CultureRe: IMHO As Regards Oba Akiolu R.'s Bigotry Statement by Arsenella007(f): 6:31am On Apr 07, 2015
beejayphako:
* You dont really have to crucify me cos am just talking from my own point of view*
As for me, I condemn the way alayeluwa HRM Oba of lagos went about to make his point. Mind you, all he wanted to do was to make a point, a vital one which is 'Lagos is a yorubaland'. Take a look at it, why is it that the oba didnt attack the hausa's like that, the southerners and the likes? Why igbo?? I think its simple, the igbo's are greedy. They want to take over the affairs of lagos. They already started laying claims to the seat of the deputy gov. Sooner than later, they will start fighting to govern lagos after they might have gotten the deputy governor post. Are they the only tribe in lagos? Seriously, I dont think u can try that in their land. And, its not suppose to be to be candid. I think the Oba felt the Igbo's are the only obstinate tribe in lagos that dont think like he does and there is this yoruba adage 'Onilu oni fe kilu e tu' meaning The owner / ruler of a town will not want its peace to be disrupted.. And the Oba really wants the progress of its people by trying to see his state not being controlled by the opposition knowing quite well it will be of a greater advantage to His people and I think he reasoned well. Onlike the igbo's who obviously lost their chance of having a senate president in this administration, due to obstinacy, under the tutelage of their oba's. The Oba knew quite well Igbo's are stubborn so, he thought that would actually make His stance which I think he needn't to have made a death threat but Oba ba lori oun gbogbo. We respect our kings. In a nutshell, Igbo's shouls always respect their hosts like the other tribes. Igbo's are lovely people esp their gals and women cheesy , and they re very industrious and funny. But, Agidi yi naani sad
This whole nonsense have gone too far. Can you provide a source proving the Igbos laying claim to the seat of the Deputy Governor? I don't see why you guys should feel threatened to the point of making unguarded comments and opening countless threads to make derogatory statements. They Igbos ate greedy because the won some federal seats? What stops a yoruba man from doing that in an Igbo soil if the have the population to tilt the votes to their favour. And i thought we are one Nigeria. It's a shame

modath:
Pastor Bakare we know, but the game of politics is not the house of the lord, where white will never be blue.. compromises had to be made.

GMB in this instance can be likened to a strict father who has promiscous children in tertiary institutions, he may not be able to stop them when they are in school but they know better than to engage in their antics under his roof.

I supported the people's general in '11 and I remember what an uphill task it was to convince people outside of my immediate family to give him a chance(one of my friends still side eyes me till this day for trying to sell her an "Unbeliever".) ..My cousin told me Jonathan's shoeless story then was compelling and she wouldn't even entertain my attempts. Fast forward to 2015, she not only voted for GMB,she was online monitoring PU results.

Unless we keep lying to ourselves, our votes alone didn't bring this long desired change, its the formidable force behing the general that made it easier for some people to accept him.
So now it's acceptable to have criminals around him.. No double standard mbok. If he says he is going to fight corruption he needs to start with the people around him. Please don't hold brief for him.. That has always been what he is known for so he needs to set an example thereby putting the fear of God into al and sundry. He must show he is a man of integrity and anti corruption.. No be wetin una talk say he is??

Babe, the fight is not on NL. These PDP NL branch and GEJ supporters here are paper weights who apart from about 3 of them can't hold a convo without turning to tribal rants pr insults. Most people will rather bother with twitter where a lot of intelligent convos happen and even the government officials converge to drop their stuff.

You expect me to come here to exchange banter with the likes on this thread? The ones who could not even see that the PDP will lose the SW or calculate that Sule Lamido's gamble was a fool's gamble?
Leaving Nairaland in its entirety will seem to people as cowardly. Nairaland is still part of the online Nigerian community. Best is stay at the flanks and observe, comment when necessary and ignore the snide comments. You can't really ignore the power of Nairaland. If I may put it that way.. As much you were part of the whole change movement,be here to defend it.. Simple

They should stay o incase and be ready to defend the government of Buhari incase he messes up.. We are not praying for that shaa..

Leave those ragtag militants in the creek to d Federal govt; they ll be sorted out like what they are this time around. The media attention and of course the sympathy from other Nigerians have all disappear to thin air.

