai said the state needed salvation from long years of misrule and assured that the APC would offer credible and people-oriented leadership. Earlier, the State Chairman of APC, Mr Bala Bantex, said the party's leadership would be fair and just to all contestants. He appealed to the party supporters to conduct themselves with decorum and unite to ensure victory for the party in the 2015 general elections. Source: Daily Times. |
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has stated that he is ready to tackle any Nigerian who takes delight in disparaging his principal, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. The presidential aide said he was tired of tolerating “misguided jokers” who continue to bring their President, government and its institutions down. In a series of messages posted on his Twitter page, he stated that there were many good things about Jonathan and his government that Nigerians should be proud of and showcase for the world to see. Boasting that he would deal with those who say “rubbish, insult my principal or disparage my country,” he added that he “can’t stand lack of patriotism or respect for an elected President.” He accused Jonathan’s critics of failing to see beyond their nose, adding that the majority of them are “obviously handicapped” on issues relating to nationhood. Claiming that Americans do not abuse President Barack Obama like Nigerians allegedly do their President, Okupe described Jonathan’s critics as “shameless, unpatriotic and ignorant.” According to him, fifth columnists who believe that there is nothing good to say about Nigeria “can go jump into the bar beach.” “Some are shameless, unpatriotic and ignorant jokers. What I say is based on the facts that I have. If you feel that there is nothing good to say about your country you can go jump into the bar beach. If bar beach is too open for them, they can try Lekki beach or Kuramo waters. Nigeria will definitely not miss you. “Nigeria conquered Ebola. But for foreign commendations, many would have reacted in denial. They say we are the largest economy in Africa, yet many still bellyache. Some people should bury their heads in the sand like ostrich, Nigeria will move forward without you. “If you talk out of pure hate for your government and out of cerebral emptiness, we have a duty to help you. US citizens do not abuse, or disparage their nation. What is intellectual in ridiculing your nation from an ill-informed point of view? Meanwhile, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the opposition All Progressives Congress, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that the majority of Nigerians “must be very angry” with the way and manner the President has been carrying on with the business of governance. The Kano State governor wrote on his official Twitter page that religious and cultural differences should not deter Nigerians from voting out the Jonathan administration. “We must be very angry with what is happening in our country; we must be very angry that an inept government is presiding over our affairs. I therefore call on all Nigerians to unleash their anger on their ballot papers by voting PDP out of power in 2015. “Religious and cultural differences should not deter us from seeking good leadership at the centre and indeed at all levels – a leadership that will address our current security and economic challenges and make our unity stronger,” Kwankwaso said. Burkina Faso’s army seized power on Thursday as it dissolved the parliament and government to form a transitional body, to protest against President Blaise Compaore’s plan to extend his 27-year-rule. “A transitional body will be put in place in consultation with all parties. A return to the constitutional order is expected in no more than 12 months,” the country’s army chief Nabere Honore Traore told reporters in the capital Ouagadougou. The military also announced a curfew from 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (1900 GMT) to 6:00 a. m. on Friday (0600 GMT). Massive demonstrations were witnessed on Thursday after the government urged parliamentarians to amend the constitution, which could enable Compaore to run for a third term in 2015. Protesters on Thursday morning broke into the country’s parliament. Soldiers ransacked parliament building and set it ablaze, before heading toward the public broadcaster to make a declaration. In an exclusive interview with Channels Television’s Chukwuma Onyebusi, the President said that the event meant it was time “to do more”. He believes in this party. He is living by example”.

