VickyyB:
We understand that some ladies double date; but most times, it's all about dating a rich man with the aim of extorting cash from him while having a boyfriend she love so much.

Ladies, Can you date two guys you love at a go with the same motive?
@op, it is not double date but mess/sleeping around.

RomanceAfter Much Consideration,goodbye My Lover by argon500(op): 6:41pm On Nov 16, 2014
After much drama for almost 2 years, I made up my mind yesterday to let go of my girlfriend.
She is the type of a decent girl but she lacks home training. Even though the relationship was a long distance one, but it was full of drama. The only time she visited me, she spent 3 days in my house. Before she visited, she told me bluntly that I shouldn't expect her to cook for me. I thought she was joking not until she arrived. I did all the cooking through out her stay. Thank God, i am the type who like food pass my life(lol). Food is not my problem. The most crazy part of it was her complaining to me she didn't want to eat particular food to the extent of calling her friend on phone complaining of me starving her. I thought I could bear her mistakes cos I am also a crazy dude on my own part.
I called her several times to let us work on our lapses, yet no changes from her side and she was the one who was madly in love. She worked her NYSC service to my state without informing me (wtf), who does that? Anyways, she thought I would be around for long but she never knew she was dating a crazy dude. During her 1 year stay in my city, I only saw her once ( you may call it wickedness but she was never part of my plan at that moment).
She had her birthday last week Monday but to be honest, I forgot. I didn't show online through that day as I was busy with my preparation coming back to Nigeria. I would have seen the notification on Facebook but I missed. I called her on Tuesday to apologized for not calling her or posted on her Facebook page. She was totally mad( Just birthday wishes) Mtcheew.. I wanted to act as usual( crazy dude) but i knew I was the one who was wrong so i tried to talk to her to forgive and forget.
To make it up with her, I called her yesterday to send me her shoe sizes but I was so mad with her response. " I don't want shoe cos you can never know my choice" . Gosh! how can someone be so arrogant. Is she the one paying for the shoe? ok, let even assume what i bought is not her choice, can't she give it out to her siblings, friends e.t.c . the funniest part about it was I had bought a laptop to present to her as her birthday gift. I just wanted to add the shoes with some other stuffs but she messed it up.

Anyways, no pain no gain cos the last time I was really in love was 2008. Her whole dating scenario of was a recommendation . My friend was dating her friend and when her friend visited, she never believe there are still some decent guy around. So her friend set us up via phone cos she is also a decent but arrogant.

I just want to ask the house, I have no intention of informing her officially about me breaking up with her. I just want to keep mute for ever. Do I need to let her know or just ignore for ever?

Note: I had already made up my mind, so no going back.

Disclaimer: Decent guy doesn't mean I am perfect. I can say I am much of crazy introvert guy ..

Christianity EtcWho Do You Worship? God Or Prophet? by argon500(op): 12:41pm On Nov 16, 2014
No angel or man who was godly ever accepted worship from men even when they were mistaken. The early Christians were given the option to reject Jesus as their God and receive Caesar or add Caesar to be God as well or they would be killed. They refused and were burnt at the stake or led to the lions. If Jesus were not considered to be God this would not have been a problem. For all Rome knew they were following Jesus.

1 John 4:1-6

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them".

In the Quranic perspective, The simple meaning of the word 'Al-Ebadah' is the act of worship. To most people the act of Worship is primarily the act of prayer. However the Quran indicates that the act of Worship is a much more profound concept than just the act of prayer. The words of God to His chosen prophet Moses were:

"I am God, there is no god but Me, therefore you shall worship Me and observe the Salat to commemorate Me." 20:14

These sacred words, which speak of Worship and Prayer independently, indicate that these two acts are not the same. If the act of worship was primarily an act of prayer and nothing else, God would not say "worship Me" and "observe the salat". The word "and" indicates that there is more to worship than just praying.

But when considering our present time, most people do worship man/prophet instead of God. They have much respect for who they referred to as their 'Man of god' far more than God.

Jesus is a figure who is loved and revered by billions of people the world over, yet there is much confusion surrounding the status of this colossal personality. Muslims and Christians both hold Jesus in high regard but view him in very different ways.

