Why should I cry when nobody beat me?

I dated a guy a few years ago, at first he appeared funny, charming and friendly. He kept that charade on for awhile until we decided we'd move to his family's house and live together. As soon as that happened, his controlling psychotic self came out. I wasn't allowed to have any friends or even go back home to see my family/friends. I actually had to sneak away while he was still at work to do that. I was naive and just put up with it.... One night we went out drinking to the bar and we got into a fight so bad he was screaming at me, so bad that some other guys in the bar got security to kick him out. I decided I was still going to stay and try enjoy the rest of the night. In any case I get home and all of my belongings are on the lawn and it's raining... I try to go in and start bringing in my things and he starts throwing me around outside. I start running and he actually gets in his car and TRIES TO HIT ME WITH IT! Complete psycho... I dated that?!?!

Boko Haram gunmen stormed a crowded market in Nigeria’s restive northeastern state of Borno, killing several people and carting away food, witnesses said Saturday.

Dressed in military and police uniforms, dozens of insurgents attacked the town of Mainok, 56 kilometres outside Maiduguri, the state capital late Thursday, firing a rocket-propelled grenade and spraying the market with bullets.

The attackers also looted food which they loaded onto trucks abandoned by fleeing traders, witnesses said.

“They struck around 1:30pm (1230GMT) during peak hours by first firing a rocket-propelled grenade at the market before opening fire on traders”, Salman Lawan, a trader who witnessed the carnage told AFP.

“They killed several people in the attack but it is difficult to give a precise figure,” said Lawan who fled to Maiduguri following the attack.



Another trader Modu Kachalla, who gave a similar account, said the insurgents were looking for cash and food.

“They robbed traders of cash and loaded food into trucks they seized at the market before fleeing into the bush,” he said.

“The market was full…when the Boko Haram gunmen attacked which explained the high casualties,” he said.

“The attackers killed many people at the market but it is difficult to give a toll because everybody fled to save their lives,” said Ibrahim Kolo, another witness.

Boko Haram, which has seized swathes of territory in Borno and in neighbouring Yobe and Adamawa states, has been running short of food in the areas they have taken, according to residents.

On Wednesday the insurgents ambushed a truck carrying grain to Maiduguri outside the nearby village of Ngamdu and looted it before setting it on fire, they said.

The news of the attack on the market was slow to emerge due to disruption in phone services in the region on Friday. Telecoms services were only restored on Saturday.

Mainok has suffered repeated attacks by Boko Haram, which wants to impose a hardline Islamic state in the mainly Muslim north.

In February scores were killed there and many homes destroyed by the extremists.

Their insurgency has claimed more than 10,000 lives since 2009 and left more than 700,000 homeless.

I just keep on wondering why people are been banned on this forum. I never had such experience and I don't think I can cos I am mostly hear to read and learn.

Jealousy can creep in when you least expect it and it’s always a signal to look within and discover what’s underneath it. Thinking that it will go away if you ignore it will only prolong your anxiety and challenges.
In fact, jealousy is almost never just about the jealousy itself and what seems to be happening on the surface like your partner flirting with another person. It’s usually about whatever is lurking underneath that needs to be uncovered and dealt with. It might be a broken heart from a previous relationship or it might be poor self esteem, existing for many years.
The first step to changing anything in your life is first to become aware of what you want to change in your life and that you can if you truly are committed to doing it.
You also have to become aware of your feeling. These feelings may be anger, fear, sadness, or anything else that close you down and keep you from connecting with those you love.
You can stuff your feelings and deny that they are there until they become so big that you are forced to deal with them, or you can acknowledge what you are feeling and make the commitment that you are ready to have another experience in your life.
You are saying that you are willing to do what it takes to heal that part of yourself. When it comes to overcoming jealousy, no matter how it shows up in your life, it doesn’t go away until it is acknowledged and there is a strong desire to do whatever is necessary to change and heal it. You also can’t point your finger outward at others. You have to be committed to changing yourself.