If you are a person who wants to be in a relationship, have you thought about why? In order to create conscious love relationships, we need to understand the motives and needs which now cause us to form relationships. We enter into relationships for the same reason we do everything else in our lives: because we are motivated by our needs. We seek out others in order to fulfill our unfulfilled needs. Alone we feel empty and isolated. We hope to complete ourselves through our relationships. But seriously, most people do jump into a relationship for no reason. I can say 80% of guys goes into a relationship because of sex. 50-60% of lady goes into a relationship because of financial assistant( Money). Are you in any relationship at the moment? If your answer is yes, does the relationship has any meaning to you? if not, it is either you adjust or stay away from that ugly relationship. |

So this past year I've been doing my best to grow and break out of my shell and meet new people. I'm still a painfully shy person, but at least now I have some confidence. Enough confidence to be happy with my life single or not. But I'm at a point now where I know I need to start dating. And I know I can be successful at it. The frustrating part is that it's such a long and drawn out process. Finding the right place to go, or the right words to say, or the right times and places to touch her, all for someone that is in all likelihood seeing three other guys ahead of you anyway. Realistically, I only have time to schedule one date a week anyway. Assuming that I was actually able to meet one new completely random single person every week to ask for a date (which I have yet to figure out how to do), it seems like with all the odds stacked against us, it could take months or years before I find someone that is actually worth sticking around for. Are normal people this patient? Does everyone really go through this? |
Olubunmi Nasiru wrote; "It's quite disappointing to note that real issues and ideas have been relegated to the background in this buildup towards the 2015 elections. It is all about Buhari, Jonathan and Atiku. Their followers work themselves up to a frenzy while discussing their cult heroes, chanting rhetorics and hurling invectives at people with opposing views. The politicians are also guilty, having no clear-cut plans but possessing poisoned arrows of jibes and accusations, which they shoot at each other. Only Atiku has distanced himself in this regard, penning down some impressive workable plans for the various sectors of the economy and improved welfare and infrastructure. No one trusts him, though. Your guess is as good as mine. After being a vice president for 8 years and a politician for longer than that, how come his grey matter just started functioning at the tail end of 2014? Well, here I am discussing people. It's almost inevitable. Call me a small mind or anything you want. Rather than support a particutlar candidate blindly, I'll rather analyze their individual strengths and weaknesses. I'll rather look at their track records, deal with hardcore facts, ignore copy and paste journalism and look for a forum to table my demands and expectations. Else, elections come and go, leaving the old problems behind" ... |
I am in a friendship right now that is very complicated. I have been hanging out with him for a very long time. We talked on the phone, online and in person every day for several months. We both get jealous of each other being with a potential other person and his body language signifies that he likes me more than a friend. All my friends and his friends all say that he acts as though there is feelings between us that we don't even have to say anything but they know we have a "connection." He centers all his activities on what I do every weekend and does everything that every guy will do when they like someone more than a friend. Problem is he tells everyone that asks him what is going on that we are just friends and that's all he sees me as. I have, during this time, fallen in love with him. I don't want to lose our friendship but I want to be with him more than just a friend! What am I missing? |
The former Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, has begun mobilisation of the stakeholders’ support for her ambition to contest the Anambra North Senatorial District seat in 2015 general elections. Addressing supporters in Onitsha on Friday, Oduah said she would provide effective representation and credible voice for the zone. The zone comprises seven local government areas in Anambra, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Oyi, Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Ogbaru. She said that the zone would be restored to its pride of place where the people’s creativity and entrepreneurial skills would top her priority, if voted into power. She assured the zone of effective representation and a credible voice. Oduah, who had already picked the nomination form, announced her campaign team members, including Chief Okwudili Uzoka, Mrs Stella Odife, Dr Alex Obiogbolu and Chief Basil Ejidike. Uzoka, Chairman of the Campaign team, lamented that the zone had suffered poor representation at the federal level. He expressed the confidence that Oduah’s record and achievements had helped to restore the pride of the people. Oduah will battle Sen. Joy Emodi and Sen. Margery Okadigbo, the incumbent and widow of former Senate President, Dr Chuba Okadigbo, for the PDP ticket. Source: (NAN) |