If we fear and obey God, there won't be any bombing and killing of innocent people all the in name of religion. Do not get me wrong, whether christians or muslims, they both have bad eggs.

Every single person born has this innate knowledge automatically within himself — a clear standard by which he can judge himself. You have not been taught these things that you know, yet still somehow you know. It is called THE CONSCIENCE. The conscience is the most sensitive aspect within human nature. It is the instinctive knowledge of right and wrong. Like a candle, its light shines to expose the darkness. It keeps a perfect record of every thought and every deed you ever committed. Like a witness in the courtroom, it testifies to that which is most hidden in the chambers of the soul. It urges us to obey what we know is true and turn away from what we know is evil.

The conscience is the inner voice of God within each person. It is the self-reflecting, judicial power in mankind by which God can call every man or woman to account. If we are absolutely honest with ourselves, our conscience will let us know what we are really like, passing perfect judgment on our state before God.

So ask yourself who do you worship? When you sleep at night, do you consider things you have done or about to do?

Happy Sunday to you all
PoliticsSoar Like An Eagle by argon500(op): 11:16am On Nov 14, 2014
Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come.

When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us, like the eagle, we can rise above them and ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure, and disappointment into our lives.

What is your greatest challenge right now? Jot it down. And then let it lift you higher.
PoliticsNuhu Ribadu’s Brother Escapes From Abductors by argon500(op): 11:05am On Nov 14, 2014
Sani Ribadu, the kidnapped brother of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, has escaped from his abductors, family sources have told PREMIUM TIMES.

Another of the Ribadu brothers, Arabi, told this newspaper that his brother escaped from his abductors “around 2a.m. in the bushes surrounding Girei Local Government where they kept him”.

He said Sani then trekked to a nearby village, Sangere, arriving there at about 4a.m. where he waited to observe his Fajr prayer (early morning prayer) at the Mosque there before taking public transport to his house in Yola, arriving around 6:03 a.m.

There were widespread speculation last night that Sani, a former chairman of Yola South local government area, was freed by his abductors. But several family members, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES, dismissed the report, saying his whereabouts remained unknown.
Sani, police said, was abducted by three gunmen around 6:30p.m, Sunday, in his farm along the Yola-Fufore expressway.

“The three gunmen accosted the former chairman in his farm along Yola-Fufore road and asked him, alongside 12 of his workers, to lie down,” the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police, Othman Abubakar, told journalists in Yola. “But four of the workers managed to flee the scene leaving Ribadu and eight workers.”

According to him, the gunmen initially bundled Mr. Ribadu into his Toyota Tundra but suddenly changed their minds. They then transferred him to a white Starlet and escaped through the route leading to Mayo Belwa Local Government.

Mr. Abubakar, a deputy superintendent of police, could not be reached Friday morning for comments on Sani’s return. He is yet to return multiple calls made to him by this newspaper.

The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, Kenneth Minimah, has vowed to regain all the territories taken over by the Boko Haram insurgents.
He stated this at a meeting with the Senate Committee for Defence and the Army on Thursday.
The meeting was called to find out the next step for the military and how they would tackle insurgency in Nigeria.
Boko Haram recently captured several local governments in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Minimah, a Major General, told reporters, “We are working very hard to retake these territories and very soon, we will claim them and indeed other territories.
“I want to continue to rekindle the confidence of Nigerians and particularly the ordinary Nigerians, who have suffered the pain of these insurgencies.
“The Nigerian Army would do its best and strive to win this war and reclaim the lost territories.”
The chairman of the committee, Mr. Sekibo, said they believed the military would do their best as they had been given assurance that a positive impact would be seen this time.
He also said that the military asked them to inform the constituents in those states that the issues would not escalate and there would be positive results in a couple of weeks.
He said there was a possibility that elections would hold in those states as long as the terrains were captured soon.
When asked by a journalist if the assurance was not in vain as the military had always made this promise, Mr. Sekibo said that they had confidence in the military that it was real this time.
The governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngilari, had said Thursday that local vigilante groups have recaptured Mubi, a major town lost to Boko Haram.
Speaking through his spokesperson, the governor said the operation received the support of the military.

