I would go with as many documents as possible but would not present any unless asked. My main focus will be on keeping my answers related to the questions asked, maintaining eye contact, talk loud and clear in my natural tone without a fake American accent.
Goodluck!

I would want to know a lot of details about the conference, ayo23. Its theme, speakers, relevance to today's world and me, how the conference will help my graduate education, and the justification of the organizer spending so much to invite me are some examples. I would also want to know where it is taking place and how to get there.

Either way your visa application goes, ayo23us, you are still going to be where you want to be, Nigeria, unless you are planning to abscond.

This thread should be reserved for what it was created for: to help green, prospective US-bound students to achieve their dreams of schooling in the USA. Unrelated, uncorrelated, and non-scholastic discussions ought to be discussed elsewhere.

US-based independent review boards are probably the best way to find answer and you can easily use google to achieve this. US missions and VOs hold this accrediting agencies in high standard and probably recognize and respect them more than this website or any of its users.
Most colleges usually require a minimum TOEFL score of 79 from foreign students.

GRE or other similar exam is probably one of the ways that a wary VO can use to determine potential students from those that are not.

You should be aware that though Hawaii is a state in the USA, it is not part of the continental United States. It is like a small country on its own with her language, customs, traditions, and so on. That said, the state offers a lot of opportunities like others and students can really have lots of wonderful and enjoyable times there.

I am A-Ok. How are u? I equally miss many people here, especially lodiku, who happens to follow in his dad and family footstep by being a charge & bail.

imperiouxx If you do not work hard academically, be hopeful and pray to God that there is no cut in the budgetary allocation for education in the next fiscal year, you will see the harsh reality of working a maximum hours of 20hrs a week, earning $8-10 per hour. That is when you will now that nobody is trying to misrepresent facts about coming to the US to school.

Have you seen TOEFL waived for a Chinese national before? Nigerians do claim that they understand English like the native speaker. That was why TOEFL was waived for imperiouxx and many others. Do you now see how your brain work, davidylan?

davidylan How can an undergraduate student be receiving a Research or Graduate Assistanship? Can you see that all your 10-year education in the US has been a waste of time?
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 5:59pm On Feb 05, 2012
imperiouxx  Why will I scare you? The fundings that you presently enjoy are competitive and for original thinkers. They are not really meant for somebody who did not write the GRE for fear of failure, nor somebody that does not know that the correct word in English is "scarecrow" and not "Crow-scare".

davidylan  You fit the profile of one of those hungry Nigerians that the US embassy watch out for: those poverty ridden souls who go to restaurants and can not afford to buy a piece of meat with their food. Well, you can eat all you want now in the US, glutton.

Texas is one of those states that is likely to cut her fundings in the next fiscal year. Your 3.0 GPA alone may not guaratee you a funding in the next semester. You should be full of prayers and not coming here to brag.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 5:28pm On Feb 05, 2012
imperiouxx, et al.

You are not using a balanced approach and you should probably stop bragging. RAs', TAs', and all other school funded financial assitance, depend on the state government financial buoyancy. Funding is not automatically guaranteed for the next semester. davidylan should have told you that. However, that comes as no surprise that he did not, since we can all see that he schooled in a small city with his small brain.

cleverdude It was another way of telling you that she was refusing your visa application.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 3:54pm On Jan 18, 2012
speartaker If US missions believe that students going for 208 weeks will not return after their studies, do you think they will for someone going for just 8 weeks?

cleverdude If you do decide to interview at the US embassy again, or at other places, read and learn about how to give consistent info. You do this by giving as little information as possible, providing answers that are related to the questions and which do not lead to further questions.

@ Aroy1

Do you except with such a response his visa will be issued To me that response of yours sounds not well reasoned, and its also capable of showing to the VO that the person in question is not a genuine student. Because seriously he ought to know why he was refused the visa, however in a clumsy situation his best bet is the answer he gave up there.

Talking more about the concept of well reasoned that you previously wrote, deevick246, I think I should say more.