Here’s a quick example of how jealousy can manifest itself and a couple of tips for getting to the bottom of it;

Sam found himself being jealous of a new co-worker. His co-worker seemed to have everything–good looking, a persuasive personality, plenty of money, a great wife and kids. He kept denying his feelings about his co-worker but found that after he was in a meeting with this man, he was irritable with his wife and snapped at his kids more than usual.
Sam really knew that he had to do something about his jealousy when he made an uncharacteristic sarcastic remark in a meeting when this co-worker explained an idea he had to sell their product.
Sam committed to finding out where his jealous feelings were coming from and not pretend any longer. He took some time alone to get quiet and feel what he was feeling and put words to those feelings. Then he asked himself some questions like “What is the worst part?” and “What does this feeling remind me of?” He wrote the answers as he asked himself these questions and he was able to get a glimpse of what he needed to heal within himself.
If you are having challenges with jealousy or any other strong emotion that could potentially wreck your relationships I invite you to look underneath and see what the real problem is.
Then you can commit to working on and healing these challenges and committing to making some changes for the better in your life.

The Nigeria Custom service, Kano/Jigawa Command, has seized some military gears smuggled into the state through Mallam Aminu Kano Airport. The state command comptroller, Umar Abbas, told a gathering of stakeholders that the military gears include, military Camouflage Uniforms and boots. Mr. Umar said the seizure is very significant considering the state of insecurity situation in the country. A few months ago, an aircraft loaded with heavy weapons was also apprehended in Kano. -

As much as we may denigrate love or deny its existence, we always seem to dream about that place where we can find it. Every human heart longs to find love, to live in love, and to die having felt loved.

Man cannot live without believing in love, and our constant search for it has led us to seek evidence of its existence and to ask others to give us irrefutable evidence of its reality. Love not an illusion, nor a fleeting intestinal emotion that time knows how to finish. But unfortunately, we often search in others that which we should be nourishing within ourselves.

To love is the vocation of every human being, and it is for love that we are created; it is our beginning, our middle, and our end, but because of that endless desire to experience love, we can fall into the trap of believing that anything is valid in order to attain it, including trampling on others. One does not build a life on the ashes of another. Whoever denies others the right to love denies himself, for love does not exist in a vacuum.

Only love can give orientation to our lives, spare us from a sterile existence, fulfill our inmost being, and eternalize us in time. Whoever wishes to be must love, for he who loves becomes a reflection of God.

At a press conference today, Nigerian Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Ademola Amosu has announced that the Nigerian military is planning to amplify search and rescue efforts for missing Alpha Jet NAF 466.

Dispelling claims from locals who claim they saw the plane, the Air Marshal claims the craft has yet to be found. Amosu however thanked citizens for their continued vigilance and information.

Search for Missing Alpha Jet Intensifies- Chief of Air Staff

The Nigerian Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Ademola Amosu has disclosed that the military is intensifying search and rescue efforts for Alpha Jet NAF 466 belonging to the Nigerian Air Force which went missing at the weekend after routine military operations.

Air Mashall Amosu made the remarks while responding to questions from State House Correspondents, after a meeting at the Presidential Villa.

He insisted that the aircraft was yet to be sighted as at the time he spoke with the media contrary to insinuations that some villagers discovered it.

While commending the public for showing enthusiasm in the search for the missing aircraft, Amosu said the information being passed by the public so far are good but not sufficient enough to define the area of search.

He said: "one of our Alpha Jets went on routine operation in the North-east and they lost contact with the control towers and that made us to immediately initiate search. The weather has not been helpful as we have deployed all our surveillance capability, the citizens have been very, very helpful and we have gotten good information from them.

"But the information we are getting from the citizens are good but not sufficient enough for us to define the area of search."

Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, the Vice-Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has commended the institution’s team which won the 2014 Google Online Marketing Challenge for Middle East and Africa.

He made the commendation on Monday in Ogbomoso when he received the team of LAUTECH undergraduates, and also commended the founding fathers of the institution for laying a good foundation and worthy legacy.
He said that the curriculum which made it mandatory for all intakes to register and offer same courses at the 100 level had continued to put the university ahead of its peers.

An online statement dated Sept. 4, said that the university’s representatives won the contest.
Gbadegesin said some other students whose course of study was not related to ICT had also won other ICT related awards.
He urged students of the institution to remain good ambassadors of the university.

He said the team would soon leave the country for Dublin, Ireland, to visit Google office for workshop.
Some members of the team are: Adedoyin Jelili, Olayanju Abiodun and Adeosun Oluwole of Mechanical Engineering Department.
Others are Adesina Jamiu and Akadiri Olawole, both of the Urban and Regional Planning Department, while Salami Ismaila is of the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry. (NAN)
