dayodare490:I have been living well even before jonathan got to be a president,,,,,so what makes you think that I would stop breathing because igbos lost out in the political adventure of 2015? Its your type that brings about all these rancor in the country today, why not get something doing? That way at least you won't care about the igbos losing it all in politics |

Arsenella007:You are not thinking clearly. Boko Haram is a Kanuri phenomena that started under Yar'adua .It is not true that it was because GEJ won election. The kanuri side of it is important for the following reasons. The Kanuri are distinct from Hausas and even their historical rivals. The Kanuris are even less exposed to Western education than Hausas and rarely travel outside their domain. This was a good thing because that is why to a large extent they did not penetrate the south. If it had been a Hausa/Fulani phenomena we would have been saying something else. Clearly the Hausa and Fulani were not in support and were even victims.Attempts were made on the lives of Buhar, the late Emir of kano and the current one. Let us look at the nature of what they did killing their own people burning towns etc How did that harm GEJ. The truth is that because GEJ interpreted it in a personal way as an attack on him he reacted slowly and wrongly. We are talking of people engaged in suicide bombings etc and we say it was because of GEJ. This is a very unfortunate way of thinking though in life I have learnt that an argument no matter how goo, rational or convincing will never sway an emotional conviction. My position on GEJ is this; We can look at the lost election from the perspective of his performance as many have but to me that is unimportant. There have been others before him and their performance was nothing to write home about though we must be honest to say he has had more money than any president in history he has also borrowed more. The issue is his POLITICAL STRATEGY. How did he strategize for reelection. The answer is that he did not .He foolishly assumed that incumbency alone was enough. This may work if you are from a majority ethnic group but not for a minority whose constituency only have a small fraction of the votes. It was important that he united the entire south behind him if he did that there is no way on God's earth he would lose. The problem was there has always been rivalry between the SE and SW. He created the impression that he was siding with the SE . This was foolish. The Yoruba say if there are no cracks in the wall lizards cannot penetrate. He made a secret deal with Tinubu in 2011 and shortly afterwards we saw photos of Tinubu in the dock. What was the deal with that? To me that would only make sense if he succeeded in jailing Tinubu for a long time and then taking over his infrastructure..That did not happen and so one can only wonder what he was playing at. Again we saw the "arrest" of "Dimeji Bankole" What was the strategy behind that. Even if he had a "file" on the young man he did not use it to his advantage and so all the people in the SW whom he could have built and empowered he chose or others close to him chose to neutralize. It would seem that some people very close to him felt that they needed to curb the influence of the SW including OBJ. The effect of all of this was to make Tinubu and APC even stronger. He failed to read all of this and so one can only assume that his strategy was to rig the elections come what may. Okay, why then did he not do that in the end. I suspect that the man was tired and wanted to rest, psychologically he had had enough. This was all about political inexperience. I have made the point before and I will make it again Why did he keep Dieziani as oil minister. What did she bring to the table. How did she help him politically ?Were there no other politicians from the SS he could have put in that role? She is not known as a politician and so when time for election came what was her value? Yet he ave her the sweetest job in Nigeria. It would only make sense if we can say she was there to clean things up Finally why did he allow the feud with Amaechi to become what it did.Amaechi comes across as stubborn but also straightforward. HE lacked the interpersonal skills to manage that situation and so started an unnneeded war. With all the money that came into Nigeria under his watch which is UNPRECEDENTED. Why did he not do the 2nd Niger Bridge That is the only performance issue I will raise here because the money was there and it would have been an eternal legacy. I am perplexed |

Even the loud mouth OBJ could not end the problem with the militants and somehow buhari will right? I pray intelligent people help avert disaster. Flets: 1 Like |

nwadiuko1: War is the price of freedom. Even Zik,Awolowo,Bode Thomas and all the founding fathers of Nigeria had to fight before they got independence from the British. In that same vain, the SE/SS might have to fight a war with Nigeria before they gain their freedom |

I've said it and I'll keep saying it. Nigeria is not a nation but a mere geographical area under under government Yorubas, Ijaws and Igbo need to come together as Southerners for what we desire most - independence All this selfish greedy politicians don't care about you, the likes of obasanjo and tinubu are shameless thieves who have interest of their people at heart |

nwadiuko1: There is an Igbo adage that goes "defeat is not a good enough reason to run away from a fight". Any true son of ndigbo believes this. I wish we wont have to fight, but unfortunately,The Yorubas and Hausas would rather commit suicide than let the Igbo man go his way. |