PoliticsAs Jonathan Declares 2015: 375 Borno Rented Crowd Clash Over N3m Largesse by argon500(op): 11:17am On Nov 12, 2014
President Goodluck Jonathan, acknowledging cheers from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters, during declaration of his intention to contest for 2015 presidential race, yesterday at the Eagle Square, in Abuja.

An estimated 375 youths from Borno state yesterday clashed over 3milion naira allegedly given to them to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s declaration in Abuja. The youths who attacked one another with words and blows came from various local government councils of Borno state such as: Gwoza , Gosha and Pulka. They alleged that N1million was given to them in their village to support the president declaration yesterday.

Other angry youths from Kirawa ,Chinene, Ashiga Shiya and Ambawa also alleged they were given N1m right from their state.
The youths assembled themselves alongside 75 vehicles around the Nicon plaza in the central business area in Abuja saying, they came from Borno state to Abuja to support President Goodluck Jonathan, Sen. Modu sheriff defection to PDP, Sen Peter Biye Gumthan , for his aspiration in People Democratic Party [PDP] . The youths apparently came in 75 Gulf vehicles with each one carrying no less than 5 persons.
In the process of sharing an additional N1million allegedly given to them after the President’s declaration, chaos arose among the gathering, because the money was not shared on pro-rata basis, as some were given N2000 each while others got N3,500 .
An anonymous youth revealed that “they came from Borno, to support their leaders for being in the wining party where they will have a strong and recognized government that would always speak with the voice of the masses so that they will have peace and harmony in the state.”
He added that they want their leaders to be recognized in the government, so that, the killing of innocent souls by the so called Boko Haram insurgence will be a thing of history.

Jonathan while making his formal declaration to contest the presidency in Abuja Tuesday said, “History has shown that the path of honour for any true leader is not to walk away from his people in moments of challenges. We must stand together in adversity and overcome all threats to our development. We must defend our future, for the sake of our children.
He said his administration has tackled corruption significantly, disclosing that he had weeded out 56000 ghost workers from the civil service and saved the nation about N162 billion.

The President who said he has successfully eradicated corruption in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, added that he had instructed the anti corruption agencies (ICPC) to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“After seeking the face of God and consulting my family and to the call of all people nationwide to run, I Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan has accepted to present myself to run. I promise to work with all. I see a different Nigeria that the next generation,” he declared.
Few minutes after President Jonathan’s declaration, the Jama’atu Nasrul Islam (JNI), declared that it would not accept Jonathan’s candidature.
The JNI said the president did not show concern and pity for the vulnerable Nigerians who are being killed currently in the country and no tangible action was being put in place to protect their lives.
JNI made the lamentation yesterday through its secretary, Dr Khalid Aliyu when interviewed on the Hausa Service of the BBC monitored in Jos on JNI’s position in relation to the President’s declaration amid Boko Haram insurgency bedeviling most part of the Nigeria’s North.
The secretary noted that, “No reasonable person will declare political interest when people are being killed. We are not happy and not supporting it.”, he added.

Also in his reaction to the president’s declaration, a human right activist of the Human Right Congress, Comrade Shehu Sani, told the BBC that Jonathan’s declaration amid lose of lives and property in the country signaled that the president didn’t give relevance to the lives and property of Nigerian citizenry just as he said not less than fourteen hours, students were killed in Government Science School Potiskum, yet Jonathan went ahead with his declaration.
Sani added that Jonathan had no mercy on Nigerians and lacked compassion, explaining that, “no human being whether Muslim or Christian would declare political interest just hours after a deadly terror attack

SportsMorocco Disqualified From Afcon by argon500(op): 5:15pm On Nov 11, 2014
Morocco have been stripped of the right to host next year's African Nations Cup, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided on Tuesday as it examined prospective replacements.

It has also disqualified Morocco from playing in the finals, which CAF said would go ahead as planned on the scheduled dates of January 17-February 8.

Morocco's removal as hosts follows the north African country's request for a postponement of the tournament over fears of the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.

Morocco believes thousands of travelling supporters from west Africa pose a risk and wanted a postponement of at least six months while the fight against Ebola intensified.

