saintbillion:
Good evening my fellow Nairalanders.

On the 28th of December, I went to Access bank to request for a new ATM card. While waiting for my turn, another customer, an elderly man of around 50years reached out to me saying i should help him out with my powerbank so he can power his phone and set his mobile app of which i obliged. I gave him the powerbank, when the bank staff was attending to me; the old man left the banking with my powerbank.

I quickly remember and raised alarm. His form was later sort out and his phone number was called. He picked and said he won't bring the powerbank. He ended up blocking the staff number. I requested they give me his number so i can trace him. They refuse and said it's against their policy.

The powerbank is very costly. Pls what can i do get my property
28th December was a Sunday. How did you find yourself in the bank on a Sunday?

Lets put it this way.
Dangote prioritized his refinery, which is a "private" refinery
Farouk prioritized his children.

The minute dangote published his Farouk children's names......He has lost the battle in the court of public opinion.
If you want to fight me....fight me directly. But my children and my wife are civilians.
Never fight a mans wife or children to get at him.
Are you telling me that as a public officer, I can use my wife and children to siphon govt money and nobody has the right to talk because they are civilianshuh What are you even sayinghuh

35 Years of doing business in Nigeria, Dangote just woke up last night to see that Farouk is corrupt ?
When Emefiele was giving him subsidized dollars from CBN,he didnt see Emefiele as corrupt ?
Between getting fx at subsidised rate to build a key infrastructure like refinery that will make the nation self sufficient and employ the youths and spending the tax payers money to pay your children school fees, are they comparable? Govt has the right to grant such subsidy to key developmental projects.

Typical house wives in the north who know the value of holding gold and using it when they are in serious financial needs.
22k is not the 2nd highest quality and 22k purity is not 91.9%. The highest gold quality is 24k with 99.99% purity seconded by 23k with 96% purity. 22k is the third quality with 92% purity.

Agbegbaorogboye:
World Cup and conclave are not related
You mean the best prepared teams always win the world cup?
The conclave is a gathering of few who make subjective decisions so both are not related in any way
Then your country should prepare well and win the world cup then. Leave the conclave for the few cardinals to make their subjective decisions or better still, become a cardinal if you think it's easy.
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Leo XIV's election, not an 'Emilokan' affair - Bishop Matthew Kukah by Aristo3146(m): 6:36pm On May 25, 2025
Agbegbaorogboye:
That's your interpretation. I can also see it as him telling us to mind our business
No one has control over winning the world cup. I believe an African pope has once emerged in history.
And Kukah is a Bishop not a cardinal
The point is he sounded arrogant comparing winning the world cup which no one has control over to electing a pope which is based on decision of a few which makes it subject to control
oga, world cup is based on your efforts, go and win that one first. Leave what happens at the conclave.
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Leo XIV's election, not an 'Emilokan' affair - Bishop Matthew Kukah by Aristo3146(m): 6:23pm On May 25, 2025
Agbegbaorogboye:
What's the relationship between winning the world cup and electing a Pope
The relationship is, No African country has ever won a world cup and No African has ever been elected a pope. The Cardinal is advising that we should focus more energy on lifting the world cup (which is based on our efforts) than making the conclave an Emilokan affairs. Focus on what you have control over than things you don't have control over. You get the point now?

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Nigeria typically conducts both written examinations and interviews as part of their recruitment process. The written exams are often used to assess applicants' knowledge in relevant fields, such as taxation, accounting, economics, and general aptitude. After the exams, shortlisted applicants are usually invited for interviews, which focus on assessing the applicants' skills, experience, and suitability for the role.

However, the exact process may vary depending on the specific position or the FIRS recruitment cycle. It is always a good idea to check the official FIRS website or the job announcement for the most current information on their recruitment process.

EducationWhy Fg Tax Evasion Charges Against Binance Will Amount To Nothing by Aristo3146(op): 2:03pm On Mar 25, 2024
The charges were filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by the Federal Inland Revenue Service today being 25th March 2024 In the suit with number: FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024.

The charges levied against Binance include non-payment of Value-Added Tax, Company Income Tax, failure to file tax returns, and complicity in aiding customers to evade taxes through its platform.

It is usually challenging to determine whether tax on cross border transactions should be paid to the jurisdiction where value is created or consumed. Moreover, the general rule for taxing income of foreign enterprises in a given jurisdiction is by establishing the entity's physical presence or whether the entity has a permanent establishment in such a country. Going by the above, Binance has no physical presence or has a permanent establishment in Nigeria.

A non-residence company can also be subjected to tax in Nigeria based on profit derived from Nigeria, however, the question as to whether a foreign company is liable to pay income tax in Nigeria is usually controversial. Section 13 of Companies Income Tax (CITA) implies that a non-resident company must have a physically performed activities in Nigeria before it can be considered that such a company has income tax liability in Nigeria.

It can even be difficult for consumers of non-resident services to withhold taxes on payments to non-resident persons due to the fact that non-resident persons may not be liable to Nigerian tax under Nigerian tax laws.

In as much as there is a need for urgent actions in Nigeria to block tax revenue leakages associated with existing gaps in taxing digital economy, there is also an urgent need to review the scope of "FIXED BASE" under section 13 of CITA.

SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC PRESENCE (SEP) AS PROVIDED UNDER FINANCE ACT 2019

In an effort to address challenges of taxing the digital economy, the Finance Act 2019 introduced the concept of significant economic presence(SEP) to expand the scope of Nigerian tax on foreign companies deriving income from Nigeria.
The Act provides that a foreign company shall have SEP in Nigeria where:
(a) It derives N25m annual gross turnover or its equivalent in other currencies from any or combination of its digital activities.
(b) Uses a Nigerian Domain name.
(c) Has a purposeful and sustained interaction with persons in Nigeria by customising its digital page or platform to target persons in Nigeria, including reflecting the prices of its product or services in Nigerian Currency.

Conclusions:
(1) Going by Section 13 of Companies Income Tax (CITA), Binance is not liable for tax under Nigerian tax laws.
(2) With the introduction of Significant Economic Presence (SEP) under Finance Act 2019, Binance is liable to be subject to tax to the extend to which they derived revenue from Nigeria.
(3) With reference to CBN circular of 5th February 2021, prohibiting all forms of Cryptocurrency transactions and declaring trading digital assets illegal, Binance is not subject to tax in Nigeria because, tax cannot be paid on any activity declared illegal.
