Nairaland / General / Organised Labour Rejected Tinubu’s Offer To Pay ₦250,000 Wage And Hike Petrol Pr by Ariba2(m): 8:03am On Jul 19 |
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, says the Organised Labour rejected a proposal by President Bola Tinubu to pay ₦250,000 minimum wage and increase petrol prices. “Accepting ₦70,000 was the best way to save Nigerians from further hardship,” Ajaero said on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday shortly after Labour met with the President in Abuja. At last week’s meeting, the President brought a proposal that ‘I will give you guys ₦250,000’ if you allow me to equally increase the pump price of petroleum products’ and we said, ‘No, we need to go and consult’. “Today, we went there to tell him, ‘No’. The labour movement can make sacrifices without allowing Nigerians to suffer further on the increase in the pump price of petroleum products.” The pump price of petrol jumped from ₦184 in May 2023 when Tinubu declared that “subsidy is gone” to about ₦700 at the moment, depending on the part of the country, reports Channels TV. Ajaero also said the Organised Labour agreed to ₦70,000 as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers because the wage reviews in the country will no longer be every five years but once in three years. President Tinubu is expected to send an executive bill to the National Assembly on the agreed rate for onward legislation. https://thefrontierng.com/revealed-organised-labour-rejected-tinubus-offer-to-pay-%e2%82%a6250000-wage-and-hike-petrol-price-nlc/

As the festive season of Ileya envelops us in its warm embrace, it is a time for joy, reflection, and gratitude. In the spirit of this special occasion, I join countless others in extending my sincerest congratulations to the Honorable Minister of Power on this auspicious celebration. May this Ileya bring peace, happiness, and unity to your family, friends, and our great nation. In addition to the festive greetings, I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Minister for his thoughtful gesture of providing palliatives to our union(RATTAWU). This kind act demonstrates the Minister's commitment to supporting the welfare of the people, especially during significant cultural and religious celebrations. Your consideration and generosity mean a great deal to us, and we are truly grateful. However, as we rejoice and give thanks, I would like to gently remind the Honorable Minister that the promised palliatives have not yet been delivered. While we appreciate the intention and effort, we eagerly await the actual arrival of this gesture. We hope that the logistics and distribution will be expedited soon, enabling us to fully appreciate your kindness and celebrate Ileya with the joy it deserves. The significance of Ileya is deeply rooted in our cultural and religious heritage, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, the power of faith, and the importance of family and community bonding. As we mark this occasion, we are reminded of the values that unite us and the importance of compassion, empathy, and generosity. The Minister's gesture aligns with these values, and we appreciate the thought and effort. In conclusion, we reiterate our Ileya greetings and gratitude to the Honorable Minister of Power. We look forward to receiving the palliatives and celebrating this special occasion with joy and appreciation. Your kindness and support mean a great deal to us, and we hope that this gesture will foster a stronger sense of unity among our people. Politics / Salary Deductions: Oyo NLC Insists Govt Must Pay Salary In Full by Ariba2(m): 11:22am On Jul 28, 2023 |
Civil servants in Oyo State have been directed to converge at the entrance of the main gate leading to office of the state governor on Monday by 7:30 am in order to have him address them face to face on their long time demands. The directive was given by the chairman of the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Kayode Martins after addressing workers on issues bordering on their salaries and others on Thursday at the NLC office, Ibadan. According to him, the directive became imperative owing to the situation of things on their demand from the state government over some time. It will be recalled that the union last week Thursday gave the state government ultimatum till last Monday to attend to their demand, hence, they cannot guarantee the industrial harmony in the state. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday July 27, 2023, at the NLC headquarters, Ibadan, Comrade Martins said they are not relenting on their oars at ensuring that the state government yield and attend to all their demands. “We have written so many letters to the state government without any response, we don’t actually know what is going on. Just last week Thursday, we gave the government an ultimatum to address our demands till last Monday, yet nothing happened. So, we have resolved again to go in our numbers to converge at the main gate of the governor’s office so that he can come out to address us. Comrade Martins said they are demanding state government to release the outstanding salary deductions and other entitlements of workers in the state from January 2023 till date, adding that they can no longer bear the pain. According to him, the union is also admonished the state government to roll out parliative measures in good time to cushion the effects of subsidy removal as being done in other states, saying the cost of living has gone up and has really made life difficult for the entire masses. He said they have series of demands most especially on issues pertaining to welfare of workers and the entire masses in the state.”We are demanding the state government to release the outstanding salary deductions of workers and other entitlements from January till date to enable them cope with the present economic situation. “We still have some of our salaries being witheld from January till date, which is staff deductions. Secondly, we demand that government should release outstanding leave bonuses and letters promotion of workers over the years. Take for instance, since his pronouncement in 2021 on the issue, no worker has received any letter. “So, we are asking and demanding that year 2022 and 2023 promotion be addressed with immediate effect. We are asking that the government should commence the payment for gratuities to retirees, because things have changed economically. “We are asking the state government to respond to the deductions in workers salaries, outstanding promotions, since 2021, we are yet to receive any letter. The issue of gratuities and pension areas has to be reviewed. Pension was last reviewed in 2007 and we are still on the old salary despite the high rate of inflation and the harsh economy. Comrade Martins said it is high time governor Seyi Makinde address them (Civil servants) on the situation of things on their demands, adding that they have long pacified the people. We want the governor to talk to us one on one on Monday in order to know the situation of things. We have written series of letters without achieving any progress, so. this time we want to have one on one talk with him. In the last four years, no meeting has come between us and the governor. The NLC chairman said the outcome of Monday’s gathering will determine their next line of action.