But CAF rejected any change to the planned dates citing a packed calendar. They gave Morocco an ultimatum of Saturday to withdraw their request which was rejected.

CAF said it had received "a few applications from national associations confirming their desire to host the 2015 finals on the dates agreed".

But it did not name any of them. No country has made any public expression of interest.

CAF said it would now study the applications and finalise the selection of new hosts "shortly" but did not give a date.

It will also confirm a date and venue for the draw ceremony, which had been scheduled for Rabat in Morocco on November 26.

African soccer's governing body said it would seek legal redress from Morocco based on its contractual agreement with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation which was signed in April.

Moroccan football is also likely to be heavily sanctioned.

CAF's executive committee, meeting in Cairo, also confirmed the qualifying matches set for this weekend and next Wednesday, to determine the 2015 finalists would go ahead as planned.

RomanceIs Prostitution Now A Job/profession/career? by argon500(op): 5:01pm On Nov 11, 2014
Prostitution is the business or practice of engaging in sexual relations in exchange for payment or some other benefit. Prostitution is sometimes described as commercial sex.

A person who works in this field is called a prostitute, and is a kind of sex worker. Society has basically given up on eliminating prostitution. Therefore, in most major cities around the world, there are neighborhoods where prostitution is concentrated. Society drives prostitution into one part of town where prostitution can go "unseen" during the hours of the night.

With the level at which girls/ladies/women demands from their partner, I see no reason why they shouldn't be regarded as a prostitute cos afterall, men do make use of them before handling them payment/cash or other benefits.
PoliticsRoad To 2015 Won’t Be Smooth, PDP Govs Tell Jonathan by argon500(op): 4:39pm On Nov 11, 2014
Peoples Democratic Party governors on Tuesday told President Goodluck Jonathan that the road to 2015 would not be smooth for him and the party. However, they said they were of the opinion that the party will still win the presidential election and majority of the governorship seats in the country.

The Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio said this on behalf of his colleagues at President Jonathan’s presidential declaration at Eagles Square, Abuja on Tuesday. The governor, who is among the governors contesting for the position of senator, said that the ruling party will not handover to sponsors of terrorism.
While saying that he and other PDP governors were behind the President, Akpabio said, “We were robbed of three states, but the entry of Ekiti and Ondo States have increased our number. We may end up with about 30 states.
“But Mr. President, we know that the route to 2015 is not going to be very smooth but we are assuring you that at the end of the tunnel victory is yours as victory belongs to all of us and victory remains that of PDP.
“We will never be intimidated. You are like David in the Bible, you are fighting all the wars today so that future Presidents in Nigeria will have peace.
“We recognize that. You have taken the right step by building the Almajiri schools particularly in Northern Nigeria, you are building other schools in the South.
“You have decided to take education as a major step to educate Nigerian children so that they will not be misled in the future again.
“Never again will people mislead our children into terrorism; never again will our children succumb to insurgency. We are witnessing something that is totally un-Nigerian and we are saying do not be intimidated, we are behind you.
“Those who are behind you are more than those who are against you. In 2015 all Nigerians are going to tell you that we are behind you.”
He said that the opposition was fighting a lost battle, adding that there was no way the ruling party would handover the reigns of government to them.
He said that the opposition All Progressives Congress has no plan for the country, describing it as blackmailer and agent of destabilizer.
Akpabio added that opposition was fighting selfish war, stressing that the PDP would not be intimidated.