The governorship ambition of the immediate past Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, received a major boost yesterday as the First Lady, Patience Jonathan endorsed his ambition, saying the former Minister is ripe to lead Rivers State. Mrs. Jonathan, who paid a solidarity visit to Wike at his Abuja residence said she was giving him her blessing because the former Minister proved himself while in the federal cabinet. According to the First Lady, who has always been suspected to be the pillar behind the former Minister, her visit was to give the governorship aspirant the blessing of a mother. She said: “I am giving you the blessing of a mother. The blessing a mother gives to a beloved son. Go and you will conquer. He is a Minister that delivered while he served in the cabinet. Wike proved himself and is ready to serve in a higher capacity.” She described Wike as a politician who listens and respects, adding that the former Minister obeyed her when she asked him to drop his senatorial ambition in 2011. “You listened to me and dropped your senatorial aspiration. I pray God to protect you, lead you and please go on with your aspiration. “I have handed you (Wike) over to our father, Dr. Peter Odili and the people of Rivers State. You are going to Rivers State for the betterment of all of us and to wipe our tears,” she stated. The First Lady thereafter handed him over Dr. Peter Odilli who was with her on the visit. Wike, in response, assured the First Lady that PDP will win the state in the 2015 elections and also commended her for playing the role of a mother to the people of Rivers State. Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara assured those who were present during the visit that the support of the First Lady was a major boost for the PDP in Rivers State. Those present during the visit included, Senator Adewari Pepple, Evans Bipi, Chief Sergeant Awuse, former Deputy Speaker, Chibudom Nwuche, Chief Austin Opara, former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Executive Director, Finance, Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Ogiri, former Commissioner of Sports, Boma Iyayi and an Ogoni political chieftain, Chief Kenneth Kobani. A renowned Nigerian Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to drop his re-election bid, less than 72 hours after he offered a similar warning to a former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari. In an open letter, similar to the one he wrote Mr. Buhari, Mr. Gumi said President Jonathan has failed as a leader, and stands out as a divisive figure in the country, rather than a unifying rallying point. The letter is posted on his Facebook Page. “You (President Jonathan) have divided the nation gravely on the religious divide,” the cleric said. “My fellow country man, it’s unfortunate that your stand on many issues have made you into a polarizing figure while the exalted office you occupy needs a nationalistic one.” Mr. Gumi argued that a Jonathan leadership beyond May 2015 would be cataclysmic for Nigeria because the segment of Nigeria opposed to his occupation of the presidency are convinced he is negatively involved in the Boko Haram saga. “The natural thing any good leader will do in this situation is to step down for a person all the segments of the nation will have confidence in for their well-being,” the cleric said. “A credible person that will not stir apprehension. The decision is not about your rights but about responsibility.” Mr. Gumi backed his argument with the contents of the famous letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Jonathan. He also based his advice on “responsibility of leadership” and not the legality of the president’s re-election ambition. Read his full post below. MY CANDID ADVICE TO PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN. "Mr. President We have never met despite the fact that we were all born and we lived for more than half a century in this great vast country Nigeria. It’s here we all grew up and were educated and I presume except by divine prudence it’s here that we will all be buried. So what truly matters is the legacy that we will bequest our children and the next generation of Nigerians to come. We will not want it a burnt country with hundreds of thousands dead, maimed or displaced people because of the thoughtlessness and recklessness of its stewardship. Nigeria today is a single railway line with two heavily loaded trains spending towards each other in opposite direction. You’re the driver of the heavier train and please do not think that even a cart on the railway cannot derail you with great catastrophe to humanity. You need to come out of the cocoon and face the reality. Denial of the truth can never solve problems. Mr. President, from what I heard from people who are close to you, is that you are humble with a soft heart. But still humility is never enough for an effective leadership. Leadership is about listening and taking the good advices from people of wisdom not from those that benefit from you or have any agenda other than the unity and progress of this Nation. The mantle of the leadership of this country was given to you under oath. Almost four years ago you swore to protect ‘the interest of the sovereignty, integrity, solidarity, well-being and prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’. You said: ‘ I will not allow my personal interest to influence my official conduct or my official decisions; and ‘I will do right to all manner of people, according to law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will’ Unfortunately, many people including me before God believe you broke some of your oath. I’ll only need to refer you back to the honest open letter advice you were given by your political godfather. You appear more Ijaw than Nigerian. It’s seldom fathers will deceive their children. Yet you never listen. And sadly by your recalcitrance you are dangerously leading this nation to chaos and turmoil that only God knows were it will end. Muslims have officially registered to you on occasions your partiality. Northern groups have complained about your bias. The youth about your neglect. You have divided the nation gravely on the religious divide. Already we heard a call in a church that you are now a saviour. Now, not of Nigeria but the church in Nigeria. With this religious zeal on both sides, each side looking at the wrong people for salvation the nation is heading towards disaster. My fellow country man, it’s unfortunate that your stand on many issues have made you into a polarizing figure while the exalted office you occupy needs a nationalistic one. Surely with the Christian votes and northern PDP followers you can win another election but you will also set the nation into another turmoil because that segment of the nation that rejects you do so because they believe rightly or wrongly you are involved negatively in the Boko Haram Saga. The natural thing any good leader will do in this situation is to step down for a person all