Please, chill, relax and watch what would befall them after May 29th.

No militants anywhere in the world have been able to deal with central govt. Trust me on this; this would be the end of the likes of Tompolo and Asari
Let's wait and see..

Please go on different fora and see what your kinsmen are writing abt Hausas and Yorubas
Which fora are you taking about? How many threads have you seen here on nairaland threatening Yorubas and hausas since Buhari was declared winner? I was talking about the Militants in the creeks but you dragged the Igbos into the discussion.. Victims indeed
PoliticsRe: Ijaw Youths To Meet On Outcome Of Presidential Poll by Arsenella007(f): 11:01am On Apr 03, 2015

My friend, the only war that will bring Nigeria to her knees is when the entire southern part of the country fight side by side against the Northern part of the country. And it ll be difficult to achieve this alliance against the North considering the fact it's only Yorubas (Edos and others) that ll never allow tribal sentiment to overshadow their sense of reasoning.

However, Yorubas ll never go into any stupid war with either Ijaws or trouble seeking Igbos, but in case history wants to repeat itself again (Igbo wants to go and liberate their yoruba friends again), that ll be the beginning of d end of the war. Igbos have done more harms to the unity of this beautiful country than good and I don't know why our leaders could not come together to ask them to go so as to enjoy our peaceful co-existence with others (I know things are not done that way but it ll save us from killing one another as a nation)

Yorubas and Hausas/Fulanis are not smiling dis days with Igbos ooooo, go on different Fora and see d reality on ground my friend and Igbos started it..........

I pray against any war but if a war break out today in Nigeria, wt the mood of Hausas and Yorubas, there won't be a single of Igbo in the North and west trust me

They opened the old wounds

Historically, wars are not fought and won by weapons alone but wisdom and intelligence.
Any out break of war in thus country will have an adverse effect on all ethnic groups. But naively put by you am not talking of war but the outbreak of violence in the south. Lol. The Igbo opened wounds because of what? Because the choose to support a candidate the prefer? you guys make me sick..you are not smiling with ndi Igbo. You think the care? If they have done more harm to the Unity entity called Nigeria, why not let them go? You are the ones always beating the drums of war. Election has come and gone but you guys won't just let the Igbos be.. What is democracy? IF a particular ethnic group decides to support a particular party or candidate why should the be crucified for it? I voted Buhari not because of anything but because of the gross misconduct in the Jonathan administration.. Please

Very easy just like Jesus said to the cripple stand and Walk and he walked. Asari will say to the FPSO blow up and it will blow up.
Guy The Urhobo and Itsekiri do not share the same sentiment IT IS AN IJAW THING . Who were the main Ogoni people in GEJ's government? He has been there 5 years did he clean up Ogoni Land oil spill? Who is the main Itsekiri actor in his government? Instead Ijaw were fighting them over EPZ. This grievance you talk about is not shared by all Ijaws even just militants. What did Jonathan do in Rivers State? Amaechi challenged him on that publicly.
You talk naively I am sure you are still young and have little practical experience of real life and what the issues are or whose interests are involved in all of this. When you are dealing with a people who embrace nihilism you have to be careful. The rational iissue here is simple : There was an election and your person lost that is all there is to it everything else is sentiment. If you resort to violence WHO WILL BACK YOU?

I can tell you without equivocation. If they blow up one FPSO The entire Ijaw race will be relocated to Chad and Not onne Security Council member will cough. Nigeria can survive without oil. Do not be deceived but I assure yo it will take less than 3 years to relocate the entire Ijaw race . That yansh wey you see wey dey shy when time to shit reach e dey . If we say make everybody do him worst Ijaw will never recover.
Pls Mr am a lady ok. And to the point you raised what happened when Jonathan won the elections?? Book haram. You think it's the North alone that knows how to be violent? The don't need any backing. They did it before and the can do it again. If Nigeria can survive with oil why the over dependence on oil? Lol. Have you been to the creeks before? You think if the violence starts it will be restricted to the creeks alone? Someone said that the arms in Rivers alone enough to take on the whole country. Relocate to Chad. See how sweet it sounds in your mouth easier said than done. Am sure what the are waiting for is for Jonathan to hand over and it begins