Politics47 Students Killed In Yobe Suicide Bomb Attack by argon500(op): 10:42am On Nov 11, 2014
Boko Haram were suspected of killing nearly 50 pupils Monday in a suicide bombing in northeast Nigeria, in one of the worst attacks against schools teaching a so-called Western curriculum.
The explosion at the all-boys school in Potiskum is the latest in a series of atrocities against schoolchildren in the state of Yobe, and the second suicide attack in the town in eight days.
The massacre came just a day after the release of a new Boko Haram video in which the group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, again rejected Nigerian government claims of a ceasefire and peace talks.
Students at the Government Comprehensive Senior Science Secondary School in Potiskum were waiting to hear the principal’s daily address when the explosion happened at 7:50 am (0650 GMT).
“There was an explosion detonated by a suicide bomber. We have 47 dead and 79 injured,” national police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu said, adding that Boko Haram was believed responsible.
eacher at the school, who asked not be identified, called the blast “thunderous”, while a local described the horror of the aftermath.
Adamu Alkassim said the scene was a mass of abandoned footwear, blood and flesh, as the victims were taken to the Potiskum General Hospital, just 100 metres away.
One rescue worker involved in evacuating the students from the school said the wounded had “various degrees of injuries”.
The victims are thought to be in their teens.
Boko Haram, which wants to create a hardline Islamic state in northern Nigeria, has previously carried out deadly attacks on schools teaching a so-called Western curriculum since 2009.
In February, gunmen killed at least 40 students after throwing explosives into the dormitory of a government boarding school in Buni Yadi, also in Yobe state.
In July last year 42 students were killed when Boko Haram stormed dormitories in a gun and bomb attack on a government boarding school in the village of Mamudo, near Potiskum.
Boko Haram’s most high-profile attack on a school came in April, when fighters kidnapped 276 girls from the town of Chibok in Borno state, also in northeast Nigeria.
More than six months later, 219 of the girls are still being held.
– Boko Haram blamed –
Potiskum, the commercial hub of Yobe state, has been repeatedly targeted by deadly attacks blamed on Boko Haram.
Last Monday, at least 15 people were killed in a suicide bombing on a Shia religious ceremony in the city.
On Wednesday, 16 men arrested by the military on suspicion of links to Boko Haram were found dead with bullet wounds just hours later.
Yobe is one of three northeastern states that has been under a state of emergency since May last year to try to quell the bloody insurgency.
But violence has continued unabated and Boko Haram has seized at least two dozen towns and villages in recent months, raising doubts about the government’s ability to control the region.
Boko Haram fighters were seen in a new video obtained by AFP on Sunday parading a tank in an unidentified town that they apparently now control and Shekau preaching to locals.
The message in the 44-minute video appeared to be aimed at reinforcing Shekau’s claim that he has created a caliphate within Nigeria.
Shekau, who has previously expressed solidarity with other jihadi groups and leaders, seemed to associate territory under his control with a wider, global caliphate.
But he does not submit to the authority of any other leader.

Politics2015: I’ve Lost Confidence In INEC To Conduct Free, Fair Election – Tinubu by argon500(op): 9:39am On Nov 09, 2014
Chieftan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has described the on-going Permanent Voters Card distribution exercise in Lagos as a colossal failure, adding that his confidence in Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be able to midwife a successful 2015 election has been eroded.
The former governor of Lagos State also accused INEC of colluding with the presidency and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
Tinubu made the statement Saturday at a press briefing held at the party’s secretariat in Lagos, affirming that the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) exercise in Lagos has failed.
The APC strongman wondered why INEC could not get the process right in four years, pointing out that the missing over one million names on INEC register in Lagos, the hitches and seeming failures were deliberate to pave way for rigging of the election.
Flanked by the party’s executive in the state, Tinubu said,” This Permanent Voters Cards collection exercise has failed and it is not acceptable . We will consider it as a rigging exercise. INEC has colluded with the presidency, the opposing party to rig this election from the data to the end.
“For four years you are unable to make ready the permanent voters card for those who are already in record, and you are at this last minute, a few months to the election you are still not ready with the voters’ cards in these 20 local government areas, you have not published the figures of those who were left out of the system as a result of one fault or the other and no disclosures to them?
“You have not been able to rectify the anomalies, irregularities that might have been involved. You have not been able by now to even start the exercise of those who are 18 years and above that should be captured and be given the right to vote.