the segments of the nation will have confidence with for their well-being. A credible person that will not stir apprehension. The decision is not about your rights but about responsibility. Therefore as you pray in the Holy Land seek for God’s indulgence to show you the light of honor and do the right thing. It’s God’s command that Nigeria stay united and ‘what therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder’. A word of wisdom says: ‘He who consults is never disappointed and he who seeks God’s choice never regret’ so please don’t brush it aside call men of wisdom to advice you too. I for a start, I am hereby candidly advising you to relinquish your presidential ambition because of peace, stability and well being of millions of innocent Nigerians. There are many politicians that can ‘finish’ it on your behalf. The PDP can present Akpabio or Obi or Orji etc. I rest my case here". Stay blessed. Ahmad Gumi Source: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/170017-sheikh-gumi-to-jonathan-youre-divisive-drop-your-2015-reelection-bid.html |
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday in Warri, Delta State said the major problem with Nigeria is wickedness, adding that unless Nigerians change their wicked ways, the country will continue to experience hardship. Oritsejafor, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, spoke in a sermon at a thanksgiving service to mark the 60th birthday of Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State at the First Baptist Church, Mission Road, Warri. The cleric said a lot of Nigerians, because of political gains, have sold their souls to the devil. “There is so much wickedness in our land. Nigeria is the only country where white is turned to black. There are a lot of people who are languishing in prisons for crimes they did not commit. Wickedness is the enemy of this country. But I want to let you know that it will come to an end one day. Wickedness will catch up with you one day, said Oritsejafor. He said: “I feel pain in my heart when I see educated people say they want to go back to the ways of their forefathers. They want to go back to the days of darkness. Darkness holds people in darkness. The black race is the most intelligent on earth but we have failed to maximise our potentials. “Elections are here again and people are going back to serve idols just because of election. Some are burying human heads in their backyards, while some are burying cows and other things in their backyards. These things cannot take you anywhere. Please come back to God and you will be saved.” Pastor Oritsejafor appealed to the wealthy in the society to use their wealth to help the less privileged, saying it is only in doing so that God will shower the individual with more blessings. |
The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday again came under fierce attack from his successor, Ayo Fayose, who accused him of living in opulence while the people of the state wallowed in poverty. Mr. Fayose alleged that his predecessor purchased two beds worth N50 million for himself and his wife in the new Government House he (Fayemi) built. Mr. Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was sworn in as governor of the state last Thursday. He had defeated Mr, Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the June 21 governorship election. On his inauguration day, the new governor had alleged that the former governor left a debt profile of N57 billion. Mr. Fayemi has since debunked that claim, stating that he took N25 billion Bond out of which N14 billion had been paid. The new statement by Mr. Fayose’s Special Assistant on Information and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said while Mr. Fayemi furnished his room with a N30 million bed, that of his wife was bought for N20 million. It said apart from the beds, their toilets and bathrooms cost about N100 million. The statement titled “N3.3bn new Government House Is Fayemi’s Show of Wickedness To Ekiti People,” said nobody would see what the former governor did with the funds he borrowed and be able to hold back tears. “Between Fayemi and his wife, what was spent on their bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms will be in the region of N100m,” the statement said. “How can a responsible government use borrowed funds to provide this kind of luxury for the governor and his family alone in a state where a lot of people cannot afford to feed more than once in a day? “People should ask the former governor what was really wrong with the abandoned governor’s lodge used by his (Fayemi) predecessors?” Mr. Fayose argued that such funds expended on the hilltop edifice should have been used to resuscitate the moribund textile factory in Ado-Ekiti that was turned to lock-up shops to provide employment for our teeming youths? Wondering if Mr. Fayemi was living in that manner of opulence before he became governor or sleeping on a body-massaging bed and bathing in an electric-controlled Jacuzzi, the statement said the former governor could not pay salaries and yet was living in such opulence. It said, “Here is Fayemi, who could not pay workers salaries, owing them two-month salaries before he left. A Fayemi, who out of sheer wickedness refused to pay pensioners N2.4bn pension and gratuities; N400m workers leave bonus, N700m subventions to parastatals and tertiary institutions and remit N2.4bn four months’ cooperative society’s deductions from workers salaries preferring to use N3.3bn borrowed funds to provide luxury for himself, his wife and children alone. This is wickedness!’’ The statement claimed that the governor would prefer to sell the property and use the proceed to provide basic amenities and employment opportunities for the people. The statement also said Mr. Fayemi had planned to purchase a helicopter if he had been voted back to power. “That’s also the reason he (Fayemi) refused to renovate the Governor’s Office, leaving it in a state of disrepair because he knew that he was not going to use the office during his second term,” the statement said. “Also, contract for the maintenance of the property was already awarded for N150m per annum. When we visited the Government House for the first time yesterday, Mr Governor was like; how I wish I can sell off this place or turn it to commercial use? It is simply wicked for a governor to be more interested in this manner of ostentatious comfort at the expense of the people.” The statement wondered “if the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whom Fayemi and his so-called progressives claimed as their role-model, lived in any government house, much less of building an Emperor-like house for himself.” It also asked if the late Adekunle Ajasin, former governor of the old Ondo State, built a monarchical government house for himself or Lateef Jakande, former governor of Lagos State live in any government house? “These are great Yoruba sons, who recorded landmark achievements as premier of the old Western Region and governors of Lagos State and the old Ondo State respectively. “The duo of Ajasin and Jakande were able to impact tremendously on their states because they did not like to waste public funds on the provision of luxury for themselves.” According to the statement, Mr. Fayose, who governed the state between 2003 and 2006, would have preferred not to live in the Government House build by Mr. Fayemi because it was a symbol of oppression. It added, “He(Fayose) will prefer to live where Ekiti people can easily see him, touch him, eat with him and discuss the progress of the state together. “But abandoning it would amount to colossal waste of public funds; but Governor Fayose will not hide himself from the masses.” Source: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/169932-n3-3billion-new-govt-house-youre-wicked-insensitive-fayose-tells-fayemi.html |
All Progressives Congress (APC) governors demanded yesterday an emergency meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan over the cash crisis that is crippling the states. Besides, the governors said at a meeting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, that they had not endorsed any aspirant as their presidential candidate. They supported the emergence of “a consensus candidate or any other candidate in so far as it is in tandem with the party’s internal democracy”. The meeting was attended by Governors Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe), Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers) and Rochas Okorocha (Imo). The governors were worried that allocation from the Federal purse keeps crashing, even as the central government says the country is not broke. Many states, they said, may not be able to pay their workers. “On consensus, our forum is in full support of consensus as one of the ways to produce our presidential candidate or any candidate in the party for as long as it is done with regards to respect for internal democracy. There will be no imposition of candidate in our party”, the chairman of the forum Owelle Okorocha, said, reading the communiqué. He went on: “Our forum has not adopted any candidate, neither has our Governors’ Forum adopted any candidate, but we shall encourage consensus and dialogue within the leadership of the party and aspirants to see how we come up with a candidate but where that is not possible, like true progressives, we shall have free and fair primaries from the APC.” On the dwindling revenue allocation from the federation account, Owelle Okorocha described the situation as “awful”, adding that many of the states might not be able to pay salaries. Said he: “We looked at the dwindling resources of the state coming from FAAC on our monthly allocation, which has made it imperative that most states may not afford to pay salaries as a result of the dwindling resources. “This has become a very serious concern to us as governors and we felt that issues that affect the lives of our people must never be politicised. We refuse to accept that this nation is broke. I thank God that the Federal Government is not broke, that if the nation is not broke, what is due to states as revenue should be paid to the states. This idea of cutting down what should go to states does not in any way promote democracy and democratic dividends and so we as progressive governors do call on the Federal Government to look into the issue of dwindling resources or convince us as to why the states should not get what is due to them. “We do not know why our colleagues in the PDP are not talking of this matter. If they are not talking, it is either they are not affected or somehow they are getting something from the back door, which we do not know. “But if that is not the reason, I think the Presidency or the Federal Government should act quickly on the present ugly situation which this terrible condition of dwindling revenue has caused us by making sure that the states get what is due to them at least to pay the basic salaries of the workers. We also deliberated on the need to continue to pray for Nigeria for the successful 2015 election, which every Nigerian is looking forward to.” On the 2015 general elections, Okorocha said: “We must disappoint those who believe that Nigeria can never have free, fair and credible election by making sure that 2015 shall come to pass and Nigeria will raise its head high among the comity of nations and be one of the countries that have conducted free and fair elections. “It is our firm belief that our party will provide for Nigeria the long-awaited purposeful, visionary leadership, come 2015. So we the APC governors are in full support of the activity of our party and assure Nigerians that we shall provide them a credible presidential candidate that will steer the affairs of this nation in 2015 ". Ever wondered if you were truly in love, or truly in lust? Did you know that falling in love actually happens over time, and the journey from initial attraction to deep romantic love is a predictable course that depends on many different factors? Love is an intense feeling of affection toward another person. It's a profound and caring attraction that forms emotional attachment. On the flip side, lust is a strong desire of a sexual nature that is based on physical attraction. Lust can transform into deep romantic love, but it usually takes time. Two individuals will transform their lust into love when they get to see the whole individual (their strengths and weaknesses) and get past the “fantasy level. |