Nigeria will not be starting any violence. Let the Ijaw do likewise.Anyhow they want it they will get it we must bear in mind that Nigeria is not beating war drums. We want peace

very little of the oil comes from Ijaw land
See the states that get the most from derivation That will tell you the story. Most of the oil is off shore now and that is why Akwa Ibom gets the highest allocation
.They will NOT join the Ijaw in their craze . In Deta state Ijaws are a minorityand Urhobo will not follow them either. I cannot say how Rivers will roll but I doubt they will follow Ijaw either.
You think so? Its not an ijaw thing. It's about an aggrieved people. Pls don't ever underestimate anybody. And mind you Akwa Ibom get most of their oil wells from Rivers. Whether Akwa Ibom joins or not all the need is to be blowing up things.. Nothing more.

The same Ijaw that couldn't fight Itsekiris. I told their sponsors-The Igbos here that there is nothing like united Niger-delta when it comes to war in Nigeria cos Niger delta consists of different ethnic groups and some of the ethnic group is historically and culturally tied with the Yorubas Nation and 80% of North central are cousin to the North but refused to believe me. And as you can see now, it's only the Ijaws that would be having their meeting......

The good thing is that the commander in chief won't be their slow brother again and a bitter lesson will be force on them along the line. Let go and ask IRA of Ireland and Biafra with western trained soldiers.

They are thinking it ll be d same riot; seek and hide riot of the past but I m here to disappoint them that it's gonna be a total full war. The likes of Asari ll leave the old and younger ones to their fate when the battle gets to his doorsteps.

These fools called Ijaw youth choose to follow a man who went to establish his business in Benin for the sole purpose of keeping the business safe for his family in case of a war and the followers are not that smart to see the handwriting all over the wall.

The bad thing about this is that the few structures and developments on their land will be destroyed and nothing will come out of the war. The war ll relegate Ijaws to nothing in Nigeria.

You call them fools forgetting that Nigeria survives on the resources gotten from their land. You talk like you have seen war before.. Go and ask what it looks like.. What we should be talking about is how to make sure violence doesn't resume in the nigerian deltas because this time around it will not be limited to the creeks alone..
PoliticsRe: Ijaw Youths To Meet On Outcome Of Presidential Poll by Arsenella007(f): 7:14am On Apr 03, 2015
I always prayed it won't come to this. The North really made governance difficult for Goodluck but let peace reign. We can not go through this circle again. And for those saying bring it on, the worst you can do is to underestimate these militants. Most over the years have become richer and have alot of connections and mind you most of our military personnel have already been depleted fighting boko haram. Buhari should run an all inclusive government devoid of retaliations and ethnic rancor. Let him invite these youths and discuss with them instead of ignoring them.

Sooroptimist1:
Please vote him out of power so that when your allocation gets slashed and the opposition government you will install tax you all to death in order to run the state, you wont say you were not told

Most of you are just so full of hate that you wont mind to cut your nose to spite your face

If you dont know that there is an inherent advantage aligning with a friendly ruling government at the centre

GEJ tactically reduce the allocation to most opposition states citing crude oil theft and reduced oil price while giving leverage to PDP states through the ecological funds to shore up their dwindled allocation in order to make workers and citizens in the opposition states to cry and blame their Governors for owing them many months salary

While Osun workers wailed and whined about Aregbesola owing few months salary, did you hear Ekiti workers make so much noise? That is the advantage of being with the ruling party... a style started by OBJ which Jonathan has also perfected....which is to stifle opposition states of their funds in order to turn opinion poll against them while feeding well its own controlled states

So Imolites should vote out Rochas so that when the new Governor start feeling the cash crunch and seeks to transfer the pain on you the masses, you will perfectly understand the import of your sill.y decisions

instead of you to be happy that Imo will enjoy more attention and patronage from the APC FG,you want to cut your head due to Okorocha;s headache

Kontinu
It's a pity if this is how majority think cos I can see this expressed by the likes you got.. I really thought the change government will do things differently. So by your view it will be a government of relatiation. The states that voted for Buhari gets to be treated better than the states that didn't. So where is the change? You type are those that continues fanning the ambers of hate and division in this country and we don't need such now. We no longer want things to be done the same old way.