Religion / What The Bible Says About Elections by Ariba2(m): 12:29pm On Jan 29, 2023 |
BIBLE'S OPINION ABOUT ELECTION Exodus 18:21 (NIV VERSION) But select capable men from all the people--men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain--and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. From the above bible verse, it is clear that we shall select from many to govern over : -Thousands - Presidency -Hundreds - Governorship -Fifties - National Assembly -Tens - State Assembly. While we choose, let's consider these three things as prescribed by the bible: -Men who fear God -Trustworthy men - Men who hate dishonest gain (bribe). I pray that as we choose our leaders in this Election, God will open our eyes to see the best for this country. (C) ariba2 1 Like

Sirjamo: From your submission, its obvious that u don't understand what organization restructuring is all about. If 2 cars is been driven by 10 drivers, whose fault. Does that nean kaduna govt doesn't have agencies where these drivers will be much needed. And if perhaps they employed too much drivers, restructure them by training them on another profession and deploy them to where they will be needed more. I work in a media organization, i ve seen a couple of times when drivers, carpenters is been trained and converted to cameramen because they needed more camera handlers than drivers. 7 Likes 1 Share |

I will try to make my story short. On july 23rd, i was trying to recharge my prepaid meter via quickteller and to every time i tried, i was having ERROR, so i kept trying till i was successful at the fifth time. Meanwhile i didn't get alert for my transaction till after some time. Shortly after five minutes i received alert of #3100 for four consecutive times for the transaction error, totaled 12400. I called FCMB for like 3times but wasn't picked after spending nothing less than 20minutes on each call and its was not toll free. Eventually it was picked and they promised to investigate. Two days, #3100 was reversed out of #12400. Up till date, nothing has been done to the remaining 9300 and they kept wasting my call cards for calling customer care. Pls i need the appropriate Authority to report this financial institution for this act. Attached are the quickteller receipts and call for tonight without been resolved as well.

Crime / How I Orchestrated My Disappearance From Police Custody- Suspected Serial Killer by Ariba2(m): 6:10am On Aug 24, 2020 |
The rearrested suspected Ibadan serial killer, Sunday Shodipe, has revealed he escaped when given opportunity to bathe at the Mokola Police Station on August 11. He revealed this in an unconfirmed video posted by an Ibadan-based broadcaster, Hamzat Oriyomi, on Sunday. Shodipe, who was arrested on July 17, escaped from Mokola, Ibadan police station on August 11. He said he decided to escape when he realised the police officer guarding him was engrossed in a chat with another officer at the station. Shodipe explained a female Divisional Police Officer, who was recently deployed to the station, ordered one officer (Funso) to allow him to take his bath. He said the officer had warned him not to make any attempt to escape while taking his bath, adding that he was not even thinking of running away at that point. He, however, recalled he decided to escape when he saw that the officer was engrossed in a discussion with another person and not paying attention to him. He said: “The new female DPO asked officer Funso to allow us take our bath. He cautioned me not to try to escape when taking my bath. “I escaped when I saw him discussing with another person. I climbed the borehole pole and jumped the fence. “The people living in the area saw me when I escaped but they did not raise any alarm.” He was rearrested on Sunday in Bodija area of Ibadan. https://impartnewspoint.com/how-i-orchestrated-my-disappearance-from-police-custody-suspected-serial-killer-in-ibadan