1) Firstly, if cleverdude follows in your footstep, it is a guarantee that he might probably be denied. I hope the guy with interview tomorrow is able to see that the following quote is meaningless in the English language: Do you except with such a response his visa will be issued?

2) A well reasoned individual should know that there is no way that a US-bound Nigerian student can prove that they are 100% genuine student. They can only show that they are real students. They do this by speaking and writing in correct English and keeping their answers very simple and related to the questions asked.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 4:46pm On Jan 17, 2012
I did not say he (or you) must agree with me. That is why I started the advice with "maybe." It is simple English, deevick246.

cleverdude, your answer that deevick246 supports begs for more questions. That might prove bad if you are not careful. It will really be unwise for somebody to provide, or support, an answer that begs for more questions when they are at any interview.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 4:10pm On Jan 17, 2012
cleverdude Maybe you should say you do not know why you were denied; the guy who interviewed you that that day could best answer that.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 4:18pm On Jan 13, 2012
deevick246  I am not responding in the way I should have to your previous post because you did say you do not want us to fight. Let your use of a negative adjective on me be that one time. If you do it again, we both now how I would reply.

djunit1: I am fine, thank you, though presently out of the US. U ever heard of being able to walk and chew at the same time? I guess that is the difference between us. Your brain probably has a slow rate of working, processing activities one at a time. Mine can multitask. I do not expect you to believe, though. By the way, you have so many hard hits on your report. That results from either you are making many unsuccessful credit applications or someone is trying to steal your identity. Hard hits are not good on your credit report, trust me.

to all fraudsters with no brains

A genuine bank statement is a security print that contains invisible security insignia, just like money, visa, etc. It is extremely difficult for fraudsters to make security prints. A place like the US mission has the necessary equipment to check for the originality of a security print. A fraudulently obtained security print has a very high chance of being detected if subjected to security check.

You waived your right to privacy and authorise the release of your information to the relevant authority when you sign the DS160 form. I am very aware of that; you are not.

At 7.55pm on June 24, 2010, you posted this on the Travel section of nairaland:

@Freeman thanks for the response. I really need assistance because in as much as I believe a lot in prayers I like to do my things so that when I lie a lie detector would not be able to catch me. House if you know any one that can help me arrange 'Oluwole' WAEC cert that would only change my age from 1988 to 1989 please hola at me because I dont want to give those idiots at the embassy any reason to turn me down. I am more than certain to get this Visa so I want to do my home work properly.

At 1.27pm on June 25, 2010, think2ce or aroy1 replied:

Fake WAEC certificate easily can be detected via an embedded invisible security mark.

And at 3.58pm on June 25, 2010, you posted this:

Thanks think2ce I did not know there was a security or water mark on the WAEC Cert. With this info you have given me I would just take my original to the Embassy I know they have no choice but to give me Visa because God pass them!

Can you see now that you are wrong?
Embassies can verify if they want to. You should really desist from and stop to encourage fraudulent activities. If you could remember, you wanted to go to the US embassy with a FAKE WAEC certificate. I told you not to, and fortunately for you, you did not. With your experience at the US embassy, I think you should not be in support of fraud again.

Anyone with common sense should know that MTN/GLO can never be compared with a foreign mission. Anyone with common sense should also know that since there is no bank statement to verify, then logically, there is no visa for the poster. Any call for him or her to come for visa means something else.

It is pure common sense, djunit1. How are you in New york City?
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by aroy1: 2:21am On Jan 12, 2012
djunit1 They can find out if they want to. An Embassy is not anybody: it is a government, though minuscule.  Disclosure depends on the kind of agreement that exists between that embassy and the Nigerian government. That is why the British and Canadian missions can ascertain the information on the bank statement that you present to them.

shdnky Since Nigerian banks are always quick to confirm fraud, you should be careful if they call you to come for your visa. I would not support what djunit1 said that with God, frauds might be possible. Is the Almighty God fraudulent?

Be happy for somebody because they got a US visaYou are right, I am not that person. To me, visa is just a mean to an end. Unfortunately , for you and many Nigerians, it is the end. That is why they are overjoyed or congratulate one another when they receive US visas.