Politics1,000 Obasanjo’s Loyalists Dump PDP For APC In Ogun by argon500(op): 10:21am On Nov 08, 2014
The frosty relationship between former president, Olusegun Obasanjo and the national leadership of the PDP assumed a new dimension yesterday as no fewer than 1000 supporters of Obasanjo led by his strong ally and a one-time national treasurer of the party, Bode Mustapha defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State.
The defecting Peoples’ Democratic Party members warned the Inspector General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba against plunging the country into war following his removal of the security details of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
Mustapha, who served as a member of the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003 and had earlier submitted his form of intent for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat described APC as a better alternative to PDP.
He led other prominent members of the PDP, including the former Chairman of Abeokuta North, Sunday Akintona to move over to the APC.
Berating the IGP for withdrawing Tambuwal’s security aides, Mustapha noted that the continued absence of the security aides attached to the speaker could expose him to sundry security risks particularly the Boko Haram sect members, who had attacked prominent persons in the country.
He said, “In Nigeria, we love sentiments a lot. Do we know what can happen to Nigeria if anything should happen to Speaker Tambuwal? Nobody knows! The IGP should not put this country on fire. He should immediately restore Tambuwa’s security aides until a court of competent jurisdiction declares his seat vacant.
“He was elected as the primus inter-pares in the House of Representatives. He was elected as leader by his members and it is only his members that can remove him as Speaker or a court of competent jurisdiction. Then and only then can his security aides be withdrawn.
“When people were defecting to PDP, it was hosanna in Aso Rock to the extent that Governor Mimiko of Ondo State defected to the PDP.
‘’But whatever is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. When Tambuwal defected, you withdrew his security aides. Why didn’t you do same when Governor Mimiko defected to the PDP because he was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, LP?”, he queried.
The APC Deputy Chairman in Ogun State, Alhaji Tajudeen Lemboye, in receiving Mustapha’s forms promised that the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants in the state.
DailyPost recalls that Obasanjo had earlier in the year said on Channels Television that he bore no grudge against anybody in the PDP, but expressed his displeasure with the choice of Mr Buruji Kashamu as the Chairman, Mobilisation and Organisation committee of the party in the South-West.
This was his exact words then, “As a former President of Nigeria, the Chairman of West African Commission on Drug and a member of the Global Commission on Drug, I cannot accept that the zonal leader of my political party and, worse still in my zone, will be an indicted drug baron wanted in America. How do I explain that to friends outside Nigeria? This is only one of the many issues that I have pointed out and still pointing out,” he said, while giving a reason for his seeming withdrawal from the party’s national activities.”
He maintained that he had a “national and international standard to maintain and reputation to keep and sustain”.

RomanceMoney Problems And Marriage Trouble by argon500(op): 9:27am On Nov 08, 2014
My marriage problems started after the baby was born. My wife Keji changed permanently. The pregnancy was fine and of course we both needed to adjust, but once Loveth was born, Keji has not been the same loving sweet wife I used to have.

My friends tell me to be patient because she will come around to her old self, that most people have marriage-problems like that, but I feel sort of abandoned by her. In fact, I feel lonely at times and don’t know how to handle it.

Six months ago I lost my job and we are now having money problems beside marriage-problems! Keji is concerning herself totally with the baby and leaves the bills and money problems to me.
I feel that she could also do some job hunting and share the responsibility of providing for the family. It’s really hard to discuss this thing.

I don’t feel happy, is my marriage in trouble now?
Do I have serious marriage-problems? Does anyone recognize these marriage problems stories?
PoliticsSchools Shut In Adamawa As Moves To Free Mubi Suffer Setback by argon500(op): 8:55am On Nov 08, 2014
A joint operation of the military and Mobile Police units known as Operation Guerilla yesterday failed in their bid to recapture Mubi, the home town of the Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Sabundo Bade, from the grip of Boko Haram
Members of the joint operation, who departed Yola in high spirits are camped at Pakka near Maiha but have been unable to overrun the sect three days after arriving Pakka, which is about 7 kilometres from Mubi.
Soldiers are also said to be camped at Mararaba, about 6 kilometres from Mubi, and are making frantic efforts to gain access into the insurgents’ hideout with a view to dislodging them.
The troops, led by a general, were said to have moved to Pella, about 80 kilometres from Mubi, to join forces with Operation Guerilla to flush out the insurgents.
A resident of Mararaba, Miss Phebe James, said: “There is the presence of stern and heavily armed soldiers manning the roads leading to Vimtim, Mubi and Michika towns, which are under the control of Boko Haram insurgents.
In the mean time, most primary and secondary schools in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State have been shut down indefinitely over fears of possible attack by the sect.
Fears in the city were heightened by an attack on Ashaka Cement where the insurgents were alleged to have carted away large dynamites and explosive devices.
The outlawed group had earlier declared their intention to overrun Yola.

