If you have the e-passport, erros(s) can only be corrected at the Nigerian Immigration headquarter in Abuja.They will collect the present one with mistake(s) when you are issued the updated one.If you have the old passport, correction(s) can easily be done by applying for a new passport which will definitely be electronic.But ensure your updated details are what you supply when making the application.

Trust me, not including your middle name makes you 2 different individuals.Try and get the error corrected in your passport.You should be able to get that done at the Nigerian immigration office in Abuja depending on the type you have.I believe it is the best solution.

It is important that your full names (and date of birth) are uniform throughout in all your documents.Note that "Collins" & "Colins" are different names when it comes to consular matters.Inconsistencies in your names on its own is enough for visa refusal;more, it can cause deportation at the port of entry.

Since you emphasised safety, I'd advise you fly to the closest airport to Enugu & continue the rest by road.Nigerian roads are not too good and armed robberies/motor accidents are not uncommon in long distance journey.Just my piece of advice.

2)Since you have US permanent resident relative(s), how can you assure me you are coming back to Nigeria?

I can see your brother-in-law jeopardising your sister's visa issuance.

Firstly, the mismatch in his name is mainly Nigerian factor & the US is not concerned.Probably this is why he was previously denied.Note, to the Americans, "Collins" & "Colin" are 2 entirely different names.More, same applies to OKE, John Ola & OKE, Ola John.I've seen many people denied the DV lottery visa based on overlooked Nigerian factors.Am afraid your people might lose their non-refundable $1550 (DV visa fee for couple) & chance to the visa if they think the US share our mentality.

Secondly, the US consulate deny a VERY HIGH PERCENTAGE of DV couples in which the initial applicant/winner was single.Many Nigerians have abused the system and the consulate is well aware such couples are 80-90% arrangee marriage, in other words fraudulent.Clearly,your case falls into this and already this is a good ground of refusal if they provide mismatched answers to questins asked when being interviewed as couples.

You might have a problem.If you are able to find a Nigerian/non US-based sponsor, that will be better.Letting a consular officer know that you have people in US that are citizens/permanent residents on its own & based on their law can lead to refusal.Goodluck.

I am not 100% sure but news has it only the passport offices' headquarter in Abuja can replace lost e-passport.I will advise you to confirm this at your nearest Nigerian Immigration Service website.

You're being given all those hassles because you're processiing your lottery case at a foreign land.It's so much easier at your country of citizenship.I think they are prepared to grant you the visa but being careful to really evaluate and know who you are since you are in a foreign country and they rarely encounter cases like yours.Ideally,US embassy/consulate in Nigeria could easily evaluate and decide on your case (based on their local experiences) in 10minutes.Right now,all I can advise you is to hope & pray.

I hope you are able to get the US immigrant visa,but in case of the unexpected,NO,you can't appeal.The consular decision is final.Let me know how everything goes.