PoliticsNigerian Troops, Mobile Police Unit Advance Towards Mubi To Flush Out Boko Haram by argon500(op): 9:34pm On Nov 06, 2014
The Nigerian military and a mobile police unit have started advancing to the commercial border town of Mubi, Adamawa state.
The town along with some other communities in Adamawa and Borno states were taken over by Boko Haram in the last few weeks.
Sources say that the police unit, which appeared battle ready, was headed to the troubled area not only to flush out the terrorists but also to liberate Vintim, the home town of the Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, one of the communities currently under the control of Boko Haram.
One of the fleeing residents, Bitrus Gajere, said the mobile police special anti-terrorist unit had already reached Marraba Mubi Junction, about 18 kilometres from Mubi town.

Other reports say the Nigerian military backing the police unit and led by a colonel was at Pella Junction, 80 kilometres from Mubi.
Mr. Gajere expressed his happiness at the development.
“It may lead to the end of the trauma occasioned by the dismal performance of Nigerian troops who always flee whenever insurgents strike, leading to the fall of many towns and villages,” he said.
Two residents of Marraba Mubi, Yohanna Gambo and Sanda Zira, told reporters in Yola that they saw a detachment of mobile police officers keeping vigil at the junction leading to Mubi and Michika Local Governments.
“In fact, we are shocked and surprised to see a handful of mobile police officer because since the fall of Mubi, we have not seen a security man,” Mr. Gambo said.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Adamawa Police Command, Othman Abubakar, a deputy superintendent of police, were unsuccessful as calls to his mobile phone were diverted. Contrary to the claim by the Nigerian military that it was on top of the situation in Mubi, reports say Boko Haram is consolidating its position in the captured town and indeed renamed it “Madinatul Islam” meaning the city of Islam.
Trapped residents said the insurgents were having a field day; holding open court and preaching sessions as they threaten to marry off spinsters to bachelors and open shops that were closed by their owners.

Musa Aliyu, one of the trapped residents, said: “They asked us to go about our normal business without fear of being killed. They warned shop owners to come back and open their shops; if not, the shops would be opened by force. The insurgents are now holding public courts and preaching at the emir’s palace and threatened to marry off girls in for a dowry of N2,000 to N5,000. For now there is calm in the town, though we could hear gunshots at the outskirts.”

PoliticsOsoba, Others Defection Shocking, Won’t Affect Party -APC by argon500(op): 4:40pm On Nov 06, 2014
The All Progressives Congress has expressed shock over the defection of some of its members in Ogun State to another party, but said the defection will not affect the overall chances of the party in the forthcoming polls.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the shock stemmed from the fact that efforts are ongoing to reconcile the aggrieved members in the Ogun State Chapter, hence it was expected that they will give room for the efforts to yield fruits.
It expressed the hope that the defecting party members will reconsider their decision and beat a quick retreat.
”Yes, the defection of some our members will create some challenges for our party, but we will go back to the drawing board to re-strategise and redouble our efforts to retain the state in 2015.
”Every member of our party is important to its overall success, but none is more important than the party. Against this background, no member can hold the party into ransom,” it said.
APC said it is a mere fallacy for anyone to conclude that the defection of some members, irrespective of their self importance, will dramatically alter the chances of the party in 2015, and therefore urged its members in Ogun State not to lose any sleep over the latest development.

PoliticsMrs Jonathan Resigns by argon500(op): 12:33pm On Nov 06, 2014
Yes, that was how I first saw the headline too late Thursday October 23, 2014. Another headline screamed at me, “Wife of President Jonathan Resigns.” Well, that almost ruined my evening and I had moderate heart palpitations. I mean, of all the news you don’t want to hear, that was right up there. Mrs Patience Jonathan resigned?

It was only after I had gone through a few lines of the ‘breaking news’ that I realised Mrs Jonathan merely resigned her job as a Permanent Secretary in the much discomfited State of Bayelsa.
For those who might not be aware, since the summer of 2012, Mrs Jonathan has doubled as a Permanent Secretary (of Education, would you believe!) down in Bayelsa. It is one of those things that only happens in Nigeria; so no real need to try and understand it now. Anyway, apparently, the lady’s had enough of whatever it was she was doing – or not doing – and has packed that gig in. Presumably, she wants to concentrate her considerable energies on other things. Fair enough.

I don’t blame Mrs Jonathan. I’d have done the same thing if I were in her shoes; what with Valentine Day 2015 fast approaching. That day, the Jonathans will be sharing more than a large box of chocolate cake. The President hasn’t put together a campaign committee yet, not to talk of a proper campaign team. Though the signs suggest that the APC is getting ready to blow the presidential contest, nevertheless, in Nigeria, you do not take chances; you do not take anything for granted. So I can understand entirely why Mrs Jonathan would shift her attention away from Bayelsa’s Ministry of Education.

Furthermore, there’s the little matter of the upcoming governorship tussles in Rivers and Bayelsa states. I’m pretty sure Mrs Jonathan would not want another Amaechi in either of those states for a while as she seeks to consolidate her godmama-hood for the greater good.
Moreover, from a distance, Mrs Jonathan doesn’t strike me as one to willingly give up a largesse. So perhaps it is time for Governor Dickson to start to worry. All very interesting. We continue to ‘watch this space.’
But I have to admit my relief when I realised that Mrs Jonathan had not resigned her post as First and Second Lady (seriously, when was the last time you heard of Hadjia Mrs Sambo?)

In those roles, Mrs Jonathan has provided all of us invaluable social and psychological service. This is not just about entertainment value. It is more than that. It is not for nothing that Nigerians were scored the happiest people on earth. Mrs Jonathan’s contribution in this respect has been significant and continues to be greatly appreciated. Her unique style and often times intentional witticism does help a lot.
Nigeria is not an easy terrain. Look at what the Super Eagles and brother Keshi have done to us. There is NEPA, tipsy policemen, 419ers and women wearing biker shorts as panties just about everywhere you look. I tell you, it’s not easy at all. So it is good to laugh every now and again to keep hope alive and to ensure one’s sanity. Our stand-up comedians seem to have had it and are beginning to recycle the same jokes. Also, regrettably, our pastors seem to have put divine entertainment on hold for the pursuit of other gods like private jets, yachts, etc, etc. However, Mrs Jonathan is still going strong and she keeps it fresh. You have to appreciate that. In fact, the lady spoils us. What more can a people ask for?

You can see why I was petrified when I first set eyes on those frightful headlines. So I am very glad that Mrs Jonathan is still our First Lady. Inshallah, she will continue to so be for a very long time yet. And for the records, it is not true that Mrs Jonathan is being lined up as a possible Permanent Secretary at the Federal level having garnered much expertise and valuable experience at the state level, and having straightened out education in Bayelsa State. Similarly, those shapeless rumours that she resigned to put together an Aba-made, home-grown dictionary are mildly exaggerated.
It only remains for our newspaper and online Editors to please watch how they present news to us. Some of those headlines are not good for my heart…

PoliticsWhat Does Corruption Really Mean? by argon500(op): 11:49am On Nov 06, 2014
WHAT does corruption look like? The short answer is: not what you think it does, at least according to President Goodluck Jonathan who while recently “rethinking corruption” said that: “Over 70% of what are called corruption [offences], even by the EFCC [Economic and Financial Crimes Commission] and other anti-corruption agencies, is not corruption, but common stealing.”
This very high percentage suggests that Nigeria may be nearly corruption-free. If this is the president’s proposition, this government has something of a mountain to climb to satisfactorily prevent and combat corruption and impunity of perpetrators in the country.

The ‘over 70% cases of corruption’ that fit as ‘common stealing’ under the president’s ‘definition’ would presumably include dozens of unresolved corruption cases against former governors, unresolved cases of corruption in the petroleum sector especially the case of the missing $20 billion from the account of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), unresolved oil subsidy scam, the unimplemented KPMG report on corruption within the NNPC, unresolved cases of corruption in the pension fund, unresolved cases of corruption in the Universal Basic Education Commission funds, and the unresolved cases of corruption in the capital market.
